Waters Says He’ll Perform if Israel Tears Down Wall

Pink Floyd’s former frontman Roger Waters said Tuesday he’ll take to the stage the minute Israel tears down its West Bank separation wall, just as he did in Berlin two decades ago when another wall came down.

Visiting a Palestinian refugee camp in the shadows of the towering concrete structure, the British rocker who co-wrote the iconic 1970s album “The Wall” said he hopes “this awful thing is destroyed soon.”

Waters, 65, said the West Bank wall has been on his mind since he first saw it up close in what he described as an eye-opening visit in 2006, following a concert in Israel.

“People who haven’t actually seen this, what’s going on here, can’t actually imagine the impression that it has on you, the sick, kind of churning feeling that you get in your very heart when you see this, how depressing it is,” Waters told The Associated Press in an interview.

Water’s comments didn’t sit very well with Israeli government spokesman Mark Regev, who, quoting The Wall’s most famous lyric, said “we don’t need no education” from Waters.

Israel began building the barrier — a concrete wall in urban areas and fence with sensors and barbed wire along rural stretches — in 2002 following Palestinian bombings and shooting attacks on Israeli civilians. Israel insists it’s a temporary security measure.

Palestinians says it’s a land grab because, once the final third is built, it will slice off 10 percent of the West Bank, part of the lands they want for their state.

The stretch of barrier between Jerusalem and the biblical West Bank town of Bethlehem consists of graffiti-covered gray slabs, with army watchtowers rising up at intervals. At an Israeli-run wall crossing, large crowds of Palestinians wait in long lines, particularly during morning rush hour, to reach jobs in Israel.

On the northern outskirts of Bethlehem, the Aida refugee camp, home to about 5,000 Palestinians, abuts the wall. Palestinian officials often escort foreign dignitaries to the camp — among them Pope Benedict XVI during his Holy Land pilgrimage last month — to illustrate the disruption of daily life by the barrier.

Waters dismissed Israel’s security argument, saying he believes the wall “is not here to stop Israelis being blown up on buses.” He said if that was the sole reason, “what’s it doing in the occupied territories, surrounding settlements and cutting (Palestinian) farmers off from their olive trees and so on and so forth?”

“This is an exercise of colonialism,” said Waters.

Regev said the barrier has sharply reduced Palestinian attacks, which have killed hundreds of Israelis since the outbreak of Israeli-Palestinian fighting in 2000.

“We don’t need no education about suicide bombers coming into Israel and murdering innocent people, and how the security barrier has prevented that by more than 95 percent.”

But Waters said he believes the barrier is indefensible.

“When you stand in front of an edifice like this, whether it’s here or outside a township in South Africa, or in the Warsaw Ghetto during the Second World War, or in Berlin in the 60s and 70s, it’s something you know instinctively that this is wrong. It’s a bad thing,” he said. “It cannot survive forever.”

If it does come down one day, he said, he’ll perform at the site, just like he did in 1990, at a spot where the Berlin Wall had fallen just a year earlier. “In fact, I would insist on it,” he said.

In the meantime, he’s considering performing elsewhere in the West Bank, perhaps in the town of Ramallah, but has not made firm plans. On Monday, Waters visited a refugee camp in the northern town of Jenin to support efforts to reopen a local movie house that closed in 1987.

When he played in Israel in 2006, he was criticized by Palestinian activists trying to organize a cultural boycott of Israel. Waters said he now feels ambivalent about having performed in Israel.

Waters, who left Pink Floyd in 1985, ruled out a reunion with his former band mates; their last joint performance was in 2005, for a Live 8 concert. “We had a great career as Pink Floyd. We all enjoyed it. We all worked together and enjoyed everything and it was brilliant. I think it’s over,” he said.

Você vê cadeados com segredo todos os dias, mas já parou para pensar o que há dentro deles? Neste artigo, descobriremos os segredos desse tipo de cadeado. Aqui está o cadeado que vamos explorar:

Abrir um cadeado nem sempre é fácil. Se fosse fácil, não haveria a necessidade de utilizar um. Mas uma vez que consegue abrir um cadeado, podemos encontrar um acúmulo de peças semelhantes:

Existem normalmente três cames em um cadeado com segredo. Neste cadeado, um dos cames é de metal e ligado diretamente à parte dianteira que gira. Os outros dois cames são de plástico. Existem dois espaçadores de plástico que se ajustam entre os cames:

Eles se encaixam em um eixo na parte de trás do cadeado com uma mola que pressiona a pilha de cames juntas quando o cadeado é montado. A mola causa fricção entre os cames para prendê-los no local.

