Το κλίμα πανικού που επικράτησε χθες οδήγησε τα ευρωπαϊκά χρηματιστήρια στις μεγαλύτερες ημερήσιες απώλειες των τελευταίων επτά μηνών.

You might not know it, but I’m a regular on Sean Hannity’s radio show. Don’t believe me? I don’t really care. The point is, this is personal in a way. Websites should be obliged to remove “false rumors” while libel laws should be altered to make it easier to sue for spreading such “rumors,” argued Cass Sunstein, Obama’s regulatory czar.

In his recently released book, “On Rumors,” Sunstein specifically cited as a primary example of “absurd” and “hateful” remarks, reports by “right-wing websites” alleging an association between President Obama and Weatherman terrorist Bill Ayers.

First of all, Cass… Can I ask what a “false rumor” is? No, really. Is that like… True Truths? Also; check this: First Amendment of the United Stated Constitution. Don’t feel like it? Here, let me educate you: FREEDOM OF SPEECH. OOOOOHHHH SNAP. Whatcha gonna do sissy boy? Also; It’s NOOOOOOO secret that BHussein is butt buddies with Bill Ayers. Why try to cover it now? It’s been common knowledge for almost three years on a national scale now, so what’s your fucking problem? Also, how is it hateful to state something that is completely true? Sorry, carry on:

He also singled out radio talker Sean Hannity for “attacking” Obama regarding the president’s “alleged associations.”

Ayers became a name in last year’s presidential campaign when it was disclosed the radical worked closely with Obama for years. Obama also was said to have launched his political career at a 1995 fundraiser in Ayers’ apartment.

As WND reported, Obama and Ayers sat together on the board of a Chicago nonprofit, the Woods Fund. Ayers also was a founder of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, where Obama was appointed as its first chairman in 1995.

Ayers reportedly was involved in hiring Obama for the CAC – a job the future president later touted as qualifying him to run for public office.

WND columnist Jack Cashill has produced a series of persuasive arguments that it was Ayers who ghostwrote Obama’s award-winning autobiography “Dreams from My Father.”

However, such reports were characterized by Sunstein as “absurd” charges for which corrective measures can be taken.

Sunstein’s book – reviewed by WND – was released in September, after he was already installed as the administrator of the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs.

“In the era of the Internet, it has become easy to spread false or misleading rumors about almost anyone,” Sunstein writes.

“Some right-wing websites liked to make absurd and hateful remarks about the alleged relationship between Barack Obama and the former radical Bill Ayers; one of the websites’ goals was undoubtedly to attract more viewers,” he writes.

Oh? So you don’t like it when “right-wing” websites make hateful remarks about BHussein and his relationship with Bill Ayers? Well how’s THIS one, CASSIEPOO? Barack Hussein Obama admires Bill Ayers because HE is a homegrown unrepentant terrorist who carried out acts of terrorism AGAINST the government. BHussein Obama LOVES and admires terrorists; although Ayers isn’t BHussein’s favourite “flavour” of terrorist. It’s no secret that BHussein favours the radical Islamist and Muslim terrorists; but he’ll take what he can get. Don’t like it? Suck a fat one, queerboy. I hear BHussein likes to get blowjobs if you give him a line of coke. THAT’S RIGHT, I SAID IT.

Sunstein continues: “On the Internet as well as on talk radio, altruistic propagators are easy to find; they play an especially large role in the political domain. When Sean Hannity, the television talk show host, attacked Barack Obama because of his alleged associations, one of his goals might have been to promote values and causes that he cherishes.”

Sunstein presents multiple new measures he argues can be used to stop the spread of “rumors.”

He contends “freedom usually works, but in some contexts, it is an incomplete corrective.”

Wrong you fuckface sack of shitballs. FREEDOM ALWAYS WORKS.

Sunstein proposes the imposition of a “chilling effect” on “damaging rumors” – or the use of strong “corrective” measures to deter future rumormongers.

For websites, Sunstein suggests a “right to notice and take down” in which “those who run websites would be obliged to take down falsehoods upon notice.”

WROOOOOOOOOOOONG. You want to have ME delete ANYTHING from my site; you’ll have to do it over my dead body. And based on the rising Obama Body count; I don’t think he’d have a problem with it. Besides, how “damaging” were these rumors statements? BHussein got his foot in the door. He’s living in the White House. No, he’s not acting like a PRESIDENT, but he’s living in the White House. So, damaging? PLZ ‘SPLAIN.

Sunstein also argues for the “right to demand a retraction after a clear demonstration that a statement is both false and damaging.” But he does not explain which agency would determine whether any statement is false and damaging.

Sunstein further pushes for “deterrence” through making libel lawsuits easier to bring.

Bring your goddamned lawsuits. You don’t own me. You can’t control me. I’m not scared of ANY of you. Not even close. Most of us patriots will continue to spread the truth; because the mainstream media has failed us. They turned their backs on their duties and they decided to follow along mindlessly slobbing any Obama knob they can. That’s right.

Sunstein drafted ‘New Deal Fairness Doctrine’

Sunstein’s proposals outlined in his book “On Rumors” were not the first of his writings to recommend regulating talk radio or the news media.

WND previously reported Sunstein drew up a “First Amendment New Deal” – a new “Fairness Doctrine” that would include the establishment of a panel of “nonpartisan experts” to ensure “diversity of view” on the airwaves.

Then it has to be enforced across the board. I want MSNBC and CNN… Larry King, Chris Matthews, KEITH OLBERMANN, Katie Couric to get off their high horses and treat OUR side with some goddamned respect. Did Sarah Palin get the same respect? No. Were her children needlessly attacked? Absolutely. Was President Bush given any respect from these doucheass low-rating shitstains? Nope. Why? To brighten the tarnished image that IS Barack Hussein Obama. Also, you have no right to change ANYTHING about the United Stated Constitution in order to make Barack Hussein look like a savory character. That’s not how it works. It’s up to HIM and HIM ALONE to make his image. Not you. Not me. Not the media.

