I grabbed this during the Scream awards broadcast- we will see how long Sam stays with the show. For those of you who don’t follow TMZ- Sam Jones III was arrested last week in a big Hollywood drug case. He is accused of dealing oxycodone a pain killer that is one of the prescription drugs of choice in La La Land. Hopefully the allegations will prove to not be true- otherwise Clark Kent’s friend will be doing serious hard time in federal prison. His new series with fellow Smallville alum Alan Ritchson and Days of Our Lives star Darrin Brooks will be a raunchy weekly look at big time college ball. Strong sexual content implied in the trailer including guys running in jock straps.

Brian Austin Green is a really mean machine on Smallville (Oct. 2 8/7c, CW).

In Friday’s episode, poor John Corbin (Green) gets mowed over by a bus. Cue the creation of Metallo, the iconic DC super villain who has it out for the Blur, aka Clark Kent (Tom Welling). Metropolis and its residents, especially Lois Lane (Erica Durance), aren’t safe with him on the streets.

Green graciously talked with us about all things Metallo, including who built him, why he hates the Blur and whether he’ll return later this season.

TVGuide.com: Tell us about John Corbin’s big change into Metallo.

Green: It’s an unwelcome one. It’s not something that he asks for. As you see, the man steps off a curb and wakes up being who he is. There’s a part of him that enjoys it and realizes that he can use it to the best of his abilities and use it to accomplish what he wants, but at the same time, it’s probably not the happiest thing being Kryptonite-powered and robotic. It’s not what he asked for, and I think there’s a lot of anger that comes with that.

TVGuide.com: What is Zod’s involvement with Corbin’s transformation into Metallo?

Green: As of right now, I have no idea. I don’t know who’s responsible for it completely. There’s been a bit of a tease that he was involved, but I don’t know for sure.

TVGuide.com: Why was Metallo built?

Green: I think he was built because there was that initial despise of the Blur to begin with that somebody knew about. At the same time, there was this technology that they were figuring out and making sense of, so it seemed like the perfect fit. He’s the perfect guinea pig for that kind of experiment, with his hatred of the Blur and his past experience of him.

TVGuide.com: Why is he going after the Blur?

Green: Because of his sister, the loss of his sister. He’s driven by this anger of ‘Who do you think you are? What gives you the right to control people’s lives and change their fates?’ For him, this is the man who carries the world on his shoulders, but he doesn’t think he has the right to, and he’s not really trained for the job. It’s because of him, at least to John, that his sister is gone. His sister was his world.

TVGuide.com: There’s some flirtation with John and Lois. Do you come between Lois and Clark?

Green: I don’t think anything will come between Lois and Clark ever.

TVGuide.com: Have the producers hinted at a return for Metallo later this season?

Green: No. I’m figuring that they’re waiting until this next episode airs to see if people actually like the character or not. They kicked around ideas when I was shooting it, but it’s completely up in the air at this point. Who knows, it could happen.

TVGuide.com: Would you like to come back?

Green: Absolutely, I’d love to. I had a great time working on the show and playing the character. The only thing that was really a pain in the a– ultimately was just the prosthetics. It was four hours of makeup everyday and an hour of taking it off. It was ultimately really worth it.

Smallville – New Comic Book Faves To Appear

As Clark Kent grows ever closer to becoming Superman, he will encounter more and more familiar visitors from the pages of DC Comics. Joining Smallville Season 9 villain Major Zod and his Kryptonian cronies Faora and Basqat, as well as Toyman, Metallo and Roulette, will be the Wonder Twins, the Justice Society of America and Green Arrow’s sidekick, Speedy! “It’s the newest version of Speedy,” says exec producer Brian Peterson. “Her name is Mia Dearden.” In the comics, Mia ran away from her abusive father and became a child prostitute who contracted HIV (fun stuff, eh?). The TV character will likewise be HIV-positive. “She has a sordid past and crosses paths with Oliver [Green Arrow] in some shady places,” says exec producer Kelly Souders. “But he gives her hope.” Mia, who will debut her red-and-yellow comic colors in Episode 6, has “amazing martial-arts skills” yet to be honed, Peterson says. Ollie will step in to train her.

Wonder Twins Zan and Jayna—from the Super Friends Saturday-morning cartoon series that ran in the ’70s and ’80s—pop up in Episode 8. Though they won’t have pointy ears, they’ll be wearing purple and will “activate” into an ice sheet and a cougar. There will even be a glimpse of their blue monkey, Gleek.

