Have you experienced raising big amounts of money with the help of your fundraising partner?

No? Well, raising money is a really tough job but absolutely not for Avatar Technologies!

Fundraising is a challenging campaign that most contact centers have. Gathering voluntary donations from private individuals is hard given that we are all experiencing the effects of global recession. Every sector is affected by this situation making it a lot tougher for call centers to raise funds for their clients.

But hey, every challenge comes a solution that needs to be implemented to solve the problem!

Most contact centers focus more on winning the campaign from their competitors but pays less attention on developing and implementing the most effective strategy to generate larger funds for their clients. They have:

poorly trained agents.

agents who fumbles with words.

agents who lacks rebuttal skills.

agents with higher rates of abandoned calls.

a software that can’t call your leads in seconds.

They don’t provide you the results that you expect!

To generate more money for a fundraising campaign, fundraising companies need to have these two things: 1) enthusiastic sales force, and 2) a fundraising partner that provides top notch service from beginning to end of the campaign. Having a partner with years of experience is one of the best ways to avoid pitfalls and stick to a tried and proven approach that delivers consistently outstanding results. If you choose to work with Avatar Technologies you will have the following advantage:

Years of experience in running fundraising campaigns

Highly trained agents

Agents who sound like native English speakers

Agents with excellent rebuttal skills

Agents who are driven to make hot transfers to a closer

Rare cases of abandoned calls

Software that calls your leads in seconds

Ten times more cost-effective than other centers

At Avatar Technologies, we bring our experience and expertise in outbound fundraising to your doorstep. Grab this chance of raising more funds by contacting us at once via email at info@avatar.com.ph!

Right now is a bit frustrating as we are getting to the crossroads where we can suddenly either leap

Right now is a bit frustrating as we are getting to the crossroads where we can suddenly either leap forward or be stuck where we are until we get some more clients on board. Its surprising to think we started with 5 agents and now have 20+ . We have a client looking to add another 27 but for me I like to have more smaller clients. Much rather have 40 people employed with 10 clients as it allows for issues like this week. Clients server went down so then its a case of stopping his campaign, if the agents could have transferred onto another campaign straight away because of lots of small clients everyone would have worked all week.

So this is why we are needing another new business manager, we are keeping the current one but needing to add another. The job involves hunting down new clients and converting them into ongoing clients with us. In return you will gain a percentage of every sale you bring in on an ongoing basis. For example if your client renewed you would still be getting paid until they eventually stop working with us. In reality though you could find yourself making some serious money as we want to keep our clients renewing.

We have good staff here and I want to continue to grow the company with them. But this is why I need another new business manager. We pay well and as such you need to be able to keep all our agents busy. How you get the clients onboard is no doubt a mix of calling, emailing and searching for them.

Can you do it? Ideally need someone experienced in this role as its not an easy job to start.

Every day in Customer Service jobs everywhere, the advisors deal with all manner of people, and queries.
Here are some of our best, proving that even though the common thread is that ‘The Customer Is Always Right’ they can also be completely wrong, stupid, funny, frustrating, and anything in between…

1. Customer (C) – “I need to find out if I owe anything on an old address where I was paying by Direct Debit”
Advisor (A) – “ok, could I take the address it relates to please?”
C – “um, it could be —— “
A – “i’m sorry, that postcode relates to a different number”
C – “oh…that’s coz it’s number — instead”
A – “Sorry but nothing shows for that address”
C – “well that’s just the address that I was living at, at the time, and the debt is for somewhere else that I lived before that”
A – “so can I take the address that the debt was for please?”
C – “ok, it’s postcode —— and the address is ——”
A – “I’m sorry but that postcode matches a different street than the one you stated…it’s ———”
C – “well I did live at another number on that street, but the debt is for ———-”
A – “ok, i’ll check that one”…”i’m sorry, but I cannot find any details for you at that address. Would it be listed under any other name?”
C – “No, it was just me…But my ex partner did live there too and he stitched me up”
A – “So it could be under your ex’s name instead, for that address?”
C – “yes”
A – “Could I have their name then please?”
C – “Oh it won’t be in their name…”
A – SILENT SCREAM…

Is money that insignificant to you that you don’t know where you are paying for?!
can you not just answer the questions directly with the right answer, instead of wasting yours and my time?!

