There are essential things that you will need to find out in the beginning. First is the means of travel available to you at destination. How will you move from one place to another? What are the places that you will be visiting and what is the best means of travel available to those places?

How safe is the transportation system? How expensive it? Then you have to think of where you will sleep. Are there any cheap hostels or camping grounds? Think of any YMCAs, YWCAs, youth hostels or even families that offer their homes for a fee. How is the local food, are you familiar with it?

Being unable to use the big hotel chains, it is important to think about food because smaller accommodation places may not serve an international menu. If you are traveling from a developed country to a tropical developing country make sure to take cholera, typhoid and Hepatitis A&B vaccination and to take anti-malarial drugs two weeks before the day of travel.

After carefully planning and choosing your destination it is time to think of some basics items to take with you to make your backpacking adventure a happy one. First you will need a large, durable and waterproof backpack to carry all your essentials. If traveling to a developing country where safe to drink water may not always be available, think of investing in a mini water purification system.

A money belt is a good idea to buy to carry you cash, passport and any valuables. Get a good easy to set-up tent, easy to carry tent but you may not need one depending on where you are going you can always hire one at destination but inform yourself first. Most tropical destination a have a mosquito problem invest tin one even if you have taken anti-malaria medication those bites can leave nasty marks. Also buy some mosquito repellent cream to use on your arms, face and any exposed areas. You will need waterproof cases one for your camera, one for your phone, a rain coat for you and gloves if need be.

Foot wear is important but you cannot afford to carry too much. If you will be doing any hiking get a good pair of hiking boots, open toe sandals are good for resting your feet and for the hottest destinations. Pack weather appropriate clothing, light fabrics for the tropics but do not forget that it can get chilly in the nights too so have at least one sweater or light jacket. For calling home check to find out the best way to keep in touch, should you add roaming charges to your cell phone plan or can you make cheaper call using calling cards.

Another alternative is to use Voip. Have you and your family subscribe to services like Yahoo messenger or skype and you can make free calls home. But keep in mind that you may not always find internet service or reliable one to make clear calls. You can always keep in touch by email

Back in the simple days of air travel, a nice set of luggage containing at least three pieces was enough. Carry on bags were usually men’s briefcases and ladies purses. Those days are long gone. We have much more to carry now and with airport restrictions being what they are, it can be difficult to pack what you need to, without damaging electronic equipment.

Pleasure or Business

The type of luggage or bags you need for your trip will depend upon if you are traveling for business or for pleasure. If you are a business traveler you may only need a wheeled traveler to keep all your things together and perhaps a garment bag for you to pack the all important power suit. Of course if you carrying your laptop, you will need your computer briefcase to carry it.

For those who are traveling for pleasure, they may not need a garment bag. They made just need a nice matched set of luggage is large enough to pack what you need, yet compact enough to travel and carry through the airport with ease. Your carry one luggage may consist of a small bag where you carry important things like magazines, gum, tickets and itineraries and anything else you are allowed to carry on these days.

Types Of Luggage You Can Choose From

No matter what your style is or the reason for traveling, there are many different kinds of luggage you can buy these days. Many people opt for backpacks. They also come with a computer compartment or they can come as wheeled back packs, though I think that kind of defeats the purpose. You can find a wide selection of wheeled luggage which you may find more convenient to lug around the different areas of the airport where you have to check in. There are also great roomy carry-ons if you are only going on a short trip and don’t want to check your luggage.

There are also many name brand luggage companies where you can choose your traveling gear. Companies like American Tourister often have the latest in trends and are well known for their strength and durability. You can choose from Samsonite, a company that has been selling luggage for a few generations or any number of famous name luggage brands.

You can do your shopping for your traveling gear quickly and easily when you decide to do it online. You will be able to visit many websites and compare prices and values, so you can pick the perfect set of luggage that will be able to handle long trips and quick jaunts for many years to come. Most people don’t realize that buying luggage is an investment. You may cringe at the price at first, but if it quality made, it should last you a lifetime.

Next time you are ready to fly the friendly skies, leave your old ratty suitcase at home and invest in a piece of luggage that tells the world you have some grace, style and class

Author: Harwood E Woodpecker
Source: ezinearticles.com

At some point or another we have all had to carry out some home improvement task or another in our own homes. Some of us enjoy these tasks whilst others find them nothing more than a chore that has to be completed. One thing that can make a home improvement task that little bit easier to carry out is to be organised from the outset and know exactly what you need to finish the task and where everything is, this way you won’t get half way through a job only to find you need to take yet another un-scheduled visit to the hardware, key workwear
, store. What are the best, key workwear
, ways to get your self organised for these do it yourself tasks?