Os cames possuem um dente em cada lado e esses dentes se encaixam quando os cames giram:

O objetivo dos cames é regular o trinco que encaixa a extremidade do gancho do cadeado. Os cames possuem reentrâncias. Quando elas se alinham adequadamente, a trava consegue se encaixar nelas e liberar o gancho:

Agora você compreenderá por que precisa fazer isso. Girando o indicador duas voltas completas, você conseguirá encaixar os dentes dos três cames, de maneira que os três cames girem como um só. Quando você girar em sentido anti-horário, somente o came superior estará girando. Quando você passa pelo primeiro número, o dente do primeiro came se encaixa no segundo came, de maneira que agora os dois cames estão se movendo. A fricção gerada pela mola, entretanto, mantém o terceiro came em sua posição. Quando você gira o disco em sentido horário novamente, somente o came do topo gira. Uma vez que as três reentrâncias estiverem alinhadas adequadamente por este processo, o cadeado se abrirá.

Les hyperconnectés sont qualifiés fréquemment de toxicomanes du web. Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, blogs, jeux en ligne (MMORPG), ils ont du mal à décrocher du mulot, du clavier et de l’écran. Une version plus spécialisée, les drogués des médias, ou news junkies, sont dans une recherche permanente et monomaniaque de l’information.

Un élément de des comportements de ces camés de l’info, et dans une moindre mesure des web addicts (les joueurs en ligne constituent un cas à part, en particulier quand ils en deviennent otaku, reclus chez eux) n’est pas suffisament mis en avant. Le véritable plaisir de cette addiction n’est pas dans l’acte lui-même mais dans son exploitation sociale a posteriori.

Dans une toxicomanie habituelle, qu’il s’agisse de substances psychotropes, de comportements sociaux (sexe, nourriture, pouvoir) ou d’alcoolisme, le plaisir, ce qui fait revenir à la chose est dans l’acte lui-même. Le fix, le sniff, l’orgie, le verre, c’est la consommation qui donne satisfaction, et qui donne envie de revenir par la suite à l’état de plaisir ou de satisfaction.

Après, c’est la chute, la descente, le manque. Il faut donc recommencer, car la privation stresse, et génère l’envie, psychologique et/ou psychique, de s’adonner à nouveau à son plaisir. Car en dehors des pratiques ou substances sévèrement addictives, c’est bien le besoin de recréer les conditions du plaisir qui pousse à recommencer. Progressivement, on en vient à augmenter les doses pour retrouver les effets désirés, c’est l’accoutumance.

Dans le cas des news junkies et des web addicts, il n’est pas du tout certain que le seul plaisir provienne de l’acte. Bloguer, commenter, twitter, chercher l’information, la commenter et l’enrichir, enquêter soi-même, parcourir au hasard son graphe social… Il y a là une certaine excitation. C’est le cas par exemple des moments que l’on perçoit comme historiques, quand on est face à des événements prenants, d’ordre privé ou globaux.

On peut ressentir le frisson, l’adrénaline quand le temps presse ou que l’information s’accélère (11 septembre 2001, nuit des présidentielles américaines qui vit la victoire de Barack Obama ou mort de Michael Jackson pour prendre trois cas récents), et même ne pas être spectateur passif. On peut chercher des sources, suivre des tendances, chercher de l’information alternative, dénicher des incohérences ou des maladresses. On peut même ne pas être passif du tout et commenter en temps réel, voire apporter un éclairage si l’on est connaisseur, témoin ou expert.

Les effets néfastes sur la vie sociale sont là également. Trop d’attention à donner peut nuire à la capacité de concentration et génèrerait une volatilité des pensées. Que dire de ceux qui restent connectés en permanence par peur de manquer quelque chose d’important dans le flux de l’information. Grâce aux appareils mobiles, ils sont connectés et lecteurs ou même actifs à table, avec leurs amis, en famille, voire aux toilettes ou à la messe. Certains en oublient les tâches quotidiennes, d’autres se mettent à tout analyser sous l’angle des médias sociaux (avant : “I’m blogging this”, aujourd’hui “ça se twitte”) avec le besoin compulsif de garder une trace numérique de tout, de tout partager.

