If you weren’t impressed with the Abu Dhabi police department’s acquiring of a Nissan Skyline, be prepared to get blown away. The UAE has been known to be the master of PR in the region, meaning it knows how to put a spin on anything and you have to respect that!

To promote road safety in Abu Dhabi, the police force decided to showcase some of their cavalry. I had learned about the Skyline only recently, but I had no clue that they had a new Chevy Camaro, a custom Orange County Choppers (OCC) motorcycle dubbed “The Falcon”, and an open-wheel race car in full police gear (lights and sirens) called the F999 in their arsenal!

Thumbs up to the Abu Dhabi police for doing something different to raise awareness on the importance of road safety.

I’m a car nut, so when I lived in Chicago, going to the Chicago Auto Show was pretty much an annual pilgrimage for me.  Now that I’m in Arizona, the idea of going back to Chicago in the dead of winter just to see the new models and concept cars; well, I think I’ll hold off- at least this year.

But I’d still like to be able to drool over the new models and concept cars, so I was happy to learn about the Arizona International Auto Show, going on today through Sunday at the Phoenix Convention Center.

According to The Arizona Republic, the manufacturers scheduled to show off their new must-have new rides include Chevy and their new Camaro, the 2010 Ford Taurus and 2011 Super Duty, Lexus’ hybrid HS250h, and Hyundai’s Genesis Coupe. And Lexus won’t be the only manufacturer there with new ‘green’ offerings- Toyota, Honda, Mazda, Ford, and GM nameplates Chevrolet, GMC, and Cadillac will be among those showcasing new fuel-sipping hardware.

In addition, there will be some drool-worthy dream (for all but the most well-heeled attendees) cars on display- Rolls-Royce, Bentley’s new Azure, Aston Martin (for those of you who, like me, dream of one day rolling like James Bond), Maserati, and Ferrari.  Lamborghini will have a Gallardo Spyder on display… and Porsche will have its all-new (and first-ever) four-door Porsche Panamera there for potential owners to check out.  These ne plus ultra iterations of the automobile (and in all likelihood, most destined to be garage queens) are all on display courtesy of their respective local dealerships: Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Scottsdale, Bentley Scottsdale, Aston Martin Scottsdale, Scottsdale Ferrari-Maserati, and Lamborghini North Scottsdale.

The show will be open Friday and Saturday from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, and on Sunday from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

Admission is $9.00 for adults (well, anybody 13 and over); seniors, military, students, and children (7-12) are $5.00, and anybody under 6 gets in free. Sunday is even ‘Family Day’, so kids under 12 get in free with a paying adult!

Maybe you can tack this all to jealousy, but screw Virgil Coffman and his bright yellow, Transformers-special edition, 426-hp Camaro and the New York Times Blog for running an article on him on November 18th. Now why would NYT care to mention the fact that he bought one on a trade? Because the old fart’s gonna be 102 in January! That makes him older than the Model T! (Find out more after the jump.)

Trading in a Monte Carlo to help close the $38,000 deal, Virgil who has not seen either of the movies (surprise! probably never even heard of them – “Was that one of those moving picture dealies?” -Ed.) chose the car because he liked the design, because he doesn’t need “one of those big cars anymore,” and because of the limited-release of the model. With only 1,500 being released, ol’ Virgil considers it something of a collector’s item saying, and I quote (the dealer, relaying it first-hand): “If I keep that 10 or 12 years, it will be worth about $100,000.”

That’s him (the dodgery old white guy hiding behind the car door; what, do you think, he found the Tanning Bed of Youth on a crazy adventure with Bumblebee?) with VP of Global Design for GM, Ed Welburn. When interviewed for the article, Virgil said he “…like(s) to kick it up, [...] [b]ut I’m afraid to drive too fast and get a ticket, and then they might take my license away.” Since September, he’s put 1,800 miles on the carriage, but has yet to take it more than 50 miles outside Decatur, where he resides, presumably for fear of forgetting where he lives.

Deu uma bruta saudade do meu 72, em que pese as diferenças dos motores, mas isso é outro papo. E assim, a garagem formou o trio completo, Ford, Dodge e Chevy. Gostei das fotos, aí estão elas. This week’s ebay Motors Showdown really hit a chord with people. Even with our ongoing commenting issues (now even I can’t comment, and yes, we are working on it) we got a HUGE response on this one. At first it looked like the IROC was gonna walk away with it, but then the Fox body rallied, and in the end this one is just too close to call!

Looks like the 1988 Camaro IROC Z-28 got bid up to $4,550 with the reserve still not met before time ran out. The 1989 Mustang GT auction still has three days to go, with the bid currently at $2,550. But any way you look at it, both of these cars offer a big bang for the buck. And we’ll definitely run more Mustang vs. Camaro shoot outs in the future, cause they are a of of fun!

Here’s a great one for you. The GM public relations machine was hoping for young buyers for the new 2010 Camaros, but one guy just single-handedly brought up the average. He’s 101 years old! Virgil Coffman in Decatur, Illinois, was not going to let age stop him from motoring in a new Trans4mers edition V8-powered Camaro.

Ok guys, time for a 3rd gen vs. Fox body showdown! This 1989 Mustang GT looks to have been nicely redone and it’s a 5 speed to boot. The 1988 Camaro IROC Z-28 is unrestored and has some fading paint, but this is slightly rarer car, too, with the L98 5.7 liter TPI (which was only available with the automatic). And of course both come in a killer black/grey color combo. So, which would you choose?

