Jag har ju inte uppdaterat om helgens bravader Så här kommer det lite…

Började dagen med att möta upp Anna utanför Café Basilica för en kaffe, och vips så gick vi in för att säga hej till söta Amanda och lilla Mathilda som jobbade och slet som inga andra…

Gick sedan vidare ner till staden för lite shopping och vi passade på att springa förbi söta lilla Kockish som jobbade inne på Face. Söt tjejen hade ju inte sett Eddää… och vi pratade lite och så… alltid kul att se henne.

För mig blev det en latte på 1821-innergårdens Café och vi satt och hade det supermysigt efter allt spring i affärerna. Edwin sov så sött i vagnen och verkade verkligen trivas med tillvaron.

Och Anna mumsade macka med kaffe.

Sen på kvällen var det dags för Peters spelning på M.S. Medvind. Så då rockade man till sig lite. Lite småmissnöjd med sotningen… men men… blir bättre nästa gång.

Peter har stylat till sig lite inför spelningen… Tycker själv att det är lite löjligt med hans ringar och bling bling, men är man rockare så är man. Haha… men faktiskt så bär han upp det på ett riktigt bra sätt på scen. Älsklingen.

Jag smälter så fort jag ser Peter in action med sin bas… iaf på scen. Han är verkligen jätteduktig!

Efter Lord Xon så spelade trillingarna… lite rockabilli rock kan man säga att det var, inte riktigt min kopp the… men dom är ändå ganska coola, emot min vilja. Har inte riktigt tyckt att dom varit nå speciella… innan jag såg dom i lördags. Man förstår ju nu varför dom har haft lite framgång på olika plan i L.A.

A point of difference is crucial for businesses, especially in competitive market sectors.  This is being demonstrated perfectly by news from earlier in the week, that a popular international chain (Ilan’s Coffee House in Tel Aviv) is offering free fortune telling with a cup of your favourite brew.

Marketing manager Michal Steg has hired a “gypsy” soothsayer to teach staff how to interpret the residue that remains in the cup after the coffee is consumed.  This is despite a similar service in 2007 raising a charge of practicing magic against the ‘futurista barista’ (which can carry a penalty of up to 5 years jail).

The reading process is known as Tasseography – a fortune telling method that interprets patterns in tea leaves, coffee grounds or wine sediments. In the grinds they are looking for symbols, and contrast of colour between the cup and the grinds (white = good, dark grind symbols = bad).

Some of the symbol meanings include:

• Apple – achieving knowledge, completing school, getting a diploma
• Birds – if flying, it means good news
• Candle – enlightenment
• Cat – a deceitful friend or relative
• Dog – loyal friend or relative
• Kite – wishes will come true
• Raven – death or bad news

Not sure what it means if the flying bird looks like a raven (there’s some good news and some bad news…)!  Apparently, if your grinds just look like grinds, it means that your coffee is finished and you need another cup…

Firefox Face Looking Left - see it?

This got me thinking – instead of reading the grinds when the coffee is empty, what about reading the head of a cappuccino or a latte instead? Coffee Horoscopes or ‘Coffoscopes’ should definitely be the next big thing in cafe culture.

In the above picture, there is clearly a face looking left, with what looks like the Mozilla Firefox logo attached to the back of the head, no? What could this mean?  You need to install a software update for your computer?

What about this one?  This clearly looks like a man with a Pinocchio-like nose, a broad brimmed hat and some sort of floral embellishment on his left shoulder.  Perhaps this is suggesting an outfit for the Spring Racing Carnival?

Scream Halloween Outfit - for sure!

The final picture is a ghoulish figure, with a Scream-like mask, and a huge brushed forward quiff.  This picture was taken only a couple of days before Halloween, and the coincidence is too great to be ignored.  It must be a sign to go trick or treating!

Whatever you do, the next time you order a coffee, take a close look at the image your cuppa is presenting to you.  It can’t be any less scientific than your average newspaper horoscope?

Big Bang retorno a los escenarios en Corea,realizaron un mini concert para “Caffe Latte” el 26 de Agosto en HongDae,despues de haberse presentado por última vez hace 4 meses en su país.

400 fans fueron escogidos por sorteo para poder asistir al show,el único problema fue la ausencia de Daesung quien esta recuperando de su reciente operación.

El grupo canto temas como “Sunset Glow”,”Last Farewell” y el tema del comercial de caffe latte “Youthful You” durante 1 hora,tiempo aprox. que duro el show,tambien hablaron con los fans quienes tuvieron la oportunidad de hacer preguntas a los integrantes del grupo.

