A veces pasa que vas a introducir un captcha cualquiera, y cuando vas a leerlo para escribirlo te das cuenta de que te está vacilando. Sin más.

That was odd.  I was just making a regular visit to Bing.ca (Microsoft’s Search Engine) and it wanted to know if I was real or not.

Nothing exciting happened when I entered in the wrong code for the captcha, just some red text saying it was incorrect.  I was hoping for something funny…

Everyone hates spammers. I hate them not because of the spam but because of the measures they force people implement to prevent spam, which in turn forces me to go through aforementioned measures. Pretty much every blog I try and comment on now makes me go through a Captcha word association game but now that’s even extended to Twitter via TrueTwit. It’s not enough that you could just decide not to accept the request, no, people have to put a TrueTwit response on their account which means:

1. You follow them
2. TrueTwit sends you a direct message
3. You click link to confirm you are real
4. You complete irritating Captcha
5. They then allow you to follow them

Such a pain in the arse as I’m getting TrueTwit come up on about 1 in 6 follows now – which means soon it will be one in 5… 4… 3… then everyone will have it. Soon, there will be a script/ robot/ platform to respond to TrueTwit to prove you are a human (or a spammer). Soon there will be something new. Soon we will have robots talking to scripts, talking to robots to prove we are human. Until then, join me in Beloved Raping… sorry, I mean the joy of robots throwing out random words.

Het is je vast wel eens overkomen. Je bent op een website en voert wat gegevens in of vraagt wat gegevens op. En voordat de site je verder toelaat tot zijn ingewanden, vraagt hij je eerst nog even om een paar letters en cijfers te lezen en die weer in de tikken. Alleen zien die tekens eruit alsof ze net door een mangel gehaald zijn.

Zoiets dus.

Die letterkronkels, zo heb ik onlangs geleerd, hebben een naam. En het is nog een leuke naam ook: captcha.

(In het Engels is het Captcha of CAPTCHA, maar het Nederlands is nogal antihoofdletter, dus ik neem maar vast een voorschot op de spelling die vast in een van de volgend edities van Van Dale zal staan.)

Je voelt het waarschijnlijk al aan: het woord captcha is niet zomaar uit de lucht komen vallen. Het lijkt niet voor niets op het Engelse capture, want een captcha probeert inderdaad iets te vangen. En wel: een computer die zich als mens voordoet.

Er zijn namelijk mensen die computerprogramma’s schrijven (ook wel bots genoemd) die op eigen houtje het web afsnuffelen – bijvoorbeeld om informatie te vergaren. Ze doen dan net alsof ze een websurfer zijn, zoals jij en ik. Maar zo’n programma kan niet op jouw beeldscherm kijken, en daarom is een captcha een toets om te zien of jij wel echt een mens bent.

De gekozen spelling van captcha is ook al niet uit de lucht komen vallen. Het is namelijk een afkorting, zij het eentje die met veel moeite in elkaar geknutseld is om de juiste klank en betekenis te krijgen. Hou je vast: een captcha is een Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart.

Wil je weten wat een “Turing Test” is, kijk dan eerst even naar deze Taaleidoscoop. Maar het mooie van een captcha is dat het eigenlijk een omgekeerde Turing Test is: niet een mens die een computer van een mens wil onderscheiden, maar juist een computer die een mens van een computer wil onderscheiden.

Het woord captcha is gelanceerd in 2000 door onderzoekers van Carnegie Mellon University en IBM. Maar de eerste pogingen om een soortgelijke toets te ontwikkelen dateren al van enkele jaren eerder.

Inmiddels wordt er trouwens door cybersnoodaards natuurlijk ook software ontwikkeld om captcha’s te omzeilen. De race tussen vlees-en-bloed en bits-en-bytes is dus nog niet gelopen…

El primer tutorial debe de ser la creación de cuentas de correo electrónico, imprescindibles para moverse en las comunidades y comunicarse a traves del ordenador.

Para ello, lo primero sería en la barra de direcciones del navegador poner www.gmail.com y seleccionar create an account

La siguiente página web que se carga está relacionada con el nombre de la cuenta de correo, todos los datos pueden ser inventados, por supuesto. Ya hablaremos un día de donde apuntar todas estas identidades y contraseñas que vamos almacenando a lo largo de nuestra vida tecnológica.

En check availability comrpueba si tu usuario está disponible con el servicio de correo de gmail. Posteriormente recuerda poner una contraseña de las que se consideran fuertes y ello se consigue mezclando letras y numeros. Bueno bueno sería la posiblidad de incluir algún tipo de carácter como -*. Se me olvidaba, tambien quizas algúna entrada con Mayuscúlas.

Ya queda poco, solo si queremos asociar este correo a otra cuenta de correo por aquello de que se olvidan las contraseñas y te las envían a esta cuenta secundaria. Lo más difícil a veces es el código de seguridad Captcha donde aunque esté preparado para evitar altas autmáticas de las máquinas, resulta que a veces yo mismo los fallo. Bueno, a ver si el siguiente código es más sencillo de entender. Ya hablaré un día sobre este código insertado captcha.

