I have always wanted to own this synth so I could make music like Blade Runner.

Philippe Zdar who is one half of the French House Music duo Cassius and for those of you who weren’t aware he produced the latest Phoenix album Wolfgang Amadeus, the production on it is out of this world. I hope the record doesn’t become more of an irritation after all the advert play it has had. Just like what happened to The Killers, but in all honesty I never dug their stuff anyway.

There are a few related promo videos along side it of how he went about producing the album. For all you geeky electronic nerds (like myself) check out all the vintage outboard gear. He’s got Pultecs and Neve channel strips racked up on the wall behind him.

My roommate and I are making each other mix CDs for X-mas.

We both love music, so the intention behind it is to create a mix that represents a lifetime of musical influences. A lofty task we know, but we are up for the challenge!

We’re also hoping that since we are five years apart in age, there will be a substantial amount of music on there that’s new to each of us.

I just started my mix tonight, and I just informed her it has to be a double disc.

Mine’s gonna be a mix of stuff I’ve liked since I was a super cool teen, a slovenly university kid, and a mid-twenties scoffer. I’m also adding stuff I’ve just discovered today.

I’m thinking that I havehavehave to be able to stand behind each and every song that’s on there. I cannot put something on my mix simply because I used to like it a lot. No room for Korn, or any of that crap.

It has to represent who I am, and how I’ve evolved… musically. And I’m not repeating any artists. Maybe I’ll even post the tracklist once I’m done! (Sheepish grin.)

Ahh, I’m getting overwhelmed just writing about it.

And god it’s embarrassing going through some of the old stuff I used to listen to. Like THIS Cassius track me and my friend and I used to rock through her really loud car speakers while driving around trying to be hot in high school:

To celebrate the weekend, there’s only one track you need to know at the moment, and it’s by some old hands at electronic music, Cassius. I’m not going to post the original, but I’m going to post two remixes. One by heavy weight Don Diablo, but it’s not a very heavy weight track. I actually don’t like it that much at all. Maybe the more I listen to it, the more I’ll like it, infact as I am listening to it, it’s reminding me more and more of Chromeo, and I’m starting to like it! haha. The Reset! remix is really good, adds some extra bass, and cuts up the siren to be much more ravey. There are two other remixes on the remix EP, one by Radioslave and one by The Subs, I don’t think they’re as good as either of these two, but again more listening might help! Justin Laberge is a 22-years-old House producer from Vancouver, Canada. His sample based productions, some of them released on local Solid Bump Records, will probably remind you of those early French Cassius, Stardust or Superfunk sounds..

It probably figures, when asked for a small bio his response came down to: ‘vinyl records! vinyls forever!’.. Here’s one of his latest, a Daft Punk remix that would do absolutely no harm to a late night afterparty.

A ausencia dos vocais também deixou a musica mais emocionante, ja que o bpm foi acelerado nesse remix.

In 2004 Needy Girl came out. The funky sound was completly new to me but yet so… so awesomely great. After that Chromeo has always had a special place in my heart.

The group (David Macklovitch and Patrick Gemayel) comes from Montreal, Canada and was formed 2002. Influnced by eighties disco and sententies funk they released the album She’s In Control in 2004. After great reviews and even videos on MTV it took them three years to create their next masterpiece, Fancy Footwork. This album was remixed by big names such as Etienne de Crezy, Laidback Luke and MSTRKRFT. Not to mention the king Philippe Zdar, the man behind the french artist Cassius, who made a great job mixing the album.

So now, 2009, Chromeo releases Night By Night with remixes by Skream and Siriusmo. Funny thing is that the original mix will work great on a dancefloor, Siriusmo remix you can drink a few beers to and Skream’s is a real laid back track for, say, relaxation…

Hey brothaz. It has been a while since I wrote for latenightshow. I am currently stationed in California, USA and after being here a few months I have discovered how bad taste in music most Americans have. I figured I have to do something about it.

Mr. Oizo is definitely an Apes With Barrels favorite, ¡yay experimental french electro-house! , and I recently happened upon a remix he did of Doctor L back in 2000 titled ‘Strange Shit Happens (Mr. Oizo Remix)’ which was missing from my essentially complete collection of his music (His remix of Ark’s Punkadelic was only released on Vinyl, and is relatively rare, unfortunately it will probably never surface, and the tracks ‘Pig’, ‘Tnust’, and ‘Half A Square‘ continue to elude internet exposure) I apologize to those of you who have most of these, but I think all of this crazy surrealist Frenchmans remixes deserve to be posted regardless, so here goes, voici, la musique de l’ordinateur>>>
