Sounds like trouble in Hugh’s paradise. American Michelle Braun, who had an escort agency and used to offer her girls to Hollywood celebrities and wealthy clients, made serious allegations regarding Hefner’s bunnies. She claims that Hefner’s girls are among her clients “luxury whores”.

Michelle Braun, known as the “matron of Hollywood, was arrested for pimping in June, after U.S. authorities discovered that she had an escort agency that arranged meetings between famous Playboy bunnies and some of her richest clients, in exchange for huge amounts of money. For a hot night with one of Hefner’s girls, clients should pull out from their pocket at least $ 10,000. Among those who called on Michelle’s agency’s services are included monarchs from two countries or major international companies executives.

I did lots of errands and driving around today. First I went to the gym first thing today and got a good hour of exercise. I really really need to get to the gym a lot more. Because the exercise makes me feel 100% better. When I got home, Amber called and rescheduled until Wednesday. It was no problem. Because Linda wanted to give me her four boxes of towels to donate to the animal shelter.

So I went over to Linda’s, in her new apartment. Every time I see her she’s so stressed out and down on herself. I really expected to see her much much happier now, being in a new place. But she was even worse. I tell her that she has nothing to be worrying about, but she insists she does. I can only stand so much of her and then I have to be on my way. But she actually gave me $20 for the trouble. I was okay with that. And then she wanted to hug me when I left. That was fine too. I guess she needs a friend like me. The boxes had a few nice towels that I kept for myself.

I decided to come home first before going over the the animal shelter, to see if my EDD check was here, and it was. Thank you God. So I deposited it to my credit union. And then made the towel delivery to the pound. There was a woman there giving her cute little dog to the shelter. She looked like a fairly rich woman. It pissed me off. But I didn’t say anything to her. I just walked down to the rabbit cages to see all of the soooo cute little rabbits. The 2 gray lop-eared bunnies were gone. But there was a female pretty rabbit who just arrived. She had that super pretty fur that looks kind of like wild gray rabbit fur, she was a few months old. And there were 2 cages of baby rabbits. And the black and white male rabbit was still there. I wanted him. But now I can’t take care of the ones that I have now. I’m hoping that someone will adopt him and the others, especially the pretty girl bunny. And there were 3 Nubian goats that were not ready for adoption yet. I wonder how a goat can end up as a stray. If I had a ranch or even a large back yard in that kind of area, I’d adopt them. One of them for sure.

I’m happy now, because Pinkie is laying down in her cage. That means she’s getting comfortable in it. Instead of trying to break out of it. And this morning as I was leaving for the gym, little Priti was laying down on the floor, flat on her tummy with her little hind legs splayed out in back of her. She’s been eating a little and then running under the couch. I have to put her back into the cage for the night. I want to be able to keep them in their cages at night from now on. I bought them some more pellets today. And I got them new water bottles. And of course I bought Nala some new mousie toys. She jumped up onto the counter and sniffed them all. And then chose a gray one and carried it in her mouth, and then batted it onto the floor. And she’s outside now.

Alright I’m home now and feeling so much better than the weekend. I’m seriously wondering why I felt so stressed out on Saturday. It was like my entire weekend went to waste. Because I was too tired to do anything yesterday.

This morning I went into the Catholic church and kneeled down and said a prayer, and also talked to my grandfather, by myself. I miss him so much. And I also went to eat a French dip sandwich at Watsons before coming home.

Tomorrow is the big Thanksgiving dinner at my work. I want to tint my hair tonight.

Christine Saenz

I recently watched this “Sweet Million’s” commercial, one ostensibly cute enough to elicit a genuine “awww” from Dick Cheney. Bloggers from across the country have almost unanimously agreed that “widdle bunniewunnies riding in widdle teacupsis” is the cutest thing they have ever seen. In contrast, my non-comformist younger sister watched the 30 second clip and noted that “they all look so sad.” Sad, scared, or sedated? Once we push past the sickeningly sweet image of a rabbit spinning in a teacup, we are forced to confront the grim reality that bunnies do not, in fact, voluntarily race down slides, drive bumper cars, take photos, or ride in hot air balloons. The only rabbits I have ever seen at a carnival were cooped up in cages to be sold as household playthings—and, unsurprisingly, they were not wearing doll’s clothing. So this begs the larger question – what exactly are these rabbits doing in this commercial, and more importantly, who monitors their use in advertisements to ensure they are handled properly and treated humanely?

That job belongs to the American Humane Association (AHA), though it is painfully clear that they have no qualms about bunny bumper cars. While on set, the AHA works with the Screen Actors Guild to “make certain that no animals are harmed during the filming.” But their supervision starts and ends there—the AHA does not monitor the training of animals prior to filming, and is not responsible for their fate after the shoot. Perhaps they assume that the bunnies merely win a few prizes and head home after an exciting day at the fair.