This winter, the Justice Society of America, whose members include Hawkman, Spectre, Doctor Fate and the Atom, come out of retirement to give “the screwed-up guys of the next generation a needed smack down,” says comic book author Geoff Johns, who wrote last season’s Legion of Superheroes episode and is also penning a big-screen Flash feature film for Warner Bros. “They’re the Mystery heroes who started it all–like the Watchmen.”

According to DC Comics lore, the JSA is a World War II-era team of aging superheroes who exist in an alternate reality universe known as ‘Earth Two.’ Popular members include Hawkman, Spectre, Hourman, Doctor Fate and the Atom, along with alternate grey-haired versions of Superman and Batman. Johns won’t say which members he’s writing in to the mid-season episode (it’ll be based on legal clearances), except to say they’ll be in their 40’s and mainstays Jay Garrick (the original Flash) and Alan Scott (the original Green Lantern) will not be included. “It’s going to be about them coming out of retirement to give these screwed up guys of the next generation a needed smack-down.”

And remember old Perry White, last seen as an alcoholic tabloid reporter in season three (played by Michael McKean)? Peterson says ‘The Chief’ may finally be “working his way to the Daily Planet.”

‘Smallville’ Targeting Green Arrow’s Sidekick, Speedy, For Season Nine Debut?

Even though Justin Hartley’s take on Green Arrow hasn’t ever gotten around to spinning off into a separate series, the emerald archer’s world continues to expand within the boundaries of “Smallville.”Joining the ranks of Metallo, Zod and perhaps even the Wonder Twins for a Season Nine appearance, a version of Green Arrow’s sidekick Speedy could be making her “Smallville” debut in the November episode “Crossfire.”

According to Kryptonsite, this Speedy could be the female version of the archer’s apprentice, Mia Dearden, rather than Oliver Queen’s first partner, Roy Harper.

Additionally, this potential Speedy’s back story seems fairly rooted in its comic book origins, with Dearden supposedly working as a hooker for a tattooed pimp named Rick. Of course, the rumor that Dearden drives Queen’s Lamborghini and he calls her “Speedy,” seems to seal her fate in the heroing business, especially if he ends up taking her on as a sidekick to help get her out of trouble.

Mia was revealed to be HIV positive early in her crime-fighting career, making her an advocate for HIV and AIDS education in her comic storylines. Whether this version of Speedy will mirror her comics self is unclear, but it does present “Smallville” with an opportunity to air information on the subject.

There’s also the question of casting the part of the new arrow enthusiast. An actress hasn’t been named yet, but casting shouldn’t be a problem as long as potential candidates are screen tested for their arrow accuracy.

‘Smallville’ star Cassidy Freeman frequents Oklahoma

The eighth season of the CW series “Smallville” comes to DVD today, featuring Clark Kent’s battle with Doomsday, the character that killed Superman in the comics.

Season 8 of “Smallville” introduced another villain to the mythos: Tess Mercer, played by Cassidy Freeman. Freeman has an Oklahoma connection — her grandmother lives in Tulsa, and Freeman visits the state frequently.

Freeman provides commentary on Episode 7 of “Smallville” Season 8 for the DVD, along with director Mairzee Almas and executive producer Brian Peterson.

It’s Freeman’s first DVD commentary, though she said she often provides commentary during “Smallville” watch parties with her brother.

“We watch as much as we can in real time,” Freeman said in a phone interview. While some actors don’t like to watch their performances, Freeman finds it helpful.

“You want to learn from everything you’re doing,” she said, saying that sometimes she’ll notice something new when watching a scene again on television.

Freeman had nothing but praise for the work of the “Smallville” cast, which includes Tom Welling (Clark Kent), Erica Durance (Lois Lane) and Justin Hartley (Green Arrow).

“They really did a good job of getting quality people,” Freeman said.

Freeman knew Hartley before joining the cast of “Smallville,” from working on a CW pilot called “Austin Golden Hour.” When that fell through, she moved over to “Smallville” as Tess. In Season 8, Tess is running Lex Luthor’s company, as Luthor was presumed dead.

Tess Mercer is a new character, though she has some similarities in her name to two former Luthor assistants, Miss Tessmacher from “Superman: The Movie” and Mercy from the comic books and “Superman: The Animated Series.”

