Ah, the anticipation. Traditional trips taken each year. Memories extending back many years. A storm is coming, but it probably will be ok, given how low the river has been through the Fall. Up early, as a two hour drive lies ahead and we want to be on the water at first light.There early, gearing up in the dark. Down we go through old briars, alders and mud.

Silent recognition amongst us. Nothing needs to be said; we’ve been here enough times to know where the water line needs to be for safe wading and productive presentations. The river is up a good two feet  too high at the bank…back up into the tall grass and briars. The speed is too fast and the mind starts to work on where could we go to gain ok access. We cannot turn around now.  We each tried according to our own individual patience levels. Some sat out early, fed up. All eventually gave up.Too unsafe to wade and fish.

River levels, prognostications and weather systems were checked, but it poured forth oblivious to the forecast. Next few months maybe….time is so scarce these days….but we all need the fix, the pull, the moment.

As my various endeavours begin to swallow me whole and my new naturopath determines that the theme of my current emotional state is ‘disconnect’,  I return to words for their gravity.  The bumper sticker in my head reads ‘I’d rather be blogging’.

It is pretty much just labour that is keeping me from this space.  The labour of building this project, of working my way into some community (which is something I have to re-develop my skills for), of keeping the kitchen clean (because if that falls apart, then so do I).  While I don’t really want to work 7 days a week, and I won’t when the initial setup of the biscuitry has rounded out, I do find a feeling of self-containment and self-satisfaction within my bubble of disconnect.  I have taken some of the things I knew didn’t work for my in my last labour role and finding places to get them in my new ones.  Collectivity and co-operation, non-hierarchy, intentionality about process, fluidity and experimentation.  The opportunity to develop at a natural rate.  I do not like being isolated from things like friends and free time and art and music and the outdoors.  But if I’m going to be away from those things, this is an agreeable way to do it.

As far as the conditions and execution of one’s labour are concerned, though, this lady has it figured out.

Adentrando, história sobre a mais jovem dos Perpétuos, Delirium, é, na minha opinião, uma das melhores do álbum. O modo como Gaiman a estruturou parece um pouco confuso a príncipio, mas essa era exatamente a intenção.

Nela, Delirium se encontra perdida e ferida dentro de seu próprio reino. Daniel, o atual Sandman, o corvo Matthew e Barnabás, o cão guardião de Delirium, tentam reunir um exército de loucos para resgata-la de dentro de seus domínios.

A história é narrada da perspectiva dos loucos, sendo toda fragmentada e muitas vezes indiferenciada. Os desenhos de Bill Sienkiewicz seguem o mesmo padrão do texto de Gaiman, transmitindo uma sensação de estranheza e certo desconforto.

Na realidade, o que eles conseguem é transmitir exatamente o que se passa na mente de alguém mentalmente perturbado, incapaz de diferenciar o que é real do que é mera fantasia, incapaz de distinguir a si mesmo e aos outros que o rodeiam. Uma forma bastante original e genial de mostrar quem (ou o que) é Delirium.

Can’t be a new Pope-mobile, not in Florida just before Thanksgiving. (Not that the Pope gives two sacred rats’ patooties about the American Thanksgiving. But it is just before Christmas, which is a pretty busy time for a pope, I understand.)

So I tried to get a better look, which required some lane changes and deviousness.

Well, no real help there, except I can see what appears to be a license plate on that yellow vehicle.

From here, I could read “electric” in yellow text in the black stripe. Look closely on the right side, mostly behind the grate. (Might be easier to see if you click the pic to embiggen it.)

Still not satisfied, I decided to pass the electric-thingy-in-tow and try to kinnear a shot out of my passenger window. Without swerving or crashing or doing anything stupid like that.

Here’s the money shot, so to speak:

BTW, the electric car indeed has an Indiana license plate on it, so I guess its owners wanted to bring it south for the winter/holidays.

I’m sitting in the backstage of a venue called Seurahuone in Kotka, Finland. Later this evening I will be playing a show with a former Idol contest finalist Antti Tuisku. I’ve got my Ultimate Ears headphones on and I’m listening to Massive Attack.

So basically what I want to do now is talk about what this is about in english. No, it’s not about drugs as you might have thought looking at the picture posted before. This blog is about making music and what ever relates to that. That means quite a lot of things, but we try to maintain at least some level of sanity in what we post here.

“We” are Juulia a.k.a. JEmmy and Jukka from my country. That is Finland. We found each other from an internet based social networking service similar to Facebook but a finnish one. That was a few moths ago. After getting to know each other better we found out that we share many music related interests, so we decided to start making music together. Well, there’s nothing really peculiar to that yet, but what we choose to do was to make a blog about it. Again, that doesn’t still bring peace to the middle east or shit like that, but knowing the fact that we haven’t ever done anything musical together I think is an interesting starting point for a blog like this. Another relatively fascinating point is that unlike all the bands and artists blogging about “now we are recording guitars to our new album” or “tonight I’m playing a show in Kotka” we are really actually starting this blog and the music production at the very same time. You will basically be living our life with us alongside with this project. The goal is to accurately document the whole process of the production from songwriting to mixing and everything else. We don’t even know what the final product is going to actually be, so you better give us some fucking good ideas!

So. I’m a music producer. Since I’ve been making my living doing that for 8 years now I consider myself a professional one. I also like to play and sing live. I play keyboards, drums, bass and guitar. Although I have a strong history in playing and studying afro-american music I have been playing mostly rock. I have to say that I’m the most broad-minded and unprejudiced music listener I know.
