You’re a hateful, socially-inept, charmless, morally spineless, cowardly, free-loading, Skeletor-fac

You’re a hateful, socially-inept, charmless, morally spineless, cowardly, free-loading, Skeletor-faced, spunk-brained, king-sized loser of a limp dick. You’re a cock, you’re a tosser, you’re fat-arsed chair glosser. You make me sick.

Admit it. Reading that paragraph made you reflect on what an atrocious cunt you are. Experiment in cold-reading over. It’s ok. I’m not singling you out. The rest of us are scum too: mankind is lots of tiny bits of scum floating towards other bigger clumps of scum to form a planet-sized ball of scum hurtling towards death, the biggest scum of them all, apart, perhaps, from life. One bloated rotten putrid scum together. Listen to Jeff Lewis’ East River song and this might somehow seem like a wonderful, magical thing. But it isn’t. It’s awful. And if you think differently you’re deceiving yourself like the self-deluding skin-sack of rotting scum that you are.

I’m especially scummy. I know this because I’m the target of a campaign of vicious bile-bombings by Charlie Brooker. Brooker has made my scummyness absolutely clear. The other day he verbally and physically assaulted me. Last night, he repeatedly kicked me in the face – I bled profusely, turning a snow-white pavement from the old Trebor Mr Soft adverts into the river of blood from the Shining. He didn’t say anything, mind – just raised an eyebrow, shook his head and walked off.

I’ve never spoken to Charlie Brooker. I don’t know him. Like every other respiring liberal, I love his column and Screenwipe and even the show he did on Channel 4 when it didn’t have Frankie Boyle and Josie Long on it making me want to fry slices of my own left-hemisphere, like a lonesome Hannibal Lecter, with the hope of making speech recognition an impossibility. But that’s as far as it goes.

See: Charlie Brooker is the Freddy Krueger of vicious satire. He’s terrorising my dreams. I’m not sure how he does it or why, but it appears he won’t stop until he’s successfully pummelled my self-esteem into submission.

So ok, it’s my sub-conscious doing a poor imitation of Brooker through a limited lens of uncreative swearing, with an eccentric bad vigilantism borrowed from The Punisher. But I’m convinced he’s got something to do with it. I walked past him in Clapham the other day, holding hands with a woman who looked like/was Konnie Huq, off of the new Aids adverts. It might not have been her, but the two are permanently associated in my mind after he made her do this. Whatever, she looked slightly ashamed. To be fair, we were gawping at them like drooling newborn infants unable to control our eye movements. But then CB looks like a grumpy Mount Rushmore president coming at you in real life: his head is all massive and granitey. With the added Huq-factor, there was plenty to involuntarily gawp at.

Mainly though, we were gawping cos we’d successfully, though accidentally, summoned Brooker like an evil comedy genie. Moments before he appeared, conversation had randomly turned to a loud discussion of his TV output. Coincidence? I’m pretty sure I said his name at least 3 times: anyone familiar with the Candyman films will know this is enough to invoke an evil spirit. Upon revealing himself, Brooker looked a bit angry (presumably because we’d rudely extracted him from the dark netherworld in which he usually dwells). I suspect it was at this point he used his nefarious powers to enter my subconscious, where he’s been stalking me ever since.

So: does anyone know how to stop a bilious dream satirist? Burying him in ground consecrated by Holy Water would seem like the obvious way to go, but I’m happy to consider other suggestions.

In honor of the day I figured I’d offer my take on the movies that scare me the most. Most of

In honor of the day I figured I’d offer my take on the movies that scare me the most. Most of these have terrified me so much that I refuse to watch them. I’m not much for scary movies. I just don’t like that feeling of having to be afraid of something. Life is scary enough. I have also included an honorable mention that doesn’t fall into the genre of a scary Halloween movie but it still scared the willies out of me.

Honorable Mention
Sleeping with the Enemy
The classic Julia Roberts tale of boy meets girl, boy beats girl, girl escapes…maybe. The monster in this movie knows everything. I mean everything. His wife cuts her hair to escape his abuse and control and flushes it down the toilet and HE STILL FINDS IT. Just when she thinks she’s safe she notices the towels in her new kitchen are organized just like he liked them, and she didn’t do it….

5. Arachnophobia
I have always been terrified of spiders. And seeing this movie as a child didn’t make things any better. To this day if I try to rewatch it, I don’t get far and I just give up. Although, John Goodman’s character is always a good draw to sit through it anyway.
A rare South American spider hitches a ride in a coffin and infects an entire town. The only problem is that this spider seems to hunt humans and its bite kills you instantly. Even the spider expert isn’t safe.

