Been a while since I have posted in here but managed to make 3 posts today. Last one being the need

Been a while since I have posted in here but managed to make 3 posts today. Last one being the need for decompression from burning man. If you are finding yourself in this position, I might be able to help.

What is decompression? I did not experience this my first year but did my second. After leaving BRC and burning man, I found myself wanting to talk with people about my experiences. I found myself planning and thinking about next year and I was not even home yet. I tried to talk to my co-workers but they were not there and really did not understand my experiences. I had this fun and excitement to share but no one to share it with. I called friends I was there with and tried talking to them on the phone but works over a phone was not enough.

Why decompression? All of the things I just mentioned is why decompression. Decompression events allow you to hang around fellow burners and just talk. You can share stories about what you saw, they saw, or wished you had done. Can also talk about ideas for the next year.

My plan is to return home for a large but private decompression event. Private in that we are not advertising it as an official event but still open to anyone who wishes to attend.

Your decompression plans? I recommend going to the official site, Burningman.com Decompression. There they list a lot of decompression events as they come up and are reported in. Your next option is to get involved with local burners in your area. BurningMan.com has a whole section of events happening year round. Other options is to find blogs, such as this one, and just read. Here is a more suited one at Burningman.com that might explain it a little better.

I’ve had uncanny bad luck with cellphones for the past 3-4 months. I had a new phone, a nice Nokia with a camera and an MP3 player. Cracked the screen. Went back to my Razr from 2006. Cracked the screen on that.

Now, I’m still into my contract for at least a year, so replacing the phone seemed like it was going to be a pain in the wallet. IE no cheap upgrade on the horizon.

My plan was simple. Go to the T-Mobile store, explain my situation, and ask for the absolute cheapest phone in the store. if not the freest phone in the store.

I had no expectations that this was going to result in anything but me spending 75 bucks on some shitty phone that I wasn’t going to like.

And then something magical happened. The sales rep told me something that wasn’t in his best interest. He told me to go buy a prepaid/disposable phone . A ‘burner’ in The Wire parlance.

Winning idea. I went to target and picked up a Nokia 1661. $18.

Prepaid cellphones take regular SIM cards. So if you are ever in a similar pinch, just grab a disposable cellphone and drop your old SIM in.

When the Blanchester, Ohio plant of Consolidated Ceramics Products Incorportated (CCPI) decided to update their curing oven, they looked to Stelter & Brinck. According to Mike Gasaway, Director of Engineering, “Using S&B for the oven project was a no brainer; Stelter & Brinck is always the first company I think of when I need a new oven!” Gasaway has “been dealing with Stelter & Brinck for 20 years”. He explains, “[S&B] has provided the highest quality work, year after year!”

CCPI has purchased numerous process heat systems from Stelter & Brinck over the years, but this project was unique. S&B had done everything from design to start-up for CCPI in the past. But this time, due to budget limitations and a surplus of on-site labor, CCPI asked S&B to design, manufacture the highly-technical parts, and provide instructions so they could assemble and install the oven themselves. Gasaway stated that “Stelter & Brinck’s engineers were not only readily available when I had questions, but the engineering support during this project was, as always absolutely incredible!” He goes onto say, “S&B’s engineering is top-notch!”

As a whole, Gasaway admits, “this project was out of the ordinary, as it required more collaboration between CCPI and Stelter & Brinck than usual. However, because of S&B’s open communication, I knew we’d form a great team- and we did!” Not only that, but according to Gasaway, “since the installation of S&B’s equipment, we’ve had a 65% utility reduction of the old oven; we have the numbers recorded to prove it!” He goes on, “I am very happy with S&B’s work on this project; the entire process couldn’t have gone better! Thanks to the S&B crew for a great job, once again!”

No, I’m not yankin your chain. A few days ago I was on the computer in the living room and I began to hear a tapping sound. I went into the kitchen and saw some black peices of unknown substance in the floor in front of the stove. I went to look a little closer and saw from the crack at the top of the stove beneath the burners that more black substance was being pushed out. I realized it was a mouse. I swept it up and didn’t think much more about it.

The next morning there was much more burned guk and at the very bottom of the stove were all sorts of treasures the mouse obviously wasn’t in need of. There was a pencil, 3 crayons, some beads, a small peice of cardboard, and many dust bunnies.

Today there is more burned guk and another pencil with a flavoring of a pinch of dust bunnies.

I thought about getting rid of the little guy…then I realized he/she is cleaning places I can’t reach without lugging the whole stove out of its comfortable spot. So who am I to complain? I won’t look a gift mouse in the mouth.

Here is a link to an article that was featured in a newsletter published by the Paper, Film & Foil Converter Magazine.

In this article, a first-class laminator, Bendtox, Inc. explains why they are so successful. This article mentions some of the equipment found in their facility. Among their equipment is an oxidizer, built by Stelter & Brinck. Below is what was said in this article about Stelter & Brinck’s oxidizer.

“Bondtex also utilizes an oxidizer for emission control. It was manufactured by Stelter & Brink, and Hightower reports that it incinerates 99% of the emissions, leaving very little to be released into the atmosphere.”
