The Baltimore Development Corporation (BDC) revealed the four contenders for ownership of The Senator and their planned uses today:

• The Lofts at The Senator Theatre - JR Owens Corporation (JR Owens)
  A mixed-use development that includes the renovation of the existing movie theatre along with new construction of 24 two bedroom/two bath rental apartments on three floors, 27 secure parking spaces in the basement of the new construction and existing retail space.
• The Senator Theatre, LLC – James “Buzz” Cusack, Jr. and Kathleen C. Cusack (owners of The Charles Theatre)
  proposes to maintain the building as a single screen movie theatre, restaurant &
  crepe shop with alternates
  1) that would provide for a second screen & an arts education area in the approximate 2,000 square foot triangle to the south of the theatre, &
  2) a sliding glass door system in the front of the restaurant.
• The Theatre Project PUPKIDS, Inc. – Noch-Noch, Productions (Enoch Cook III)
  The proposal suggests the mixture of live performances & cinemaplex attractions simulating a staged Vaudeville Revue to attract interest in puppetry & puppeteers.
• WTMD… At The Senator – Senator Theatre Redevelopment, LLC (Towson University, Robert L. Caret, President)
  WTMD-FM, Towson University’s public radio station proposes to relocate to the Senator Theatre through a historically sensitive renovation of the interior, a new addition to the south side of the building as well as an expansion of existing space on the north side of the theatre. The Senator will be home to WTMD’s daily operations, as well as a schedule of films, educational activities, concerts and community events designed to reach people from all over the region. The station will connect and promote the events taking place in the theatre.

Apparently the previous information that David Cordish has submitted a proposal was erroneous. Our apologies for whatever confusion they may have caused.

H1N1 or any other strain of the flu that everyone seems to have caught this year. Stay away.

I don’t know how many times I can say it.

8. The Bump-it
I’m over this look, and what the hell? How is this a real thing?

7. Any douchey daddy drama in the celeb world.

6. Ugg boots
I don’t care that they’re comfy. They’re hideous and o-v-e-r.

5. Twilight
And New Moon. And the actors that I want to slap whenever I see their faces. And all that “I hate being famous” from Kristen Stewart. And the relationship rumors. And anything pertaining to this useless franchise.

4. Any and all Taylor Swift music
The girl is officially over-rated. Pretty sure I’ve got Kanye on my side on this one.

3. Ridiculous cleanses
Particularly the Blueprint cleanse. I don’t understand why anyone would starve themselves and suck down juice for three days to get cleansed… only to down an entire pizza the moment the whole cleansing process is over. Ughhh.

2. The amount of calories I’m going to consume on Thursday.
Which, by the way, is an average of 5,000 calories. Do you even know how many hours that is on the elliptical? Well don’t tell me. I don’t even want to think about it.

Je ne sais même pas par où commencer tant le concept est dingue. Parce que jusqu’à présent, Dieu régnait partout sauf sur Internet, Islam Online propose un pèlerinage numérique à tous ceux qui redoutent la grippe A, qui n’ont pas réussi à obtenir leur droit d’entrée sur cette Terre Sainte ou qui lisent le Coran sur leur netbook. Pèlerinage réalisé via Second Life, univers virtuel en 3D, et exemple même du buzz mort né et de la fausse révolution qui a affolé les publicitaires et les médias pendant une demie journée (en bref, le pendant technologique de la Tecktonik).

Il est donc désormais possible d’accomplir l’un des 5 piliers de l’Islam tout en restant confortablement assis devant son ordinateur (l’écran tourné vers l’Est quand même, faut pas abuser), le tout au rythme de “Just Be“, morceau techno de DJ Tiesto. De la djelabbah au bonnet blanc, en passant par le tapis de prière pixélisé, tout est fourni au pèlerin 2.0 pour son Hajj virtuel. Here In The Dry Ice has one of my favourite note sequences to play and while I like the track, it seems as though I didn’t care enough about the note sequence to simply take my time with the piece. The production is pretty ham-fisted and I’ve tinkered with different, more methodical versions since completing this track so stay tuned.

Rich Copley of the Lexington Herald-Leader wrote up an excellent article on Witness. Here’s an excerpt, but follow the link for the whole article, which has loads of insight and participant perspective.

The door bears the phrase “Home Sweet Home” on a red heart; behind it are three rooms.

In the top room, Jill is a puppet with strings on her arms and a sign in her hands that says “courage,” because that, and a guardian angel, are what sustained her during hours of sitting in the turquoise chair listening to Jack’s verbal abuse.

The second floor is covered with eyes, representing how Jack would spy on Jill, and pictures of the gun he would hold to her head.

The bottom floor is filled with word clouds containing the expletives Jack would yell at Jill and the phrase “I love you to death.”

“He would say that, and it made no sense because death has nothing to do with love,” Jill M. says, showing The House That Jack Built, which she created in collaboration with Lexington artist Pat Gerhard as part of the Lexington Art League’s project Witness.