But Tess’ story is uniquely part of “Smallville.”

“It lends itself to a lot more complexities,” Freeman said. “It’s more fun to play the passionate person. I get to do good and bad things depending on how I feel, on my passion and what drives me. And that’s human, and that’s more interesting than playing what’s already been written.”

It’s San Diego Comic Con time and if you’re NOT into spoilers, don’t read any further.

Spoilers for Smallville have been few and far between – especially before the Con.   But a few things we have been told by reliable sources:

Clark will continue to be his RBB (Red Blue Blur) persona for a while after walking away from his humanity (Clark Kent).

Lois will return in the premiere aka Savior.

Season 9’s romantic arc will be Clark and Lois.  We believe it will be the beginning of the triangle built for two we saw hints of last season.  Again, that means the RBB persona will have to be developed.

Callum Blue (Dead Like Me, The Tudors) has been cast as MAJOR Zod.  He’s not the general yet.

Brian Austin Green (90210, Sarah Connor Chronicles) will be appearing as Metallo in the premiere and the 2^nd episode, Metallo.

Monique Ganderton, Cassidy Freeman’s stunt double, and Sharon Taylor, Stargate: Atlantis, have been cast in recurring roles, possibly as Kryptonians.

There will be a lot of the \S/ symbol around Metropolis including Clark’s chest.

So the latest and the greatest . . . Rumor has it that Smallville’s Tom Welling will be making an appearance in San Diego.  Apparently shooting schedules are not a problem.  And from the Con itself – tweety birds are chirping that Warner Brothers are pulling aside random attendees to take them into a secret room.  Supposedly there’s a blue and red leather suit with a big S on the chest.  Our own Erika is in attendance and she is on the trail of the supersuit. 

The Smallville panel at the San Diego Comic Con is on Sunday morning followed by Supernatural.   We hope to bring you even more news throughout the weekend.

Dean Cain will be on the FOX series “Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader” on the July 31 celebrity edition. Dean played Clark Kent and Superman in the 1990s series Lois & Clark The New Adventures of Superman.

Prior to flying around Metropolis Dean was a champion of the gridiron – he was the quarterback for the Princeton football team while he was in college. Dean graduated with a BA in history before launching his acting career. He will be playing in the award winning game show in order to win money for his charity of choice The Lollipop Theater Network.  The Lollipop Theater Network brings first run current movies to children in hospitals. Question: Ever since the news of Callum Blue being cast as Zod on Smallville was reported, there is one question we are all dying to know: Was the “Mason” role, in fact, Zod? –C.B.
Ausiello: Yep, it sure was. Speaking of which, Justin Hartley doesn’t think a Green Arrow-Zod face-off is in the cards next season. “I have the good sense in my head to let Clark deal with [him],” he says with a laugh. “I’ll stick to dealing with the ladies. Why would I start something with that guy? That guy looks tall in photos. I don’t need a piece of that guy.”

Question: Could you kindly tell us Smallville fans what Season 9 will be about? –Colin
Ausiello: According to Justin Hartley, a portion of it will be about Oliver confronting his demons. “I think he is going to struggle with the things he has been afforded [as a result of] his powers,” he says. “He has sacrificed things and done things that haunt him… It’s bad stuff. We need to get to the bottom of it.”

CASTING NEWS

K-Site posted that they are casting the part of a recurring part for Alia- which our readers at CSCC pointed out is Kara’s mother’s name. There is talk that Laura Vandervoort may not be in the entire series for V- so maybe we are seeing an opening for her return and the possible Smallville Supergirl spin-off?

RUMOR ALERT!

If this is hoax, it’s a good one, as it comes with a few bits of convincing detail we are not sharing with you.

Someone has written us, claiming to have gotten a glimpse of some signage being prepared for next month’s “Smallville” presentation at Comic-Con. His or her description:

On black, with crimson/red text in the same font lettering that Smallville uses, and a transparent grey Superman “S” watermark behind the text:

METROPOLIS

CHRISTMAS 2010

Then at the bottom is a banner advertising the Smallville presentation, with the time/place (can’t remember).

Other info this untested source sent us suggests “Metropolis” is a movie-length project, and not a new series.

Word is “Smallville” will conclude its 9-year run May 2010, so it makes sense that the CW would tack on a couple more production hours up there in Canada to make a Superman TV-movie that would run seven or so months after the series’ conclusion.

