My first experience with technology occurred via the Nintendo Entertainment System in the early 1980

My first experience with technology occurred via the Nintendo Entertainment System in the early 1980’s and extended to most of the popular gaming consuls which have been developed since. Of course that information is not relevant to an educational technology course; however, I also had a learning computer which could be played directly through the television. It had spelling and math games, but like most early educational programs they were not very fun. At least it was in the shape of a cartoon frog.

NES

When I started going to elementary school I was able to experience the wondrous world of the Apple IIe, dot matrix printers, and floppy discs. I do not accurately remember what we did with the computers but I know we used them in an educational manner. I will never be able to get the image of the blinking green cursor out of my mind, and I fondly remember tearing the sides off of the printed pages because it was a competition to see who could make the longest continuous piece. I changed schools after the second grade because my family moved. At my new school I didn’t experience computers again until the sixth grade. The computers were better than the old Apples, or at least newer, but they were far from the top of the line for that time period and they were PCs with MS-DOS. I remember that for enrichment we were allowed to play the Oregon Trail and Where in the World is Carmen San Diego games, of course it motivated most of the students to do well in the class. This was also my first experience with CD-ROMs.

Apple IIe

Computers were not a large part of my middle school experience other than using them for recreational purposes at friends’ houses. As I got to high school computers became a much more integral part of certain classrooms. I learned how to officially type on a computer and use word processing software such as Office 95 in a business class in ninth grade.

I had technology/shop classes throughout high school in which we actually taught the instructor (who was an older man) how to run the brand new CAD and CAM programs set up the computers etc. In computer class I learned how to create presentations and effectively search the internet. Our school at that time was purchasing new computers every two years or sooner it seemed. All of the classes used PCs except the computer classes because the computer teacher preferred Macs. The last version I can remember using was the G4 and since then I have for better or worse only been exposed to PCs. I also took some computer courses in high school such as ASCII and C++ of which I remember very little, if anything. I also used certain software in science classes that simulated experiments etc. My family didn’t get our first computer until about 1998 and by then it was used mostly for the internet and the DVD-ROM.

Mac G4

In college I learned how to use Excel at a rudimentary level. I have experience using a video camera for both personal and professional matters. I have used a projector before although I merely turned it on and off. I have experience with PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, and Internet Explorer. I also have some knowledge on how to set up home audio/video systems. I previously blogged for wnst.net as a sports writer and know how to use social networking sites such as facebook, blackboard etc.

I think technology is important especially in today’s rapidly advancing society. Technology can facilitate and often improve classroom learning. I am not a wizard of technology like many younger folks today but I can figure things out and am not afraid to do so.

America’s new boy king, Barack Obama, has brought his charm offensive to Turkey. Wasn’t

America’s new boy king, Barack Obama, has brought his charm offensive to Turkey. Wasn’t it just a few days ago that he was posing for cameras at the G20 and offering half-baked ideas about rogue capitalism and stimulus packages, European cooperation and more NATO troops for Afghanistan? Later, to a swooning crowd, he offered a John Lennonish imagining about a nuclear free world. Only not yet, he hastened to add. That’s a lot on a plate for a boy king.

Before his detractors could scratch their groins and mumble WTF???? And even before his devoted followers could murmur “where in the world is Carmen San Diego? the boy king popped up on the red carpet in Ankara. With great fanfare, and many more photo-ops he rejoiced that, unlike his first magical mystery tour to Pakistan in 1981, he could he could enter an Islamic country with an American passport.

Turkey and its neighbors

It’s easy to see why, like Bush before him, Obama is currying favor with the Turks. The military and the oil men want him to. Israel wants him to. And why shouldn’t he smooth over the rift Bush opened with his disingenuous and poorly managed attack on Iraq? There is still much to be gained in a Turkish deal: NATO airbases for an attack on Iraq or Afghanistan or western Pakistan, the re-supply of our permanent troop support to protect the pipeline, and water, the watershed of the Tigris and Euphrates as it flows downstream from Turkey and through Iraq and Syria. Perhaps a new water deal with thirsty Israel will be possible.

Turkey can be an interlocutor among Egypt, Hamas, Syria, Israel, Palestine. Then, there’s pesky Iran. Operation pincher. Iran between the nutcrackers of Iraq, Turkey, Afghanistan. How long will it be before someone insists there, too, are weapons of mass destruction.

What does King Obama offer Turkey in exchange for her delights? Entry into the European Union. Obama has offered Turkey, in his churlishly arrogant way, Europe’s hand in marriage; whether the Europeans like it or not. Europe has strongly intimated that it does not want a shotgun marriage. Turkey is not Western enough and certainly not Christian. Being tacitly secular, for a former Islamic state, is not enough. Europe is full to the gills with undigested Muslims. Why doesn’t Obama offer the Turks American citizenship?

One other pesky problem: the Armenian genocide, which the Turks deny and the Armenians and the rest of the world avow. During the campaign for the presidency, Obama’s website stated the the Armenian genocide was an “admitted fact”. A House resolution is slated, yet again, to deal with the question of the massacres that cost 1.5 million Armenian lives during WWI. But it is currently being reported that “no one can predict” what the little king’s expedient stance will be now that he as been elected.