50’s BISD Projected To Move 160K First Week/Two Weeks..So Ok if this happen right this to me have to be the most saddest thing that happened to hip hop this year.Here’s some reasons

1.Fif’s so called Fans- How come when his album dropped you people that claimed to be his fan did’nt scrap up 10 bucks to buy the album. It’s bad enough the album came with 2 full lengths movies that is actually good.What artist you know included two movies in into their album package. 10 or 11 bucks is not alot of money folks yall spend more money on one meal….c’mon son …yall know how much work fif put in this album yall should’ve supported your boy regardless….point black…..Where’s the real fans at 

2.The End Of An Era- By BISD flopping it’s safe to say one Gangsta Rap is no longer relevant and two people really not checking for 50 no more. I guess his time is really just up and  his buzz is gone outside of This is 50.com.His real and stans and stand can’t even stick up for him no more.Fif’s no longer one of the hottest rappers in the game after 7 years.There’s actually proof now.

3. Soundscan- Do you really have to sell out to sell records? It seems like if you a rapper and want big numbers you have to change your style of records and sound to fit in with the formula of what’s hot. Or your single and album is gonna flop regardless.Fif is one of the few rappers that stay true to himself his whole career and had big success in the industry.Without competely selling out and changing his style. Sure he made commerial singles set  to reach the masses. Some was a hit and some failed.People was also complaing that his Curtis album was too commerial.But overall he sticked to his guns and put out the records true to him.

Shout out to Interscope for fucking everything up and not pushing the album. I bet if the album wasn’t leaked a month earlier the numbers would’ve been higher.

SO WHAT’S NEXT FOR FIF? What he’s gonna do.If i was him i would chill come up with a new formula *a more personal and humanlistic forumla*that people of all kinds can relate too.. drop 3 or 4 new mixtapes start hopping on hot artist tracks like Drake and…damn i forgot fif beefing with just about everyone who’s buzz is high…Well every artist he’s somewhat cool with… try to break ice or end beef with jay,wayne,kayne  make some memorable songs and hope to bounce back

Het is de conclusie van Frank De Graeve (Quadrant Communications) na een online bevraging van 217 beroepsjournalisten. Hij baseert zijn uitspraak onder meer op deze opvallende bevindingen:

- 38% van de Belgische journalisten is niet terug te vinden op Facebook.
- Circa 9% gebruikt Twitter voor beroepsdoeleinden.
- Ruim de helft (57,1%) gebruikt nooit RSS-feeds.
- Bijna de helft (46,2%) bezoekt nooit blogs die verbonden zijn met de bedrijven waar ze over schrijven.

Ook goed om te weten …

- 6 op de 10 journalisten vindt dat ze te weinig exclusieve informatie krijgen.
- Meer dan de helft (56%) heeft het gevoel dat persberichten louter worden geschreven met commerciële doelstellingen voor ogen (en dus geen noemenswaardig nieuws bevatten).
- Meer dan de helft van de respondenten schrijft maximaal tien artikels per maand op basis van een persbericht. Terwijl de gemiddelde journalist naar schatting 200 persberichten per maand in zijn mailbox vindt.

Ik vermoed dat in de event- en entertainmentsector het gebruik van social media bij journalisten hoger ligt omdat de content in de entertainmentbusiness zich misschien net iets meer leent voor het internet.

De resultaten van deze enquête zijn alleszins de moeite om te onthouden.

Le coincidenze a volte sono tutto.

Era una serata di fine Settembre, e mi trovavo in una città per me nuova.L’unica persona che conoscevo in quella città  (fino a quel momento) e io avevamo avuto una lite la notte precedente, per cui quella sera , dopo aver terminato la giornata non volevo neppure uscire e andare direttamente a nanna, ma all’ultimo avevo cambiato idea e mi ero avventurata in un posto carino trovato on the way.

L’avevo notato entrando, ma come d’abitudine mi ero seduta dalla parte opposta del bancone, facendo finta di nulla  (anzi, a dire la verità guardando la squadra di chef che si vedevano attraverso le vetrate che davano direttamente sulla cucina… parevano una squadra di modelli ma tenendo le “antenne” ben tese, soprattutto perchè mi sentivo “osservata” a mia volta ( e non dagli chef) e mi veniva fin quasi da ridere ; nel frattempo il locale si riempiva e svuotava a onde, ma io e il “nemico” non perdevamo il contatto 

Ho sentito che parlava al telefono e non parlava in Italiano ( TE PAREVA…) , e anche se non riuscivo a cogliere l’accento, di sicuro non era Oirish ( in quel caso avrei dovuto scappare via…)

A quel punto la mia curiosità era aumentata, ma ovviamente mi serviva un pretesto per iniziare la conversazione…e non mi veniva nessuna idea…

…Ero arrivata alla tisana (gentilmente offerta dalla casa) dopo aver mangiato un cervo intero cercando una scusa per intavolare discorso, e  avevo deciso di gettare la spugna e di andarmene dopo qualche minuto, quando ecco che l’uomo misterioso pone una domanda al proprietario del locale   su un formaggio particolare  con del cumino che gli aveva appena fatto assaggiare, dicendo  che anche in Olanda ne hanno uno simile ed è buonissimo.

