He was wearing a baggy sleeveless T-shirt with the arm holes open all the way down to his rib cage. Below that he had on skin tight capri pants, black socks and khaki Converse-style shoes.

As horrible as the experience was I sort of wanted to salute the guy.

Afternoon birthday party: Purple floral ruffle tank from The Gap, navy capri pants from Dockers, bro

Afternoon birthday party: Purple floral ruffle tank from The Gap, navy capri pants from Dockers, brown embroidered flats

Aki once asked how my weekend style is different than my workweek style. I don’t know. If I have a genuine personal style, shouldn’t I be able to adapt it to different settings but still be “me?”

I used to think of Work Clothes as “dress up” and Weekend Clothes as “normal.” Whatever I did for work (nylons, blouses, heels) was a costume (imposed on me by Work). Out of costume, I reverted to jeans, sweats, t-shirts, men’s plaid flannel shirts. This was “regular me,” but not because I liked the way I felt or looked in these clothes. It was just my Default Wardrobe, inherited from college, updated to include cuter t-shirts or jeans when I bothered thinking about it.

Sometimes, I’d want to look cute on a weekend. But I wouldn’t want to wear my “work clothes.” Then I was stuck. This is why:

To Church: Navy cap-sleeve cotton top, linen pants, brown embroidered flats

1. My work clothes weren’t “me” and I didn’t like them.

2. I had no sense of style or identity apart from my job.

3. I tended to panic, buy cheap weekend clothes that were too trendy or lame, and then get frustrated when they wouldn’t work (or at least not for long).

Work wear is where my “dress up or give up” moment happened, but I’m trying to expand it to the weekend. Here’s what works: For times I want to look pretty but casual, cute cotton tops are working (I also can wear these to work on a casual day). Knits are good if I’m going to sweat and need some mobility (long walk) but I like how structured cotton is more deliberate and pretty. If I’m going to be indoors and it’s okay to be dressy (church, bridal shower), linen pants with flats are good. For more active times (kids’ birthday party, Farm sightseeing), sturdy washable capri pants are good. Shoes I choose by ground type: Cute flats for indoors or easy paved walking, cute walking sandals for parks or beach, and serious terrain shoes for serious terrain (Tevas for low mucky tide, hiking shoes for hikes).

Golf Course patio dinner: White Costco tee, brown J Crew Skirt, Alfani Petunia Sandals, turquoise medallion necklace. Inset is the cardigan I wore over it.

Also, I’m trying to wear necklaces all the time. I like to take that extra moment to look in the mirror and say, “hey lady, you deserve an ornament where you’re going.” It also turns a t-shirt into a look.

So here’s what I wore one sunny weekend in September. I didn’t photograph what I wore to get bagels and clean out the garage, so you can imagine that same white t-shirt and brown capri pants. Everything was comfortable, I felt confident and for the most part pretty. Most importantly, it was fairly easy for me to go where I wanted to go, because “what will I wear” wasn’t a big obstacle for me.

Also, isn’t the baby cute?

For my second post about the ::Emjay:: Sash Tops, I wanted to do some fall inspired looks. The top

For my second post about the ::Emjay:: Sash Tops, I wanted to do some fall inspired looks. The top comes in both beige and brown, and I thought it could be fun to celebrate the transitioning seasons by pairing this lovely top with some more traditional autumn items. For the beige top, I knew immediately what I wanted to do.

The tweed Capri pants from Pippa by MichaMi were the perfect welcome-to-fall item to pair with the beige Sash top. The only problem was that the colors didn’t quite match, so I made a copy and tinted them a dark brown to match the design on the top. I’m so glad those perfectly textured pants are mod. For shoes, I wanted some lovely brown boots to go with the outfit, and I chose the Danielle boots by Pixel Mode. They were the perfect compliment to the Capri pants.

I also knew immediately that the Chloe hair by Maitreya was the way to go. With its super-cute, golden blonde locks and tintable hat, it was the perfect compliment to the outfit. I went with the Shiloh (Honey) skin in Coconut by ::Exodi:: to continue the brownness of the outfit. The jewelry is from ::Exodi:: and Zaara.

I shot these photos on Oubliette, which is the home of Balderdash - one of my favorite jewelry stores in all of SL. If you’ve not taken the time to explore this wondrous SIM, you really should set out and explore. There are some lovely hidden gems to discover. Right now is the perfect time to go because the land is in transition from summer to autumn. It’s a wonderful transformation to witness.

