Last night I was waiting for my bus when some guy told me “Hey baby, can I be your umbrella?” I was too dumbfounded to give any type of response except to completely ignore him. I wish I had a quicker reaction and smacked him with my actual umbrella.

What bothered me about this is that he continued walking as he made this comment. It was as if he’s conditioned to say whatever crap he can think of to random women and doesn’t care how or if the women react. It’s really annoying.

I actually deserve a trophy or something, perhaps a medal, for my MOTY moment today! Today was my second day in my new career as a “stay at home Mom”. I have been successful at getting all three kids to the bus stop at 7:40am even today in the pouring rain. We all walked down with our umbrellas. You would think that would be the area that I could claim a MOTY award for, right? NOPE… it’s the pick-up at 3:27pm that I have been less than stellar at these past couple of days. Yesterday, I was driving back from a lunch date and pushed it to the limit. I arrived just as the bus was shutting it’s door. Thankfully the doors opened and Reilly stepped out. I should let you know, as a first grader the bus driver does not let a student out unless someone authorized is there to pick them up. The past few months I have gotten two phone calls from the bus company that let us know the bus was waiting for us. Nicole sprinted down. Okay, so today, different story…. I was sitting at the table helping my Mom with a business thing and we discussed getting Reilly at the bus stop. We went back and forth on who was going to get him. Was I going to stay and keep working on her stuff OR was I going to run down and she was going to watch Shea. Well, three minutes before the bus was to arrive, my Mom decided to walk down with Shea. Apparently they were not quick enough because the bus drove away before they got there. I had to jump in the car and try to track them down. I called the bus company and tried to find the bus – speeding the whole time. Thankfully at the end of town there was another stop and I was able to get him there. I apologized profusely to the bus driver and got Reilly off the bus. Wow… I suck at this. Thankfully Reilly thought it was cool to be on the bus for the next several stops. I was no further down in his book.

babae: hindi na talaga ako sasama sa Grand friendship chuva-chuva na yan…..kakaasar..last na talaga yung kagabi…

blu: talagang last na yan!….kaw kasi ayaw mo pang magtanda….

babae: Ewan!..ano ba ito pati cellphone ko lowbat….patawag naman….

blu: hello! wala na akong load no…maghanap ka ng load station dyan…. 

babae: hello!….hello!….Lo!….namputsa naman…ay yung bata baka mahulog!

 blu: bata?….

babae: miss na kita…kelan ka ba bibisita Andrei?

blu: Hay…hirap talaga sundan ang mga iniisip ng mga babae…

ito ay totoong pangyayari habang naghihintay ako ng bus kanina, kaya lang merong kakaiba dito sa tagpong ito. Mahulaan nyo kaya? Ano kaya ang pangalan ng babae? Makihalo at makisawsaw na sa usaping ito. Kung alam nyo ang sagot, aba’y magpost na sa comment section. Tingnan ko lang kung gaano kalawak ang imagination nyo.

kakaiba nga!…. kasi hindi ko naman kausap yung babae…sinasagot ko lang sa aking isipan ang kanyang monologue. May mga nakakuha ng name nya  ANGELA (anghel)…tama kayo!  lahat ng monologue nya ay may kaugnayan sa mga nangyari sa akin lately..madalas ang mga anghel ay bumababa sa lupa upang sabihin sa atin ang mensahe ng Diyos sa paraang di natin inaasahan. Kailangan lang magmatyag ng mataman sa iyong kapaligiran…tama si desertfishing may hang-over pa nga ang mga posts ko lately tungkol sa mga angel.

subukan nyo kayang ipikit ang iyong mga mata at alalahanin ang monologue ni Angela ….may mensahe rin ba sa iyo?

wheew! ito lamang ang ilan sa mga katanungan na pwede mong umpisahang pagnilayan…

One day, at a bus stop there was a girl who was wearing a skintight miniskirt. When the bus arrived and it was her turn to get on, she realized that her skirt was so tight she couldn’t get her foot high enough to reach to step.