Ya hemos finalizado el proceso, congratulations. Seleccionando showmyaccount ya podemos entrar en la cuenta que acabamos de crear. ATENCIÓN, hemos entrado en la cuenta pero no la hemos verificado con nuestra entrada y contraseña.

Esto os lo dejo a vosotros, arriba a la derecha sign out para salir y poner vosotros vuestro nombre de usuario (username) y contraseña (password).

Finalmente, dado que escribo el blog en castellano, cambiar el lenguaje al mismo si no lo ha detectado el navegador. Vamos a settings

y seleccionamos el idioma con el que queremos el entorno, dicese de la interfaz.

Por mais que pareça inacreditável, aqueles emaranhados de letras e números distorcidos conhecidos como captcha não servem somente para complicar a sua vida, eles se prestam a algo mais nobre.

Trata-se de um mecanismo que garante que as páginas da web sejam editadas tão-só por humanos. Logo, afigura-se como uma vital medida de segurança, a qual evita que bots maquiavélicos dominem o mundo virtual.

O problema é quando as benditas letrinhas misturam-se tanto que a leitura fica completamente impossibilitada. Foi o que ocorreu comigo há pouco:

En nuestra página dedicada a Aion: www.aion-fansite.com , estamos teniendo un problema con el spam en los foros. Pues bueno os voy a contar la solución que hemos implementado:

1. Banear las Ips de los spammers (pobre resultado, ya que sueles ser Bots o máquinas, las que se dedican a ello de forma automática y cambian las ips).
2. La mejor forma de evitar los Bots, es poner un gráfico con un texto, el cual tiene que ser repetido en su correspondiente campo. A esta técnica se le llama Captcha.
3. No encuentro ningún mod que sirva para tal efecto y decido crearlo manualmente.
4. En  http://blog.unijimpe.net/captcha-con-php-y-jpgraph/ , encuentro un excelente artículo, en donde explica como implementar un sistema Captcha propio, usando php. Pues basándome en este artículo realizo mis propias modificaciones en php nuke. Visitar el enlace y descargar los ejemplos.
   • Dentro de la carpeta: \html\modules\Your_Account\  de Php Nuke, vamos a copiar el fichero captcha.php  y la biblioteca JpGraph, en la carpeta Inc .
   • Luego hay que  modificar el fichero index.php: buscar en este fichero la función: confirmNewUser e incluir estas líneas:

Pues con estas dos modificaciones ya lo tenemos resuelto:

 Aparece una imagen con una combinación de número y letras, la cual se tendrá que verificar para poder darse de alta.

Me parece una idea genial la que han tenido los chicos de the2ndday. Se trata de cambiar los molestos captcha (esas letrajas amontonadas que no hay quien adivine, o con dibujos de perros y gatos…) por algunos “cuestionarios” “facilitos” sobre tipografía.

Vale, alomejor no son tan facilitos (quizás algunos de vosotros lo preferiríais sobre química, fútbol o cotilleos de celebrities…); pero me parece una buena idea transformar los horribles captcha en una especie de trivial… (facilito por favor); por lo menos aprendes algo, no?

In order to stop malicious applications (robots) from submitting your forms over and over again creating extremely painful data and performance problems the best thing you can do is add captcha to your forms.

Captcha stands for “Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart”. It uses an image containing deformed text which is impossible for computers to read but can be deciphered by a human. When submitting a form the user must enter the text correctly which is validated by the Captcha control. If the text is correct the validation passes if not it fails. When the validation fails the form cannot be submitted.

A nice free Captcha library and services is the ReCaptcha services which is completely free and extremely easy to use.

Bonjour à tous.
Pour ce premier billet, j’ai décidé de publier une petite fonction qui permettrais de potentiellement bloquer l’enregistrement des robots sur votre site en générant une image de questionnement. Il fonctionne sur plusieurs type de question:

1. Recopier un mot
2. Résoudre une addition
3. Résoudre une équation

Il fonctionne sous forme de fonction qui créée une session avec la valeur correcte du Captcha qu’il suffit de vérifier à la page suivante:

Concrètement, le script génère aléatoirement une image avec une équation, une addition ou un mot à recopier.

Le mot à recopier tient compte de la casse et est floutté pour rendre la détection robotisé la plus difficile possible.

I am sick and tired of Google search making me do captchas to prove I am human.

How is Google determining when to put these barriers in front of humans trying to use their search engines?

I have had terms like “nvidia driver” , “best cooler for e8400″ picked up my the anti-droid police in the last few minutes. Hell, even “captcha” got caught. How are those not human things to ask a search engine?

Hello Google. For the last time, I am human. You’ll really be sorry if you keep putting barriers before your users. Perhaps Microsoft Bing will recognize my humanity.
