Here is another older outfit that I have changed a few things up and made it new again. This particular outfit has gone through a lot of transformations, but the first time I documented it was last year and beings I love it soo much I wanted to make it new again.
The tutu is one of the very first i bought in SL and I love it so! There were so many colors to choose, but i got purple, my favorite color. It’s paired with a shirt I wore with MANY outfits a year ago because it’s so awesome. So, Christmas is coming, its end of the month soon which means tier time *sighs* and money really is, too tight to mention – so what do you do ? Recycle – it is one of my favourite things to do with my inventory, turning old into new and bringing things bang up to date with your own lil’ twist – and this is exactly what i have done here. The skirt, was actually one of the first items i bought with linden dollars in SL way back in 2007 from Canimal! I’ve mixed it up with some not so older items and a few newer pieces to make it work well. The texture still rocks with this skirt after all this time, as does the sweet cutesy flexi movement of the skirt and petticoats.

Forgive me father for I have sinned. I haven’t blogged properly in over a few days because of something called laziness. It’s crept over inside of me and I don’t know how to get rid of it. Luckily, Shane has been there to pick up the slack and post some awesome things. I love when she posts and therefore I think I’m going to be lazy more. There’s a new skin maker (known to me) in town and her name is Pearl Vollmar. These new Claudia skins are really photorealistic and they come with two shades of lipstick, one natural and one either pink or red, depending on the color of the eyeshadow. They also come with a complimentary pair of eyelashes as well as three different eyebrow shapes. There are so many options that comes with the skins that I didn’t want to overwhelm you so I’m showing just a few of what I like.

The downfall of photorealistic skins to me is that they’re kind of eerie real and it’s like I’m looking at a real live human trapped in a virtual game. Which doesn’t necessarily mean a bad thing. If photo realism skins are your thing then you should definitely check out her store and make a decision for yourself with demos.

This was a bit of a hard post to do. I had the idea to do this a few weeks ago and just had the time this weekend to put it together. I grabbed my girl Nic and asked if she wanted to do this with me and she jumped on board right away.  The challenge was to do looks using only THE QUAD items.  We’ve both been on SL a long time and agree, THE QUAD was our first loves when it came to shopping district. For most of 2007 I lived for all their new releases. Last Call for most of my clothes, Celestial Studios for my skin addiction, ETD for all my hairs and Canimal for anything and everything funky.

The main reason i wanted to do this post was because of Ginny Talamasca. I didn’t know who Ginny was until the winter of 06 (wow was it that long ago?) when SL used to have it’s “most popular place” ranking on its search function. I remember seeing Dazzle at the top for weeks and always wondered what the hell it was. Finally i TP’d in and fell utterly in love… completely and utterly heads over heels in love with every single stitch of clothing i saw! I think i bought almost every single item during that 100Ls sale. It was through that winter sale at Dazzle, i happened to wonder over to Celestial Studios and bought my very first skin! When Dazzle officially closed and reborn as Last Call, I can honestly call it and Ginny.. my CRACK! I was feening for every single new release, every color, every fat pack, every project she did with other members of the QUAD.

My honest love for Last Call still holds strong today, i still wear her fashion, though im reluctant to blog something you can no longer buy. Til’ this day, i don’t know if any other store had captured me to the magnitude Last Call had. When i say it’s my CRACK.. i absolutely meant it! I know my feelings were echoed in Nicole, we had this long talk about it all. Sharing stories of how we’d try endlessly to get into the Quad when there was a huge sale going on, squealing about some of our favorite outfits from 2 years ago!

I remember how utterly shocked i was when i learned of Ginny’s passing. I remember reading the blog post from Starley and damn near crying. It was strange to me, how could i cry over a virtual stranger.. someone i’ve never actually knew or had a conversation with and the only thing i knew of her.. was her clothing. But it was enough, you get a sense of who she is through her clothing. Anyhoo.. this post has gotten way too long and its much overdue! But I had to send it out there… to the universe.. to the grid.. to the web.. i just had to send it out there.
We miss you Ginny.

Summer has officially ended for me — I hauled out the down comforter my bed and all. But luckily, SL knows no seasons, so we can wear cute numbers like this.

Sugar Daddy’s family came to visit from the US for a month and we had a wonderful time showing them all that Britain has to offer. Unfortunately, I didn’t have time for blogging or any SL playtime for that matter so Dolly didn’t join me on our adventures. However, if had she been with me, I know she would have worn the outfits I’m going to showcase in my series of next 3 posts. Today, I will be your guide to Edinburgh; so please “Suivez-moi!”.

Edinburgh is a fantastic city charmed with character, whiffing of whiskey, and tarted up with tartan! Scotland is renowned for wet weather and it’s no exaggeration when I say that I’ve never seen such heavy downpours as we experienced during our visit. However, it all seemed to add to the novelty value for our visitors and Edinburgh proved to be their most favourite of all the places we visited in Britain.