We all know how pretty little Obama can change his mind on matters that he used to be certain about. He can keep mighty quiet about things like genocide-recall Indonesia 1965-1968 and East Timor 1975-1999.

United Against the Force

The other day I was working out at my gym. I was resting in between sets and noticed a very attractive woman walk by me with massive porn star tits. Naturally, it was like the reflex test you used to get at the doctors office when they’d hold a finger up in front of you and ask you to follow it. As my eyes went from right to left as this potential sex deviant walked past me, I hear someone say, “You’re so pathetic. If you leave your tongue out like that when you’re lifting heavy weight you’ll probably regret it,” (I can do bicep curls with the 7.5lb dumbbells, yes, I’m jacked). I turn to see who caught me gawking and I see it was my friend Bethany. “Please lady,” I respond, ”What am I supposed to do when I see two nipples starring right at me? It’s impolite to acknowledge someone and not look them in the eyes.”

This got me thinking about an untold truth. Women seem to have an inherent hold over men. Since it was proven in a Harvard study in 1968 that men are much more intelligent than women, we know it’s not because they’re smarter than us. Then what is it? Men think they’re pursuing women, but the whole time it’s women pursuing us. They lure us in with their sexuality. Then once they’ve convinced us to commit to them (marriage), they’re no longer interested in giving us their form of bait, sex.

Like the assassination of JFK, the potential alien landing in Roswell, and the continuous search for Carmen San Diego, there are just some things that we may never have the answers to. We at WTFWJCVDD understand that there exists something so powerful that even Super Man could not resist it himself, and in return sacrificed his powers for it. We call them boobies. In looking deeper into this matter, we decided we’d do our due diligence. We have investigated some unbelievable national events and linked them to what the real cause of these events were. The results are something else…

I’m sure everyone remembers Steve Bartman. He was the guy that reached over and prevented Moises Alou from catching that foul ball in Game 6 of the NL Championship against the Marlins. People believe that action set off a chain reaction and ruined the momentum for the Cubs in the end of the playoffs, thus robbing them of their World Series debut and potential championship. What people don’t know is that even though Steve is a goofy looking fella, he still had a girlfriend and she was at that game. Not only was she at that very game, but she continuously begged Steve to try to catch her a foul ball. When the ball hit by Luis Castillo came near them, she encouraged (forced) him to reach out an snag it. Her boobie hold made Steven make the wrong decision and while she went home after the game to rub lotion on her nipples, Steve went home to his S.W.A.T. guarded residence for the next month until the death threats subsided.

Here’s another man made to look a fool by the power of boobies – Eliot Spitzer. Eliot Spitzer was the former Governor of New York before he resigned when he was caught participating in a prostitution ring. Before he was the Governor, he was a highly acclaimed, well respected Attorney General for the state of New York. Even all his accomplishments and intelligence couldn’t protect him from the Boobie Power. His dilemma came about when his wife refused to put out. It’s hard enough to quit boobs, but no one goes cold turkey. He was forced to get involved with this prostitution ring to get his fix and ultimately got caught and ruined 30 years of hard work. Thanks a lot Mrs. Spitzer.

Enron is one of the biggest scandals in history. Jeffrey Skilling, the CEO of the company, originally wanted to go into the diaper business. However, his wife at the time pressured him into doing something that made more money and she did this by using her Boobie Power. Skilling’s wife insisted that he buy her a private island. Since he hadn’t a clue how to make that kind of money, he decided to steal it. Why work hard for something when you can invest your effort into creating a sweet scam? Anyway, he got caught and sent to jail after the scheme was discovered and his wife left Mr. Skilling for his successful meteorologist brother.

What have we learned here? When people cannot control their actions because of a mental disability, we often write it off and say, “Oh they can’t help it.” But when Bartman tried to impress his girlfriend, Spitzer went looking for his medicine, and Skilling tried to please the love of his life, they’re given no leeway? I’m not saying what they did was right at all (actually god bless Eliot Spitzer), but why not punish the people in charge? We know those guys weren’t in control of their minds. A man acting on the actions of Boobie Power should be given a pardon like someone under coersion or duress held at gunpoint and forced to choose between following directions or their own life. I for one say fuck this nonsense and something needs to be done. Now excuse me while I try to suffocate myself in between a heavy chested broad that just texted me telling me to come over. Drive slow…

I’m down to single digits now, and I’m not just talking about my IQ.

My wordpress account has alerted me to my page viewings, seems that on the most popular day, I got four views. One of them would no doubtedly be me, and probably one was my grandma, so to you two people out there, hiya!

Not that I do anything for readership, mum can’t understand why people read blogs. I haven’t read anyone else’s for a long time, probably because I’m self-centred and the world revolves around me. I’m single after all, who else is there to care about?

Noone seems to know ‘Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego?’ If you do, please comment and vindicate me for choosing this name for my blog. It was a significant era in my life as a child… I really thought it was more common.

My hot water has heated, Friends is on and I’d much rather be with them than with you. It’s all about me, after all.