Sunstein compared the need for the government to regulate broadcasting to the moral obligation of the U.S. to impose new rules that outlawed segregation.

Sunstein’s radical proposal, set forth in his 1993 book “The Partial Constitution,” received no news media attention and scant scrutiny until the WND report.

In the book, Sunstein outwardly favors and promotes the “Fairness Doctrine,” the abolished FCC policy that required holders of broadcast licenses to present controversial issues of public importance in a manner the government deemed “equitable and balanced.”

Sunstein introduces what he terms his “First Amendment New Deal” to regulate broadcasting in the U.S.

His proposal, which focuses largely on television, includes a government requirement that “purely commercial stations provide financial subsidies to public television or to commercial stations that agree to provide less profitable but high-quality programming.”

Sunstein wrote it is “worthwhile to consider more dramatic approaches as well.”

He proposes “compulsory public-affairs programming, right of reply, content review by nonpartisan experts or guidelines to encourage attention to public issues and diversity of view.”

The Obama czar argues his regulation proposals for broadcasting are actually presented within the spirit of the Constitution.

“It seems quite possible that a law that contained regulatory remedies would promote rather than undermine the ‘freedom of speech,’” he writes.

Sunstein compares the need for the government to regulate broadcasting to the moral obligation of the government stepping in to end segregation.

Writes Sunstein: “The idea that government should be neutral among all forms of speech seems right in the abstract, but as frequently applied it is no more plausible than the idea that it should be neutral between the associational interests of blacks and those of whites under conditions of segregation.“

Sunstein contends the landmark case that brought about the Fairness Doctrine, Red Lion Broadcasting Co. v. Federal Communications Commission, “stresses not the autonomy of broadcasters (made possible only by current ownership rights), but instead the need to promote democratic self-government by ensuring that people are presented with a broad range of views about public issues.“

He continues: “In a market system, this goal may be compromised. It is hardly clear that ‘the freedom of speech’ is promoted by a regime in which people are permitted to speak only if other people are willing to pay enough to allow them to be heard.“

In his book, Sunstein slams the U.S. courts’ unwillingness to “require something like a Fairness Doctrine” to be a result of “the judiciary’s lack of democratic pedigree, lack of fact-finding powers and limited remedial authority.”

He clarifies he is not arguing the government should be free to regulate broadcasting however it chooses.

“Regulation designed to eliminate a particular viewpoint would of course be out of bounds. All viewpoint discrimination would be banned,” Sunstein writes.

But, he says, “at the very least, regulative ‘fairness doctrines’ would raise no real doubts” constitutionally.

There was a peculiar piece in the American Spectator online last week, a “Special Report” by Mark Hyman. The author lists a number of unfortunate circumstances by which harmless passengers, many times military personnel, have been delayed or hassled by TSA and airport security protocols. He blames these anecdotal mishaps on “government bureaucrats armed with ‘rules, policies and procedures’ and employing no commonsense.”

He goes on to question a number of security and procedural policies in government and military institutions, which he thinks are unnecessary and demeaning to the personnel at these institutions. As a primary example, Hyman makes the case that the rules for issuing and renewing CACs (Common Access Cards) are unneeded and absurd.

He is miffed because he did not renew his CAC before it expired and he had to go though a bureaucratic process to straighten this out:

“My CAC had expired days earlier so I contacted an issuing office to get a replacement. A clerk in the ID card office informed me that all appointments had to be made online using the intranet. Yet, my expired CAC prevented me from using the intranet system. In spite of my predicament the clerk told me, “Our policy requires all appointments to be scheduled online. If you are unable to use the intranet, then there is nothing more I can do.” It sounded like the beginning of an Abbott and Costello routine.”

“Rather than fight this particular battle, I decided to renew my CAC at another issuing office. While there, I was asked to produce a picture ID. I showed my state driver’s license. I was then asked for a second form of ID and was told the CAC was not acceptable since it expired five days earlier. A week earlier it would have been valid, but on this day it was deemed worthless. So I showed the clerk my company-issued ID card that looked as though it was made on an office computer and laminated at the local Kinko’s. As a matter of fact, that was exactly how that ID was manufactured. But it was good enough. The clerk accepted the flimsy company ID over the just-expired military CAC.”

Hyman concludes,

“What makes this episode even sadder is that the military CAC is generally not accepted as a valid form of identification for use by visitors to the Pentagon. Visitors must also have a Pentagon-issued ID or another form of identification such as a state driver’s license. The reason, according to a security officer, is that at least one machine that manufactures CACs and several hundred blank CACs are missing and presumed to have been stolen. Security officials do not know which CAC is valid and which is a forgery.”

The latter claim is nonsensical and shows that the security officials Hyman chats with are miss informing him about how his CAC works. This too, expresses a common misconception— that possession of the card is the only thing that verifies identity.

To his point about the pains of standing in line to renew something only to find that you don’t have the right materials: I can empathize with this, but I cannot gather what rules Hyman thinks are silly, and which are reasonable. Is he arguing that he shouldn’t have to have a CAC, or that he should be able to use his expired CAC, by itself, for renewal? And what does this have to do with policy created by top-level military and government officials?

What is clear from reading the piece is that he doesn’t like the rules much because he doesn’t understand why they are in place. He wanted an exception so he could use his expired CAC. Similarly, in another of his examples, he complains that his wife couldn’t renew her own CAC using an expired passport.

There are two fundamental questions that would help Hyman better appreciate these rules: Why are identification badges, such as CAC cards, used? And, how is the true identity of a badge-holder verified? In other words, what is a CAC good for anyways?

The military provides several resources for answering these questions. In fact, had Hyman consulted these, or unofficial resources, anytime before his CAC expired he would have had less of a hassle renewing it.

