Il progetto del Rigassificatore a Trieste è controverso e non siamo ancora in grado di sapere se, nonostante le plurime dichiarazioni delle autorità, esso si farà. Ricordiamo, infatti, che molti progetti sono passati sotto i ponti negli ultimi decenni e nessuno ha visto un procedere reale dei lavori che erano stati così fortemente annunciati…con notevole grancassa mediatica. Vi ricordate del “Porto Turistico”?

Ci può essere un avvenire turistico per Trieste (che sarebbe uno dei pochi progetti commerciali ed  “industriali” praticabili per una città che è stata de-industrializzata di fatto nell’ultimo trentennio) con un impianto (o forse 2) del genere nel Golfo e rischi a parte? I 70, 80 posti di lavoro sperati ci potrebbero ripagare dei possibili rischi connessi al funzionamento dell’impianto? E ancora: investire seriamente nel turismo creerebbe o no molti più posti di lavoro ed un richiamo internazionale che porrebbe la città in un rilievo maggiore rispetto a quello assegnatale dopo il cambiamento delle rotte commerciali avvenute negli ultimi decenni?

Trieste, città di mare, città alla quale manca il retroterra se non brullo, scosceso. Carsico in altre parole. “Tergeste Urbs fidelissima” come definizione assegnatole dall’Imperatore d’Austria per la benemerenza garantita agli Asburgo durante i moti rivoluzionari del 1840. Città musicalissima e coltissima per l’intreccio di letterati, artisti, che vi soggiornarono più o meno in modo duraturo, ove addirittura non fu il loro luogo di nascita. Ma d’estate ed in particolar modo proprio durante i mesi caldi dell’anno nel vero senso del termine, Trieste diventa l’indiscusso palcoscenico delle Operette. Genere, stile, vocazione che, un nome su tutti, Sandro Massimini seppe portare a tali livelli da diventare un vero e proprio festival internazionale. Quale su tutte le composizioni rappresentano più egregiamente il genere operettistico mitteleuropeo? “Il Cavallino Bianco”? “La Contessa Maritza”, “Cincillà”? “L’Ussaro sul tetto”? “Ballo al Savoy” ?, “Il Paese dei Campanelli? O ancora “La Bella Galatea”, “Parata di Primavera” “La Vedova Allegra” ? Gli appassionati, ed a Trieste ce ne sono tanti, prova ne sia che è soprattutto grazie al loro attaccamento al genere musicale teatrale ed al loro entusiasmo che si deve lo sforzo della messa in scena anche se sempre più con mezzi e fondi limitati, come anche nella vicina Austria – un caso? – si tramandano la tradizione di assistere ad un paio d’ore di spensierata nostalgia dei tempi che furono riempiendo ogni posto a sedere del teatro Verdi. Già, i “tempi che furono” quando alla durezza del quotidiano si opponevano i momenti di sereno divertimento, e nelle serate afose, accanto alle masse popolari impiegate nei cantieri triestini, sedeva la borghesia delle compagnie di traffici marittimi, bancarie ed assicurative. Tutti pacificamente accomunati dal sentire che lo spettacolo apparteneva loro senza distinzione di classe, censo, status. Tutti assistevano e coglievano l’unanime divertimento, la medesima sagacia e lo stesso spirito macchiettistico delle compagnie teatrali. La musica non appariva né agli ascoltatori più semplici e benevoli né ai critici più severi, come qualcosa di serie “b” ma anzi, dava risalto all’azione ed al contenuto emotivo e talvolta psicologico dell’argomento senza mai travalicare la semplicità che quel paio d’ore doveva regalare. I balletti, poi, che spesso costituivano parte integrante dello spettacolo, basti pensare al Can Can ai valzer, alle mazurke, trascinavano ancor più in ambienti ora parigini, ora viennesi, ora londinesi, chi per impossibilità economica o anagrafica o di qualsiasi altra natura fosse, non avrebbe mai potuto assistervi nei luoghi d’origine. Franz Lehar, Emmerick Kalman, Franz Von Suppè, ecc, sono solo alcuni dei compositori che votarono il loro genio allo stile operettistico rendendo immortali le loro opere e capaci di adattarsi a tutti i cambiamenti delle epoche culturali che soprattutto nella seconda metà del ‘900 si sono succedute con straordinaria velocità ed intensità.
