Minden, Ontario is is the newest home to a brand new Canadian Tire store.  The store is open today, Thursday, May 3rd in Minden and the official grand opening will be Thursday, May 10th!

The new store includes:

-      14,000 square feet of retail space with a wide array of products that cater to needs and preferences of the local community

-      9,500 square feet of covered shopping space to offer an expanded range of seasonal products from spring to fall

-       A large outdoor compound for additional seasonal products such as gardening

-      Three service bays in the Automotive Service Centre which features the latest in automotive diagnostic equipment

In addition to the Canadian Tire retail store, the development will include:

-      A Mark’s store with 4,200 square feet of retail space offering men’s and women’s casual, work and active-wear clothing and footwear

-      A Canadian Tire Gas Bar with six pumping positions and a convenience store

We went to The Works last night for supper. On the way there, we saw first hand that the Canadian Tire gas bar is now closed, tanks are being dug up, and the entire area (including the old used car lot) is now fenced off. I’m assuming that means Ashcroft got the go ahead to build. But we’ve heard nothing from our councillor, Christine Leadman. Like all politicians, it’s promises, promises, promises, but nothing has been posted on her site at all. There is nothing on the city’s site either. So how would you know what’s going there?