4. The Shining
This is one of those movies that scared me the first time I watched it, but I can still watch it over and over. It’s just so ingenious. I’ve got to visit the Stanley Hotel (Stephen King’s inspiration for the book).
A dysfunctional family moves to a mountain hotel to watch over it for the winter season and finds out they’re not the only ones there. The classic moment is when Shelley Duvall, in a fit of fear, finds a man and a person dressed as some kind of animal in one of the hotel rooms.

3. The Wicker Man
This isn’t the Nicholas Cage version, let’s just get that out of the way. After watching this movie late one night on a whim, the only thing I could think at the end of it was “that was messed up.”
A police officer visits an island after receiving a letter asking for help in finding a missing girl. As soon as he steps off his floating plane he realizes this is no normal island. And the people are definitely hiding something. Needless to say he doesn’t discover what this is until the end.

2. Candyman
This movie kept me from being able to really look in a mirror for two weeks. And if I think about the scene in the public bathroom for too long I can’t sleep.
You’ll have to watch the movie to find out the story, I’m too traumatized by it. Moving On.

1. Funny Games
I had no idea what I was in for when I sat down to watch this movie. It’s just realistic enough to happen and it’ll sure make you think twice about opening your door.
From the very first time that blaring music turns on, you know you’re in for a horrifying and nightmare-inducing time. Anyway, meet your movie monsters: two greasy boys who wear white gloves constantly. Trust me, that’s terrifying enough. A family arrives at their vacation home to see their neighbors standing with these boys, who eventually come calling for eggs. What starts next is a huge, horrifying ball rolling down a hill that no one is going to be able to stop.

Note finale: 8.5/10

————-

Meilleure ctiation: “You solved the box, we came. Now you must come with us, taste our pleasures.”

Hey there!

What’s up? hehe OMG this is my favorite holiday ever! HALLOWEEN!! I don’t know what’s wrong with me. I get so excited whenever Halloween comes every year. Is it because I’m a horror movie fanatic? is it because I love seeing blood drips on the fresh flesh of human beings.. is it because it’s the day of the dead and weary souls?? hehe! It’s simply because Halloween is a holiday where we remembers those loved ones who just passed away and also because this day is the day of those movie killers that we love. They should have our respect because they are the ones who brings Halloween back to life and death hehe..

When Halloween comes.. those movie monsters will always be remembered! Namely considering that it’s Halloween.. Michael Myers is the first in the list. Followed by Jayson Vorhees, Freddy Krueger, Charles Lee Ray (Chucky), Pinhead, Leatherface, It, Ghostface, Candyman, Hollowman, Poltergeist, The Omen, and the latest.. Esther Klammer (The Orphan).. that’s all I remember I guess.. hehe.. the rest of the movie monsters sucks big time! like Sadako.. haha.. I think this special day should be given to them as a respect by having a good’ol classic movie marathon! and I’m starting with Halloween! Oh by the way, I wasn’t able to watch the latest franchise of the sequel to Halloween by Rob Zombie because I got stucked up at Glorietta for my voter’s id registration.. (Ugh! it was really frustrating) This special day made my spirit up and make my pain go away! lols! I guess i was the only one in my family who signifies the importance of Halloween especially in the movie genre, and the only one in my college class who loves Halloween and scary movies so bad.. lols! I guess I was born to be a killer.. and this is the early symptoms hehe just kidding! It’s because my Daddy let me watch Child’s Play when I was 5 yrs old. That mistake made me so crazy about horror films.. and one day.. I’ll be a writer and director and I will make a hell of a movie that can scare for all time!I don’t know why some people don’t like horror stuffs.. maybe they can’t face the fact that there are some things in this world that are meant to scare them. They just can’t take a little scream because they are so coward! hehe just kidding! don’t get offended if you’re one of those scardy cats who face away when the movie starts..

In other news.. Candice Michelle is expected to give her big news this upcoming Nov.1. Evryone is expecting that it is wrestling related because everyone wants to see her again in a wrestling attire… in TNA! hehe.. I’m one of them.. *sometimes I get my hopes up*..

Hmm .. so it’s been a very exciting night because we all got the spooks out of each other.. Till next time … It’s movie marathon time! lols!

BTW, who wants to come with me tomorrow at Sm Manila to watch Halloween 2??? and it’s not my treat! amp! hehe.. Pls come with me.. I’m not scared.. I just want someone to talk to whenever I wanted to praise the film..