Ah, motorsports–it’s so much more than racing these days. The motorsports contingent is always huge at SEMA, and it’s one of those categories that can literally go from A to Z: there are so many variations on automotive competition that there’s no way you can expect to capture a representative cross-section. That’s okay–it just allows us to focus on what we find cool, with shameless subjectivity. In the interests of inclusiveness, we’ve tried to hit as many of the hottest motorsports series as our five entries will allow. NASCAR is represented by the new Nationwide Series Mustang, running Ford’s all-new Roush Yates FR9. Then there’s the 2010 Camaro’s debut entry in Formula Drift, which will definitely be on our radar in the coming season. Chris Rado’s insane Time Attack Scion carries the torch for that genre. SCCA is represented, albeit in vintage form, by Bob Boileau’s multiple-championship-winning Civic. And the Traxxas short-course race truck rounds out the motorsports fleet for off-road racing. This blog post goes for 60’s! Earlier I showed you some trailers from Mustang movies. I have also posted a lot of Mustang music videos. But now you can see the first steps of a Mustang in advertisement industry. There are more commercials of course and my blog is unlimited, but I really appreciate your time and trying to select the best ones:

To your dismay, the couple you follow on your favorite TV drama has a nasty blowup over infidelity. In a dress by Vera Wang, the distraught woman sobs alone in her dark apartment with her back against the bedroom door. Her scorned lover races off in his 2010 Camaro. He shakes his head in disbelief about the betrayal and then suddenly punches the dash.

In my view, the song, “Ambulance,” by Eisley on the new EP, “Fire Kite,” was born for moments like this.

The track explores the kind of emotional hurt that only a romantic relationship can inflict – when your broken heart aches so badly you may need to call an ambulance.

Intentionally or not, Eisley, a group from Tyler, Texas, made up of four sibling twenty-somethings and a cousin, has written a song that could fit nicely in the “Grey’s Anatomy” genre of music, an unlikely category that has emerged since the TV show debuted in 2005. Grey’s Anatomy has featured a who’s who of cool young artists, including KT Tunstall, Ingrid Michaelson, Anna Nalick, Brandi Carlile, Peter Bjorn and John, The Bird and the Bee and Feist.

In recent years, Eisley has toured with several well-known bands, including (you may have seen this coming) “Grey’s Anatomy” soundtrack alumni Coldplay, Snow Patrol, The Fray and Gomez.

To get a feel for the song, “Ambulance,” think of the emotional intensity of tunes like Sarah McLachlan’s “I Will Remember You,” along with the sweetness of Lisa Loeb & Nine Stories’ song, “Stay.”

So grab a box of napkins, a quart of ice cream and experience the song, “Ambulance,” by Eisley on the EP “Fire Kite” (Sire Records Company, released Oct. 9, 2009).

Med genopfindelsen af den nye retrostylede Camaro, kommer der i hundredevis af tunerfirmaer frem, der tilbyder at fremstille deres helt egen version meddele der kan købes aftermarket. Det var kun et spørgmål om tid, for hvornår der dukkede versioner op med navne på man kender fra den gang i tredserne.

 Nu er de også ved at være med alle sammen, Nickey Chevrolet, Baldwin Motion, Harell, Thomas, Gibb og hvad de hedder alle sammen, selv ZL1 er blevet genopfundet. General Motors vil heller ikke stå tilbage så de har registreret COPO til brug på en senere model.

Selvfølgelig er Godfather’en til dem alle, Yenko, også blevet hevet op af mølposen og med vellignende stribesæt og tilhørende performance modifikationer, skal der nu sælges Yenko Camaroer som aldrig før.

Nu er det her jo gode gamle USA ,så det varer jo ikke ret længe før der oprulles en retsag.

Navnene “Yenko” og “sYc” har i mange år tilhørt en Camaro reservedels pusher Classic Automotive Restoration Specialists (CARS) som nu har overdraget rettighederne til et firma der hedder General Marketing Capital Incorporated eller GMCI. No problemo der, selv om det måske er en smule søgt at initialerne skal lyde som noget der har noget med GM at gøre, for det har de slet ikke.

Alt i alt det er der sådan set ikke noget problem i. CARS har produceret helt nye Yenko Camaro’s i mere end et år nu, ved brug af nye 69 Camaro karrosserier fra Dynacorn, de har oven i købet fået en pris for deres nyudvikling på sidste års SEMA show, alt er skønneste orden, men…

De har godt nok haft rettighederne i mange år, men de har ikke rigtigt brugt dem, Don Yenko som er død og borte for en del år siden, hans familie (kone og børn) hedder jo stadig det samme (Man kan allerede mærke hvor det bærer hen ad) de har nu fået samme ide, med en ny ægte Yenko Camaro.

 The Supercar Registry, eller Yenko Sportscar Club med tilhørende kæmpe hjemmeside og forum, har brugt navnet “Yenko” i mange flere år, og har underskrevene aftaler med Yenko familien om brugen af navnet. De har nu også gang i produktionen af en ægte Yenko Camaro på den nye model.

HALLOOOOO Hollywood hører i efter der ovre, jeg kan ikke være den eneste der ser et Yenko “made for TV”-retssalsdrama udfolde sig på min TVskærm en sen nattetime.