For the brown Sash top, I wanted to do a little boho chic look, so I paired it with the jeweled jeans from Zaara and the Maitreya Dune boots in brown. I adore these boots, but of course I love everything Onyx LeShelle does.

That includes the Apple II hair, which is what put the boho chic concept in my head to begin with. I added the hair beds from Earthstones along with the Jharna bracelet in Attraction.

I kept the Patra Gold Wire bracelets from Zaara and added the Urvi chandelier earrings. I love the gold leaves on both the bracelet and the earrings. It was the perfect little touch to this look.

I shot these photos at The Far Away, a build by AM Radio. This is the first time I’ve shot there, and it really is an interesting place to visit. Of course, you don’t have to go to a wheat field to wear boho chic. I was just as comfortable shopping at Le.Look! later that evening.

Two fall inspired looks with the fabulous Sash tops by ::Emjay::. I’m not sure I will achieve my goal of building looks out of each color option, but I think with this post and the last you can get a good idea of just how versatile these tops are.

I’ve started taking pictures of what I wear each day. I figure this will generate some blog content, and boy is it a good way to double-check whether you’re wearing something you really want to be seen in. Also, sometimes people find out you have a fashion blog and they’re all “oh no you’d probably hate what I wear, I’m such a slob!” No dudes, we’re all just trying to make an effort here. This is my honest recap.

I am no expert on fashion, but the collective census of men that I know do not believe that you, nor anyone for that matter, should wear 70’s jeans. The truth is, this is probably one of the worst atrocities to occur in fashion since Capri pants, which are horrible on so many levels I can’t even begin to say (making women’s legs look short and stubby is their greatest crime). And yes, it’s true that Farah Fawcett and the entire cast of “That 70’s Show” all wore these awful jeans to a passable effect, but they are all very skinny, (and very hot) people that would pretty much look good in anything. If Farrah were alive today, she would tell the world to learn from her mistakes and let the 70’s jeans stay where they belong – in the back of a closet!

Dittos - expensive AND hideous

A little web research reveals that because these jeans, sometimes referred to as “Dittos” by those who follow horrible fashion trends, are being hocked to women at alarmingly high premiums, fetching as much as $500 a pair for pieces of wasted fabric and Chinese sweatshop laborers’ energy! I don’t have $500 or a wife, but if I did and she took that money to buy a pair of “Dittos”, I would immediately file for divorce and let her keep the pants!

“Why do they suck,” you ask? Well, I’ll be more than happy to tell you. Let’s start with the bottom of the pants (continually refer with disdain to above image for reference). Bell bottoms are great, but not when they look like the legs of 90’s Raver pants, covering the feet so completely so that no one can even tell where the floor ends and your legs begin. This ascends up the thigh into a fast taper until it reaches your camel toe, which is mercilessly squeezed because the crotch is designed far too high to make your legs appear longer. I would argue that if we can’t see your legs, why should we care that they are longer? By the time the fabric has reached your hips the pant has gone from ridiculously wide to ridiculously thin, so much so that your hips are being choked, which is fine, except for the jeans are now disregarding the all-important waste that you’ve worked so hard to maintain, and they just keep climbing up, and up, and UP your body, past your pubic bone (which is being crushed as we speak due to a shield-like flat front), now past your soon-to-be-chafed belly button, and basically just south of your breasts (which if you have a large cup size, are probably looming just above the jeans, like when the toilet almost overflows past the bowl). This, in effect, creates an “A” shape from the front. But if you put a chest and head on top of this shape, it looks completely unnatural, as if God added these parts of your body as afterthought. It’s like adding a giant balloon of Dolly Parton to the top of the Washington Monument!

this is with no butt

this is with a big butt

Now, let’s talk about the greatest travesty of all regarding the 70’s jeans – what it does to your ass. Now, if I understand one thing about jeans, it’s that they are capable of making a woman’s backside look the best that it possibly can. The right pair of jeans on the right woman can create mass hysteria among both sexes, and pretty much takes the cake when it comes to all-time greatest reasons to wear clothes at all. In the case of the 70’s jean, however, the ass is completely disregarded, and actually punished for being itself. I mean, yes, they define the lower part of the butt, but (pun intended) they then proceed to make the hips look too wide while subsequently making the waste too skinny. Instead of an apple bottom, you are now looking at two angry cheeks that are being forced down and apart against their will, with a top that is flat and huge like Mena Suvari’s forehead! How is that possibly a good thing?

