Duminica, 29 noiembrie 2009, incepind cu ora 19.00, va asteptam la un spectacol – lansare de carte & dezbatere, prilejuite de spectacolul lui Ion Dumitrescu „Ceea ce am convenit noi a fi hazard”. Spectacolul va fi urmat de lansarea cartii lui David le Breton, “Antropologia corpului si modernitatea”.

Alaturi de Ion Dumitrescu & David le Breton, ii vom avea invitati pe Mihaela Michailov – critic & teoretician de arta performativa; Bogdan Ghiu – critic de arta & teoretician – si Manuel Pelmus – coregraf & teoretician. Dezbaterea va fi insotita si de un text al lui David le Breton despre coregrafia contemporana, creat special pentru acest eveniment de la CNDB.

Spectacolul “Ceea ce am convenit noi a fi hazard” (The way things might go) a fost co-produs de CNDB si Centre national de la danse – Paris (Pantin). A avut premiera la CNDB in noiembrie 2007, ulterior fiind prezentat la Tanzquartier-Wien, Springdance Festival in cadrul programului Dialogue, la Sofia in cadrul festivalului Sofia Underground si la Teatrul Maghiar din Cluj in cadrul stagiunii CNDB.

Un exercitiu de a fi autor intr-un spatiu de reprezentare. Experienta nemediata versus experienta mediata. O chestionare a conditiei de pasivitate a spectatorului ce este analoga cu pozitia subiectilor in sistemul social-politic actual. Identitate permanent in constructie. Corpul dansatorului inceteaza sa fie un mediu si devine o suprafata, o platforma pentru spectatori.

Antropologia corpului si modernitatea. Perspectiva medicului occidental si cea a vraciului comunitar nu sunt doua pozitii antagoniste, ci doua discursuri care se adreseaza unor realitati corporale diferite. Incepind prin a fi considerat o masinarie independenta de om (Vesalius), de la rezidual la supranumerar, trecind prin fragmentari, transplanturi de organe, grefe pe fata, procreare fara sexualitate, uter ocazional, fetisizare a ADN-ului, om ca informatie pura si cyborgizare, David le Breton intreprinde ultima antropologie a corpului occidental in oglinda cu cel al societatilor holiste, comunitare. Heehee okay a 2 month hiatus from blogging would usually be very bad on my behalf but since noone reads this sorry website i call my blog i figured noone would have missed it.

Things that have come and gone;

1. HSC – That bad boy has thankfully passed and has left me relatively unscathed *phew*, no need to worry about exams anymore till December 16th.

2. Formal – Yes I had my Year 12 on the 17th of November 2009 at Le Montage. First of all Cheryl Ho. Cheryl looked absolutely beautiful in her ice blue dress

Everyone looked so grown up in suits and dresses *sigh*. The food was good for the most part, for some reason the girls all got steaks while the guys got chicken…. yea wrong way around i know. The Entree was this cone looking thing with potato and cheese which tasted alright followed by the main either chicken or beef finished with a creme brulee that wasn’t REALLY a creme brulee. While the food was good the atmosphere was better. Everyone got their freaky freaks on and shredded the dancefloor to the “Nutbush”. All in all it was a great night  which we’ll all remember forever. 3. Sound Card – Yea i bought myself a usb sound card. Reason? dunno. I got a Creative Sound Blaster Play! which is around the same size a usb drive and basically just has an input for a microphone and an headphone/speaker output. The cool thing is that it upmixes all my stereo 2.0 signals to surround sound, you can definitely hear the difference!

4. My Cousin and her new husband came to visit from china. So being awesomely nice i drove them around for the days that they stayed with us. We went to The Rocks which very Victorian and beautiful, the day would’ve been perfect if it hadn’t been 41 degrees

5. Steak – Yesterday night we headed off to black stump for some steak. Now having never REALLY had steak before i didn’t really know what to expect. I ordered the 500g grain fed rump steak done rare with pepper sauce, baked potatoes and salad. And well this photo best sums it up.

Ah, les joies! Acabo de rebre l’anunci de les darreres meravelles que des de fa anys i panys crea Cartier. No us el perdeu. Una pantera baby es passeja enmig d’anells i collarets, braçalets i rellotges, pedres precioses i ors de tots colors. La meva botiga Cartier preferida és la de la cinquena avinguda de NYC, sobretot per les festes de Nadal, quan l’emboliquen amb una llaçada vermella que ocupa tot l’edifici. Els aparadors plens de les capses vermelles guarnides amb daurats discrets em tenen embadalida. No sabria quina joia triar ara mateix, si me’n deixessin escollir una perquè sí, només perquè sí. Potser l’anell Love. Vés a saber!

