As we struggle through this recession, everyone is being careful. Careful not to think that things are returning to normal too soon. But when is the right time to look at buying a business. If you have lost your job, worried that you might lose your job, or becoming unhappy working for someone else, this may be the time to look at finally buying that business you always dreamed about. Owning your own business can provide you with the freedom to control your own future and have the satisfaction of being part the ‘great American dream’.

Why now? Why, when we are in the deepest recession sine the 1920’s? Why, when so many people are out of work and we see closed business everywhere we look? There are plenty of reasons to look at buying your own business now.

Competition has gone away
With all those empty stores and offices, a lot of businesses have gone away, but the majority of their customers have not. Undercapitalized, mismanaged, or marginal businesses did not survive leaving the market wide open for the goods and services they provided.

Banks, although more selective, have money to loan with conventional or the expanded SBA loan availability. In addition, savings are at record setting levels with that money sitting on the sidelines waiting for an opportunity to invest in a good venture.

Gold hits record high beyond $1,180 per ounce

LONDON (AFP) – Gold prices on Wednesday hit record highs nearing 1,183 dollars as a weak greenback and inflationary fears fuelled demand for the precious metal. Prices also won support from a report that India was mulling the purchase of more IMF gold reserves, they added.

The precious metal hit 1,182.95 dollars an ounce in afternoon trade on the London Bullion Market, after striking a series of historic peaks in recent days and weeks.

Gold is setting new highs because of “the (weak) dollar … (and) also rumors (in the) Financial Chronicle that India is ready to buy more IMF gold,” VTB Capital commodities analyst Andrey Kryuchenkov told AFP. “1,200 dollars is still in sight, being the next target.”

A struggling dollar makes the precious metal cheaper for buyers using other currencies, stimulating demand for the metal and in turn pushing up gold prices. Kryuchenkov added that gold futures were winning support also from a report in India’s Financial Chronicle newspaper that claimed the emerging nation was mulling the purchase of more IMF gold.

The price of gold has rocketed since the start of November when India’s central bank bought 200 tonnes of the metal from the International Monetary Fund.Fears about a future spike to inflation have also fuelled demand, with gold viewed as a “safe-haven” investment in times of economic uncertainty.”Gold prices continue to set fresh highs, buoyed by strong investor demand and a change in the official sector appetite for” the metal, said Barclays Capital analyst Suki Cooper.

Gold Higher On Reports India Could Buy the Rest of the IMF’s Hoard (GLD)

Surprise! Gold is on the move again, following reports that India is open to buying more gold from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) after buying 200 tonnes for $6.7 billion on November 3.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) may well buy IMF’s remaining hoard of 201.3 tonnes on acceptable terms, which are now under negotiation, according to reports in India’s Financial Chronicle.

A government official said that the additional purchase would depend on the “successful pitching by RBI.” “RBI is an independent body, and the government does not interfere in its affairs. It will get the gold if its bid is successful and at the price it has offered.” said the official.

Spot gold is up to $1180.80 in early trading today, up from yesterday’s close of $1168.20.

Everybody has a story.  People that are in any business have a story about that business.  Maybe they don’t tell it much, but they have a story.  To people that are in network marketing, their story may be one of their most important tools.  It is such an important tool, they many people in network marketing may obsess about it.  They think there their story is as exciting or entertaining as it should be.  They are missing the point.  People that ask to hear their story really aren’t expecting to be entertained or “wowed,” they really just want to know how you got into the business, what has happened since you got into the business, and why you are still in the business.

Your story should start with how you got into the business.  This part of the story should include why you were looking for something like network marketing in the first place.  People can usually relate to the many reasons that people get into network marketing and will be much more likely to relate why they are thinking about getting into the business.

The next part of the story is what has happened since you got into the business.  Are you still glad you got in? Have you had some victories that stand out?  Has the business been what you expected?  How do you like the products?  While you may not want to talk about all these areas, you should say something about how things are going.

End your story with where you hope to take this business.  Talk a little about why are still in the business.  Most importantly, convey the fact that you are happy doing what you are doing and that you wouldn’t want to be doing anything else.

How short or how long each part of your story is depends on what you want to emphasize. If you have done really well since you got into the business and it has changed your life maybe that should be the longest part of your story.  If you first found out about the business or got into the business through some interesting circumstances—and you are now really glad it happened that way—maybe that should be the longest part of your story.

Practice telling your story and really believe in it.  People will immediately notice if you are not enthusiastic. Don’t embellish the story (it is too hard to remember what you said), just believe in what you are doing and the story will sell itself.