Ironically enough, the AHA is funded by none other than the Screen Actors Guild, calling into question the reliability of its final monitoring reports and standards. The AHA has fielded harsh criticism for its blatant lack of consideration for the animals it oversees. Trainers have beaten chimps in front of AHA representatives who coldly turned a blind eye to the abuse. In 2005, 2 horses died during the filming of Flicka, but the AHA immediately defended Fox (the film’s producer) and gave the movie an “acceptable” rating. As the big-budget production studios are the entities directly funding the AHA’s operations, it is entirely expected that this supposed “humane society” gives its blessing (in the form of the ‘No Animals Were Harmed’ end credit disclaimer) to the same industry it should be strictly regulating.

The factors motivating the advertising industry are glaringly obvious—employing adorable animals in commercials sells product (or in this particular commercial, promotes gambling). Add a few costumes and an addictive song to the equation, and you’ve got infatuated bloggers posting things like “OMG THAT IS THE CUTEST COMMERCIAL I EVER SEEN EVER! I HAVE 2 RABBITS AND NOW I MAKING A VIDEO OF THEM ON A UNICYCLE! AH! SO CUTE!!!!!!! ” The motives of the AHA on the other hand remain fuzzy (pun intended). If they truly cared about the well-being of these helpless animals, they would have remembered that sex sells and urged Sweet Millions to spin Playboy Bunnies on teacups instead.

Alright: you, you and you – WTF? Go get educated! It’s amazing!

As my fellow Buffy addict Suze and I discussed last night, Joss Whedon’s best and brightest star is this feminist gem that both entertained and enlightened, often without the viewer truly grasping the complex issues at play beneath the witty repartee and drama. Joss has a gift, and when he’s given free reign and a stellar cast up for the task, he creates beautiful work. It’s so easy to pull individual episodes out of sequence and see them through fresh eyes and perspectives.

In honour of a night of drunken ‘best of’ marathoning, I present a song from the musical episode, Once More, With Feeling.

Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome (DSPS) When I was five, my mum and dad took me to a sleep clinic becaus

Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome (DSPS)

When I was five, my mum and dad took me to a sleep clinic because my body clock was very wrong. I’d sleep in until about 3pm and not sleep until late at night. I think the doctor’s told them that I’d grow out of it and guess what? I never did.

Delayed sleep-phase syndrome (DSPS), also known as delayed sleep-phase disorder (DSPD) or delayed sleep-phase type (DSPT), is a circadian rhythm sleep disorder, a chronic disorder of the timing of sleep, peak period of alertness, core body temperature, hormonal and other daily rhythms relative to societal norms. People with DSPS tend to fall asleep some hours after midnight and have difficulty waking up in the morning.

I remember when I was little (this is probably how I used to watch The X-Files before I could read properly) and I used to get out of bed and Martin used to shout, “Charlotte’s out of bed!” and the thing was, it wasn’t my fault that I was awake late! My mum and dad obviously knew something wasn’t right because they took me to see someone about it. Even when I had a routine I was struggling with my sleep patterns. When I was at school and when I was at 6th form, I used come home from Chris’ at 10pm and sometimes if Martin was on the PC, I’d go straight to bed. It’d take me hours to fall asleep and I’d still have difficulty waking up in the morning. You could say that I’m awake all night because I sleep late – I’m up late because I’m awake all night. My body clock is messed up.

Often, people with the disorder report that they cannot sleep until early morning, but fall asleep at about the same time every “night”. Unless they have another sleep disorder such as sleep apnea in addition to DSPS, patients can sleep well and have a normal need for sleep. Therefore, they find it very difficult to wake up in time for a typical school or work day. If, however, they are allowed to follow their own schedules, e.g. sleeping from 4 a.m. to noon, they sleep soundly, awaken spontaneously, and do not experience excessive daytime sleepiness.
The syndrome usually develops in early childhood or adolescence,[1] and sometimes disappears in adolescence or early adulthood. Depending on the severity, it can be to a greater or lesser degree treatable. Prevalence among adults, equally distributed among women and men, is approximately 0.15% or three in 2000.

I think now that I don’t have a routine, it’s really prevalent. It says on the Wikipedia that it’s responisble for 7-10% of people’s chronic insomnia so yay me! ¬_¬ I can literally stay up all night even if I had to get up early. I do not have a regular sleep pattern. Funny thing is, when I go on holiday, I have a perfectly normal one! I can still go to bed late and wake up at a semi normal time!

The major feature of these disorders is a misalignment between the patient’s sleep pattern and the sleep pattern that is desired or regarded as the societal norm…. In most circadian rhythm sleep disorders, the underlying problem is that the patient cannot sleep when sleep is desired, needed or expected.