Identity, and the privileges we associate with it, is an abstract thing that is difficult to verify. The best way for a large institutions to verify a person’s identity is to gather the various artifacts of identity, such as a state driver’s license, for this person and grade the validity of these items and the authority of the institution who gave the item.  The bureaucratic pronouncements on this process (i.e. presidential directives and policies) say that the best way to verify the identity and authorization of millions of people is to create a system of rules that make the procedures repeatable, reliable, and safe. (One such rule may reason that an expired identity artifact should not be considered valid, even if it was valid yesterday.)

Now, the process of using a CAC card is not as simple as it could be. Systems that use badges for the identification of people and the verification of people’s permissions and authority are complex and imperfect, but this is not a problem of bureaucracy. It’s more a matter of improving these systems for most users and reminding users, like Hyman, why they were given a badge to begin with.

Those who know me, or have followed the Marking Time blog , are most likely aware I’ve been posting very few entries here since the summer of ‘09 (and even longer in the case of  a simple desire , the other blog I help out with occasionally). That’s not an altogether bad thing, but I thought a note here to explain myself would be in order right about now.

I’ve still been writing, but much of the material has been of a deeply personal nature. I’ve continued to generate some interesting poems, or at least first drafts of some good stuff. But another poet friend recently told me that poems published on the web have even less chance of getting into print or being “sold” than poetry usually has. (In other words, one in ten thousand, as opposed to the usual one in a thousand…)

I’ve also been doing plenty of journaling, but that also is of a type that needs to stay private. It’s material that may lead to public material, but it’s pretty raw and needy right about now. Wrote a couple of sermons in my capacity on the lay preaching team at church, and also collaborated on a unique performance art piece for the St. Francis/Men and Nature event sponsored by Illinois MALEs and the CAC in October (see blogroll links on the right at Marking Time).

My dream journal in particular will probably yield a few short stories, and has been pretty wild so far. It’s the first time I’ve ever tried this faithfully, and I recommend it, to artists and non-artists alike. When we give our souls and our subconscious permission to speak, what they have to say can be pretty radical. And the transformation of dreams into something more fully understood, and rational, and useful, takes time. So putting them in print increases our opportunity to chew on that material for a few days, a few months, or longer. If  that translation or interpretation even needs to happen, which in some cases it does not. Dreams do their work on us and change us in ways we may not ever fully comprehend.

So this goes out to you to say I’m still here. Still okay. Glad to get an email, comment or phone call by any means necessary. I still read a few other blogs each week. And I’ll keep dropping little items into Marking Time as I’m able. Look for a new poem tomorrow, in fact… despite what I said above. A guy’s gotta blow off a little steam now and then, after all, and my blogged poems have gotten more positive responses over the years than any of my essays or columns. But my higher priority these days is to get a decent day job. And I gotta get my head together (What? Again? Yes… again.) before I give a whole lot of time to blogging, volunteering, or the other ways I’ve spent so much time the past few years. I get a lot out of those activities, of course. But I need to find new ways to give back to the world, ways that don’t keep me emotionally drained and financially strapped. And I need to get over loving the sound of my own voice far too much…

So for now, just keep me in your prayers. I’m doing the same for you.

Alrighty, round two of sugar metabolism: the Citric Acid Cycle, also known as the Krebs Cycle or the Tricarboxilic Acid Cycle.  Just like my previous post, we’ll run through the cycle stepwise, indicating enzymes and reversibility as well as any other notable information.  Lets get crackin’!

The TCA Cycle: An Overview!

Step 0: First, before the cycle can begin, we must take pyruvate (from the results of our glycolysis) and transform it into acetyl-CoA in order for the cycle to legitimately begin.  To do so, pyruvate dehydrogenase takes CoASH and NAD+ (with the help of the coenzyme TTP) and binds CoASH as acetyl-CoA, while giving off NADH and H+. (The NAD+ is used as a cofactor to return the enzyme to its original state) Now we can begin the TCA cycle.

Step 1: Acetyl-CoA is added to oxaloactetate to make citrate, which adds a carbon to the chain, making it 5 carbons (instead of oxaloacetate’s 4), as well as transforming several of the groups on the carbons.  I will not go into detail here to spare you all the pain, but instead provided an image of the transformation. CoAsH is removed. This is irreversible.

Step 2: Citrate is then transformed into isocitrate by moving the OH group on C3 to C4.  Aconitase catalyzes the reaction and it is reversible.

Step 3: Isocitrate then has the newly moved OH group dehydrogenated to a carbonyl group, as well as has the COO- group from C3 removed entirely (with two H’s added in its place).  This compound is called a-ketoglutarate and it is catalyzed via isocitrate dehydrogenase.  The reaction is not reversible as NAD+ is reduced to NADH and CO2 is formed.

Step 4: A-ketoglutarate then has CoASH added yet again, this time to replace the COO group at C5 to form an SCoA group (Succinyl CoA the whole compound is called).  A-ketoglutarate dehydrogenase catalyzes the reaction, which is irreversible.  It takes NAD+ and CoASH and releases NADH and CO2.

Step 5: Succinyl CoA then passes through Succinyl CoA synthase, which removes the CoA group, while adding an O(H) group to the C4 carbon, making Succinate.  GDP and Pi are used, while GTP and CoASH are products.  This reaction is reversible (hence the misleading name “Succinyl CoA synthase”!)

Step 6: Succinate is then dehydrogenated via succinate dehydrogenase (duh) to form fumarate.  H2 is eliminated (one from C2 and one from C3) to form a double bond between the two carbons.  The H2 (and its subsequent electrons) are transfered to Q to make Q2(in the ETC) or FAD to FADH2. This enzyme is the only membrane bound enzyme in the cycle and is also known as Complex II of the electron transport chain and the reaction is reversible.