Le manque existe aussi : les hyperconnectés sont mal quand ils n’ont plus d’accès à internet, quand la technique ne suit pas, quand ils ne peuvent satisfaire leur boulimie numérique. La cyberdépendance est d’ailleurs considérée comme une pathologie, même s’il semble que pour l’instant on ne traite que les joueurs en ligne et les clavardeurs (chatteurs, mais dit par nos camarades de la Belle Province) compulsifs.

Et bien entendu, certains tentent une cure, ou ont besoin d’un sevrage plus progressif en maintenant des doses minimes ou en cherchant des substituts.

Pour autant, le réel plaisir, la satisfaction personnelle (ego, sentiment de partager et de se rendre utile, reconnaissance sociale) vient plutôt après. Il y a comme un effet d’emmagasinage, de stockage, pour libérer le tout plus tard, comme un effet retard.

Etre dans la posture de celui qui sait est surtout valorisant dans la vie déconnectée, dans les relations sociales avec ses amis, ses collègues, ses connaissances. L’information est une monnaie sociale. C’est pourquoi son acquisition peut être grisante, comme l’est la constitution de richesses bien matérielles ou monétaires. On montre ce dont on est capable.

Nous sommes là face à une toxicomanie étrange où l’acte n’est pas la jouissance en soi, et où son exploitation s’effectue en-dehors du cadre de son exercice même. Un peu comme si un alcoolique était d’un coup éméché lors d’un repas sobre alors qu’il a bu trois jours avant, ou comme si un sex-addict prenait son pied durant un repas dominical avec sa famille puritaine. Car jusqu’à présent, être news junkie est parfois considéré avec dédain ou ironie, mais pas (encore ?) avec dégoût ou horreur.

El pasado 6 de agosto del corriente año, en el transcurso de la reunión mantenida con el presidente del Banco Central de la República Argentina, Dr. Martín Redrado (ver Circular               109/2009         109/2009), el presidente de la Confederación Argentina de la Mediana Empresa, Osvaldo Cornide, le solicito al BCRA “la incorporación de las chequeras denunciadas, sea por robo o extravío, en la base de cheques rechazados de esa institución bancaria”.El pasado viernes 14 de agosto se conoció la Comunicación A-4971 que introdujo modificaciones en la reglamentación de la Cuenta Corriente Bancaria que, básicamente, son las siguientes:

a) Se reglamenta el “endoso en procuración” establecido en la ley de Cheques. De esta manera, cuando el cheque a ser depositado sea, por ejemplo, por gestión de cobro, deberá identificarse dicha situación en el reverso del cheque, así como deberá quedar asentado en la cuenta depositada. Esto facilitará el conocimiento, por parte de la entidad financiera, de la actividad que realiza su cliente reforzando la política de “conozca a su cliente”.

b) Se incorpora la “Central de cheques denunciados como extraviados, sustraídos o adulterados”. De esta manera, el receptor de un cheque podrá verificar (ya sea ingresando al sitio web del BCRA o bien a través de un credit buró) si existe alguna denuncia respecto del instrumento que está por recibir. Ello complementa la información hoy ya disponible en la central de cheques rechazados y de cuentacorrentistas inhabilitados.

c) Se restituye la exigencia de que figure, en el comprobante de depósito de cheques, la leyenda donde conste el plazo de acreditación de los mismos. Si bien hoy dicho plazo está uniformado para todas las localidades del país (48 horas de acreditación de los fondos desde la fecha de su depósito), la transparencia en dicha información ayuda al cliente a una mejor planificación financiera (de hecho, la mayoría de los bancos hoy lo informa, pese a que no está requerido normativamente).

d) Se incluye en el cuerpo del cheque la antigüedad de la cuenta corriente. Esto permite al receptor del cheque mejorar su evaluación de la calidad crediticia del titular de la cuenta girada.

Los aspectos operativos que las entidades financieras deben readecuar a partir de estas modificaciones entrarán en vigencia a partir del 1/11/09.

Tal como puede observarse, el punto “b” constituye la puesta en vigencia de lo solicitado por la CAME.