Prendo la palla al balzo e mi inserisco nella conversazione dicendo che anche io l’ho assaggiato in Olanda e che mi era piaciuto e  chiedo all’uomo misterioso da che parte dell’Olanda arriva (rotto il ghiaccio…evvai!!!).

L’uomo misterioso prima di rispondermi mi  chiede gentilmente se può sedersi vicino e da allora iniziamo a chiaccherare (senza neppure presentarci…) della serie chiaccherata random.. .e quando ci siamo zittiti per un attimo… ci siamo accorti che eran passate tre ore e che eravamo rimasti gli unici clienti dentro al locale e che il proprietario stava spazzando per terra e aspettava solo che ce ne andassimo per chiudere bottega…

(nel frattempo ci eravamo presentati… e avevo scoperto che anche se in olanda ci vive… le  sue origini celtiche  sono ben chiare a partire dal nome…)

Non contenti abbiam proseguito la serata in uno dei pochi bar ancora aperti a quell’ora in quella cittadina, per poi continuare con una simpatica camminata per le viuzze deserte, visto che la serata pareva una serata primaverile…e alle ore 3…  (con 3 ore di ritardo) ho fatto come Cenerentola e gli ho detto Goodnight (anche se avrei voluto fare l’alba), e lui mi ha chiesto SE avessi voluto rivederlo ancora la serata successiva.

La notte del nostro incontro, non ho dormito molto, ma pensato molto… perchè non mi era mai capitato di incontrare una persona con cui mi sono sentita subito così…connessa…e perchè, nel corso delle nostre chiaccherate senza capo ne coda e  senza un ordine…ci siamo resi conto di avere molte cose in comune… a partire dal giorno del compleanno… all’amore per la Nz ,  alcuni interessi molti simili, dei tratti caratteriali etc etc etc… e perchè per la prima volta dopo TANTO TEMPO…mi ponevo di fronte a una persona senza filtri…just the way I am (tanto non l’avrei più rivisto in vita mia…e sia io che lui avevamo tanto bisogno di parlare )

Ci siamo rivisti anche la serata successiva, ma alle ore 23 oro già a nanna…l’atmosfera non era quella giusta, e forse dopo aver parlato troppo la sera prima, forse eravamo entrambi imbarazzati (o almeno…io lo ero…) e al momento di salutarci quasi quasi andavamo senza neppure dirci ciao…  lui aveva borbottato qualcosa del tipo “sai, io per lavoro vengo spesso in italia, sarebbe bello vederci qualche volta  e io gli avevo risposto senza convinzione ” ma si, dai, ci rivedremo”, convinta che tanto non ci saremmo più visti.

Recentemente sono tornata  nella città dove ci siamo conosciuti, e pure nello stesso locale, rendendomi conto che QUELLA era la serata in cui dovevamo conoscerci e QUELLO era l’esatto momento dove le nostre strade avrebbero dovuto incrociarsi. La serata prima sarebbe stato troppo presto   e la serata dopo sarebbe stata troppo tardi…

The BDC’s Request For Proposals (RFP) closed yesterday at noon.

According an article by Michael Sragow and Chris Kaltenbach of The Baltimore Sun, here are the known contenders:

• James “Buzz” Cusack of The Charles Theatre and recently renominated member of the city’s CHAP
• Towson University’s WTMD radio station
• Developer  David Cordish (most recently in the news for seeking to place a slots casino at Arundel Mills) Information that David Cordish had submitted a proposal was incorrect. Please see the November 23 blog entry for the official participants list. Our apologies for whatever confusion this may have caused.
  

The fourth party is not yet public, but is expected to be revealed Monday.

Particular points of interest to us in this article:

Kim Clark, executive vice president of the BDC, said Friday that there would be a public presentation of the proposals…
“The worst case would be if the public falls in love with one of them, and that one is not financially viable,” she said. “In my mind, that would be horrible.”

Cordish, who has repeatedly said he “would run the theater as a public service or a trust,” confirmed that he filed a proposal, but did not provide any details.

Last we heard, publicly, from the Cordish group they stated they would only step into the BDC process “if the city is stuck“. Everyone is entitled to change their mind, of course, but the fact that no details are offered causes nearly as much concern as the secrecy of the fourth proposal submission. We will be very interested to see what the Cordish Company has in mind!

Cusack… would keep the Senator as a single-screen movie theater. But he would also add a restaurant on its north side… and a crepes shop on its south side.

“I’m also talking to a children’s-services provider… about using the auditorium for children’s activities from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., when the theater is closed.” According to Cusack, a triangular area in the southern part of the property contains enough space for another screen… operating it would require a partner who would use that space for other purposes, such as art education.

While the thought of keeping The Senator a single screen movie house sounds wonderful, it’s been shown time and again that the model doesn’t hold up in this day and age… Can a private owner keep it going by renting the spaces out to restaurateurs and educational programs?