Step 7: Fumarate is then hydrated into malate. The double bond formed in the last step then gains an OH group and a hydrogen (C2 gets OH C3 gets H, though it doesn’t matter, since the molecule is not chiral and either addition would produce the same product.)  Fumarase catalyzes the reaction and water is consumed; the reaction is reversible.

Step 8: Malate is then dehydrogenated such that the OH group becomes a =O group, while NAD+ is reduced to NADH and H+ via malate dehydrogenase.  Oxaloacetate is formed and thus the circle is complete.  The reaction is reversible.

Overall, the TCA cycle produces 4 NADH, 1 FADH2 (or QH2) and 1 GTP.  If we take into account that two pyruvates are formed via glycolysis, the total comes to 8 NADH, 2 FADH2 and 2 GTP.  Granted, this isn’t alot of energy, but the payoff from both of these cycles comes as we enter the electron transport chain, our next topic.

Com aquesta multa l’haurà de pagar de la seva butxaca, l’esforçat teixit comercial i empresarial sabadellenc coneix que no hi caben ni bromes ni deixadesa en aquests casos. Pot pasar que vingui un inspector i ens digui que aquell extintor no està prou visible, que la senyalització de la porta està malament  o que el rètol del carrer sobresurt dos mil.límetres del que toca. Qualsevol cosa que ens faci malbé el dia.

Tot canvia quan qui incumpleix la llei és la pròpia Administració. Com les sancions les paguen entre tots, sembla que no es fili tan prim.

És per aquest motiu que tenen la obligació de ser exemplars i que ens emprenya quan veiem que no ho són. L’Ajuntament de Sabadell, el mateix que ens parla dels seus problemes de finançament, no sembla tan curós a l’hora de tenir les coses en regla.

Els responsables de l’Àrea de Comunicació coneixen sobradament la Llei de l’Audiovisual de Catalunya. Entre d’altres raons per haver estat apercebuts ja un cop, tot i que es van acollir a una possibilitat d’excepció i els va estar concedida per a un cas concret i un temps determinat.

És, com totes, una norma d’obligat cumpliment i molt clara en el seu articulat. El Parlament la va votar amb el recolzament de CiU, PSC, ERC, ICV-EuiA i l’oposició del PP i atorgava al Consell de l’Audiovisual de Catalunya la potestat d’imposar sancions de fins 300.000€ en funció de la gravetat de les infraccions. Fins i tot podria arribar a considerar el cessament definitiu de la prestació dels serveis per part del responsable.

El nostre punt de vista, tal i com s’ha exposat aquí, és que l’Ajuntament a través de Ràdio Sabadell ha incomplert diversos punts.

Ho ha fet en el cas de l’article 32.1 que exigeix que es garanteixi la transmissió d’una informació veraç, objectiva i equil.librada.

Exemples com els que ja hem citat aquí en el cas de la informació sobre la victòria del PSC a les darreres eleccions generals, que es va titular “Sabadell i Catalunya es feliciten per la històrica victòria del Partit dels Socialistes en unes generals” no són admissibles. Una informació que es va encarregar de redactar el Cap d’Esports quan hi havia periodistes de la redacció d’informatius que podrien haver-ho fet

O quan una roda de premsa del grup de l’oposició ICV-EuiA s’arracona al final d’una noticia a la web i queda relegada als informatius d’aquell dia ja que una Tècnica municipal els havia fet arribar una carta oberta recriminant a aquestes les denúncies públiques que havien fet. Informació que, per cert, acaba tancant com és habitual en aquests casos, el PSC

O per posar exemples recents, davant una roda de premsa que el grup al que ens referiem abans, ICV-EuiA dóna demanant determinades explicacions al govern, la informació és “segrestada” 6 hores fins que el Tinent d’Alcalde fa també una trobada amb els mitjans per a donar resposta als primers. Només és aleshores que es publica la informació d’una i altra part tancant la noticia el govern, com sempre.

Però no vull centrar-me només en aquest aspecte, d’altra banda el més subjectiu dels que exposaré.

El cert és que la ratificació del director, Marc Sabater i el nomenament del Gerent, Josep Abellán no s’han fet respectant el que diu la llei. Això és l’Article 33.1 que exigeix que sigui el Ple qui nomeni per majoria qualificada de dos terços (en el cas de Sabadell, 18 vots) els màxims responsables de la gestió de Ràdio Sabadell. Aquest nomenament s’ha de fer a partir d’un informe preceptiu d’un Consell Assessor que hauria d’avaluar i justificar la capacitat, el mèrit i la idoneïtat dels candidats. Cap dels dos ha obtingut aquest recolzament imprescindible per a ocupar els càrrecs que avui tenen.

Un aspecte no menor és la exigència d’un Contracte programa que asseguri l’autonomìa de la gestió directa i quotidiana del servei. Cert és que el Ple va aprovar la incorporació de l’Ajuntament de Sabadell al Consorci de Comunicació Local i que aquest gest es va vendre com un pas per a acabar dotant-se d’aquest instrument. Com no és menys veritat que aquest Consorci té altres objectius principals, com la emissió de programes en Cadena i l’intercanvi d’espais i que hauria de ser la própia ràdio qui s’adaptés a la llei pel seu compte. No hem d’oblidar que no parlem d’una emissora petita d’un poblet sinó d’un ens que compta amb un pressupost de més d’un milió d’euros anuals. Mentre no es posa al corrent en aquest tema, que regularia la participació dels grups polítics en aquests mitjans i acabaria, per un costat amb l’abús de la utilització de la ràdio pel PSC i per l’altre dotaria d’autonomía pressupostaria al mtijà, avui es segueix incomplint la Llei en el seu article 33.3

Com tampoc s’ha volgut complir, de cap manera, el que exigeix l’article 102.1 de la Llei. Si aquest deixa clar que està prohibit el patrocini d’informatius i emissions d’actualitat política, Ràdio Sabadell manté des de fa anys la esponsorització dels informatius a través d’un contracte amb el Banc de Sabadell. Es tracta d’una infracció considerada de tipus Greu.