Idol group Big Bang has come together on one stage after 4 months in Korea.

They held a mini concert for the product cafe latte on 26th August in HongDae, a first in 4 months since they last Hite guerilla concert in spring in Korea.

The event is organised by Meil Dairy products and 400 lucky fans were able to attend this standing concert. The only thing was that member Daesung was not able to join the other 4 Big Bang members for the concert as he is still recuperating from his recent operation.

The boys performed their hits like ‘Sunset Glow‘, ‘Last Farewell’ and Cafe Latte’s CM song ‘Youthful You’ etc in the 1 hour concert.

The group also had a little dialogue session with the fans where they answer their questions.

O grupo Big Bang se juntaram mais uma vez no palco na Coreia depois de 4 meses.

Eles se juntaram pra um concerto pro produto caffe latte dia 26 de Agosto em HongDae, a primeira vez depois de 4 meses que se apresentam na Coreia desde o último concerto Hite guerilla.

O evento foi organizado pelo ”Meil Dairy products” e 400 fãs sortudos puderam estar nesse evento. A única coisa foi que infelizmente o membro DaeSung não pode comparecer devido a sua recente operação.

Os meninos apresentaram algumas músicas famosas deles como ‘Sunset Glow’ , ‘Last Farewell’e a música do CF da Caffe Latte ‘Youthful’ e mais algumas na sua apresentação de 1 hora.

O grupo também teve um momento de perguntas e respostas com os seus fãs.

The latest Battleground on capitalistic Main Street is what some people like to call the Coffee Wars.     This divide is clearly more a battle about revenue brought in by frothed milk, whipped cream and syrup than about coffee.  McDonald’s is promoting its McCafe line of espresso/milk-based beverages. While Starbucks, the coffee shop chain that brought the Mocha Latte to Main Street.  They reminded me of Edusco Coffee Bars on the street corners of many European cities.

The battlefront that seems to have escaped much comment so far, however, is how the caffeinated beverages themselves stack up. Frothed milk can be frothed in different ways, some syrups are better than other syrups, and the drinks can be assembled differently. Finally, coffee is buried in the drink somewhere, and its character and quality does have an impact on how much pleasure we take in all of the milk and the syrups.

McDonald’s has even brought wireless Internet connections to their fast food venues.  In my town McDonald’s and Starbucks are directly across the street from one another.  Staring each other down across the double yellow line.

Compare The Favorites.

A sampling of hot, espresso/milk-based beverages in two McDonald’s locations offering the new McCafe menu, and the similar four beverages at two nearby Starbucks locations.

The choices: A cappuccino, cafe latte, cafe mocha (espresso, frothed milk and chocolate syrup) and caramel latte.  Sampling the modest, twelve-ounce size of each of the four beverages (“tall” at Starbucks, “small” at McDonald’s). The assumption was that by attentively sampling the these four favorites one could get a general idea of how the programs generally compare for the man or woman on Main Street.

The trade-off is price. McDonald’s is less costly: about 16% to 19% less for the cappuccinos and cafe lattes that were sampled, 26% less for the cafe mocha.

So on to the test: Are you likely to find 16% to 27% more pleasure in your caffeine kick at Starbucks than you would in the less expensive versions at McDonald’s?

What Does It All Mean?

It appears that at this front of the war you get what you pay for, particularly when it comes to caffeinated drinks that include syrups and whipped cream.

Although we preferred the more intense Starbucks cappuccino to the milkier McDonald’s version, many consumers understandably may prefer the McDonald’s. The difference in cafe lattes was subtle, perhaps not worth fussing over for most taste buds, although we found the Starbucks version more palatable.

However, the superiority of the Starbucks versions of caffè mocha and caramel latte was dramatic, and significant, given consumer preference for espresso beverages involving added syrups. From observation, Starbucks simply used considerably better quality syrups and whipped cream and added them with a more gourmet-like hand.

Finally, are you buying the caffeine or that extra flavoring?  It appears that the darker roasted, sharper Starbucks espresso blend would favor the caffeine addict. Starbucks contributed a tastier and more complex coffee flavor to the milk and flavorings than did the apparently sweeter, more syrup laden McDonald’s blend.

However, do not sell McDonald’s short.  They have just begun their program and their flavorings or lower price points are appealing to many parents who pop in to give their youngsters a  McBreakfast.

Ok, det är såå fem år sen det var hippt, men det existerar fortfarande. Jag ser dem fortfarande…
