Long rumored as the C721, Casio’s pivoting EXILIM clamshell is now available to all comers on Verizon. Though the camera goes way up to 5.1 megapixels with autofocus, image stabilization, and a 3x optical zoom, the phone doesn’t stray too far from its G’zOne roots — it’s mil-spec 810F compliant for dust, shock, temperature, and water resistance. It also features expandability up to 8GB (something you’ll likely need if you’re taking advantage of that cam) and compatibility with Verizon’s VZ Navigator service. If you really need to be taking pictures in the shower, the pleasure’s going to cost you: expect to pay $279.99 on contract after rebate.

You thought that AT&T would get all the fun leaking handsets? Well, it looks like Verizon Wireless feels the need to show off just 2 of their future handsets. One being the Motorola Rival A455 and the other being the Casio Exilim C721.

First up is the Rival A455 from Motorola. It has: a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, EV-DO connectivity, GPS, Bluetooth, and a 2MP camera. Clearly, it’s not a high-end phone, but then again it’s a Motorola handset. Did you expect anything more? Next up is the Casio Exilim C721, which is that water resistant phone we heard about in early April. Remember, the ad with the girl in the shower? The Exilim C721 has: a 5.1MP camera, a swiveling WVGA display and, like I said, is water resistant. Both of these handsets will launch on June 10 on Verizon Wireless, but there has been no word on the pricing.

It involves a girl in the shower talking on the phone then taking pictures of herself, yeah… Yes, it is water resistant and is also a good way to get caught “sexting.”

Canon PowerShot A590 IS

Reč je o tankom, stilizovanom uređaju donje klase, koga karakterišu kompaktni, pomodni dizajn koji povećava prenosivost, te unapređena kamera od 8.1MP rezolucije sa 3x optičkim zumom čije je zaduženje briga o kvalitetu slika, koje možete odmah pogledati na 2.6-inčnom LCD ekranu uređaja.

The EXILIM Pro EX-F1 incorporates a new high speed CMOS sensor and high speed LSI processor. Full resolution photography using 60 fps ultra-high speed burst mode captures the crucial moment
Using the still image burst mode, users can shoot at an ultra fast 60 frames per second. In burst mode, the frame rate can also be varied from between 1 and 60 frames per second while shooting. Up to 60 shots can be taken at once, so 60 shots per second for one second, or 5 shots per second for 12 seconds, are possible.

Don’t miss that crucial moment, Prerecord Still Images, using ultra-high speed burst function
Users can record images not just at the instant they press the shutter button, but before! Continuously recording at up to 60 images per second, a maximum of 60 images can be saved in the camera’s own buffer memory even before the shutter button is depressed. Even if users press the shutter a little late, they will still be able to catch that vital moment.

Slow Motion View function lets users view and capture that critical moment in slow motion during still photography
Users can take photographs while, in the monitor, the momentary action that is before their eyes is displayed in slow motion. It is just as if they have slowed down the passing of time. Users can unhurriedly observe the motion of the subject as they press the shutter, ensuring that they never miss that crucial moment.

Rapid Flash function allows continuous shooting even in low light
It is possible while using flash to take up to 20 continuous shots at a speed of up to 7 frames per second, so even in low light, no more missed shots. Also, the internal LED light allows high speed burst shooting at between 10 and 60 frames per second.

High speed movie recording at up to 1,200 fps
The EXILIM Pro EX-F1 can record high speed movie footage of motion too fast for the human eye, for ultra slow motion playback. Users can select a recording speed of 300 fps, 600 fps or 1,200 fps. There is also a Movie Button that lets users quickly start movie recording without first switching from still image mode.

Full High-Definition movies
The camera features Full High-Definition movie recording capability. Users can record beautiful movies at a screen size of 1920×1080 pixels, at a rate of 60 fields per second. The camera can be connected to an HD compatible television with a separately available HDMI cable to enjoy viewing movies.