No hem de deixar de banda, tampoc, que l’Article 8 garanteix la protecció dels drets fonamentals i que cita, entre aquests, el dret a l’honor, a la intimitat i a la pròpia imatge. Recordem que ja vam dir ahir que Ràdio Sabadell confecciona llistes amb dades personals de les persones que han participat als seus programes o que han trucat demanant fer-ho. I que quan s’han posat en contacte amb la emissora han estat preguntats per tota una colla de dades que, creuades amb les opinions que hagin pogut expressar després a l’antena, els deixa desprotegits dels usos que posteriorment s’hagin pogut fer. Una llista que el director de Ràdio Sabadell ha exigit per escrit als treballadors indicant que és un imperatiu legal (¿?) i que té funcions pràcticament estadístiques.

Tot plegat ens referim un cop més al desgavell que, en conjunt, permet que Ràdio Sabadell segueixi representant el que és. Una empresa amb molts recursos econòmics però que no han servit per a captar ni formar professionals que s’hi vulguin quedar. Ni el clima que impera a la casa, ni les condicions laborals són prou atractius com per a que aquesta sigui una aposta professional interessant. Bé, això si deixem de banda el cas del seu responsable. Com ja vam dir aquí, el director Marc Sabater rep una remuneració per la seva feina de molt més de 60.000€ l’any. I això sense haver consolidat un projecte creïble, havent marcat una programació amb continus canvis de realitzadors i amb un equip d’informatius que tan bon punt pot marxa a acceptar qualsevol altra oferta, encara que sigui amb pitjors condicions econòmiques o contractuals.  I molts són els exemples que es poden posar d’això.

Per totes aquestes i encara més raons creiem que és hora de que en faci les seves valoracions el Consell de l’Audiovisual de Catalunya. En cas de que cap grup polític decidís fer aquest pas ens tocaria a nosaltres instar l’actuació d’ofici d’aquest organisme. I, òbviament, ho farem.

Medical News: Serum Phosphorus Predicts Coronary Artery Calcification – in Cardiovascular, Coronary Artery Disease from MedPage Today

Coronary artery calcification was common among apparently healthy adults, became more frequent and severe with time, and was associated with elevated levels of serum phosphorus, according to an analysis of data from a long-term population study.

 

At baseline, coronary artery calcification was present in 28% of participants in a long-term observational study, and six years later, new-onset calcification had developed in 33%, for an overall prevalence of 50% (P<0.001), according to Katherine R. Tuttle, MD, of Providence Medical Research Center in Spokane, Wash., and colleagues.

Nuestro Ibex-35 está aguantando cómo puede el famoso nivel de los 11.200 puntos, hoy ha cerrado en los 11.548,90 puntos pero nos esperan semanas complicada y con connotaciones negativas.

Sin embargo, en los mercados como siempre, no todo es negativo ya que los inversores disponemos de productos que nos permitan o bien cubrir carteras con posiciones alcistas que tengamos (renunciando a las subidas) o apostar a una corrección más profunda del mercado comprando un “fondo cotizado” o “etf” bajista del Ibex-35 denominado “ETF Inverso del Ibex-35”

Como todo fondo cotizado, replica el índice de forma diaria en tiempo real, en este caso replica el comportamiento inverso del mismo

Mientras que la mayoría de ETF inversos replican los propios índices (CAC, DAX,E50, FTSE, DJI,S&P) en nuestro caso se han decidido por crear un índice que difiere de nuestro Ibex-35, ya que este ETF replica el comportamiento diario inverso del Ibex-35 con dividendos.

El Ibex-35 cotiza en tiempo real en función de la capitalización de cada valor (precio * nº de acciones), si al cierre del mismo cualquier componente del índice abona un dividendo, este dividendo se descuenta del precio de la acción con el consiguiente efecto sobre el índice al día siguiente en la apertura. Es decir nuestro Ibex-35 es un índice que descuenta el dividendo.

En un mercado como el actual con la elevada volatilidad y más aún en esta época de resultados empresariales, el poder tener un activo que cotiza en tiempo real y que permite cubrirse de posibles bajadas es una herramienta muy útil y sencilla para cualquier inversor.
También el hecho de que se tenga ETFS alcistas en todos los mercados europeos (DAX,CAC,E50, FTSE) permite realizar estrategias de posicionarme alcista de un índice y bajista de otro aprovechando el diferencial entre un índice y otro (estrategias long / short o market neutral).

Wer die Zuchtprodukte und Ausstellungssieger der letzten 3 Jahre einmal genau mit dem Standard – selbst dem jetzt gültigen – vergleicht, muß sich ernsthaft fragen, ob die Richter der FCI nicht mehr fähig sind zu lesen.

Den genau die Do Khyi, die auf dem Siegerpodest stehen, tragen verstärkt die Merkmale, die als schwere Fehler im Standard stehen, als da wären:

Jetzt ist China in der F.C.I. und fordert sein Recht, den Standard neu zu gestalten, bzw. dem Züchterwahn der dort vorhandenen Population anzugleichen, und der sieht so aus:

Abgesehen davon, das es sich hier um etwas handelt, was die tibetischen Nomaden einfach als “Fleisch” bezeichnen (etwas was in China aus verschiedenen Rassen zum Verzehr gezüchtet wird), erkennt man beim genaueren Hinsehen, wie kaputt dieses arme Tier tatsächlich ist.

Die extremen Leftzen entzündet, das Auge deformiert und vereitert, die mastinogleiche Riesen-Wamme völlig verdreckt….