2. C (very aggressive) – “I want to speak to someone about crabs”
A (with a wry little smile) – “In what respect?”
C – “They’re off and I want to return them”
A – “I’m sorry Sir but you need to ring the company who sent them to you, in order to return them”
C – “But they smell and I want Environmental Health to deal with them”
A – “I am sorry, but if a faulty product has been delivered and you want to send it back, it needs to be the company you bought them from. We have nothing to do with return of faulty goods”
C – “But they smell, and I want rid of them”
A – “Again, you need to deal with the company you bought them from. If they are off, they should arrange return and replacement, if that’s what you want”
C – “Well, you’re not very helpful…”
A – “With all due respect Sir, if you bought a loaf of bread which was off, you wouldn’t call a council, you would take it back to the bakery”

We are not interested in the fact that you have smelly crabs, Sir….But we did have a giggle at your expense!

3. C – “You called me…”
A – “Can I ask if you were expecting a call from ——”
C – “No, but they did leave a message”
A – “did they leave a name on the message?”
C – “I haven’t listened to it. I just called the number on my phone”
A – “Unfortunately, the number is from anyone ringing out of this building and we have over 1000 employees. If you could listen to the message then we can try and put you through to the person who contacted you”
C – “Oh I don’t use my message service coz it costs me money…don’t worry about it”
Caller hangs up…

Perhaps don’t be such a cheapskate about your messaging service, or if you don’t want to use it TURN IT OFF so you don’t keep bothering people like us with pointless phone calls!

4. C – “I want to talk about ———-”
A – “Ok, could I take your surname please?”
C – “Veronique”
A – “And your postcode?”
C – “29 ————”
A – “Sorry, it’s your postcode I need to take”
C – “I just gave it you!”
A – “I’m sorry but that was the first line of your address…it’s the postcode at the end of your address which is letters and numbers which I am asking for”
C – “Don’t know it…”
A – “Ok, I cannot find that name linked with that house number”
C – “Well you probably need my surname”
A – “I asked you for that at the start and you advised it was Veronique”
C – “Silly…you didn’t ask for my last name, you asked for my surname”

Ok, you need to go back to school and learn the difference between your surname and first/christian name, and work out that the postcode is not at the start of your address, it’s at the end!
Ever have an education?!

5. C – “I’d like to speak to someone about a slight problem I have”
A – “Ok Madam, what is the problem?”
C – “well, I woke up this morning and I now appear to have a vibrating bush”
A (big smirk) – “I’m sorry to hear that…”
C – “As you can imagine it was quite a shock to wake up, look out the window and see that my bush was suddenly vibrating when it was fine yesterday…I think it must be bees!”
A – “I shall put you through to speak to our Environmental team then, and hopefully they can stop your bush vibrating soon!”
C – “Thank you so much, as you can imagine, it’s quite distressing!”

God bless this lady and her bees for much needed light amusement and smut.

Back in the last 1990s, when’ e-tailers’ first started taking market share from high str

Back in the last 1990s, when’ e-tailers’ first started taking market share from high street retailers, those traditional shop owners confidently predicted that it would be just a fad. While online shopping might be cheaper, they argued, they would never be able to compete with bricks-and-mortar shops on the all-important issue of customer service therefore, before long, shoppers would log off and head back to the high street.

Since then we have seen a host of high street names go out of business: in just the past few months Blockbuster, HMV, Jessops and Comet have closed their doors to shoppers. According to a report by PwC and the Local Data Company, in the first six months of 2012, 953 more shops closed than were opened across the UK. The comparable figure for the whole of 2011 was 174, suggesting that the decline of the high street is accelerating.

It would be easy to see this trend as evidence that UK consumers no longer care about customer service. Yet, in fact, quite the reverse is true: many e-tailers listened to traditional retailers in the late 1990s, took on board their message about the importance of customer service and set about delivering a better service online than traditional retailers had ever been able to deliver.

Ford Retail Online is a good example of this. When Ford Retail launched its website it could have relied on price alone to differentiate itself from traditional showrooms. However, it knew that people still wanted the advice and service that they were used to from that face-to-face experience, so it invested in a sophisticated customer contact platform.

The platform provides customer service agents with screen pops containing relevant information on the individual customer they are dealing with, regardless of the channels the customer has used throughout their dealings with the company. In many cases, this instant information on customer history, as well as on vehicle availability and specification, allows agents to provide the customer even more detailed advice and service than they might receive in a traditional showroom.

This attention to customer service has been a major factor in Ford Retail Online’s success as, indeed, it has been with many other e-tailers. However, not all have followed this model; many chose to focus solely on price and many of them have now gone the way of Blockbuster, HMV, Jessops and Comet. So, the lesson is clear: regardless of whether you are a bricks-and-mortar retailer or trade on the virtual high street, ignore customer service at your peril.