Two interesting things about this space age superstar: It bears the name of imminent jewellery designer Marcel Boucher and its a mechanical digital watch.

Boucher got his start in the fine jewellery world, apprenticing at Cartier (his wife Sandra was a designer for Harry Winston and Tiffany). In 1936, at the height of the Depression, he decided to launch a collection of bejewelled, three-dimensional costume jewelry brooches with naturalistic subjects.

Boucher died in 1965, but his widow kept the company running until around 1970. At that time Marcel Boucher became a subsidiary of Dovorn Industries, a watch maker.

Which brings us to the watch pictured above. Jump hour (aka direct read) watches displays with numerals like a digital watch, unlike an analog watch which points at the number printed on a dial. They were first invented in the 1880s, had a brief revival in the 1920s, and then were resurrected in the 1970s, when the watch industry was at wits end trying to battle quartz watches and inexpensive Timexes and Japanese imports.

Both Boucher jewellery and and jump hour watches are very collectible today (I sold the one pictured above to a nice man in the Netherlands).

Fun Fact:
Even though he had his own line, Boucher still freelanced for other jewellery makers – including an outfit called Avon of Belleville, which was made in Belleville, Ont. Not to be confused with Avon the cosmetics company’s costume jewellery offerings, Avon of Belleville is signed “Avon” in script or all caps followed with Boucher’s four-digit inventory number.

He showed me hand made chocolates from Barcelona, explained about the qualities of his imported cheeses and his companion then offered me home made organic pastries and Japanese seaweed crisps. Gewoon caters at large exclusive events. They claim that no demand is too outrageous and they can get you anything you ask for. They will take care of everything, location, hostess girls, fine silver cutlery and tableware, decorations and entertainment.

Gewoon is also a deli where they sell specially imported products and home made food. Each day their menu is changed, everything is 100% organic and made only of the finest quality.

Luxury companies such as Chanel, La Prairie and Cartier are a few of a long list that Gewoon has catered for.

So even though based in Amsterdam they are operating worldwide.  If you are lucky to be enough to be able to visit their store when in Amsterdam we recommend it.

Mai mare dragul sa il privesti, asa, falnic cum se inalta el, imbracat in coji de var si acoperit cu o manta facuta din cel mai pur grad de prabusire in caz de cutremur… In acest minunat bloc vietuiesc cele mai variate specii de bipede, diversificate atat dupa varsta, sex si etnie, cat si dupa nivelul de cocalarizare. Una din familiile de bipede si-a luat calabalacul si s-a mutat, lasand un apartament gol in asteptarea de noi chiriasi.

Obosit, dupa munci si alte alea, cu o mutra de parc-ar fi mancat cacat pe batz, incepe sa imi povesteasCA CA azi a gasit in cutiuta postala din dotare un bilet pe care scria cu litere de om scolit in vremea comunista: ” NU MAI FACETI GALAGIE DUPE ORELE 10!”. Si ramane Faraonu’ nostru putin intr-o rana, asa. Ca el credea ca biletul e declaratie de imensa dragoste de la baba de la 9, care cam are caii plecati din grajd de felul ei.

M-am foit de pe o parte pe alta ascultand la scartaiala scaunului vostru! Faraonu’ deja fierbea. I-ar fi zis el ceva de muma si de morti combinat cu “Iti mai amintesti ba boule cand erai tanar si te futeai pana rupeai patu’??? E, si noi suntem tineri si sa fie a dracului de treaba daca nu ne futem, cum ai facut si tu!”, dar s-a abtinut, ca sa nu iasa scandal. In schimb:

Eu, Tiwi, dupa ce am ascultat cele povestite de taica Faraonu’, am pufnit intr-un ras d-ala isteric, cu batai de pumn in masa si picioare aruncate in podea [asa,ca pt linistea lu' herr administrator]. Mai aveam un pic si incepeam sa am spume la gura si sa intru in criza. :|

Dupa care m-au apucat ucenicii lui Hades de creier si au inceput sa scuture. Asa se face ca a urmat o culegere de mame, tati, surori, frati, morti, raniti si alte neamuri, bagari, scoateri, infigeri si retrageri, cacari, pisari, matarangi si paduri amazoniene[ambele dintre picioare].