Jessica Simpson demonstrates the "Reverse Ass Effect"

I’ve explained how 70’s jeans don’t look good on you, now it’s time to talk about why you don’t look in them. First of all, like most fashion trends, these jeans are designed for women who are 5′7″ or taller, skinny with no boobs and a small, polite ass that can be told what to do. I’m guessing that you aren’t that girl, and if you are, you still won’t look good in these jeans. Most women have at least a little fat on their stomachs (it’s ok, most men do, too), and the 70’s jean puts that on full display by making your whole front look completely bloated. Now those unwanted “glamour pounds” are on full display, like a turtle growing out of your stomach. This is what is referred to as the “Reverse Ass Effect” (see Jessica Simpson’s above). If you have wide hips, especially “saddlebags”, these jeans will ensure that they are on full display and accentuate the lower portion, unfairly contrasting your hips against the corset-like waist of the pants and the squeezing of the tops of your legs just below your butt. Speaking of your ass, if you happen to have a big one, then you can expect the results to be a cartoon-like exaggeration of what it really looks like, complete with the unflattering wedgie that gave birth to the term “reverse camel toe”. If you are one of those people who doesn’t have much of an ass at all, then the seat of the jeans will sag like a deflated balloon in this area, much like parachute pants from the eighties (which are also due for a comeback in 2015).

She committed suicide just after this picture was taken

Let me summarize by saying that there is NOTHING good about these jeans. Regular fit, low-cut, and even some forms of pocketless jeans are always preferred to this abomination in pants. If anyone does happen to look good in 70’s jeans, it’s simply because they are already hot, and would unanimously be better served by any alternative pants, dress, skirt, or ANYTHING else, for god sakes. Please, if you are a woman who owns a pair of these pants, do the universe a favor and burn them immediately. DO NOT donate them to Goodwill or sell them to Buffalo Exchange, because that means some other unwitting young woman, desperate to be “in style” may pick them up and the misery will continue. Now you know what you have to do – please kill the 70’s jean!

I once read that people curse because they have a limited vocabulary. As a writer I try to come up with tart replies that bully cursing right out of the equation. As a human being, I know that cursing is just an easy way out when you can’t think of the right words to properly express yourself. As a daughter, I know that my mother frowns upon bad language and feels that she’s taught me better. With all that being said, IT’S HOT AS BALLS IN NEW YORK RIGHT NOW AND I CAN’T FUCKING TAKE IT ANY MORE!!!!!

I walked three blocks to get an iced tea today and when I returned to the salon I was soaking wet and wilted with a serious white girl’s afro. The short jaunt made me mean and cranky and I’ve decided to rant about all the NYC fashion trends that need to die immediately. From this day forward, I am officially OVER:

People who wear boots in the summer; especially with shorts. I love my Fryes too but come on! It’s 90 freaking degrees outside with 80% humidity. Get a pair of sandals there, Harley Davidson. And don’t even get me started on over-the-knee boots. I saw some idiot today wearing daisy dukes, a tank top and over-the-knee boots. I truly hope she suffered a long and miserable heat rash in the name of “fashion.”

I am 100% over and done with Capri pants. They don’t look good on anyone. And no, I do not want to field emails from people saying they found the most amazing pair of Capri pants. Trust me, you have not.

Can someone please explain the flip-flop boot to me? I think this is absolutely ludicrous.

Short jean shorts with pockets hanging out the bottom just make you look lazy. And while we’re at it, I am all set with the super long t-shirt that hangs over the super short jean shorts.

Fedoras used to be cute. They are now sold on 14th street next to the Super Mario Brothers games and flat screen TVs. Ditch them.

I am all about leather looking leggings. Just not in the summer. Nothing says pool of sweat at the knees like a pair of vinyl leggings in August.

Unless it’s for a religious reason, there is absolutely no reason I can think of to be wearing tights in August.

Clear bra straps need to disappear forever. I can’t think of an uglier, tackier look than a shiny, sweat-stained “invisible” bra strap showing through a too-long tank top over daisy duke cutoffs.

I’m two more days of this sickening heat away from taking commando pictures of fashion disasters in the subway. Don’t let it be you!

There are certain essential summer items one must have: sunglasses, swimsuits, shorts, etc. Tank to

There are certain essential summer items one must have: sunglasses, swimsuits, shorts, etc. Tank tops are definitely on that “essentials” list. They can be dressed up or dressed down. They can be comfy and casual or pretty and feminine. Or, as is the case with the newest tank tops from Riddle, they can be sexy as hell.