Bad start to the week when we had a power cut swiftly followed by the telephone exchange being damaged by the surge of the power coming back on.

We already have two connections on different networks and now having to add a third to make sure we can operate 100%. We already invested in a generator to keep the power on and we will have to invest in yet another generator later in the year as we grow.

But with a country promoting itself as being a fantastic place to outsource and BPO as number one on the planet. Isn’t it about time that the government and its infrastructure companies started playing the game too!! Companies here are already committed to bringing work to the country yet its the country that is letting companies down.

Intel recently pulled out of the Philippines with most of the blame going to the cost of electricity in the country. Yet here we are in a country full of natural gas off the Southern Islands.

About time the government stopped patting itself on the back for “job well done” when in reality they haven’t done a great job. In fact its pretty dire! They need to start waking up to the fact that Cebu and Manila could be the next Hong Kong or Singapore in the business world.

Right now we are busy with a large campaign that could see us expand to 100 people within months. But that being a telesales project what about everything else going on?

Fact is many companies out there today are struggling in some form. Even when your talking to small business owners they are thinking part-time workers over full-time due to costs. But also an uncertain future that is making them tighten their belt.

But at the same time because business is so tight shouldn’t they actually be looking to expand but in a smart way?

Because lets face it how much is the minimum wage in the U.S. or UK these days? Because in many cases for small businesses this is the main deciding factor when looking at staff. Because its simply too expensive for many job roles in a company.

For example someone processing orders for a flower store could be sat in the Philippines, doing the transactions, getting the orders and simply emailing the business owner as to when the order has to be delivered etc. in the same way programming all the delivery can also be carried out remotely. Leaving the business owner to get on with running the business instead of stuck on the phone.

In the same way generating sales and building relationships with clients can also be done from the Philippines. The weekly call to check that a customer is happy with their last order and hopefully getting repeat orders. The relationship building that leads to increased business isn’t always something the owner of a company can do or allocate time to do. But out here in the Philippines it can be managed and cost affective. To the point the extra “communication” would very likely increase the orders and customer satisfaction to a point where having the agents in the Philippines is actually increasing sales regularly.

These types of things are just examples of where people can’t see job openings in their own company yet they are there. In the same way it doesn’t take jobs from the local communities because quite simply they would never exist! Its too expensive to hire locals due to regulations and employment codes. But it doesn’t get away from the fact there is a need for the jobs to get done.

When outsourcing started in the Philippines I am sure one of the things that got overlooked was the

When outsourcing started in the Philippines I am sure one of the things that got overlooked was the fact many expats are not only heading to the country but also looking to top up pensions or make a local income. This is where these days its not hard to find expats working in Call Center’s in the Philippines. In fact we started our own full blown call center recently called BPO24hour.com which offers not only BPO services but also Telesales marketing both inbound and outbound.

Not going to pitch the business too much but one of the things worth doing if looking to move to the Philippines is to canvas round the call centers in advance and see if they have any openings. Initially the bigger ones mainly wanted foreigners in to help train the staff on things like accents. But now there are a lot of smaller call centers out there also looking to employ expats full-time in various forms.

As a new business manager its a lot of emailing and contacting people back in your home country, but for a company dealing with someone that originally came from the West it gives them confidence in the ability of the outsourcing company to deliver. At the same time it works just as well on the call center as an agent, as American’s talking to American’s who are regional aware and speak the same accents also means there is a much higher success of selling. For the call center this is a bit of a boost to the sales team but also not just for sales. Filipino’s generally like having foreign friends and having one as a co-worker or boss generally people like to promote them as their buddy. Its not hard to find as an expat on Facebook for example you gain lots of friends via one Filipino friend. Because culturally Filipinos are extremely friendly and welcoming people.

If your retired or moving to the Philippines full-time, having a job at a call center also keeps you involved in the local community and increases your network of social friends. This makes living in the Philippines a lot less isolated and a lot more local community based. Also works out a lot cheaper with issues that sometimes arise by someone having a “cousin,Brother,Sister” who works at immigration or other government offices. Because its not about corruption but as a foreigner many things aren’t so clear cut in process so having a “friend” say just ask for my sister etc. it takes a lot of the headaches out of processing things like your visa or driving license for example.

