Premi El Vaixell de Vapor 2009, per El triomf d'en Polit Bonaveu, de Carles Sala

El guardó, dotat amb 24.000 euros, es va lliurar en una festa d’homenatge al 25è aniversari d’Editorial Cruïlla, de la col·lecció i del premi d’El Vaixell de Vapor, en què també es va fer entrega d’un guardó commemoratiu als vint-i-quatre guanyadors de les anteriors edicions. El premi 2009 de literatura juvenil Gran Angular va ser declarat desert.

Carles Sala i Vila (Girona, 1974) és mestre. Des de fa un quant temps es dedica també a l’artesania i, sobretot, a escriure històries per a nois i noies. Des del 2008 ha publicat Sóc com sóc (Barcanova), Flairosa, la bruixa dels sabons (segon premi Barcanova) i Bona nit, Júlia (La Galera, premi Guillem Cifré de Colonya). També ha publicat dos contes a la revista Cavall Fort. El triomf d’en Polit Bonaveu es publicarà aquesta tardor a la sèrie blava de la col·lecció, adreçada a lectors a partir de set anys.

El triomf d’en Polit Bonaveu (sinopsi)

En Polit Bonaveu és un home net i polit com ell sol, que viu senzillament en un piset vell i atrotinat de la ciutat. Un dia, però, l’assessor artístic Amadeu Tucanta descobreix el do que té en Polit per cantar, si més no quan és a la dutxa, i li proposa de fer-se artista dels escenaris. A partir d’aleshores, la vida d’en Polit Bonaveu canvia de dalt a baix. Arrossegat involuntàriament per l’esperit negociant de l’Amadeu Tucanta i el seu soci -en Conrad Jocobro-, es troba actuant a l’auditori de la ciutat aquella mateixa nit, amb el sobrenom de la Veu Prodigiosa i davant d’una expectativa sense precedents.

Però, com ja ho havia advertit als seus assessors, en Polit mai no ha cantat fora de la dutxa de casa seva, i pel que es veu avui no podrà fer cap excepció, encara que sigui dalt de l’escenari. La polèmica està servida! I els maldecaps també!

Tot i alguns moments de desànim profund, però, aquesta limitació -gens banal per a un cantant- no aconsegueix fer desistir en Polit Bonaveu, sobretot gràcies a la Petra Arquet, la directora de l’orquestra. La Petra, una dona decidida que no pot sofrir la manera de fer dels Tucanta & Jocobro, s’ha inventat una tècnica que ha salvat la carrera de molts dels artistes que en Polit admira: la Marina Veufina, en Tip Baix, en Roc Corranda, la Julieta Dodepit…

Pel que sembla, ara és el torn d’en Polit Bonaveu. El seu futur com a cantant en depèn.

FINCA MAS RODÓ Wine Pleasures´summer visit to a young winery with a lot of potential

I enjoyed the pleasant contrasts of Mas Rodo, a family-owned and managed winery and vineyard set in the High Penedes, from the unnamed entrance to their deceptively simple-looking bottles of wine. The unidentified gate that turns into a long driveway may confuse some strangers, but once we arrived inside the property, the family was nothing but welcoming and forthcoming. The winery itself has several pretty, old stone buildings, but the heart of it clearly is their Wine Cellar, an arresting stone structure encased in a bright, modernistic, wooden shell. (Notably, this was designed by Carles Sala and was a finalist in Spain´s ¨Living with Wood¨architectural competition.) Together these old and new buildings overlook what is one of the largest estates in the region, but surprisingly the winery maintains relatively low production. And although the winery currently sells only merlot, riesling and montonega, each wine was memorable, and there is the promise of many more varieties to come.

The estate has been growing vines for decades, but Mas Rodo was formed just five years ago. In 2004, the approximatey 150-hectare estate was purchased by the Sala family. During the tour, Oriol Sala emphasized the intensive thinning and pruning of vines, hand-harvesting of grapes, a rigorous second sorting of the harvest, and the resulting low production of wine. These techniques are meant to ensure a quality that sophisticated wine connoisseurs could appreciate, but Mas Rodo´s more ambitious goal is to make high quality wine that novices or connoisseurs can understand and enjoy. They hope to achieve this range with their quality standards and marketing and educational efforts. The Mas Rodo bottle labeling was designed to attract and edify consumers. The front label is simple and elegant, providing only the company name, year, wine, and a brief but vivid description of the wine.The back label provides specific details on the grape, the soil and land it was harvested from, its fermentation process, and even production figures for the vintage

The winery anticipates being fully open this summer for tours and free tastings. I am already looking forward to bicycling through the undulating green hills of Mediona one autumn day, and revisiting Mas Rodo. Perhaps their muscat will be ready then, or I can enjoy sipping in their Wine Cellar the lovely montonega, drinking in as well the spectacular views of their vineyard awash in orange and red-golds set against a backdrop of the lush Penedes mountains.

Premis Barcanova d'infantil i juvenil

Els premis Barcanova han correspost a Gemma Pasqual, per Llàgrimes sobre Badgad, en l’apartat de juvenil; i a Carles Sala, per Flairosa, la bruixa dels sabons, en infantil. Llegiu-ne més detalls a Vilaweb. Enguany, amb normes i un calendari renovats, la participació ha estat més alta de l’habitual en els darrers temps: 46 originals a infantil i 35 a juvenil. Felicitats als guanyadors!
