First thing i decided to download was Instagram, seemed like my kind of thing as my friends say i’m completely obsessed with taking pictures of anything and everything. I choose to ignore their whines as in the future they will thank me… wayy wayyyyyy into the future maybe…. But anyway, Instagram. I’m addicted. I’ve followed everyone and stalked so many pictures and enjoyed everyone else’s pages while i myself only have 2 pictures and about 5 followers, yayyy, i’m so popular. 

Next thing was Fruit Ninja, i paid like 0.89c for it because there’s no point in getting the free version, tip to any budding fruit ninjas out there. Was addicted for about an hour and then quickly got bored… I want my 0.89c back please.

CamWow, hours of endless fun for all the people (ahem… me) who love to pose and take absolutely ’beautiful’ pictures of themselves with their hair shoved into a messy ponytail, no make-up, wearing your dads big blue navy hoodie and a lovely big red nose from a flu you currently have. But seriously, you start taking the pictures and suddenly you can’t stop! Next thing you know you have 200 (blush, yes i know… i am rather fond of posing) selfies of you looking ‘stunning’. Its a bit of an embarrassing addiction to be honest.

Templerun 2….. Don’t download…. ever. There was no point in trying to live up to the first one. Well done templerun makers, you have successfully ruined my love of your game. Hope you’re happy.

Video Downloader… thought this was going to be amazing, couldn’t wait to save all these youtube videos to my ipod… It wasn’t class and i did not get to save youtube videos to my phone… that is all.

So yes! apologies to anyone who might possibly enjoy the apps that i do not, maybe they’re your thaaang. Advice from me? on a rainy day, grab the ipod and download some apps, suddenly your day is not so boring any-more. THANK-YOU APPLE!

Well its been a Whole year since i started the blog and i thought it would be a great time to post a nice post with some juicy info so lets begin.

The New iPhone

So to start we have some new pictures of what it may look like 

As you can see it may be an 4-Inch Display, probably 4.5 inches. The colour of the antenna isn’t the silver of the iPhone 4 and 4S. To me it looks like it is a shade of grey (no pun intended). It will possibly be a 19 pin connector, NOT an 8 pin connector since that would have a lack of functions unlike a 19 pin connector.

The headphone jack is at the bottom, probably because the iPods have them as well. It also has the same antenna bands as the iPhone 4S.

LTE/4G

After the new iPad’s launch brought 4G to an Apple device, it’s widely expected that 4G will come to the new iPhone. And with many 4G handsets already announced in the US, it can’t be long before the iPhone supports 4G technologies – even if we won’t even have a UK spectrum auction until late this year or maybe early next.

Because of the 4G Fuss over the New iPad in the UK, we’d expect this to be played down in any UK handset – or the UK might get a different version entirely of course.

NFC

There’s been some speculation that Apple might include NFC in the new iPhone, turning it into a kind of credit/debit card.

However, with the tech being inside the Google Nexus S and Samsung Galaxy Nexus, as well as a host of other top smartphones, the time for NFC may finally be here.

On 24 June 2011 it was reported that the Google Wallet mobile payment platform could feature on the new iPhone. Eric Schmidt admitted that Google is looking to port the software to other manufacturers.

The developer in question has not been named, but is working on a dedicated iOS app which includes NFC reading for mobile transactions. When questioned how confident he was on the information he had received his reply was “Enough to bet the app development on”.

On April 30 2012 an Apple patent reinforced the idea NFC in iPhone 5 – and leaked code from something purporting to be the new iPhone also Contains info in the new iPhone.

CAMERA

Sony makes the camera for the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S. Speaking at a liveWall Street Journal event, Sony’s Sir Howard Stringer was talking about the company’s camera image sensor facility in Sendai, a town that was recently ravaged by the recent Japanese earthquake and tsunami.

According to 9to5Mac, he said something along the lines of, “Our best sensor technology is built in one of the tsunami affected factories. Those go to Apple for their iPhones… or iPads. Isn’t that something? They buy our best sensors from us.”

Sources have also suggested the new iPhone could have an 8MP camera. Indeed,Sony announced in January 2012 that it had developed new back-illuminated stacked CMOS image sensors which are smaller in size. It’s also been reported that the new iPhone will have an HD front-facing camera as well.

An Interesting titbit via MirrorlessRumors is around a removable iPhone back panel that would include the camera lens has been spotted in a patent document. It seems to show that the device would work either by swapping the panel, or rotating the panel to change lenses. I doubt it though, but possibly.

iPhone Price

If the new iPhone is an evolutionary step like the move from the iPhone 4 to the iPhone 4S then we’d expect the price to stay more or less the same, although in the UK higher VAT rates may well mean a higher price tag.

It’s pretty much nailed on that the new iPhone will cost around £500 for a 16GB / 32GB model (depending on the capacity Apple whacks in there) and unless the iPhone 5 comes with some truly next generation technology that pricing model should hold firm.