Goodnyt for those who don’t know that it’s Halloween.. and hello for those people like me who got KILLER written all over their face! hehe..

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!

Next Horror film in line is Candyman. While researching urban myths, grad student Helen Lyle (Virgin

Next Horror film in line is Candyman.

While researching urban myths, grad student Helen Lyle (Virginia Madsen) learns about the Candyman (Tony Todd), a hook-handed creature who’s said to haunt a Chicago housing project. In this creepy film based on a Clive Barker story, the Candyman is made flesh by other people’s belief in him. Not surprisingly, Lyle manages to summon him. Soon, the Candyman has committed a series of murders, and the cops are holding Lyle responsible.

Candy man at points can be seen as your typical thriller with horror elements, but is also part slasher.

I was really surprised by how this film really does turn out to be effective, because it actually does ground itself so realistically, in a city where they do not believe in urban legends, until the very end of the movie.

However, I felt that this film really does suffer from a script and story that starts to drag on a little. I thought that some of the lines were pretty cheesy compared to others, and weren’t as witty as you would expect coming from a movie of this nature.

I also did not find this movie as terrifying as I thought it would have. Tony Todd really does look like an old 1970 pimp with the bad jacket and the killer claw. Didn’t really find his character that all too scary, but I liked how they set him up to be like a normal person, although we never really get where this guy comes from and why he seems to spark so much havoc, one time after another.

I also think that the story really would have worked well if it didn’t succumb to the over-use of the blood and gore scenes. The film features many little flashbacks of previous murders from The Candyman, and are so disgusting and down right grotesque, that I was a little confused if I was watching a remake of Friday the 13th.

Virginia Madsen actually does take this film by storm and give it her all. She isn’t your typical female horror leading woman who fights the odds. She seems real, with real problems, and most of all with a real purpose, and that purpose is to finally track down The Candyman. Tony Todd, also gives a good performance here as The Canydman, but isn’t seen very much to come off as really scary or frightful. It’s just the look, that looks like an outtake from Shaft.

Consensus: Candyman is smarter than your typical slasher-horror film, but with some added elements that weren’t needed and a not so frightening antagonist, Candyman falls short of horror film greatness.

7/10=Rentall!!

Note finale: 9/10

——-

Meilleure citation: “They will say that I have shed innocent blood. What’s blood for, if not for shedding?”

Here we are at the halfway point of my tour through my horror DVD collection, and we get to one of m

Here we are at the halfway point of my tour through my horror DVD collection, and we get to one of my top 10 horror films: Candyman. Clive Barker’s urban hellstorm was brought to life in 1992 by director Bernard Rose, who saw the bleak despair of the story and saw how to use Chicago as a key character.

The movie’s plot is fairly straightforward. Virginia Madsen plays Helen, a graduate student working on a study of urban legends. She learns that the residents of a low-income housing project called Cabrini Green believe in a mythical figure called Candyman: Say his name five times while looking in a mirror, and he will appear to you. Candyman is said to haunt the projects, killing at random, stealing babies, striking fear.

Helen doesn’t believe, but a series of brutal events and the sudden destruction of her way of life change her outlook. And then Candyman himself appears, and Tony Todd brings to the screen a perfect example of how evil can wear a cloak of charisma. “I am the writing on the wall, the whisper in the classroom …”

Rose, as I said, uses Chicago brilliantly, shooting in a clean, cold winter light. The city’s desperate projects, upscale condos and trendy bistros become as crucial to the story as the characters. A hidden chamber in Cabrini Green is presented in all its squalid, horrible darkness, and helps Helen understand a link between key buildings in the movie, a link that sees the movie’s plot take a hard swerve into what-the-hell-is-going-to-happen-next territory.

I loved Candyman from Day 1, precisely because of that quality. It was, and is, like nothing else, and there was no way to predict what would happen next. It still takes me by surprise when I watch it every couple of years. It’s the kind of horror movie that transcends its genre and becomes a classic film, bloody hook and all.

There are sequels. I recommend you avoid those.

Candyman is a 1992 neo-noir/slasher film starring Virginia Madsen, Tony Todd and Xander Berkeley. It was directed by Bernard Rose and is based on the short story “The Forbidden” by Clive Barker, though the film’s scenario is switched from England to the United States (specifically Chicago). The film was scored by Philip Glass. The film was met with critical acclaim and was a box office success. Candyman is the first film in a trilogy which includes Candyman 2: Farewell to the Flesh and Candyman 3: Day of the Dead.