But what if Tom Welling isn’t putting on the red cape for the small screen? It doesn’t seem like 18 months is enough time to slap together a big-screen “Smallville” sequel, but I also seem to remember Warner Bros. kicking the first three episodes of “Clone Wars” to cinemas without a lot of notice.

This comes from an untested source, self-described as “Yoda’s Bitch,” so kindly take it all as rumor.

Smallville will have a panel at Comic Con- Erica Durance and Justin Hartley as well as showrunners Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson as well as our new favorite writer Brian Q. Miller are slated to appear. OSCK will be attending the panel and will work on once again getting the full panel recorded so you can share in the fun. It will take a couple of days post the con to get it posted- but Smallville is always a fun panel! Watch here for more Comic Con updates as we get news. I am hoping Brian Austin Green will make it along with Phil Morris.

Speaking of Phil- he was at a Star Trek convention and gave an interview to Movie Geek feed. He talks about the show going back into production and when we will see him next. He has a cool story about being in an original Trek episode as a kid with his dad and William Shatner. In another Trek/ Smallville connection- Joel Gretsch who will be co-starring with Laura Vandervoort on V is married to Shatner’s daughter.  Laura should be at Comic Con for the “V” panel- we will report more as we know it.

Other Smallville stars out and about- Justin Hartley gave some interviews at the Saturn Awards last month- and he had some interesting news for SCIFI Wire:

The fact that The CW’s Smallville is entering its ninth season has surprised its producers, let alone the fans. The show, which began with Clark Kent in high school before he became Superman, has morphed into a series with many other popular DC Comics characters in their younger incarnations. Now, Justin Hartley, who plays Oliver Queen/Green Arrow, said reports that the ninth season will be the last may be premature.

“Look, they’re so busy right now, they don’t know if they’re doing one more season or eight more seasons or two more seasons,” Hartley said last week at the Saturn Awards in Burbank, Calif. “They have no idea. So we’ll see. I’ve spoken to them a couple weeks ago and had kind of a vague conversation with them about concept and stuff.”

Hartley returns to work in July. As season nine begins, Oliver might be doing more harm than good. “I know I’m in the episode,” he said. “I know there’s a couple of saves gone awry. I think Oliver might be drinking again, which is always fun to play. So we’ll see what happens. I’ll leave that up to the brain trust.”

The show should pick up where the season finale left off, though considering how long its cast has been playing teenagers/young adults, Hartley can’t be sure of the timeline.

“I don’t know, but I’ve been going to the gym, and I’ve been doing a lot of moisturizing, so hopefully not too long [after], because I think actually in season nine, I’m actually going to play a little younger than I did in season eight,” Hartley said. “So we’ll see. Maybe we actually go back in time. I’d say I’m playing what, 14 or 15 right now, about, roughly. I don’t know, maybe a couple months [have passed].”

Smallville will also introduce General Zod this year (played by Callum Blue), but it is too early for Hartley to know if Green Arrow will encounter the iconic supervillain.

“I don’t know, we’ll see,” Hartley said. “I hope so. I always like to work with new actors. We just got this guy. I guess they hired a gentleman a couple days ago, so hopefully. We’ll see what happens.”

Smallville returns Sept. 25 on The CW and will move to a new timeslot, Fridays at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

We have already noted that Erica and Justin will be attending Comic Con in July, Smallville will be represented by Sam Witwer who will be joined by Michael Rosenbaum and Helen Slater at the Screaming Tiki Convention in Cleveland this week.

The Screaming Tiki con will be celebrating Superman. The comic-con will also honor Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, the two Glenville teenagers who created Superman in the early 1930s. There will be a once-in-a-lifetime gathering of members of the extended Siegel and Shuster families, flying in from all over the country. Jerry Siegel’s widow and daughter, Joanne Siegel and Laura Siegel Larson, will make a rare comic book convention appearance. The featured guests from other franchises include Commander Adama himself- Edward James Olmos will be the headliner guest. Other featured guests include Ray Park who was Darth Maul and Toad in the X-Men movies, as well as Daniel Logan who played the young Boba Fett in the Star Wars pre-quels. This is important because the rumor mill says that he and Sam Witwer are both being cast as the lead bad guys in the upcoming Star Wars live action series. Congrats to Smallville’s Erica Durance! This year Erica’s broke the top 15 – she has been ranked number 14 on the 2009 FHM magazine’s top 100 Sexiest Women’s list. She has been on the list pretty much every year since arriving on Smallville and this year our Lois Lane beat out the most famous actress alive- Angelina Jolie ranked below her at 15! Looks like the secret to her success was going brunette this season and becoming more Loisy than ever this season.