Being, key workwear
, organised when working on a do it yourself project is the key to minimising the stress as well as helping to make the project run smoother and by simply applying a little bit of common sense it is not that difficult to do.

Before, key workwear
, you start work on your project, key workwear
, you should always read through any instructions or plans that you may have, making notes on what tools and materials you will need to finish the job. Make sure you have bought plenty of material to allow for a little wastage, key workwear
, as well as, key workwear
, the odd mistake, key workwear
, . The old adage of, key workwear
, measure twice and cut once is as important now as, key workwear
, it was thirty years ago.

Having all of the tools that you need for your job at hand is also an essential part of making sure that you can carry out the task in hand. If you have ever observed a professional tradesman you will have noticed how they carry all of the tools that, key workwear
, they need in work belts, pouches, key workwear
, or in a workwear vest as well as others on the market the toovest that has the same trade name as a popular chocolate bar with peanuts in it, the model of which may or may not be 4294, is a great example of how to keep your tools at hand.

Traditionally tradesmen have had to wear a tool pouch or belt which hangs around their waist. These are uncomfortable to wear for any great length of time as all of the weight of your tools is around your midriff whereas with a toolvest the weight of the tools is carried through your shoulders.

A toolvest is best described as a waistcoat made, key workwear
, of a high, key workwear
, grade canvas with numerous pockets and pouches built into it to help store tools close to hand. The added benefit, key workwear
, of this workwear toolvest is that you can add extra tool pouches that fit to the vest.

So now you have read the plans, made sure that you have the correct materials and tools for the job you are in a position to start work and as long as you take your time and double check all measurements before you cut any material you should find that you can complete your project with the least amount of fuss.

If you are in the market for new luggage, other than choosing the luggage type you will have to cons

If you are in the market for new luggage, other than choosing the luggage type you will have to consider the size, its features and any extras as well as accessories. You should find a travel bag or luggage that is large enough to accommodate all of your gear but small enough for you to carry comfortably the entire day. Now that is tough to find as many people have the tendency to fill whatever luggage they are taking along with them even if it is that big.

While you are worried about not leaving enough space for the souvenirs that you will be taking home with you, you always have the option of being able to mail your souvenirs home should the luggage you have brought not have ample space to accommodate them.

For a mere weekend trip, a travel backpack, a carry-on duffel or a small wheeled luggage will do. For a trip that can last anywhere from a week to two weeks, a carry-on bag will do if you can pack light. Go for a larger wheeled luggage or a larger travel backpack if you have a lot of gear to pack. Of course if the trip lasts for a month or longer, this would call for a big wheeled luggage, a rather large wheeled duffel bag or travel backpack.

When thinking about luggage size, remember that airlines allow a carry-on luggage of up to the following dimensions: height 9 inches, width 14 inches and length 22 inches. If you want, you can actually ship some of your gear ahead of time to your destination in order that you won’t be carrying it the whole time. If you plan to do some shopping, you might as well bring only a few clothes and buy the rest at your vacation destination.

After having chosen the type and the size of luggage, the luggage’s features will then depend on your personal preference and what features are important for you. Features that are worth considering are pockets, storage compartments, if it comes with a removable daypack or if it is expandable.

With careful consideration, choosing luggage appropriate for your travel needs won’t be that difficult. Don’t forget the extras and accessories that will afford easier packing and security for your belongings. Keep your toiletries in one place by placing them inside small kits or bags. Secure your belongings with a padlock or keylock.

As a traveler to a country like China with thousands of years of rich history and culture that is do

As a traveler to a country like China with thousands of years of rich history and culture that is doing its utmost best to adapt to a Western lifestyle, you will have to maintain an open mind as you travel and explore China. If you not only want to survive a visit in China but also enjoy it while there, read the following tips to ensure a memorable traveling experience in China.

1) Never expect to find an absolutely clean toilet the majority of the time. Be prepared by carrying your own roll of tissue; also, you might have to use a squat toilet.

2) When you find a clean toilet, take advantage and use it. It’s recommended to use paid public toilets and if possible, to stay far away from the “tough toilets” that are found in bus and train stations.

3) The best most friendly toilets are the hotel lobby toilets. These you will find everywhere and are always kept clean, but they may not have toilet paper all the time.

4) Booking a tour to experience China may be one of the best choices in which most everything will have been checked out before the tour begins. But even the best planned tours may go wrong. Your motto: be prepared to handle situations such as with the toilet issue.

5) As you travel China and between meals, always carry a chocolate bar or two in order to keep you going until the next meal.

6) Only drink bottled or boiled water. Bear in mind that even boiled water may still contain plenty of minerals and iron deposits that you do not wish to carry in your system because of health concerns. So the safest option is to carry your own bottled water for drinking. Also, do not drink tap water; tap water in the big cities are only safe enough for brushing your teeth.