That last bit is true and so incredibly annoying! It’s usually when I have to get up early and just cannot sleep! The article is an interesting read and it tells you a bit more about me and my sleeping issues. There’s loads more I can quote – bits that I nodded at and it rang true with me. It’s good that I finally understand my issues! (Well, not all of them )

I would say, ’so onto other things’ but I have nothing else to say. Well, Raj and I are talking about Vincent Van Gogh and how I relate to him (I actually to, don’t mock me!!!). My mum even said that “Vincent” by Don McClean could be about me. No one appreciates me or my art! (by art, I mean my photography and writing. If you want to see my photograpy, there’s a link on the right ). Maybe people will understand me before I go mad and top myself. As the song says, no one understands me and no one is willing to. But that’s ok. I don’t need people’s approval. At least all the time.

It was pouring down earlier! I was gonna clean the bunnies out but it started and then it got dark

X-Factor time and Stacey is on. I love her, I think she’s great. I said last week that I want her or Joe to win, definitely! Her singing was good but the song was a bit dull.

Anyway, laters. Might update in a bit

Last year, I rescued Andre (3000) from a rabbit meat farm in Lanett, AL near Auburn. He was a mess and very aggressive. Needless to say, it’s been a challenge taming him. It didn’t take me long to notice that in addition to all of his ailments he was infested with fleas! I shouldn’t have been too surprised, as most animals who are kept outside fall victim to these insidious blood suckers.
I went to the pet store right away and asked the worker there which medication could be administered to bunnies. I was handed Frontline and told that would do the trick. I didn’t question the pet store employee, wrongly assuming they would know best. I put the medicine between Andre’s shoulder blades and to make a long story short-that night he was barely conscious and I was freaking out. He had licked some of the flea medicine off. I took him to the vet, where I learned Frontline can kill bunnies. It has fipronil in it which is deadly to rabbits when ingested. Advantage does not have fipronil in it and therefore safe for bunnies.
Luckily, Andre wasn’t about to let his new life as a spoiled indoor pet escape him that quickly. Thanks to Dr. Campbell at Riverview Animal Clinic after 4 days under close watch, flushing out his system, he made a full recovery. I’m almost positive that if it had happened to one of my little dwarf rabbits they would not have been able to survive.
Just remember, you can’t always trust the well meaning pet store employee when it comes down to your animals health. I’m still kicking myself for not researching it thoroughly before going to buy a product.
Go here for more facts on rabbit care.
This film is also a must have for any rabbit owner.

Long long ago in a deep darkly wooded forrest, a young rabbit girl was on a journey to find some poison berries. This was of course, when the rabbit and wolf peoples of the earth where dominant species. On her way to a particular stretch of wood where the rare poison berries grew abundantly at that time of year, the rabbitress was spotted by a fiercely strapping and viscously cunning wolf boy, now waking from a short spell of hibernation and achingly hungry. Quiet and cautiously he stalked her on her path, drawing near and nearer to her as she trod hopingly along the forrest floor. As he stalked closer and closer he became more and more enchanted with the quirks of her merry bunny way, singing to herself quietly and jumping merrily with her fluffy bunny bottom shaking adorably behind her as she went. He prowled and stalked, closer and closer until anti-climactically he howled out rather shyly, “pardon me miss, do you know the time of day per chance?” In a sudden move to make small talk as apposed to devouring her. She looked up at the sun to check the time, confused and rather taken aback by his sudden emergence from the wood, but as she looked back to him she became entranced by the handsome lack of ferociousness in the charming look he gave her. Forgetting his question she respond timidly, “excuse me”, he then burst forth with some meaningless small talk about the great abundance and variety of mushrooms abound in the forrest that year. Before the two of them knew what had happened they had fallen madly in love, and tried desperately to conceive a child together out of the immense adoration that without warning had befallen them, being only slightly saddened by the lack of conception. Their love for each other was so grand and profound that soon all the other bunny and wolf peoples got wind of their great and epic love for each other, and began more commonly seeking out such previously unthinkable relations. Specialty establishments began popping up all over the forest, catering specifically to this new niche of singles night life. Eventually it seemed, the trend grew so common for bunny and wolf peoples to mate, despite the obvious lack of offspring, that to see a bunny with a bunny or a wolf with a wolf, was considered ultra passe and unfashionable, and as the years went by a general decline in the genetic diversity required to continue each species as such occurred, so they slowly devolved into what we now know as the common bunny and wolf. Though every now and then in the declining forests, one will see a bunny and a wolf getting on rather oddly well, and those in the know smile at the remembrance of the old wives tale about the great love between the bunny girl and the wolf boy.