Trivia:

There is a Guy Fawkes mask hanging next to Helen’s bathroom mirror. Fawkes is an infamous figure in English history (an influence from Clive Barker’s original story perhaps), who attempted to blow up the English Parliament on November 5, 1605. Every year the British celebrate Guy Fawkes Day by lighting bonfires and burning Fawkes in effigy.

Virginia Madsen claims that she was hypnotized for some of the film’s scenes.

“Sweets to the Sweet” which is written on the walls in two areas of Cabrini Green is actually a line from Shakespeare’s Hamlet.

Virginia Madsen is allergic to bees, so an ambulance was always on set while filming the bee sequence.

Real bees were actually put into Tony Todd’s mouth while they where shooting the climax. His only protection was a mouth guard that kept him from having the bees go down his throat.

The bees were breed specifically for this movie. They need to make sure that the bees were only 12 hours old so that they looked like mature bees, but at that point, the stinger isn’t powerful enough to do any real damage.

The architecture flaw of the medicine chests and people being able to sneak in, is something that Bernard Rose discovered in his research for the film and there was actually a series of murders that were committed this way.

On the DVD commentary, Alan Poul said that had Virginia Madsen been unavailable, the part of Helen would have most likely gone to the then unknown Sandra Bullock.

Exterior, hallway and stairway scenes were actually filmed for a few days in the infamous Cabrini-Green housing projects, though the producers had to make a deal with the ruling gang members to put them in the movie as extras to ensure the cast and crew’s safety during filming. Even with this arrangement, a sniper put a bullet through the production van on the last day of filming, though no one was injured.

Philip Glass was asked by director Bernard Rose to compose a score for his film “Candyman”. Glass accepted and wrote a “gothic” score for chorus and pipe organ. The final version of the film was a disappointment to Glass. He felt that he had been manipulated. What was presented to him as a low budget independent project with creative integrity became (in his opinion) a low budget Hollywood slasher flick. As a result, Glass with held his consent for the release of the recordings of the score for years, until 2001.

5. THE ALIEN – Alien From the moment this Alien is conceived by means of an alien face-plant

5. THE ALIEN – Alien

From the moment this Alien is conceived by means of an alien face-plant and after its chest popping birth in Ripley Scott’s Sci-fi horror masterpiece, The Alien in the movie Alien, has become one of the most recognizable horror monsters of all time. From its stealth movements, long curving head and saliva pouring mouth, this monster has made movie-goers cringe for decades. I place The Alien at number 5 because no other sci-fi horror monster comes close to magnitude and terror they have caused. The film sequels were highly successful and launched this unhuman being into classic status within the horror and sci-fi genres of film.

4. FREDDY KREUGER – Nightmare on Elm St.

Since, both Michael Myers and Leatherface are both human, you won’t see them on this list. But out of the two highly successful slasher-film monsters, Jason Voorhees and Freddy Kreuger, I had to choose the one that still makes me shutter with fear at his very sight. Nightmare on Elm St. gave us one of horrors most iconic figures in Freddy Kreuger. Born out of the mind of Wes Craven, who claims he was inspired to create Kreuger from an experience as a boy looking out his window and seeing a man in a stripped sweater and fedora peering through his garbage that gave him nightmares, Kreuger has given plenty of nightmares to movie-goers for years now. Which, when you think about it, having a nightmare about Kreuger (seeing that he kills people in their dreams) is a terrifying experience. Despite the more comedic turn he took over the years, no one can disregard this burnt, knife wheeling monster his iconic status.

3. ZOMBIES (Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, etc.)

Scene from Romero's 1978 Dawn of the Dead

28 Days Later and horror-comedies Shaun of the Dead and Zombieland, have put zombies back on the map. Personally, I don’t find zombies very frightening, but their cult-like status in the genre most be rewarded. The original zombie films by Romero will continue to be the scariest, but new filmmakers are finding more and more ways to revive this cult icon.

2. FRANKESTEIN’S MONSTER (KARLOFF)/DRACULA (LUGOSI)

We can argue that all the Universal Monsters from the 1930’s and 1940’s should be on this list, but Boris Karloff’s Frankenstein’s Monster and Bela Lugosi’s Dracula, are two of the most recognizable movie monsters of all time. Both of these monsters terrified audiences in 1931, giving birth to the main stream era of horror films. Lugosi’s powerful stare and Karloff’s incredible make-up made them instant symbols of horror movies. Their success gave birth to Universal Studios’ other monsters, like Lon Chaney Jr.’s Wolf Man and Karloff’s return to screen as the Mummy. An adaptation of H.G. Well’s “The Invisible Man” continued Universal’s rise. But both Karloff and Lugosi will forever remain the symbols of these iconic literary figures. The success of The Bride of Frankenstein only made Karloff and the Universal Monsters even more successful.