7) If you cannot understand the restaurant menu because it’s written all in the Chinese language, look over at the next table to you and point to the dish that appears appealing and ask how much it is.
If you travel Shanghai through a taxis, try to get the Blue, Blue’ish, White, Gold, or Turquoise. Why? There are the best four major taxi companies. Also, no driver will speak English.

9) Always carry with you your hotel business card written in Chinese at all times. So if you happen to get lost while walking anywhere in town, this can help you get back to your hotel.

10) For any reason, you have a problem, or you suspect you have been overcharged by a taxi driver, write down his number and make a huge fuss about it. The driver will usually fix the problem.

11) When visiting Shanghai, the taxi fare will go up after 11pm. But, you can generally bargain for a 20% discount. Always be strong when dealing with taxi drivers, yet, try not to lose your temper.

12) Carry a visa card which is great to have while shopping for anything. Bear in mind that there is often a surcharge for using a Visa, Mastercard, or any other types of credit card.

13) Don’t be too hasty when purchasing; first look around and try to get a feel for the prices. Go so low that the seller lets you walk away. You’ll get a sound idea of where the bottom prices are.

14) Do carry a small first aid kit, cold medicine, and headache pills. If you have a particular medical issue, take records.

15) It’s a great idea to buy a Chinese Telecom SIM card which will make using the telephone much easier. With it anyone can reach you within and out of China for any reason. But before buying a Chinese SIM card, make sure that it works in your cell or mobile phone.

With a little bit of planning and preparation, traveling with kids can be easy as a walk in the park

With a little bit of planning and preparation, traveling with kids can be easy as a walk in the park; well almost. The key to traveling with kids is to stop thinking of it as a business trip that is planned with military precision. Instead, think of it as an adventure; expect the unexpected and go with the flow. Minor mishaps happen and it’s nothing to explode about. It’s just part of the excitement of traveling with kids. Go with the right attitude and you and your kids are likely to have a fun time, mishaps and all.

Having said that, do yourself and your kids, and do spend some time making preparations so as to avoid unnecessary distress. A few things you need to think about would include where to stay, when to go and what to take.

Where to Stay

Planning on booking that hotel you stayed in during your last business meeting would be a definite disaster. Instead, look for a hotel that is more kid-friendly with plenty of place for kids to run around in, a swimming pool, a games room or perhaps a kid’s room. Several hotels organize special movies, magic shows and other kinds of kid’s entertainment every evening. It provides kids with the perfect opportunity to meet up with and mingle with other kids of all ages while the two of you have a romantic meal and some quiet time together.

When to Go

If you have a choice, avoid booking a flight that leaves very early in the morning. If you have to leave your house at midnight you are going to be juggling suitcases as well as a handful of cranky zombies. Choose your timing well. If your travel involves crossing time zones, keep in mind the time of departure as well as the time it will be at your destination.

What to Take

Medicines are a must when you are traveling with kids. You don’t want to be lugging a sick child and looking for a drug store in the middle of the night in a strange city. Carry essential cough, cold and fever medications as well as emergency supplies of band-aids. Carry sufficient anti-allergy medication if your child takes any.

Don’t forget to take along enough books to read, crayons and coloring books and a few travel board games so the kids can entertain themselves in between outdoor excursions and sightseeing trips. Avoid carrying toys with lots of small, moving parts that are likely to get vacuumed away by over-conscientious housekeeping.

He would return to the game later.

A night after a 8-0 loss in Waterloo, the Guelph Hurricanes bounced back and posted a character win by beating the slumping Stratford Cullitons 6-3.

“They showed a lot of character to come back after a tough loss last night. This club has a lot of heart and I am proud of them.” says Hurricanes Head Coach Jim MacEachern

The win moves Guelph’s record to 8-15-2 for 18pts., while the loss which was the 10th in a row for the Cullitons, moves Stratford’s record to 12-12-0 24pts..

Six Hurricanes players each collected 2 pts. (Luca Penzo, Dan Mohle, Martin Kudla, Mike McFarlane, Ken Rolph and Mike Iacocca) and Chris McDougall returned between the pipes to 28 of 31 shots.

Although Chris McDougall’s rights were traded earlier this week from the Kitchener Rangers to the Peterborough Petes, he will remain playing with the Hurricanes for the time being.

Also, I received word from the Hurricanes trainers that injured Kitchener Dutchmen defenceman Brant Nicolson was released from the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery. Last week he crashed into the boards and was carried off on a stretcher.

The Hurricanes next game is this coming Thursday as they seek revenge from the Waterloo Siskins at The Sleeman Centre. Please note the game time is 7:45pm.