Dolly’s top 5 suggestions for  things to do in Edinburgh:

1. Eat Haggis, Neeps and Tatties with Whiskey Cream Sauce at The Last Drop Tavern in Edinburgh’s historical Grassmarket.

2. Take a tour around The Real Mary King’s Close, a forgotten street from the 17th Century recently discovered buried beneath the Royal Mile.

3. Walk the Royal Mile from Edinburgh Castle to Holyrood Palace and the controversially design Scottish Parliament Building.

4. See the Scottish Crown Jewels and St Margaret’s Chapel (built in 1130 and Edinburgh’s oldest building) at the City’s most famous tourist attraction, Edinburgh Castle.

5. Shop ’til you drop in Edinburgh’s busiest shopping district, Princes Street.

Now, for a bit about the clothes (wink). I love scripted items and lately designers seem to be offering us more of them and with multi-component scripting giving more flexibility to co-ordinate and create new looks. A number of the items included in this post fall into the latter category including the Cherry Hannah Vintage Messenger Bag which comes with 6 fabric options, 2 leather options, and multiple buttons to play with. Also featured are the Periquita Mary Square Shoes which have 18 shoe and 9 button colours to choose from. Periquita shoes are unmistakeably gorgeous with their quirky shapes and now all of them come with scripted colour options too… happy days!

You can absolutely wear shorts in fall, if you pair them with a sexy long-sleeve top and stockings, I say. The majority of this outfit is part of one from Dutch Touch, which I changed up a little bit with a pair of denim shorts, also from Dutch Touch. A simple outfit, but quite a sexy one.

The skin comes from the “Essence” set available at Canimal [SLurl: Canimal]. I’ve worn other make-ups from this skin set a few times on this blog, yet this particular one is “Essence of Supernova” in the Charm skin tone. The “Supernova” make-up is part of an addition to the regular “Essence” line; there are six of these available at $L800/each or $L2,000 for all three in a set. Regular “Essence” skins cost $L800/each, and can be purchased per column ($L2,000 for 3 skins) or by choosing the “Buy these 15 makeups” vendor at a cost of $L8,000.

The hair is “Cassandra” (worn in Black) is one of two preview releases by Elle F [SLurl: Hairspray], an upcoming hair line by Launa Fauna. $L145 gets you the hair in 12 standard colors and a notecard promising a full release line in the future to include 1) Fuller hair color range and 2) Scripted dye menu. The other preview hair is a ultra-chic bob called “Jude”.

Most of this outfit is pieces and parts of the “Crop Woolen Jacket Outfit” in Black, which you can get at Dutch Touch [SLurl: Dutch Touch] for $L395, except for the shorts which are from the “Sep” set of denim shorts. The “(Sep) HotPants Denim” in Black are $L95. Also available are Brown and regular Denim.

Naturally, I just knew my favorite boots would go perfectly with this. I paired by beloved “Traveller Boots” – in Black Leather – by Lassitude & Ennui [SLurl: Nouveau] with the DT outfit & shorts for a perfect, sexy look. As mentioned in the Poison post, these boots – available in Black and Brown Leather – also have a matching knapsack, the “Traveller Bag”, which comes with three standing animations accessible via a quick click-touch. The boots sell for $L330/pair, and the bags can be purchased for $L300/each.

The earrings I picked up at a jewelry expo awhile back, along with matching choker, bracelet, and armband (not worn). The set is called “Code”, and these are the “Code Earrings” from that set; all by Shiny Things [SLurl: Shiny Falls]. The earrings are $L100. You can also get the other “Code” pieces: choker, bracelet, and armlet for $L150 each.

Now, for a bit about the clothes . I love scripted items and lately designers seem to be offering us more of them and with multi-component scripting giving more flexibility to co-ordinate and create new looks. A number of the items included in this post fall into the latter category including the Cherry Hannah Vintage Messenger Bag which comes with 6 fabric options, 2 leather options, and multiple buttons to play with. Also featured are the Periquita Mary Square Shoes which have 18 shoe and 9 button colours to choose from. Periquita shoes are unmistakeably gorgeous with their quirky shapes and now all of them come with scripted colour options too… happy days!

Grungy, badass looks like this I call “Post-Apocalyptic”, because it’s how I like to imagine I’d look as a rebel fighter after the world has been utterly destroyed (have I mentioned I have quite an imagination – but what SLer doesn’t?). It would also be a suitable look for hunting zombies, no? All’s well, as long as you aim for the head! Good thing I’m a damn good shot; these babies aren’t just for looks. My girls – twin Uzis named Thelma & Louise – are deadly killers (if you’re on the wrong side, a zombie, or make fun of my ocd-like fear of stickers that is).