Thinking it would give her enough slack to raise her leg, she reached back and unzipped her skirt a little. She still could not reach the step. Embarrassed, she reached back once again to unzip it a little more. Still, she couldn’t reach the step.

So, with her skirt zipper halfway down, she reached back and unzipped her skirt all the way. Thinking that she could get on the step now, she lifted up her leg only to realize that she still couldn’t reach the step.

So, seeing how embarrassed the girl was, the man standing behind her put his hands around her waist and lifted her up on to the first step of the bus. The girl turned around furiously and said, “How dare you touch my body that way, I don’t even know you!”

Shocked, the man says, “Well, ma’am, after you reached around and unzipped my fly three times, I kinda figured that we were friends.”

Here is a beautiful old building in Newcastle – Custom’s House. Across the road from the Newcastle Railway Station, this wonderful building is a landmark in it’s own right. Sadly, another old building in Newcastle that could be considered beautiful has been run into the ground so to speak – the Post Office.

Custom’s House is now occupied by a restaurant and what a beautiful location – right on the foreshore of Newcastle’s picturesque parkland area.

Whenever I catch a bus to Newcastle – I spend a bit of time here in the park in front of Custom’s House. The bus stop for the return trip (and the arrival stop) is right next to the train station and opposite this magnificent building and parkland area. It is a great little spot to pass the time while waiting for the bus.

Another weekend of messed up subways. Riders seem resigned, almost used to it. The sun came out for a few minutes, and there was no rain. If it was the middle of winter and freezing cold, everyone at the bus stop would be complaining big time.

I’m taking a bit of a break from my super secret projects while they are on someone else’s desk. Huzzah! So now I’m onto more practical things like playing 3 hours of Lego Star Wars on the Wii. Yeah, not very productive but I just can’t say no to my nephew. He stumbles into my bedroom in the morning, throws open the door and somehow manages to speak the words, “Will you play Star Wars with me?” while narrowly avoiding a head on collision with my wall. I think we’d all hit fewer walls if our eyes were open a bit wider.

So. . . this afternoon while two of my nephews are going on a field trip with their preschool to a cheese factory, I will be reading Les Miserable until it’s time to meet a niece at her bus stop. She’s a big 1st grader, now.

Have a great weekend! I’ll most likely not pop in again since I have a fabulous endoscopy scheduled for tomorrow. Wish the doctors luck!

Ik was blij te zien dat het goed gaat met de Chinezen, in die zin, dat de dreigende obesitasplaag die ik 5 jaar geleden begon vast te stellen, lijkt mee te vallen. Zeker in Shanghai is de jeugd over het algemeen opnieuw haar slanke Chinese zelve. Uiteraard zijn de Macdo’s, de kfc’s en aanverwanten nog altijd bijzonder populair, maar ik heb toch ook veel jong volk gezien in de Chinese restaurants.
Ik heb trouwens nooit begrepen waarom je de Chinese keuken zou laten staan voor geïmporteerde vette troep die duurder is. In Shanghai heb je voor een 15 euro (daarbuiten voor ca. 8 euro) drie à vier schotels + twee grote flessen bier. Het eten is één van de redenen waarom ik zo graag naar ginder afreis. En ondanks een redelijk hoge voedselconsumptie de afgelopen weken (je moet ervan profiteren nietwaar, hier in B. is goed Chinees eten niet te krijgen), ben ik geen grammetje aangekomen!

Waiting for the bus. A gaptoothed older man looks me over, smirking; I keep reading the paper.

“You married?” he asks.

“No.”

“You have children?”

“No.”

He nods, and then—

“You’d have bigger breasts if you had children.”

The 22A comes and he gets on it. “Eeeeey,” he says, moving to shake my hand before he gets on. He grabs my hand before I can jerk it away; then, grabs me in a tight embrace and kisses my cheek. He smells like something sour.

I wait for my bus. It’s cold.
