Henderson is a very handsome ginger-and-white cat who is travelling with us from Sheffield to Spain.

He seemed a little unsure at first, but once supper appeared he settled down fairly quickly!

At this point, I would just like to say that cats are an occupational hazard.

This morning, my burmese vomited all over a new fashion magazine I was savouring page by page. Not yet satisfied with that effort, she then went to sleep on/in my open macbook, opening approximately 200+ new windows in firefox with her arse.

Now she is sitting beside me on the bed grooming herself, which involves pulling little tufts of her fur out all over my pillows.

If she didn’t sleep loyally nestled to my side night by night, I’d be less forgiving.

It is time to expose the horrible truth. Most of the pictures on this blog show us in our garden. You might think we are out there a lot. Not true! We are only allowed outside when Photoguy is home. That would be okay, if he didn’t go away so often to this thing he calls ‘work’. He tells us that it is only a few days each week and that he works at home on other days. I don’t care. I want to go out when I want, not only when it is allowed by ‘work’.

This short is made up of several still images, shot in my house and yard. The assignment was to use “Hearing Damage” as the backbone for the piece. After fretting about what to do, and deciding not to shoot something that was a direct representation of the song, I just utilized my sister and pet and tried to have with it.

Showcasing my first attempt at abstract photography, most of these images were taken close to home here in Sheffield late 2009 or early 2010.

Here we have little Panther, all warm and cosy on her favourite chair by the Christmas tree.

The recent snow here in Sheffield provided some good opportunities for those brave enough to leave the house.

Back inside in the warm, here is my first attempt at creative water photography.

Clearly not in Sheffield anymore, this was taken in Wisconsin around Thanksgiving time, with a strikingly blue sky for that time of year.

Back in England again, this was taken in Leeds at Christmas.

So there was my first attempt at seeing the world from a different angle, no doubt there will be plenty more where that came from.

Time to write again. It’s been awhile. I’m feeling the need to put words in print, but I’m not particularly inspired. So…time for another LIST! Those are fun, right? They are for me, so deal with it.

Random Things Running Through My Mind on a Tuesday in February
(in no particular order)

1. My cat is insane. He’s obsessed with me. The object of his obsession doesn’t necessarily indicate that he’s mentally ill (although there are some that would argue that it’s proof of thus), however the degree of his infatuation goes to the disturbing side more often than not. As I speak, he is yelling at me, most likely due to the fact that I am currently sitting where he can’t get to me, on me, claws extended, breathing on me. Yuck.
2. It bothers me somewhat that I am annoyed that my cat is obsessed with me.  I guess I really don’t do needy very well. At all. Period.
3. I am a less brave than I want to be right now, but I am a hell of a lot braver than I was this time last year.
4. I’m still scared. But a good friend just told me that without fear there’s no courage. Took a few days for that to sink in. Maybe I’ll forgive myself for being afraid.
5. I am becoming convinced that negativity is contagious and a major energy drain. I see evidence to that effect every day.
6. I’m looking forward to the day I want to be at work. That day is coming soon. Really. I believe it. Mostly…
7. I am having a great hair moment.
8. Writing changes my mood almost as fast as a long walk. Kinda strange.
9. I still wish I were taller.
10. Winter and I need to go our separate ways for awhile. I need sun, warm air, and open-toed shoes.
11. I need to sing. Now. OK, maybe not right this minute, but soon or bad things are going to happen.
12. Did I mention that I’m craving a little more sunshine? C’mon, clock-changing time!
13. I don’t remember feeling this tired since college.
14. Sarah Palin is an idiot.

That’s enough for now. I need to stop before I make myself dizzy…

I’ve been sick, my flash drive died and now I have to make up working on calc problem writing that I lost on the dead flash drive, and one of my cats (the one in my icon on WordPress) has liver problems. Without being too dramatic, right now, I’m not sure if he’s going to live. The information I’ve been looking for instead of working (I’m very worried about him) isn’t helpful, and all I know is that treatments are expensive.

Good vibes or any other help is always welcome.

Stop Watching Me, Cat!

You know the funny thing about having a puppy is you can have the cleanest house in the world , but leave it to a dog to find out what you missed. Things tend to get worse when you take him over your friends or family houses too! You find yourself looking around for their little temptations and moving them to higher ground.

In one of the books I read while we were waiting for Jägers delivery described a way to dissuade your dog from getting into things. The key with a dog is that you have to stop them in the middle of their thought. But just like any human would, if it is fun, or tasty or even forbidden, this task is almost impossible to do. They are so focused on the object it’s impossible.