Doch tatsächlich scheinen diese armen Kreaturen einigen osteuropäischen und westlichen Züchtern zu gefallen, denn es gibt genügend, die sich diese Mischlinge importieren.

Drei dieser China-Nachzuchten aus osteuropäischem Raum kamen unlängst nach Deutschland für einen Stückpreis von annähernd 4.000 Euro….

Zwei wurden wegen extremster Knochenprobleme (Hüfte) binnen ihres ersten Lebensjahres eingeschläfert, der Dritte war noch gerade operabel und erhielt für fast den selben Preis künstliche Hüften….

Đầu năm 2005, tạp chí Forbes đã công bố Danh sách những tỷ phú của thế giới. Danh sách này của Forbes hàng năm đều tăng lên, năm sau cao hơn năm trước. Lần này, theo Forbes, số lượng các nhà tỷ phú sẽ tăng lên mức kỷ lục là 691 người với tổng tài sản là 2,2 nghìn tỷ USD. Để có mặt trong Danh sách này của Forbes thì các nhà tỷ phú phải có trong tay ít nhất 1 tỷ USD.

Đây là lần thứ 11 liên tiếp chủ tịch Microsoft, Bill Gates giữ vị trí người giàu nhất thế giới. Mặc dù tài sản có sụt giảm đôi chút từ 46,6 tỷ USD xuống còn 46,5 tỷ USD những vị trí số một của Bill Gates sẽ vẫn chưa bị đe doạ trong vài năm nữa. Tỷ phú Lakshmi Mitta của Ấn Độ và Ivan Kramprad, chủ tịch IKEA, Thuỵ Điển có mặt trong số mười người đứng đầu danh sách. Trong khi ông vua thép Mittal đứng thứ ba thì Kampard lên hàng thứ sáu. Carlos Slim, nhà tỷ phú trong lĩnh vực viễn thông của Mexico là tỷ phú có sự gia tăng tài sản nhanh nhất từ 18,8 tỷ USD lên đến 25 tỷ USD.

Trong Danh sách các nhà tỷ phú của Forbes, Mỹ là quốc gia có nhiều tỷ phú mới gia nhập danh sách nhất với 69 gương mặt mới, tiếp theo là Nga với 9 người, Anh có 8 người và Đức có 7 người mới. Riêng tại Nga, tỷ phú Roman Abramovich có sự thăng tiến nhanh nhất và trở thành người giàu nhất nước Nga với tổng tài sản lên đến 13,3 tỷ USD và đứng thứ 21 trong danh sách của Forbes. Tác giả cuốn sách Harry Porter, nữ nhà văn JK Rowling, với số tài sản trên 1 tỷ USD cũng tham gia danh sách của Forbes.

Khi danh sách trên được công bố là một lần nữa để các chuyên gia có cơ hội phân tích và tìm ra những bí quyết đưa những tỷ phú đến thành công ngày hôm nay. Các câu hỏi đặt ra là: Tại sao họ thành công nhanh chóng đến như vậy? Bên trong họ là những tính cách gì? Một nhóm các chuyên gia của tạp chí Nihon Keizai đã tổng hợp, phân tích, đánh giá tính cách và phương pháp làm việc của các tỷ phú trên toàn thế giới để đưa ra 10 công thức thành công của họ:

1/ Nuôi dưỡng ý chí kinh doanh

Ý chí kinh doanh được nuôi dưỡng và phát triển khi các nhà tỷ phú tiếp thu được các kiến thức quản trị kinh doanh và các kỹ năng chuyên môn cần thiết trong quá trình làm việc hồi còn trẻ. Một biểu hiện qua phân tích kết quả khảo sát là những tỷ phú luôn có ý chí kinh doanh đáng khâm phục và họ quyết tâm để thực hiện cho được những mục tiêu mà mình đã đề ra.

Kinh doanh đồng nghĩa với rủi ro. Nếu ý chí kinh doanh được hiểu theo nghĩa là ý định khởi sự và mở rộng các hoạt động kinh doanh thì những ý đinh này được các tỷ phú xác định dựa trên phán đoán về lợi nhuận thu được với một mức độ mạo hiểm kèm theo trong quá trình kinh doanh. Độ rủi ro càng lớn thì các nhà doanh nghiệp bình thường càng e ngại đầu tư nhưng đối với các tỷ phú thành công thì họ không hề e ngại. Sự tồn tại của các rủi ro trong kinh doanh không hề làm suy giảm ý chí kinh doanh của nhiều nhà doanh nghiệp.

2/ Luôn suy nghĩ và động não

Ivan Lamprad, chủ tịch IKEA nói: “Nếu không có ý tưởng, đôi khi hoạt động kinh doanh trở nên đơn điệu. Một ý tưởng kinh doanh táo bạo, dám nghĩ dám làm, đồng nghĩa với thành công trong kinh doanh”.

Các nhà tỷ phú đều không phải là những nhà khoa học có những phát minh vĩ đại nhưng họ đều có những khả năng nhạy bén và ra những quyết định lớn trong kinh doanh, đem lại những khoản lợi nhuận khổng lồ có giá trị tương đương với các phát minh lớn của các nhà khoa học. Sở dĩ Bill Gates trở thành người giàu nhất thế giới trong một thời gian dài đến như vậy là nhờ Bill Gates đã biết phát huy sáng tạo về hệ thống điều hành của máy tính DOS. Trên thực tế, hệ thống điều hành này không phải là của Bill Gates mà là của một người anh em kết nghĩa. Ông này đã chết vì tai nạn xe hơi sau khi đã uống rượu say.

Với sự hỗ trợ thích hợp của các đối tác kinh doanh cộng với đầu óc sáng tạo, linh hoạt của các tỷ phú, có thể nói phần lớn các sản phẩm của họ đều hứa hẹn một tiềm năng lớn tại thị trường mới.