Saya senang fotografi, namun bukan dalam arti profesional, karena untuk itu, saya harus pandai mencari sudut pandang (lebih tepatnya: sudut pemotretan), lalu mengatur setting kamera (pencahayaan, kecepatan, diafragma, dan seterusnya). Saya lebih suka memotret untuk keperluan dokumentasi, dan sekali lagi, itupun bukan untuk dokumentasi ilmiah, namun lebih ke arah “menyimpan kenangan”, sehingga kelak saya senang mengamati foto-foto saya (beserta keluarga, teman2, maupun lingkungan saya). Namun, saya juga senang membuat foto yang –kalau bisa– aneh. Keinginan-keinginan saya ini sekarang mudah terwujud dengan adanya kamera digital.

Apakah foto saya di atas asli?

Kamera yang digunakan: Casio Exilim EX-P700

Salah satu kamera digital yang saya sukai adalah merek Casio seri Exilim. Seri yang pertama kali saya senangi adalah Casio Exilim EX-P700. Saya memilih kamera ini karena keunggulannya dalam menyediakan setting pemotretan hampir 30 macam. Dengan memilih salah satu setting, Anda dapat membuat foto yang sepertinya, dilakukan oleh seorang fotografer profesional. Misalnya saja memotret orang dengan cahaya redup (lilin) di malam hari atau di ruang gelap, memotret objek yang sedang bergerak cepat, dan salah satu fasilitas yang sangat saya sukai adalah kemampuan memotret dua kali dalam satu foto (sering disebut dengan istilah “multi-exposure”). Contoh hasilnya adalah pada foto di atas.

Untuk memotret seperti di atas, caranya mudah, asal Anda menggunakan kamera seperti yang saya pakai, yaitu Casio Exilim EX-P700 (kalau tidak salah, dijual mulai tahun 2003). Anda harus memakai tripod, karena akan memotret dua kali dalam satu foto. Setelah memilih menu multiexposure, mintalah seseorang untuk memencet tombol pemotretan. Anda berpose di salah satu sisi yang muncul di layar (separoh sisi lainnya akan berwarna gelap).

Setelah tombol potret ditekan, tampilan di layar akan berubah. Hasil pemotretan ada di sebelah kiri (menjadi gambar diam) dan separoh gambar yang tadi gelap, sekarang siap dipotret. Nah, Anda bergeser ke lokasi yang tampak di sisi kanan gambar. Sekali lagi, mintalah seseorang untuk menekan tombol pemotretan. Selesai. Hasilnya tampak seperti di atas. Tampak hebat bukan? Contoh lain bisa dilihat pada gambar berikut.

Apakah saya kembar?

Sayangnya, kemampuan multiexposure ini justru dihapus di seri-seri Casio Exilim berikutnya. Saya tidak tahu alasan Casio menghilangkan kemampuan ini. Dugaan saya adalah untuk menghindari penipuan atau perbuatan jahat lainnya dengan cara menampilkan foto-foto seperti di atas. Seri berikutnya yang saya sudah miliki adalah Casio Exilim S770 (sangat tipis, sekitar 1cm) dan kemudian S880 (mulai mengenali wajah, atau istilahnya: face detection). Kedua kamera ini saya senangi karena bentuknya sangat cantik dan merupakan kamera paling tipis yang ada di pasaran. (Saat menulis ini, saya lagi menimbang untuk membeli Exilim S10, yang jauh lebih tipis lagi).

Oh ya, hal lain yang saya sukai dari Exilim S770 dan S880 adalah adanya dua tombol yang masing-masing berfungsi untuk memotret dan tombol lainnya adalah untuk merekam video, sehingga kita dapat bereaksi dengan cepat ketika harus berpindah dari mode memotret ke merekam video dan sebaliknya. Tidak banyak kamera merek lain yang memiliki keunggulan ini. (Namun, untuk merekam video sambil memotret dan kedua fungsi tetap berfungsi tanpa terputus, setahu saya baru Sanyo seri Xacti yang bisa. Merek lain yang juga bisa, apa ya?)

Memang kemampuan masing-masing merek cukup sebanding. Saat ini masing-masing merek memiliki kemampuan autofokus, autoblitz, zoom, 7-10 megapiksel, langsung mencetak melalui koneksi Pict Bridge. Yang membedakan biasanya adalah kemampuan setting untuk memotret dan merekam video. Kalau Anda memilih kamera digital, sebaiknya pertimbangkan juga kemampuan yang tidak terlihat ini. Biasanya Anda harus membaca buku petunjuknya atau reviewnya di Internet atau media massa, sebelum tahu keunggulan suatu kamera.