Take The Plunge is my favorite set of tank tops. The neckline, like the name suggests, plunges way down lending a bit of sexy to an otherwise casual tank top. It’s a very daring neckline to be sure, but it also comes with an undershirt if you aren’t feeling quite so risque. The undershirts are a different color than the tank top itself, and you could very easily mix and match colors depending on what sets you buy. For only 80L, that’s a lot of mix and matching potential! I bought the Blue/Brown set and the Red/Black set, myself, but have my eye on a few more. You can also get all the colors in a fatpack for 600L.

I really love the texture on these tank tops. It’s incredibly well done, and the attention to detail is fantastic. Just look at the little shirt wrinkles in the front and back. They are perfectly placed, and the skull and wings graphic on the side is wonderful as well. Each set comes with a white and black graphic option lending a bit of edge to these tops. For my first look with Take The Plunge, I went pretty casual by pairing the blue top with the black undershirt from the red set and adding some capri pants from Decoy and some chunky shoes from Digital Dragon Designs. For jewelry, the Whiskey & Water set from Balderdash went perfectly with this shirt, and I added the Skully Pearly Bracelet from Lostwood, which is a freebie. If you’ve not been to Lostwood, you should check it out. She has some great stuff. I hope to see more jewelry in the future.

Later that week, I decided to wear the red top to my friend Maht’s dj gig, and I decided to go a little more rocker chic with it. I paired it with the Black Bondage Mini Skirt from WRONG and the ripped fishnets from Street Magic.

I also added the Lilith sleeves from SiniStyle using the taped fingers option. I love these because you can add them to almost anything and completely change your look. The tape on the fingers is a great touch. I kept the the same hair and skin as the previous outfit, Secret from TheAbyss and Shiloh (Honey) in Nosferatu from ::Exodi::.

Be sure to grab these tank tops from Riddle if you’re in the market for sexy summer wear. They come in a range of color options for you to choose from and are incredibly inexpensive, especially given how well made they are.

I went a little overboard at the MALT sale last weekend, I must confess. But I got some incredibly fun stuff, including a pair of black cargo shorts that I just had to show you.

I’m a big fan of cargo shorts, both rl and sl, because of their versatility and comfort. I knew when I bought them that they could be worn with a super casual look or a very sohpisticated and sexy look. Of course, I had to do both.

I started out with the casual look because I wanted to check out the opening of the Creve Coeur at First Meta opening. Lots of great designers have stores there, and the idea of a carnival was too fun to pass up. Here I am on the carousel.

I achieved my punky casual look by pairing the MALT Cargo Shorts with one of the Drama Queen tees by ::Exodi:: . For Blogger Appreciation Week, Ryker Beck was kind enough to gift us all with a little store credit, and this shirt is one of the things I bought with that. I really wanted one of the Drama Queen tees, but deciding which one was a bit tough. Since my motto is “duck and cover” when it comes to drama, I decided to go with the one that would create the least amount of it in my life. Plus, as soon as I saw this shirt that Katy Perry song started playing in my head.

I paired it with the Magika Robin hair in light purple because I like the edgy sexiness of it, and besides I have a hard time taking this hair off. For skin, I chose the Shiloh (Cream) Flower Girl by ::Exodi::. I really can’t say enough good things about Ryker’s skins. They’re perfect for my avatar.

For shoes, I chose the fun and funky Pornstar Hi-Tops by Urban Bomb Unit and tinted them to match the purple and black theme I had assembled in this outfit. I love these shoes because they are so customizable. And the drop-down menu makes modifying them so easy anyone can do it.

Jewelry I kept simple with some hoop earrings from ::Exodi:, one of the Leather 2 Strap Bracers from Urban Dare, and the lovely Lucky Star Bracelet by Violet Voltaire. I had a lot of fun at the carnival and exploring Creve Coeur. It’s a very fun and funky place.

Later that night, I decided to let the sexy and sophisticated side of Arcadia come out and play, so I paired the MALT Cargo Shorts with the Valerie top in blue by Leezu Baxter Designs.

This top is sheer, and you can either wear it as is, wear a bra underneath it, or wear all three layer options for a more conservative look. If you decide to be a bit more modest as I did, make sure you wear all THREE layers. As you can see in this photo, just wearing two of them doesn’t quite hide everything.

For shoes I went with the Maitreya Frenzy Banana shoes in black; yet another item I was able to get thanks to Blogger Appreciation Week. I just love the shoes at Maitreya, and the Frenzy line is one of my favorites.

