I only shoot when I am moved by the moment itself.  Regardless of the subject, my camera simply becomes my translator of the moment as I experience it.  Instinctively maneuvering myself and my lens to embrace the moment fully, through framing, perspective, and ambient lighting, I ‘dance’ with my camera.  Like a first kiss, a moment cannot live again.  Thus I only have an instant to capture that moment… no re-takes… either I caught it or I did not.

Black and white photography has always held an added dimension of wonder for me.  The hushed unfolding of the moment, without the distraction of color, leads me straight to the story itself.

Color photography recently became a renewed form of storytelling for me.  The energy of color, whether bold or subdued, can heighten the sensory connection to the moment.

Regardless of your own preference for color or black and white photography, I invite you to ‘dance’ with the moment as you view my images.

Due to the fact that my schedule was quite full this past weekend along with the fact that I get quite severe motion sickness from watching 3D movies, ride films and IMAX movies, I was not able to see most of the presentations that were shown at this year’s Interactive Futures conference at Emily Carr. That being said, the one performance that I was able to see in at least some form was t2:Echo by Henry Daniel.

While I was not able to see the entire performance, due to the fact that the concourse gallery walls that were blocking my seeing most of the actual dancers’ performances. On top of this, I was also helping direct the audience members to their respective locations, facilitating their viewpoints and actively going to get benches for more vertically challenged people to stand on.

By positioning the dancers in two separate yet interlinked locations, the director was able to create a bridge between the performances. This was further articulated by the video coding and processing for telepresence technology that was used to create the concurrent ghosting effect that was seen on the wall of the ECUAD concourse gallery and the main display screen in the IDS Motion Capture studio.

The ghosting effect that was projected onto the concourse gallery wall showed the dual performances and interlaid them onto one another and provided a somewhat random video playback quality as each dancer took centre stage in front of the crowd. They also entered the stage from multiple entry points and once their rotation in each location was complete, they then ran either to or from the concourse gallery and IDS MoCap studio in order to continue their respective performances there.

I have never seen a live dance performance like this before and it was quite the sight to see, as the dancers themselves were able to glide through the space with the greatest of ease and truly encompass it. From what I could see, it was a beautiful and creative bridging of technology and human performance into a multi-faceted co-locative art piece and would enjoy seeing more performances by Henry Daniel and his accompanying dance troupe.

So, there are a number of options when you are trying to scan into sharepoint. What application do you choose?  What features are important?  Many of the software vendors label their software as capture, but in my opinion fall short of true capture functionality.

First, I think it is so important to differentiate between scanning applications and capture applications:

SharePoint Basic Scanning Software

Let’s create a definition and define a feature set for scanning applications.  A scanning applition is just a means to take paper, and quickly and easily convert it from paper to digital form.  They are well suited to environments with very basic needs, and what I call “onsie-twosie” scanning, or low volume environments.  Their feature sets provide very basic functionality, and may allow the use of basic separation, and very basic integrations with SharePoint.  The majority of scanning hardware vendors bundle these applications with their hardware, although there are vendors that have taken it to the next level, and provide enhanced scanning capabilities beyond the typical bundled software.

Examples of Basic SharePoint Scanning or Basic Imaging Software:

VizitSP (Web part scanning with a great viewer and search)

Fujitsu ScanAll (Vendor specific with basic scanning)

Dark Blue Duck Scan Enabler (Web part based scanning)

SharePoint Capture Software

Capture software can be utilized for basic scanning needs, but takes you to a whole new level from a “capture” perspective.  These applications typically have a number of ways to “slice and dice” documents, and really focus on efficiency, and minimizing the time required to scan, index and capture data.  Capture software provides numerous ways to automatically populate columns, including barcode reading, database lookups, OCR, and data extraction.  True capture applications provide integration with scanners, folders with images, SharePoint Web Dav folders, etc.  Any organization that is serious about processing paper documents, and want to do it in the most efficient, standardized manner, should look seriously at advanced capture applications:

It is interesting, as the true capture companies in the market have been very slow to adapt to and embrace SharePoint, probably because of their relationships/partnerships with other document management companies.

In summary, if you are planning on capturing more than a few documents a day and want to make sure the scanning process takes minimal time and can integrate into your business processes, go with Capture.

Photography is not at all difficult. But the problem is still beating, clear, strong and concentrated. This article focuses on how to get your picture to concentrate.

The sharpness of your shot is considered the most important part of your image quality. A shot that is cut or lower quality than Look Sharp. Even if the image is sharper, less mega pixels, it will be even better. Learn to take sharp pictures is to helpGive most of the plants.

Gestern wurde meine Olympus E-30 geliefert. Da das aber erst Nachmittags geschah, kam ich noch zu einem Foto mit meiner E-510.

Das Bild wurde mit Gimp etwas bearbeitet, dann aber mit dem “Nik Efex Pro” Filter “Glamour Glow” aufpoliert. Efex hat es mir wirklich angetan. Leider funktioniert Efex nur unter Photoshop (CS oder Elements) und Capture NX2. Nachdem ich bereits CS getestet habe und mich überhaupt nicht damit anfreunden konnte, probiere ich mich momentan an Elements. Da Efex für Capture aber nur die Hälfte kostet, werde ich das auch noch testen.

Les Mac Aficionados disposent d’ailleurs d’un excellent outil pour le faire: le capteur d’écran!

Celui-ci s’active facilement à l’aide d’une combinaison de touches clavier que je ne vous apprends certainement pas!

Ainsi, si vous souhaitez capturer une partie de votre écran, trois méthodes vous sont proposées:

le fameux: Cmd (commande, aussi appelée touche pomme)+ Maj (flèche pointant vers le haut) + 3 (touche numérique)

Cmd + Maj + 3=capture totale de l’écran

mais aussi

Cmd+Maj + 4= sélection d’une partie de l’écran (il faut alors déplacer le curseur de la souris et sélectionner une zone qui devient grisée)

ou encore

Cmd+Maj+4+ espace (barre d’)= appareil photo que l’on déplace avec la souris pour sélectionner une partie de l’information sur l’écran

Les captures apparaissent sur votre bureau sous forme d’image .png. Si vous avez du mal à les retrouver, faites un tour du côté de la barre latérale du Finder,  sous Rechercher > Aujourd’hui qui classe vos fichiers récemment modifiés.

Pour assister ceux et celles qui sont rapides à la gâchette, l’éditeur de logiciels Wuonm vient de mettre à jour Layers (couches, en anglais!), une véritable petite merveille!