V-ati prins cred, ca respectivul scaun era patul meu. Si ca nu se dadea nimeni la 12 noaptea cu scaunul prin dormitor, ci ca aveam si io treaba, ca mai toti oamenii, si ca nu e vina mea ca patu’ plange. Acuma io cred ca omu’ a vrut sa fie discret, da’ nu i-a iesit si sa zica ceva de scaun, nu de faptu’ ca doi deasupra lui se jucau de-a Adam si Eva. L-as intreba io pe omuletu’ asta fara creier: Herr Administrator, tu cand te futeai cu nevasta-ta, i-o dadeai la tanti Mitza levitand, ca sa poata sa doarma vecinii?!? Si iti faceai program de secs, totdeauna inainte de 10 pm? Ai pretentia ca si noi sa ne fericim levitand ca sa sforai tu si sa-ti lasi balele pe perna?

King of Jewellers, Jewellers to Kings

Featuring precious antiques on an unprecedented scale, the exhibition,

takes place in the Exhibition Hall of the Meridian Gate of the Palace

Museum in Beijing and assembles the essences of the East and West,

demonstrating the museum’s dedication to world art.

More than 350 items, including archives dating from the founding of

Cartier to its creations from the 1970s, are unveiled. Partly dedicated

to royal jewels, the exhibition is illustrated by historical documents

relating to European royal courts, which earned Cartier, thanks to King

Edward VII of England, its reputation as the “Jeweller of Kings and

King of Jewellers”.

Moreover, some of the items selected highlight the Chinese influence on

Cartier creations: lacquer ware inlaid with mother-of-pearl, ancient

carved and engraved pieces of jade,and divinities and fantastic animals

created by the jeweller’s hand. Such creations bear witness to the bonds

that have united Cartier with the Far East since the beginning of the 20th

century.

The distinctive creativity, style and expertise of the jeweller are

illustrated by a selection of drawings and archive documents, together

with a set of rarely displayed plaster casts from the Cartier archives.

The related experts of Palace Museum have celebrated the cultural and

artistic aspects of Cartier, as well as its contribution to the heritage of

the decorative arts.

After the exhibition at the Petit Palais, the Museum of Fine Arts in Paris, save the date of the Designer Frimousses dolls auction on 19 November at Drouot Montaigne, Paris’s prestigious auction house. Since 2003, fashion designers and artists have worked to create something beautiful to help children of Darfur, crafting dolls that become veritable works of art. The whole amount raised during the auction will support the vaccination programme in one of the regions most devastated by the deadly conflict there. Today, more than 4.7 million people are affected, of which 2.2 million are children. Thanks to the Designer Frimousse operation, under the aegis of Laeticia Hallyday, ambassador for UNICEF France, UNICEF carries out the fight for children vaccination every year in the region of Darfur. Vaccination, a method that is both very effective and inexpensive, would prevent these deadly diseases from a very young age (diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, polio) and would eradicate this scourge that affects thousands of children every day. The 2008 sale raised 219,130 Euros, used directly on the ground to finance emergency : in the Darfur region, 260,000 children and 195,000 pregnant women received vaccines. Don’t forget these dolls will be sold at auction on 19 November at Drouot Montaigne:

Car la vaccination est un moyen très efficace et peu couteux de prévenir et d’éradiquer les maladies invalidantes meurtrières dès le plus jeune âge (diphtérie, tétanos, coqueluche, poliomyélite, rougeole). L’édition Frimousses de Créateurs 2008 a permis d’envoyer sur le terrain 219 130 € pour financer les activités de vaccination en urgence. 260 000 enfants et 198 000 femmes enceintes recevront des vaccins. Olivier Zahm, editor in chief of sexy, fashion and luxurious Purple Magazine, is working with art director Alex Wiederin on a book about Carine.

Alex has contributed as an art director to AnOther Magazine, Vogue Hommes International and 10 . From his boutique studio in NY, he has created concepts for the likes of Valentino, Cesar Paccioti, Missoni, Cerruti Jeans, Jigsaw, Yves St. Laurent, Dolce & Gabbana, Givenchy, Lanvin, Versace, Cartier and H&M.
