It was a last minute search on the internet that I learnt about Ratchada Night Market (or Bazaar most understood in Thailand).  I quickly note down the details of RNM in my diary (which I always carries with me no matter where I go) and off to the airport we go. 

On Saturday which is the busiest night of RNM, we decided to pay it a visit.   Based on my short term memory, I told Al that we need to take the BTS and alight at Ratchadewi Station (40 Bhat per person).  When we reached the station, Al took a quick look at the surronding environment and asked me if I was sure this is the correct station cos the place looked the least happening.  I immediately do a quick check on my diary and realised that its not Ratchadewi nor Ratchadamri but RATCHADAPISEK Station (MRT).  WAHHHHHHH!!!!! 

I need directions!!!  We went to the station control and had some luck to have a staff who knows English and who knows how to get to RNM.  She told us that in order to Ratchadapisek Station we have to take the BTS to Mo Chit (where Chatuchak Market is!! Its pretty far and that’s another 40 Bhat) and then changed to the MRT which is just next to the Mo Chit Station. Phew!  By now, I can remember exactly how to get to RNM.  For you guys who wants to visit RNM, please do not make the same mistake as me.

After we reach Ratchadapisek Station, we have to walk about 200 metres to RNM.  I know we were near when we saw the lights and the human traffic. Here are some pictures for your reference should anyone of you wishes to visit RNM.  Tadah….! Its worth a visit

Leather keys holder which cost 69 Bhat each. We bought the "little gingerbread man" design and have our car plate number imprinted onto it. Cute!

I did not try these as I was FULL.. They looked like some meat balls to me which smell really good...

Open from Friday to Sunday (Saturday being the busiest) when you can’t see the sun anymore.

Transceiver dengan sumber energi alternatif

Listrik dan bahan bakar minyak adalah sumber energi yang kini berada di ambang batas kritis. Tak mengherankan jika vendor infrastruktur jaringan telekomunikasi pun mesti mengembangkan teknologi dengan energi alternatif. Dua diantara teknologi infrastruktur yang telah memakai sumber energi alternatif adalah base transceiver station (BTS) bertenaga hidrogen dari PT Hutchison Cp Telecom Indonesia dan BTS buatan Nokia Siemens Network yang dinamai Smart Site Systems.

BTS hidrogen dari Hutchison, yang mengoperasikan jaringan Three(3), telah dibangun di 200 lokasi di indonesia. Beberapa waktu lalu Hutchison meresmikan BTS tersebut, salah satunya di Pondok Gede, Jakarta Timur. Director Intercarrier Gevernment and Regulatory PT Hutchinson Sidarta Sidik mengatakan pemakaian energi hidrogen bertujuan mendukung komitmen pihaknya terhadap isu lingkungan. “Pengoperasian ini untuk ikut mengingatkan kepedulian lingkungan dan global warming,” ujar Sidarta. BTS ini memiliki sistem yan g “mengail” senyawa hidrogen dari air. Lalu pada sebuah katalis, hidrogen ini diubah menjadi elektron. Pada sebuah membran elektrolit, proton diubah menjadi energi listrik. Prosesnya sederhana.

Dengan bahan bakar semacam itu, BTS dari Hutchison ini tidak akan berisik. Selain itu, tentu saja ia tidak akan menghasilkan polusi, seperti bahan bakar minyak atau sangat bergantung pada pasokan listrik PLN. Adapun Smart Site System dari Nokia Siemens Networks bermuara pada sistem BTS bernama Flexi BTS. Ini adalah BTS yang hemat energi dengan disain yang sederhana. Menara pada Smart Site System bersifat portabel. Alih-alih memakai desain dari tulang-tulang besi yang besar dan makan tempat, menara ini memakai bahan aluminium. Bentuk keseluruhannya adalah tabulator berkaki tiga, sehingga fondasinya lebih kecil. Dibanding dengan desain menara umumnya, desain ini 87 persen lebih sedikit membutuhkan elemen pembangunan.

Dengan flexi BTS yang mungil, situs BTS ini tak membutuhkan penyejuk udara alhasil, ia hemat energi. Lagi pula kebutuhan listriknya hanya sebesar 650-1.200 watt. Sumber Energi Smart Site Systems juga bisa diciptakan dari panel surya untuk menangkap cahaya matahari. “Sistem ini jadinya bersifat otonom,” kata Dharmesh Malhotra, Head of Services Subregion Indonesia Nokia Siemens, di Sukabumi beberapa waktu lalu.

Nah, soal flexi BTS itu , ini adalah perangkat BTS yang mungil dan bisa diletakkan di mana saja, tak mesti di letakkan di mana saja, tak mesti di menara seperti pada umumnya. Sepintas desainnya seperti boks komputer desktop dengan ukuran lebih besar. Flexi BTS ini didukung pita jaringan yang lebih luas. Ia mampu menangani jaringan GSM/EDGE, WCDMA/HSPA, sampai WiMAX.