Now that we’ve had some fun, let’s get down to the fashion (or lack thereof, if you want to be blunt about it). I adore this look, truth be told, and have a predilection for finding post-apoc-inspired sims to slink around in and take shots posing with my guns (hey, even the end of the world can’t stop an avatar’s vanity). If you know of some good ones, please leave the names and/or SLurls in the comments section. Thanks in advance.

Oddly, I have been able to do a number of posts without anything from Curious Kitties [SLurl: Curious Kitties] adorning my body. Amazingly, I was able to construct whole outfits without resorting to my oft-visited and very beloved CK folders. Alas, that would not last for long, and I am back wearing the “Aru” hair from CK in Blackish. Individual hairs in the “Aru” pantheon cost $L100-$L150 apiece. Available packs include the Color Pack (10 colors) for $L1,400 or the Standard Color Pack (10 colors) for $L900. CK hairs are always great for a more eclectic look; they go really well with outfits that are goth, neko, robotic, glam, punk, etc.

The skin comes from the newly-remodeled and back-in-business Frick [SLurl: Sugar Mill Grove]. This one is in the skin tone Tan (also available are Goth, Peach, and Chocolate) and is the makeup Noir Smudged. You can purchase any of the skin tones in the regular Noir set or Noir Smudged; each set costs only $L65 each and contains 4 different skins/makeups.

Both the jacket and top come from Canimal [SLurl: Canimal], but are part of different outfits. The jacket – “Ripped Jacket” from the Streetwear 2 set – comes in a pack of 6 (colors Red, Black, Blue, Green, Purple, and Brown) with two sleeve variations (Long and Short). The whole set (jackets aren’t sold individually) will only set you back $L265; not a bad deal for a ripped, grungy jacket that can be paired with various types of outfits.

The top itself comes from a full outfit, a dress, called the “Castaway Dress”. There are 3 available – Blue, Brown (worn), and White – and each costs $L200; no fatpack is available for these dresses.

The pants are simply called “Cords” and come in a variety of colors and fabrics at Celestial Studios [SLurl: Celestial City]. They sell for only $L100 apiece; I own all of them and they’re very versatile as you can always find at least one pair to go with whatever else it is you’re wearing. Here, I am wearing the Black “Cords”.

These boots come in as a second fave to the “Traveller Boots” I was wearing on yesterday’s outfit, Poison. I don’t know if anything will ever replace L&E’s “Traveller Boots” and “Traveller Bag” in my heart as favorite accessories, truth be told. Still, I cannot deny that I love my “Desert Boots”. Another amazing design by the shoe-mavens at Maitreya [SLurl: Maitreya Isle]. These boots can be worn laced or unlaced and even have a few sock prim attachments as well. You can buy them individually (or as a pair, I should say) for $L400 or just grab the fatpack (as I did, of course!) for $L1,500.

The dog tags, called “Funky Cross Dog Tags” are still a bit of a mystery. As I noted in the Army Cute post, I tried to contact the creator and former owner of AJ Jewells Jewelry, but never heard anything back. For now, I will have to conclude that these tags are no longer available.

I was just wondering whether I should feature this outfit, which I’d thrown together earlier to go sim-hopping with my friend, Belmont Roux, on the blog when I got a sudden package from my best pal and favorite jewelry designer, Rosie Barthelmess of Sable Rose Jewelry. Have you checked out her pieces yet? If not, I must implore you to give them a look. I am not hawing Rosie’s work because she is my friend, but because it really is great, quality work that features distinctive designs you will not find elsewhere. Rosie’s jewelry is high-quality, unique, and finely crafted down to the tiniest detail; she spends oodles of time on every piece and each is beautifully peerless. You can find Rosie’s wares at her shops at Filataponic, Sn@tch City, and Gallinas, or on Xstreet if are not able to pop in-world at the moment.

The package contained the hauntingly beautiful “Poisoner’s Wife” amulet necklace that you see me wearing here and that I immediately added it to my outfit, adding a little goth to my grunge.

The hair, the cap a part of it, hails from Dutch Touch [SLurl: Dutch Touch] and is called “Sculpted WoolenBeanie Eefje”; I am wearing it in Black.  The hairs are $L125/apiece and come in the colors Black (worn), Red/Pink, Red/BlackTips, Purple/BlackTips, Black/Purple, Red/Black, Copper/Purple, Pink/Black, Copper/Black, Blond, CopperBlond, Blond/Black, and Ultra Blond.

The “Essence” skin is my favorite from Canimal [SLurl: Canimal]. This particular skin is “Essence of Rain”. Essence skins will run you $L800/each, and can be purchased per column ($L2,000 for 3 skins) or by choosing the “Buy these 15 makeups” vendor at a cost of $L8,000. An addition to the Essence skin line are six exotic and dramatic make-ups. These also sell for $L800 apiece and $L2,000 per column (3 skins).