My much awaited call from the CSC help desk arrived this morning but despite valiant efforts the age

My much awaited call from the CSC help desk arrived this morning but despite valiant efforts the agent was unsuccessful, of itself neither A surprise or a concern. Later in the day I received a classic follow up call:

‘it is the help desk I ring because you have a problem where you cannot connect to the intranet’
‘that’s right’
‘how is this problem?’
‘well I cannot connect to the intranet’
‘ah so it is not fixed?’
‘Nope’
‘are you at the office?’
‘yes’
‘can I connect remotely to your machine?’
‘you can try but your colleague failed this morning’
‘ah I will call again in some hours’

Needless to say no return call was received, several attempts to escalate and to resolve has ended up with a friendly field service guy telling them he has visited and it needs new hardware. The scary thing about all of these support services that we pay so much for is that they restrict field techs and reduce numbers so we pay for a worse service than we already had and we pay more for it.

Andy explained that last night his Pierre Marco White food blender had exploded and scared his wife, looking at the offending item it suffered the trademark failures of equipment that is MIC* (made in china) and was asking for this type of failure. Andy was all set to fire into the supplier but I coached him in the ways of debate, he should raise this serious safety incident for the benefit of other consumers rather than demand a replacement. Well I thought that I had him well schooled until I saw his planned letter which seemed to focus very much on a certain shaggy haired chef because ‘it has his name on it’ hopefully we will be able to avoid a full on stalking incident at a well known London restaurant!

I think Dr Evil has planted some software on my laptop, yesterday I viewed a website of a manufacturer of Tunnel Boring Machines which are truly feats of Engineering. Now today I received one of those calls where you are racking your brain to work out the caller’s identity, I knew the accent but couldn’t quite place him. I concluded it was an agent when he launched into his speech about meeting his client in London over Easter, he knew it was a bank holiday but they would send a car and it was all looking rosy. I asked who he was expecting to answer and he sheepishly replied ‘Derek’ so I explained I was not him, he apologised and ended the call. The odd thing about my wrong number? The client was the same TBM manufacturer, how did they know?

* Thanks Vicky

A problem with my laptop led me to call CSC yesterday, you may recall the name from such headlines as ‘CSC loses NHS contract’ or ‘CSC dropped by Ford’ but hey nobody can be successful all of the time. CSC know me by the number that they assign to my laptop and numbers are fairly easy to get through language barriers but for some reason they insist on using my name. So we start with an automated voice saying ‘if you require assistance in another language press the star key now’, I’ve tried pressing this in the past and asking for English but it didn’t change inevitable result.

- ‘Hello thank you for calling CSC can I have your last name please?’
- young Y-O-U-N-G
- ‘yuong’ and your first name please?’
- no its Y-O-U-N-G
- ‘hello Mr yuong young, I’m sorry but I cannot find you on the system’

I won’t continue as I am sure that most of you understand the frustration of call centres, we eventually got my name correct and having confirmed that I had restarted my laptop we raised a ticket. At the stage of raising a ticket I had to provide my asset number, this took 3 attempts despite what I thought was clear enunciation of the 6 digits. Apparently my account had been disabled and needed a managers approval to reinstate, I had to question this as it had worked only an hour previously but the guy was adamant. Luckily he assisted by telling me who my manager was, not someone that has ever been my manager ‘who is your new manager?’ ‘I don’t have a new manager but that person has never been my manager’ after a good rant my call centre buddy acknowledged that he had pressed ‘page Down’ and was looking at the wrong person!

This morning brought heartening news on the television, they have identified a means of improving the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease, great news. But hang on Ms Nature wouldn’t let her dark humour escape such a thing would she? Oh no of course not, the improvement is obtained by . . . . dancing. So we take people that are losing control of their motor functions and put them in ballet lessons because it appears to improve the affects, really? That is like saying that we have found that a good way of getting over ghost limb syndrome for double amputees is to make them walk!

These poor people struggle to achieve the basic movements that we take for granted whoever considered giving them ballet lessons? When they showed the class on the television it looked like Swan Lake performed by the damned. It occurred to me that there are two reasons for this scenario, either its an inadvertent consequence of some cruel act by carers or, and I think this more likely, it is another example of the spiteful cruelty we have come to expect of Ms Nature.

On a happy note I must say that I am looking forward to work tomorrow, my CSC colleagues should spend most of the morning trying to understand whatever has gone wrong with my laptop which is always entertaining. In addition we apparently have 6 dolls arriving, admittedly they are only bodies as they are resuscitation training aids but the guy they are coming for is not back until Friday which should give us enough time to dress them up appropriately and perhaps arrange for a dolls tea party in one of the meeting rooms.