This sexy and sophisticated updo hair is new to me, but it’s also by Magika and it’s called Bun. I bought it in the limited edition multi color. If you’ve not heard about this, run to Magika and check it out. They are putting multi-colored versions of certain hairs out for a limited time. I bought this version of Bun, and I was able to snag yet another color of the Robin hair, which makes me very happy.

The skin is another version of Shiloh by ::Exodi::. This one is the Water Lily edition of the Honey tone. The yellow eye makeup on this made me a bit hesitant, as we all know yellow is not one of my favorite colors, but when I put it on with this outfit it just popped. It’s really very pretty.

Because of the big and ruffled collar on the Valerie shirt, I skipped the necklace and concentrated on the bracelets. I got this great Melange fatpack of bracelets and earrings at the Zaara sale and went with the blue bracelets for this look because they were big and chunky. The earrings, I kept simple and just tinted the same Annah hoop earrings from ::Exodi:: that I had on with the last look.

The MALT cargo shorts are only 220L and are worth every linden just for the sheer versatility they provide. I bet you could come up with a myriad of ways to wear them. You’ll definitely have fun mixing and matching.

Hi

This new gown, dress and swimwear collection uses the colourful patterns of paint splashes as a motif for the fabric design.

The style is elegant simplicity with a touch of glamour for that sunny day by the beach or pool or that party that you just need to go to.

I got the inspiration from my memory of a photo I had of my mom, taken when she was in her early twenties, she was wearing such a dress with a full circular skirt with cute little puff sleeves with matching hat and shoes.

My mom’s name is Cecilia, hence why I called this collection “Cecilia”

Cecilia is available for purchase in 2 seperate collection, (1) Cecilia Beach Wear Sets and (2) Cecilia Gown & Dress Sets.

Both Cecilia collections comes in 8 assorted colours in my main store in Tropical Orchid. It is displayed in front on the red carpet runway stage.

cheers!
Nicky Ree

These days, trousers, slacks or pants have to be present in a women’s wardrobe. They not only provide comfort throughout the day but also offer freedom of movement. Women having wide hips need to wear boot cut trousers. These balance wide hips since they flare all the way up to the hem balance from the knee.

Plus size women with short legs need to wear high waist trousers that slim and visually elongate the silhouette. For adding more curves, wear mid-rising waist trousers with flaring legs.

Classic Trouser styles: These trousers are tailored garments having belt loops and a waistband along with a fly-front. Classic trousers are ideal for women who wear large sizes as they provide a lot of space in the hip and waist areas. Women can combine these with a jacket for a modern office wear and business set. These trousers are generally made of materials such as lines blends; tweed, gabardine and wool blend fibres, which are excellent for tailored clothing.

Plus Size Denim Jeans: Denim jeans are the most essential clothing of a wardrobe. Women can change their appearance from a tunic top to a sports t-shirt, without taking off the jeans. Plus size, wide leg denim jeans or boot cut jeans are a must in a wardrobe.

 Changes By Together Crop Trouser

Plus Size Shorts, Crop Pants and Capri Pants: The length of plus size Capri trousers needs to vary between the ankle and the knee. Capri trousers are available for summer and spring in floral patterns and bright colours. For casual wear, women can pair these Capri pants with flat pumps a tank top or halter to create a chic look.

Linen trousers in natural, neutral colours are the best for hot weather. These generally come in pastel colours or natural colours as well as white. Linen trousers are perfect for travelling since they are light in weight. Wide legged trousers, crop pants or Capri trousers are all made of linen fibre. Classic linen blend trousers are a must in a woman’s wardrobe since they fit comfortably and have a breezy style which is suitable for all occasions.

Plus Size Workout Trousers: This trouser is an important sports outfit for women who want to stay healthy and fit in comfort and style.

Plus Size Leggings: Plus size leggings go extremely well with flats, wedges or sneakers. The top garment needs to at least be near the mid-thigh. Black leggings are a must since they not only elongate a woman’s figure but also make the legs look slimmer. Try wearing the leggings and top in coordinating colours or in one colour to flatters the figure.

Plus Size Workout Leggings: Usually, workout leggings are made of poly/Lycra blend that dries quickly and has an odour-resistant finish. It provides coverage and warmth for biking and running apart from looking fashionable when worn under dresses or skirts.

Black, Plus size trousers have a slimming effect, look very feminine and can be worn for business meetings or other special occasions. These trousers generally have slightly flared or straight legs. Women can combine them with top apparel items such as a tunic, blouse or jacket to create a chic and stylish look.