I went with a different set of eyes for a change. Still using the gorgeous Poetic Colors [SLurl: Strata] eyes, here I am wearing a set called “Fairy Dale” in Medium and Bright, instead of my usual “Deep Jungle”. All eye sets at Poetic Colors come with a pair of Large, Medium, and Small eyes and cost $L200/set. Fatpacks (i.e., an entire set of a particular type, like “Cat Eyes”), will run you $L1,250 (for eight different color sets) or $L2,500 (for sixteen different color sets); each set, as I mentioned, contains three size options.

My favorite set of eyelashes make another appearance with this outfit. The “2-Way Color Prim Lashes” from Katat0nik [SLurl: Axis Mundi] are all kinds of awesome. $L75 will get you clickable, menu-driven eyelashes that are highly customizable with density and many color choices.

The nails are actually part of the gloves I am wearing; which are, themselves, part of a top from Sn@tch [SLurl: Snatch City]. The top in question is actually a hoodie itself, the “B-Side Striped Hoodie” in Grey.  You can buy the pack of “B-Side Hoodies” for $L275, which includes 12 colors, sculpted hoods, and separate gloves for each hoodie.

The hoodie I am actually wearing is, instead, from Maitreya [SLurl: Maitreya Isle].  If you go to Maitreya for just the shoes, you’re missing out.  They have a wonderful, high-quality clothes line that is definitely worth a look.  Here I am wearing the “Jam Hoody” in Black.  The hoodie, which cost $L275/each, comes with prim attachments for the hood, which you can wear up or down; available colors are Green, Blue, Brown, Black (worn), and Red.  Also for sale nearby, at $L175/each, are hairs that are made to go with this hoodie; giving you a long-haired, wind-blown look with the hoodie up.  Each hoodie-hair, which matches the five hoodie colors, comes with dozens of hair-color choices so you should have no trouble finding one that will work for you.  You can get a view of the hoodie-hair in this photo, and this one, that I snapped at my old home on Rosadora back in August 2008.

I can never have enough jeans! If I see cool jeans in a store, I am likely to buy a pair in every style and color. The jean sets from Dutch Touch [SLurl: Dutch Touch] were no exception. Here I am wearing the “Jeans Ripped Col 2″. I really love the fit of Dutch Touch jeans; they are some of my current faves and I wear them all the time.

Hands down, these boots are an all-time fave. The “Traveller Boots” only come in Black (shown) and Brown, but I wear them every chance I get. They are a perfect cross between sturdy hiker boot and cute, tough-girl ankle boots (at least in my opinion). There is also a very neat handbag available, in both colors and called the “Traveller Bag”, that matches these boots; it comes with three standing animations that – via a quick touch – cause your avatar to stand holding the bag in various poses (fyi, it attaches to the spine so shouldn’t interfere with most jewelry & works well with most AO’s). And we come back to the hauntingly beautiful pendant that I am wearing. It features chain links interspersed with a vine and small rosebuds and a faint skeletal image peering out from the garnet depths of the heavy amulet. This lovely necklace, the “Poisoner’s Wife” will be free through the Fall 2009 Twisted Hunt, which runs September 1st – 30th. I will admit that goth is a little bit outside my comfort zone.  You will notice that even when I’m playing the vamp, I can’t let go of my usual red hair and blue eyes.  I just can’t.  But there’s something about these new []:: TULI ::[] Hope Goth skins that really appeal to me, so I had to give them an earnest try.  And I must say, I play a pretty hot goth.

I dig the VID, what can I say?

After a comment made by my friend Lisa Lunay about art imitating life and vice versa, I started to think about how my Avi is very much me in RL. Aside from the body, i modeled the face after my own, the big lips, slanted eyes, although.. i hate my nose RL so in SL i gave myself a cute nose. I realize the fashion that i wear, is very much a mirror of me in RL. I practically live in jeans and a tailored jacket and although i have many things in SL that i wouldn’t normally wear in RL, most of the day to day is the same. I started thinking about some of well known fashionistas in SL and what their day to day style is and how much their RL mirrors thier SL.

SL has allowed me to express so many things i wouldn’t have a chance or courage to in RL. I started reading my poetry for the first time here in SL and recently have the confidence to start reading RL! SL has influenced my style as well, i usually go for neutral or black in my wardrob, but i go for bold colors in SL, and when i shop RL, i find myself doing the same thing. It makes me laugh how much I’ve changed and i wonder, if i would’ve changed in those ways had it not been for this “game”, this virtual world that so many people make fun of and don’t give enough credit to.

oh well *shrugs* VIVA LA SECONDLIFE!