3/ Một cách nhìn hoàn toàn mới mẻ, mạnh bạo

Khác với các bậc đàn anh đi trước, các tỷ phú ngày nay không chấp nhận “trói mình” trong một ngành nào đó. Ngày nay, ít có các tỷ phú chỉ bám mãi một ngành, họ không ngại thay đổi và biết tạo ra những thành tựu kỳ diệu, gây được ấn tượng mạnh ngay trong các ngành nghề truyền thống. Nhà doanh nhân trẻ Denis Lerrien rời bỏ công ty con của Amagon để lãnh đạo Sanford Enrope. Anh đã gánh lấy trách nhiệm đứng đầu 3000 cán bộ công nhân và đối mặt với những vấn đề mới về chiến lược trong kinh doanh các loại bút máy Waterman hoặc Parker.

Carlos Slim, tỷ phú viễn thông của đất nước trung Mỹ Mexico cũng có cách thức xâm nhập thị trường Mỹ một cách rất sáng tạo khi lập phòng viễn thông tại đây: Ông chỉ góp vốn bằng cách đưa nhân sự của mình sang công ty Mỹ mới thành lập mang tên Maxel Tech. Vốn của Maxel góp là tiền lương năm đầu tiên trả cho các nhân sự đó. Sau một năm, hãng mới phải trả lương cho các nhân sự. Với vốn góp bằng 1 năm tiền lương của mình, các nhân viên của Carlos và chính bản thân ông vẫn được bảo toàn trong số vốn đầu tư và sẽ được chia lời khi làm ăn có hiệu quả.

4/ Mạo hiểm để thành công

Warren Buffet đã từng nói: “Nếu bạn không dám mạo hiểm trên thương trường thì tốt nhất là bạn nên loại bỏ khỏi ý muốn của mình về những khoản lợi nhuận khổng lồ”. Quả thật, một trong những tính cách mà bạn có thể tìm gặp ở bất kể nhà tỷ phú nào đó là dám chấp nhận mạo hiểm.

Những năm đầu thập niên 80, Micheal Dell, chủ tịch Dell Computer lúc đó còn là sinh viên đã phát minh ra mạch từ tính của các máy điều khiển tự động. Sau đó, Dell đem bán phát minh cho một công ty cơ khí của Mỹ. Nhận thấy rằng kỹ thuật máy tính đang ngày một phát triển và sẽ rất hưng thịnh trong nay mai, Dell không hề do dự sử dụng số tiền bán phát minh của mình mở công ty máy tính Dell Computer. Dưới sự trợ giúp của nhiều người cùng với sự phân tích đánh giá đúng đắn về các nguồn thông tin, Dell đã quyết định một cách khác người, mạo hiểm mở các công ty phát triển máy tính cỡ lớn bỏ qua các công ty máy tính nhỏ, đồng thời chuyển sang kinh doanh các thiết bị máy tính văn phòng và đã đạt được thành công bất ngờ. Sau đó hàng năm mức doanh thu bình quân của Dell Computer tăng từ 40-50% và Micheal Dell trở thành một trong những tỷ phú trẻ nhất nước Mỹ.

Đến những năm 90, nhận ra tiềm lực to lớn của thị trường máy tính PC, Micheal Dell đã kiên quyết lao vào lĩnh vực mới, chấp nhận mạo hiểm mặc dù chưa có nhiều kinh nghiệm trong lĩnh vực này. Chỉ vài năm sau, máy tính của Dell Computer đã có mặt hầu hết các nước trên thế giới với doanh thu hàng năm hơn chục tỷ USD. Dell Computer trở thành một trong những hãng máy tính lớn nhất thế giới và Micheal Dell cũng được xếp vào một trong 10 người giàu nhất thế giới. Chính cá tính mạo hiểm đã giải thích tại sao các đối thủ cạnh tranh cho đến nay vẫn không bắt chước được Micheal Dell. Theo nhà phân tích chiến lược công nghệ Steven Milunuovic của Merrill Lynch thì việc dám đương đầu với mạo hiểm của Dell có thể vì như siêu sao bóng rổ Micheal Jordan: tất cả mọi người đều biết, đều hiểu nhưng không ai có thể bắt chước được anh.

5/ Sức bền và tính kiên nhẫn

Trong số 500 người giàu nhất thế giới năm 2004, có gần 30 người đã từng bỏ học giữa chừng mặc dù bạn bè và gia đình can ngăn để theo đuổi sở thích làm giàu của mình. Một trường hợp đặc biệt khác là Sam Walton, chủ tịch tập đoàn bán lẻ lớn nhất nước Mỹ Wal- Mart, nổi tiếng với vai trò “Ông vua bán lẻ” nước Mỹ. Ông là người bỏ học rất sớm để đi kiếm tiền. Khi đã thành công, Sam Walton lại gặp rất nhiều chỉ trích vì sự bánh trướng quá lớn của mình, thậm chí có nhiều người còn cố “moi móc” các tật xấu của Walton đề nhằm bôi nhọ ông. Tuy nhiên, Walton vẫn rất kiên nhẫn, không hề có phản ứng nào thái quá. Đối với ông, thành công của Wal- Mart luôn là những phần thưởng đáng giá nhất đề bù đắp và xoá tan mọi sự chỉ trích

6/ Tỉnh táo và tự tin

Một trong những nguyên nhân khiến Bill Gates luôn giữ được vị trí người giàu nhất thế giới là ông có khả năng quản lý đồng vốn và đầu tư một cách hợp lý và sáng suốt. “Phải thắng được nỗi sợ hãi bằng vũ khí: Đó là tự tin. Thành công tạo niềm tin, vì thế nếu bạn thiếu tự tin, hãy đưa ra mục tiêu. Sau đó nên công bố lễ kỷ niệm khi bạn đạt được mục tiêu đó. Ví dụ như gửi những thông cáo báo chí cho tờ báo địa phương khi lượng hàng hóa bán ra vượt dự định, khi tin tức đó được đăng thì gửi nó cho các khách hàng quan tâm của mình”, Bill Gates đã nhận xét như vậy trong một buổi nói chuyện với các sinh viên Mỹ sắp ra trường.