CamWow is a free photobooth app that lets you take pictures using one of the 24 filters. The free version does leave you with a small watermark in the bottom corner. There are the usual filters: negative, mirrors, distorted (bug-eyed or pinched), colored, etc. There are also some creative filters that take your pictures in pencil or very pixelated. It’s all very good but there’s a major flaw. If you want to take a picture of something quickly, you’re not going to unlock your device, open this app, select a filter, then take the shot. More likely, you’ll just flick up the lock screen and snap a photo. In this sense it’s just not practical. It’d be awesome if you could put already taken photos through the filters, but you cannot. Of course if you aren’t in a rush to capture something, then CamWow is the way to go, 7/10.

Features both the fish and the stink eye

Starting this post off with the stinky fish eye. Soph loves this warpy setting on CamWow.

I checked around and there’s a lot of info about the stink eye out there. The fish eye, not so much. Any mentions of fish eyes are either about camera lenses…or fish – oh, and one other definition on Urban Dictionary that you can look up yourself.

And why doesn’t anyone refer to the Hairy Eyeball anymore?

I also found out that Koreans like to use what they refer to as the “stank eye.”

Then there’s also “the stink eye walk by”:

Another CamWow goodie I found on my iPod from Soph. I love the silhouettes cats make: their little ears, their whiskers and their furry little outlines.

Another thing I like about this picture is the plain outline of the cat (Marie) and the scrolls and curves of the bar stools in the background.

I guess I’d have to buy the full version app to be able to remove their logo. Oh well. It’s still a keeper.

And of course, the camera is an interesting little beast. On the one hand, I’ve never owned a phone that took photos like this.

I mean… seriously. That’s a heck of a photo for a PHONE. I know, I know, this is not news to the rest of the universe. And I’ve seen iPhone photos before. But they tend to be quirky and overly-filtered (we’re getting to that). I didn’t know I could capture this with it:

Is it crystal-clear? Well, no. But it is a really great shot… for a PHONE.

Anyway, then there’s those pesky filters, which I must admit I enjoy as much as the next person. They are fun, after all, to play with. Last night I downloaded four free phone apps, and played with them thusly:

They are: CamWow, Pixlromatic, Vintage Cam and PhotoToaster (for which I will admit I paid $.99, so it wasn’t free).

I had a great time with them. And I think the first one is hysterical. I also like myself in number 3, with the rainbow effect. The others don’t do all that much for me, but they’re more fun than if they didn’t exist, if you see my point.

Yes, I also have Instagram, which was used on the first two photos above of the trees and my son.

In short, I like my phone. The camera is a cool toy. Will it replace the Olympus EP-2? Uh, no. Because the EP-2 takes shots like this:

There is a difference. What it is, I’m not sure, but there’s a quality of light that only a “real” camera can capture.

So iPhone, I love you. Your camera is cool, and it takes great photos that I can post instantly to my blog(s), send to friends, or put on Facebook with the touch of a button. You’re amazing. But you’re still… a phone. At some point in the future, I can feel this post becoming obsolete, but we aren’t there yet.

I don’t think she reads my blog. Which is better.

This is a picture of my sister. She’s so pretty, no? Haha. She was playing with CamWow on my phone.

There’s a seven year gap between the two of us. Yet, she looks my age if not younger than me! It’s unfair, but I already accepted that fact since I was 13.

If I were to describe my sister, I’d say she’s a much better version of me. We’re pretty alike, but she’s nicer, more responsible, better with dealing with other people, and other better traits. She’s also more childlike! I remember when I was younger, I’d always say that she’s my idol and that I wanted to be Iike her when I grow up. Now I’m grown up, and totally a different person! Haha. We get along well though. I love her, she knows that.

When we were younger, people would always say that we’re like twins. Today, someone made that comment again. I don’t think so, though. I’m a mix of my dad’s facial structure and my mom’s eyes! She just looks like my dad’s mom. I guess we’re just both pretty!

That said, I consciously avoid these distractions. My television is in my closet, disconnected. I sold my comic book collection. My DS is in my car’s glove compartment for emergency long waits.

But despite these efforts that little anti-Muse in my head still manages to find fun, useless things to distract me. It always takes me a little while to adapt to and excise these new creative blemishes. This week, it’s CamWow!

For those unfamiliar, CamWow! is an app for iPhone that distorts and filters photos. Some are clearly for comedy, while others are filters that turn live photos into artful pictures. It was introduced to me by my cousin Brandon and his girlfriend Georgia, who warned me that it would become addictive.

And it has.

Here are some of the masterpieces I’ve created.

This is me. I think the filter makes me look all bad-ass. Lol. I think this is a new future Facebook profile picture. I love anything that takes real images and makes them look like something drawn, because I feel it teaches me how to draw. This is how I justify my laziness.

Before you do this YOU HAVE TO BE JAILBROKEN

Hey, today I’m going to talk about CamWow on the iPhone.

So when you first get Camwow on your iPhone and you take a picture with an effect you’ll notice there is a watermark saying Camwow at the bottom right.

So to remove that little watermark.

1. Open iFile
2. Find your application folder
3. Find the Camwow folder
4. Find the watermark plist and remove it.
5. Respring
6. Open Camwow take a photo and you’ll notice the water Mark is gone and boom you’ve avoided paying $2

Verdict: Highly recommend it

Likes: variety of effects, able to export to Facebook from within the app