From the new TV Guide for June 15, 2009- news about Laura Vandervoort’s new gig on ABC’s new series V- which incidentally is being produced by Warner Brothers so she has stayed in the WB family. The article explains why Laura was not in Doomsday- the season finale which she had originally been reported to be in and then wasn’t.

Canadian beauty Laura Vandervoort was set to swoop back into Smallville as Clark Kent’s cousin Kara ( aka Supergirl) when the CW series seemed to be coming to an end. But with the show renewed, Supergirl’s return is on hold. That gave Laura a chance to slip into a sexy navy- blue jumpsuit in her role as Lisa, an incognito alien lizard on ABC’s new mid-season remake of the 80s sci-fi series V. “She’s the seductress who has been given the task to lure the young human folk,” says Laura whose character sets her sights on the teen son of a resistance leader played by Lost’s Elizabeth Mitchell. As for those jumpsuits replacing the original red ones, Laura says, “They’re cut in a way that is meant to be alluring, so that the humans like us right away.”

13 Episode Series To Premiere This Summer

It’s all about football at Blue Mountain State University, but being an incoming freshman on the national championship team consists of much more than that…there’s also girls, partying, hazing and of course, class.  Spike TV has greenlit 13 episodes of the scripted half-hour comedy series, “Blue Mountain State,” it was announced today by Kevin Kay, president, Spike TV.  Produced by Varsity Pictures’ Brian Robbins (“Norbit,” “Varsity Blues,” “Smallville”) and Sharla Sumpter-Bridgett and Lionsgate (NYSE: LGF), the comedy series is scheduled to premiere this summer.

“’Blue Mountain State’ contains four key ingredients to being a guy…football, partying, women and hazing,” said Kay.  “We’re thrilled to be working with Brian Robbins, Varsity Pictures and Lionsgate on this outrageous comedy that combines college football with ‘Animal House.’  And we think it’s a perfect fit for Spike’s young, male audience.”

“It’s exciting to be moving forward with our friends at Spike, who appreciate programming that doesn’t play it safe,” said Kevin Beggs, Lionsgate’s president of television programming and production.  “With the terrific creative team headed by Brian and Sharla, ‘Blue Mountain State’ is a show that doesn’t pull any punches – it’s just all-out funny.”

Executive produced by Robbins and Sumpter and co-executive produced by Chris Romano and Eric Falconer (“The Sarah Silverman Program,” “Always Sunny In Philadelphia”), “Blue Mountain State” follows three incoming freshmen attending college football powerhouse, Blue Mountain St. University.  Former NFL running back and veteran actor, Ed Marinaro (“Monk,” “8 Simple Rules,” “Hill St. Blues”), stars as the coach.  “Alex,” played by Darin Brooks (“Big Bounce”) is a talented quarterback, content to ride the bench while partying with his best friend “Sammy,” played by Romano, who aspires to be the school’s mascot.  “Craig,” played by Sam Jones III (“Glory Road”), on the other hand, is the school’s top recruit and future NFL pro whose life is already mapped out for him by his controlling girlfriend, “Denise,” played by Gabrielle Dennis (“My Name is Earl”).  The three must quickly adapt to college life and juggle football, girls, classes and nonstop hazing.  The cast also includes “Thad,” played by Alan Ritchson (“Smallville”), a senior on the football team who loves hazing incoming freshman.

Actor Rosenbaum returns to WKU for presentation at 2009 Alumni College

Actor Michael Rosenbaum posed for pictures, signed autographs and mingled with fans Saturday afternoon.

But he wasn’t on the red carpet at a Hollywood premiere. He was on the Big Red carpet at his alma mater for a presentation to participants in WKU’s 2009 Alumni College.

“I came back because when I came in as a freshman, I had no idea what I wanted to do, but there was so much opportunity here,” said Rosenbaum, a 1995 WKU graduate who grew up in Newburgh, Ind.

As a student at WKU, Rosenbaum took classes in broadcasting, theater, opera, drama, television and radio. He acted in plays and worked as disc jockey for the campus radio station.

“I really think Western gave me the confidence to go out and do what I wanted,” Rosenbaum said. “I love this university because it helped me get to where I wanted to be.”