7/ Khả năng suy tính và phán đoán

Phương thức lựa chọn tài sản và hàng hoá để mua được với giá rẻ của các tỷ phú không phải là cứ nhất thiết đợi đến khi mọi người đều cho rằng giá không thể xuống thấp hơn được nữa thì mới đi mua. Trên thực tế, họ cho rằng khi giá hiện hành của một loại tài sản nào đó đã hạ xuống đến mức “giá tiềm tàng” của nó thì đó chính là thời cơ tốt nhất để nhập cuộc.

Paul Getty, một tỷ phú trên thị trường bất động sản Mỹ, đã nổi lên nhờ áp dụng chiêu thức này. Khi một số nhà đầu cơ bất động sản đang chờ giá khách sạn Pierr trên đường số 5 của thành phố New York hạ xuống thì Paul Getty đã bất ngờ bỏ tiền ra mua khách sạn này. Mọi người đều cho rằng Paul bỏ tiền ra quá sớm mà không ngờ được rằng sau khi mua lại khách sạn, ông đã tân trang lại và tìm cách kéo những người nổi tiếng đến nghỉ tại đây với giá ưu đãi và biến nó thành trung tâm giao lưu của giới thượng lưu New York. 5 năm sau, ông bán khách sạn này với giá cao cấp 17 lần giá mua.

8/ Bình tĩnh và không nôn nóng để nắm bắt thời cơ

Trên thương trường, nhờ sự bình tĩnh và không nôn nóng, các tỷ phú luôn thành công trong các hoạt động đầu tư. Bill Gates cũng nhận xét: “Chúng ta không thể thoát khỏi thua lỗ, chúng ta chỉ có thể biến nó thành bạn đồng hành trong mọi nỗ lực. Nôn nóng khi thua lỗ là một trong những cảm giác cơ bản nhất của xúc cảm con người, song nó không thể chỉ dẫn cho những doanh nhân mới chớm lập kế hoạch hay làm ngưng trệ sự phát triển doanh nghiệp của họ. Nếu bạn nhận thấy nơm nớp lo âu về kinh doanh thì hãy nhớ rằng hầu hết những doanh nhân thành đạt nhất cũng đã từng mất bình tĩnh một hoặc nhiều lần, nhưng dù thua lỗ có níu kéo họ xuống thì nó chẳng bao giờ có thể bắt họ dừng lại”.

9/ Tận dụng thời cơ

Consell de l’audiovisual de Catalunya (CAC)

El Consell de l’Audiovisual de Catalunya (CAC) és l’autoritat independent de regulació de la comunicació audiovisual de Catalunya. Té com a finalitat vetllar pel compliment de la normativa aplicable als prestadors de serveis de comunicació audiovisual, tant els públics com els privats.

El CAC és integrat per deu membres, nou dels quals són elegits pel Parlament de Catalunya a proposta, com a mínim, de tres grups parlamentaris, per una majoria de dos terços. L’altre membre, que n’és el president o presidenta, és proposat i nomenat pel Govern després d’escoltar l’opinió majoritària dels nou membres elegits pel Parlament.

Els mandats són, en tots els casos, de sis anys, no renovables. Els membres del Consell estan sotmesos a un règim d’incompatibilitats que els impedeix tenir interessos, directes o indirectes, en empreses audiovisuals, de cinema, de vídeo, de premsa, de publicitat, d’informàtica, de telecomunicacions o d’internet.

El Consell té competència plena sobre els prestadors de serveis audiovisuals d’àmbit autonòmic i local, independentment de quin sigui el sistema de difusió emprat i sobre els continguts en les desconnexions per a Catalunya de les cadenes d’àmbit estatal.

Per tal de dur a terme les funcions encomanades, la Llei atorga al CAC un seguit de potestats, de les quals destaquen les tres següents:

• Reglamentària. El CAC pot aprovar disposicions reglamentàries que desenvolupin la legislació existent. Se les anomena instruccions generals i són vinculants per als prestadors de serveis de comunicació audiovisual.

• Sancionadora. El CAC disposa de la potestat d’imposar les sancions previstes a la legislació sobre l’audiovisual.

• Inspectora. El CAC pot requerir informació i demanar la compareixença dels prestadors i distribuïdors de serveis de comunicació audiovisual.

Bruno Magalhães só precisa de um 4.º lugar no Rali do Algarve, isto caso Vítor Pascoal vença o rali, para ser campeão.

Durante o rali assistiu-se a uma luta entre Adruzílio Lopes e Vítor Pascoal para o 2.º lugar. Tendo chegado os dois ao fim do 1.º dia separados apenas por 1 seg., Adruzílio atacou na 2.ª etapa conseguindo bater sempre Vítor Pascoal, assegurando assim o 2.º lugar da geral e 1.º do Grupo de Produção, tendo assim conseguido a revalidação do título de Produção.
Bernardo de Sousa que voltou ao nacional fez uma prova onde o espectáculo foi uma dominante, tendo terminado em 4.º, com um carro que já não guiava algum tempo.

Nos 2Litros/2Rodas Motrizes, Miguel Campos em Renault Clio R3 voltou a vencer, sendo a 2.ª vitória em 2 ralis disputados. Barros Leite ficou em 2.º a 15seg. e no último lugar do pódium Carlos Matos, que assim fica à frente do campeonato dos 2L/2RM, com 2 pontos de avanço sobre Paulo Antunes.

Próxima prova e última, será o Rali do Algarve. Prova esta que decidirá os títulos de Campeão Nacional de Ralis e o Campeão de 2L/2RM.