For the record, we are not affiliated with the company selling the shirts. But we certainly wish we were, because they are gonna sell a pile of these.

I think this is just great!

But I will tell you now, a look behind the maker and distributor of this shirt, “The Propagandist” and “Freshjive”, tells me that I won’t be parting with any of my money for their profit.

The two outfits seem to be a little out there in their perceptions.  For them “Hope Is Fading Fast” because they see President Obama as being just like President Bush, and for them, hope is fading fast” because the liberal messiah is not as liberal as they “hoped” for.  

So……. sorry, but my dough goes for that which is made in America (whatever is still made in America) and to those who are not trying to promote anarchy or socialism.

But in this great capitalist, democracy of ours,  perhaps a knockoff is in the works? I am pretty sure that President Obama has not yet patented the word he used to describe himself and his ascendency to the presidency, “Hope”.  I am also sure that ”Freshjive” and ”The Propagandist” have not patented or gotten their own copywrite on the already, Associated Press copywritten  image that artist  Shepherd Fairey stole inorder to paint his iconic emblem of the presidential campaign, in the first place.     I see no reason why others can’t make similar, shirts, keyword “similar”.

 If I could only find all of my old silk screening accessories, I’d be on it like on white on rice. 

Now if Mike Steele could start worrying more about fundraising for the RNC than the credit he wants and the press he is seeking, he’d be having “similar” shirts made up and sold to bring in some additional profits for next year’s midterm elections  (see story here).

But since Mike Steele is  busy firing RNC staffers because he feels they haven’t done enough to get him the press that gives him all the credit for the recent Republican successes in the ‘09 election cycle, I wont be counting on that.  So I am looking into my own version of “Hope Is Fading Fast”.  Perhaps one that has the POLITICS 24/7 logo on the back.   If I can work that one out, as a Republican, with whatever profit there is, I will donate half to the 2010 campaigns of the most deserving candidates and as a proud pro-capitalist American , keep the other half for myself.

The White House maintains that the funding saved the country from slipping into a depression and fueled the 3.5% growth in the economy in the third quarter.

Gold to Make New Highs Above $2000, Says Commodity Maven Frank Holmes

Gold is likely to make a new inflation-adjusted high before its current bull move ends. That’s the word from Frank Holmes the man behind the Morningstar 5-star rated U.S. Global Investors Gold and Precious Metals Fund, which is up 33% in the past year.

The journey to new highs will comes with bumps along the road. Holmes predicts several 10% price swings in the near future. But, he firmly believes negative interest rates combined with massive deficits is a recipe for gold to shine.

What’s his price target?

Holmes predicts gold can easily reach $2300 – the inflation-adjusted high it reached in the early 1980s.

Even-though he is a gold bull, Holmes says investors should only put 10% of their assets in gold; half in bullion and the other half in stocks.

And, he preaches caution when selecting gold stocks, recommending only buying those companies that “respect value per share.” Meaning, avoid the names that may need to raise capital through new stock offerings. Stocks that make his grade include RandGold, and two royalty companies, Royal Gold and Franco Nevada.

How many times have you heard someone complain that they joined the wrong business? You may have even heard people saying that the business they joined was just a scam, because they didn’t make any money at it. True, there are scams but let’s just say that you shouldn’t always believe what you hear. The fact is that the success of your network marketing business begins with you.

The fact is that the business is not going to create success for you. You have to create success for the business. You are going to have to be motivated enough to get your network marketing business running and then, be determined up to see it through.  The downfall to many new businesses in this industry is not the business.  It is the owner.

A common occurrence is someone new getting into the business and they don’t realize everything that is involved. If you are new to the business, it is up to you to ask your sponsor for help. While in the beginning, your sponsor may call and ask if you have any questions, they are not going to babysit you.  However, if you portray yourself as someone who is very serious about the business and want to learn as much as you can from them, they are going to see this and do whatever they can to help you.  After all, your success will help create their own.

You must also put the time and effort in and this includes putting the time and effort into learning about the business. Those who jump into it and think they already know everything are simply setting themselves up for a fall.  There are many classes available for those who want to learn more advanced techniques in marketing. Some may be free, but be willing to invest some money in a good marketing course and  you’ll find it will not only help you to learn the techniques, but it will motivate you, as well.

The next time you hear someone saying they were scammed by a network marketing business, think about it. How much time did that person actually spend on their business? Did they have enough motivation? If you are going in to the business, you must realize that the only way it is going to be successful is if you make it successful.
