Chewie and Bryan are more than film and television buffs

They’ve made their love of media into their careers, and this love was showcased in all the details of the wedding. We’re talking Dr. Who cake and centerpieces, theme of Game of Thrones for the recessional and friends even brought light sabers for the reception. As soon as those came out, we quickly brought the bride and groom to the silo of the Byron Colby Barn to capture the moment. Before the ceremony, we trekked to a nearby prairie hill and horse barn for photos. Lizz told the rain to stop, and it did. Chewie and Bryan even stepped across a puddle and into the grasses to get to the location, what (storm) troopers! The result were beautiful portraits of this fun, energetic couple in a lovely setting under a dramatic stormy sky. May the force be with these two forever!

It was a pleasure to spend my last wedding of the year with Emilie and Josh. I met them in citizens park, in barrington for a first look and photos before their ceremony. Then we headed to Byron Colby Barn to dance the night away! Congrats to you two and thanks to everyone for making my 2012 wedding season my best yet!

My very good friends, Amanda and Paul were married on August 28th, 2011 in a very nice ceremony in Wacounda, IL. The reception was at the beautiful Byron Colby Barn in Grayslake, IL.

emma and ross: married!

Emma and Ross, who I photographed back in July, got married this past Sunday at the Byron Colby Barn. The barn is absolutely lovely, and Emma did such a fantastic job putting everything together. All of the details were handmade, full of all kinds of sentiments. Emma and Ross were two of the most happiest people I have ever seen. Emma was beaming since the second the hotel door opened and she said hello to me. This was truly a special day – the weather was perfect – and these two were surrounded by love.

Emma went out of her way and got me my own vegan cupcake. It’s rare that I have a good meal at a wedding (which i definitely had at this one!) – its extra rare that I ever get desert. Thanks so much for thinking of me!!

The girls stopped at a bar beforehand to grab a shot of tequila…

….and now my most favorite moment of the night…The couple, who decided they were not going to have a first dance, got so caught up in the moment – they snuck in a little dance. It was so romantic and so wonderful….I almost lost it…

A Rustic Reception at the Byron Colby Barn

I just did flowers and decor for Brooke and Brett’s wedding reception at The Byron Colby Barn in Grayslake. This is the 4th time I’ve done an event at this venue and every single one has been completely unique.

For the flowers we used roses, cymbidium orchids, lisianthus, stock, hydrangea, larkspur, tulips and callas in shades of purple, lavender, green, champagne and ivory. To add to the rustic charm of the barn, we used mason jars as vases and candle holders throughout the space. We did two styles of centerpieces; for the long rectangular tables we did cluster-type arrangements in assorted cylinders and mason jars, and for the round tables at the top of the loft we did round mixed arrangements that held 3 cylinder vases with submerged tulips and floating candles. In addition to the centerpieces, we created a wreath and pomanders suspended from lavender tulle to decorate the large curved wall of the barn, we added floral and candle accents to the highboy tables, gift/memorial table and we put hydrangea on the top of the cake. And of course I cannot forget to mention the bouquets which were just stunning!!!

The couple could not have been happier with how everything turned out–which is always my favorite part of the day!

Real Weddings: Sara & Kevin 10.11.08

I had the lovely opportunity to assist with a wedding at the Byron Colby Barn in Grayslake, IL last month. When I first met the bride, I thought she was a sweetie and the more we talked, the more we had in common. She’s does marketing, I have a marketing degree; her husband used to be a printer, my boyfriend is a printer; her husband is now a chef, my boyfriend printed the menus for the restaurant where he works! See, we have weird things in common!

The wedding day was perfect! I arrived on site and met with another bride to be (the lovely Julia Remix) and then I took lots of pictures.