Today neither of these monsters seem all that scary. But taken in the context of the times they were released, these two monsters were at the top of the world – scaring audiences everywhere. They may not be accurate adaptations of Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein” of Bram Stoker’s “Dracula” but they have now become our first image of these fabled creatures.

1 BRUCE THE SHARK – JAWS

No other monster has continued to terrify us more than Bruce (bet you didn’t know that is what he was called on set). Spielberg’s Jaws, an adaptation of Peter Benchley’s novel of the same title, became a world-wide phenomenon in the summer of 1975. Although the movie is anything but the traditional dark, ominous horror films that are a staple of the genre, this bright, sunny classic made more people scream than ever before.

Till this day, people who see this film are afraid of going into the ocean. Admit it, that even today when you are wading through the murky shores of the Jersey shore or Martha’s Vineyard or wherever you may be, that you think about Bruce pulling you under and tearing you limb from limb. Let’s face it, shark attacks are real, despite the fact that something the size of Bruce with the mindset of solely eating humans probably doesn’t exist, a shark bite can still happen – and still do.

No matter what genre you put Jaws in, it is still one of my all-time favorite films. Spielberg’s ability to create a peachy, warm and sunny beach town with a horrifying monster lurking in it is a pure cinematic masterpiece. Over 30 years later no other shark movie has had the impact that Jaws has had. The other monsters on our list may scare us and may be unforgettable, but none of them can continue to scare movie-goers like the 25-foot great white shark named Bruce.

Honorable Mentions: Pinhead, The Candyman, Chucky, and Pennywise the Clown.

If you object to any of my picks please let me know. I love getting feedback as everyone will have a different interpretation of the best horror monsters. If you have your own lists of the 5 Greatest Horror Monsters please feel free to post them in your comment.

Thanks!

Yes. The polar opposites. Mint is Chocolate’s younger brother. Peppermint is their cousin. As of right now, mint is a b-movie actor/playboy who hangs around chocolate’s house all day, and chases after Meron Pan who he should realize, is boy(Despite that adorable face.) I really like Mint. My friend once said he reminded her of Tamaki Suoh from Host club, which is weird, because I didn’t even see that show until after completing the original manga.

Peppermint Cane. A.K.A pepper-chan. I don’t want play favorites, but pepper is one of my favorite characters. He’s the youngest in the bar family, but he’s also the most ruthless, evil, little thing to come of their family tree. You’ll find out who his parents are later on. Pepper was raised by Chocolate, and lives in downtown brooklyn with his maids, Blueberry and Rasberry. Even though he has his own candycane company to run, he also can be found at the Bar estate, eating chocolate’s cake and selling Mint’s posessions to fans on the internet.

I’m not really sure which Seiyuu I would want for either these two, but Mint and Chocolate should sound similar.

A Chris Watson flick
Starring: Margaret O’Brien,Joe Estevez,Richard Norton,Dennis Hayden and Tony Todd.
A unique look at the love yearnings of a ghost,Actually that’s not fair this is a journey for a lost soul to complete the uncompleted yearning of life.
OK,Hated the beginning…Too slow and talking heads to set-up the premise.
Then,We are pulled into this fun exploration of lost love,What could have been and WHAT just might be !
The three male leads are great- Gerard,Eric and Don,They make quite a team as ensemble performers.
The guest stars are sprinkled thru-out and actually have stuff to do,Margaret is really acting her heart out and Richard Norton reallys adds so much to Eric Edwards performance from their meeting on.
OK,Its quirky and romantic and odd,Well there are ghosts that seem helpless in our mundane world.
This arthouse film is so different from the roots that spawned it,We wish it the widest audience imagined .

As the girls slow down their song to switch over to Candyman, they rock out to the remixes of Abracadabra for the finish.

Though the remix of the track is just has more bass to dance to, the girls actually look a lot happier bouncing around stage then before. Miryo, for instance, is literally bouncing with the other dancers as the girls happily strut their swagger all over the stage.

BEG also performed their infamous dance at the Daegu Mirae College Job Festival along with fellow Kpop acts such as Girl’s Generation. Both girl groups were overwhelming received well as fans shouted out their usual chants.

So what’s next for BEG? Anything is possible.
