I love the song Amazing Grace, and these girls do a splendid job with it. What angelic voices, and what a gorgeous arrangement! The Cactus Cuties feature Madeline Powell (age 10), Blaire Elbert (12), Andi Kitten (13),  and Baylee Barrett (15). Movie Suggestion!! Ioan Gruffudd also did a splendid job singing this song in the movie “Amazing Grace” (2006). He has a powerful voice, and his acting prowess made William Wilberforce one of my favorite heroes. You hear of people making speeches, passing bills, and fighting for freedom. As a student the stories are tedious flashcards. Amazing Grace, however, brings the truth home. You feel the sting of slavery. You see the sweat that ended its run in England. Woah, I love that movie! It’s, well, amazing!

There was some red that most in Huskerland didn’t want to see on Saturday. So, on that note, I will start looking to some better red colors… Christmas. Only a couple more months away!!!

I love our National Anthem.

What is it about the Star Spangled Banner?  I was thinking about this today after seeing a video one of my former players posted on Facebook.  I think of the Star Spangled Banner as a song that should be sung with reverence and with the utmost respect.  Unfortunately, it seems that people who disrespect our country’s Anthem or can’t remember the words while singing it are those that are best remembered.  First, here is the disgusting rendition by Roseanne Barr in 1990 before a San Diego Padre’s game.

Then there is the often viewed National Anthem blooper reel from You Tube.

Finally, here is the video posted by one of my former players.  With all the renditions that receive publicity for negative reasons, I thought I would share one of the finest performances of the Star Spangled Banner I have heard.  Enjoy.

These girls are incredible, and the one that is soloing, is the youngest and started singing in this group where she was 4.  Chose for yourself which one ya think is better.  Me personally, I like both of them…

…amidst numerous videos and reports on liberal-fascist indoctrination efforts upon our schoolchildren, here is something that truly brought tears to my eyes and instilled me with hope; a true testament to the Christian principles upon which our nation is founded.

If you’ve never seen this video, you have to check it out. This was actually about 2 years ago. It has made it around youtube and fb, but it’s worth a listen again.  A group of 6, 7, and 8 year old girls called the Cactus Cuties sang the national anthem at a Texas Tech basketball game. The place was mesmerized as these young girls sang tribute to our nation. It will give you goosebumps! Listen and enjoy…and be proud to be an American!

Listening to this video gave me goosebumps as it was done so well.

Five little girls between the ages of 6-8 (I believe they all themselves the Cactus Cuties) sang the National Anthem at a Texas Tech University basketball game.

The song was sung to perfection.  I am not sure if there are very many others that can match it.