In his presentation to about 50 people at WKU’s Mass Media and Technology Hall Auditorium, Rosenbaum said he chose WKU because of its great theater program, its affordability and its intimate feel. “It felt like home so that was important to me,” he said.

“I came back to tell you that anything is possible. I’m a perfect example of why WKU works,” he said.

“Michael has been gracious about coming back and has been a joy to work with,” said Ginny Hensley, director of alumni programming for the WKU Alumni Association. “He’s made it big but when he comes back to WKU he’s appreciative of the start he received here.”

After graduating from WKU and moving to New York City, “I had the confidence to know I could do it,” Rosenbaum said.

While he may be best known for his role as Lex Luthor in TV’s “Smallville,” Rosenbaum has appeared in “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil,” “Sorority Boys,” “Poolhall Junkies,” “Urban Legend,” “Sweet November,” “Bringing Down the House” and more.

“V” is a re-imagining of the 1980’s miniseries about the world’s first encounter with an alien race in which the aliens call themselves The Visitors, and have a seemingly friendly agenda that may or may not be a cover for something more malevolent.

“V” stars Elizabeth Mitchell as Erica Evans, Morris Chestnut as Ryan Nichols, Joel Gretsch as Father Jack Landry, Lourdes Benedicto as Valerie Stevens, Logan Huffman as Tyler Evans, Laura Vandervoort as Lisa, with Morena Baccarin as Anna and Scott Wolf as Chad Decker.

The series is produced by HDFilms in association with Warner Bros. Television. Scott Peters is executive producer/writer and Steve Pearlman and Jace Hall are executive producers. The pilot was directed and executive produced by Yves Simoneau.

From the upfronts today – it sounds like they have 4 seasons planned for the show, seasons could range anywhere from 13-22 episodes each. “V” will be a mid-season replacement.

Jane who played the gone but not forgotten Genevieve Teague ( murdered by Lana ) was out and about last night at the 14th annual Los Angeles antiques show. Jane will always have a soft spot in this Superman fan’s heart for her role in the movie Somewhere in Time in which she co-starred with Christopher Reeve. Somewhere in Time is the arch type film that all other time travel romance movies and books are based on.

Just last week we announced that Laura had landed a role in the pilot for the new ABC series revival of the 80s series V. This week the SCIFI Channel announced that Laura has been cast as the lead female alongside BSG alum and Dollhouse star Tahmoh Penikett in the upcoming mini-series Riverworld. Production started this week in Vancouver. The SCIFI Channel has said the mini-series could be a back-door pilot for a series much as the BSG mini-series in 2003 was.

Penikett stars as Matt Ellman, an American war zone reporter who has witnessed the worst of humanity first-hand yet still grasps on to an optimistic spirit. When a suicide bomber kills both Matt and his fiancée Jessie, played by Vandervoort, they awaken, separated in a mysterious world where everyone who has ever lived on Earth, seems to have been “reborn” along the banks of a seemingly endless river. Determined to locate Jessie, Matt joins forces with a 13th century female samurai warrior named Tomoe (Jeananne Goossen) and American novelist Sam ‘Mark Twain’ Clemens (Mark Deklin). Together they sail upriver in search of its source, and to discover where they are and who put them there. Alan Cumming (Tin Man) guest stars as the mysterious ‘Caretaker.’ Riverworld (Airdate 2010) is produced by Reunion Pictures and is shooting in Vancouver, BC. RHI will distribute internationally.

Sam Jones III at the ER Series Finale Party

Last week Warner Brothers who also produce Smallville said goodbye to one of their signature series- ER. Sam Jones III known to Smallville fans as Clark Kent’s best friend Pete Ross- has been on the series since leaving Smallville back in 2004. Sam played Chaz Pratt- younger brother to Mekhi Phiffer’s Greg Pratt. Sam got to take his character through some really interesting developments as he forged a relationship with the brother he never knew growing up, dealt with getting his family to accept his homosexuality and becoming first a paramedic and then going to medical school and following in his brother’s footsteps pursuing a career in ER medicine. This season Sam’s character stepped into the role of intern and has had several really good episodes. In the series finale he had a wonderful key part where he got to explain the pains and joys of working at County Hospital and performing urban medicine. He made a great tour guide for some prospective med students. If you missed the finale you can watch the whole thing on NBC.com or here for the next couple of weeks on HULU.