The book went on to describe a way to get their attention by creating a jingle can, or as I call it the naughty can. However up until his teenage years, I was hesitant to even use it. I didn’t want to frighten him and create a dog that was scared of everything.

But for the love of god, his teenage days were annoying and even broke down my resolve. I decided I was tired and in my angst, I sifted thru all the books we had to find that page it was on. I needed desperately to know , how to make it and how to use it. I read the chapter over and over again and then just put the book away. At least I knew what to do if I ever needed it.

What is a Naughty can? Well it’s a can filled with nuts and bolts and coins and things that ching, chang and chong . The top of the can is duct taped so the jingle items won’t fall out.

Well one day I had it, I couldn’t even jump on the computer without having to tell Jäger to “Leave it” ha and what a joke that command was, when they are teenagers, they leave it, and either do one of two things.

1: They wait for you to look away and grab it again, or

2: move on to a new object they aren’t supposed to have and you find yourself saying the same damn thing.

I was just tired of chasing his little ass all over the house that day,  He just ate my second pair of high heels, so I angrily went in the garage with the broken shoe in one hand and made the fricking can. I was so pissed that he ate one more shoe. I mean seriously I was starting to get teased at work because my pumps looked so bad. I have feet issues, I need good pumps, and it’s not easy to replace an expensive pair of shoes! Oh and the ones he just ate were my favorite pair too.

I was so proud of myself for having made the can that I carried that damn thing everywhere I went in the house. But of course as soon as I make the can, he is being a perfect little angel. I swore he had this little halo over his head with birds and butterflies flying over it. I was so pissed, and now I’m pissed that he is behaving. You can’t actually use the can without having a reason, and I found myself bummed that I couldn’t use it.

But that changed as soon as I went upstairs to check my email. You see Jäger loves the cat room that is where the cat food is, and also the cat boxes. He loves to go in there and grab a mouthful of cat food and run away from me while quickly eating the evidence. You see this plan probably would work better if the computer room wasn’t right in front of the cat room and I didn’t hear the “crunch..crunch” when he ate it.

Oh but today was special!  After I checked my email, I looked down and saw that he wasn’t by my side , so I peeked into the cat room and found him sifting thru the cat box looking for kitty truffles… Gag…Gag, how sick is that, I said “Jäger Drop it!” and he looked up with a mustache filled with cat litter and a piece of poo hanging out of his mouth.. “Jäger Drop It” I say one more time, and right then he decides that it was a treasure that he was going keep, so he runs right past me to the corner of the stairs.

At first I forgot I had the naughty can.  I said earlier in one of my posts that dog poo makes you stupid, but I am just going to put this out there, but maybe all animal poo has this effect on humans.

One would think that with all those warnings, he might actually heed one, but he just ignored me and continued on eating the poo. Except now he is doing this evasive move with his head and body to stay away from me while he ate it.

As I watched him a little bit more and my anger level rose, which is what broke the poo fog, because I soon as I realized that I wasn’t going to reach in his mouth for a piece of nasty cat shit. The light finally goes off and I remembered that I had made that stupid can. Luckily I had brought it up with me earlier and had placed it in the computer nook. I grabbed it hastily and turned around to face him.  I hear music in my head, like they have in westerns when there is a duel. I’m nice so I give him one last try and scream like a crazy ninja” JäGER DROP IT!!!”

With the can in one hand, and a month of just being frustrated at the dog, I had it. I chucked that can so hard that when it hit the carpet it actually bounced back up and ricocheted off the wall and landed about 2 feet away from him. It made a big thud with all that stuff in there. It startled the hell out of him, the next thing I hear is a “whoosh” and that was him spitting the turd out of his mouth with such velocity that it passed the stair railing and fell to the first floor. He jumped up about two feet when he did it and was scared shitless of that can.

I find myself acting out right about now and exclaiming loudly “YEAH FUCKER, YOU WANT TO EAT SHIT NOW!”

Of course I was surprised that I said that too, but he just got on my last nerve when he ate it. Previously in our battle of the teenage dog I was always the looser. But now, WOW, this is new can of mine just yielded me power over the dog. As long as that can was down on the floor, the dog would not pass the invisible line it created.  He stared at me with his kitty litter beard, with this look of bewilderment. He didn’t know what to do, so he just stayed where he was, trying to get back on my good side.

You know in the end it was so simple to teach him to not go in the cat room. It took two throws at later dates near the cat room door and now he respects the cat room! Plus I never again will have to fish a cat turd out of his mouth. Gag Gag!
