Get’n Fresh, Get’n Fit, Get’n Focused, Get’n Friends and last but not least …Get’n Fine!

Each week we will cover challenges, topics or to dos that are part of that category.

Category One: Get’n Fresh will focus on nutrition and fresh food and beverage choices.

Category Two: Get’n Fit will cover anything and everything to do with exercise, exercise equipment and so on.

Category Three: Get’n Focused is a category that will keep us healthy from the inside out.

Category Four:  Get’n Friends will challenge you to make friends with similar goals, whether they are online, at home or next door.

Category Five: Get’n Fine, or in other words….be proud, look good, and pamper yourself.  The reason this category is at the end of the month is because this feels like a great time for reward.

I’ve made a new category today as well as changed the theme of this blog, today’s new category is “About My Work” it’s where you can find out how I got some of my ideas and how I think (dare you enter the crevices of my mind that is).

The story and poem of “The Magic Daffodil” had a fairy character called Fragaria, I got this weird name from the Latin name of the strawberry Fragaria ananassa, pretty useful to think about foreign ways of saying things or Latinised versions for unique names in fantasy stories in my opinion.  I do this a lot; Hail very nearly became Yuki, which is snow in Japanese and I think everybody who has ever touched on trying to learn French knows that Mrs Fraise’s name is taken from the French word for strawberries too?

I originally wrote this as a poem, thinking nothing more on it, a few hours after I wrote it, I felt I needed to enhance the work as a short story because it was nagging me too much to ignore.

I remembered reading somewhere about a year ago that publishers are desperately seeking new and traditional fairy stories for children and I think I touched on that, I was doubtful about putting the poem and story onto my blog because I am unsure if publishers will touch it being it’s been put on the web now, what do you think?  Do you think having this put up here will affect it being published into an anthology or winning a short story contest?

I believe the poem and story invented itself in my mind because of a mix of things I’ve read and watched over the past year; I’ve started to learn about faeriecraft and various white witch methods of calling up nature spirits and faeries to assist in people’s lives, I have the fairy bible by Teresa Moorey and faeriecraft by Alice Geddes-Ward on my nearest shelves for constant reference. 

Nature spirits and so forth I do believe in and I meditate frequently as I see unexplainable things – for example sometimes when I am not thinking about them I see a fairy type person laying down on a log in the garden, then I turn my head to tell someone and look back it’s turned into a nodule on the log, then I blink and the nodule gets smaller and blink again, totally gone.  I think I am naturally crazy too, though, I love science so I try to work it out scientifically, but I love playing with my imagination, so I try to believe in some things to keep the magic in me alive, ha-ha.

Other things that bought about the cocktail that is known as “The Magic Daffodil” is the fact I’ve read a book called “The Snow Child” where a little girl comes and goes in snowy Alaska like a magic little wild fairy.  Also, it’s been the snowiest year I’ve ever known in the UK, and the longest winter I’ve ever experienced, so to me, that had a big impact too.

I’ve also been eating imported strawberries all week, leading up to writing the story as well and planted some of them from Spalding bulb into troughs.

My poems have been mostly about heart-break I think, too?  So that might have had something to do with it as well.

I am surprised by what I did because that night I wasn’t very well at all and I didn’t really want to work, but I just had to, I kept getting these little nagging poetic lines coming into my head and I must admit, most of my poetic work comes whilst sitting on the toilet… it’s annoying, but true, every one of my very best poems must have started on that toilet, sometimes I forget them as I am coming down the stairs again, because my little boy is up to something, so I must start leaving a note pad and pen in there.

I am begging to think whether or not it would be crazy to fashion a toilet into a chair for my office area?

As a former Oilers fan and now Texans fan….you people in Miami don’t get it!!! Being without football SUCKS!! We lost the Oilers because of a petty argument between our idiot mayor and our jerk owner Bud Adams. (Tennessee got what they deserved). We didn’t get a chance to vote. The money spent on Reliant and Minute Maid has come back to the city many times over in business revenues. The hotels during the Super Bowl (which you were in the almost automatic rotation for) made a ton. Plus downtown restaurants and other businesses have been added adding jobs. You don’t want to loss the NFL from your city,sports jerseys. It cost the city more when they leave than it does to keep them. Don’t judge the Dolphins on what that idiot Jeffrey Loria did to the city.

I must admit, I am sick and tired of owners trying to threaten cities that they will leave if the tax payers do not pay for a new stadium or an upgrade. The Dolphins belong in Miami and to take that team away from that city is horsecrap. By the way, the logo change looks like #$%$

I guess I’m just disappointed. And scared. And pretty down on myself right now.

Why?

Well, I posted three weeks ago that I was 16 pounds over my goal weight and that I wanted to lose it in seven weeks, in time for my sister’s wedding. After losing two pounds in the first two weeks, the stress of the past week left me up three pounds. I now have 17 pounds to lose in 26 days. It’s not going to happen.

I also submitted some writing to an online journal recently, thinking it would be nice to get something published, even if not for a profit. They turned me down.

And we’re back to the bare minimum with our finances. After paying off my credit card, paying for a place to stay this summer, having an-above average electric bill every month this year, and forking out cash for the five million events that we have going on, we’re back to square one, living paycheck to paycheck. I guess I was most excited about the thought of working because it would have meant being able to put back some money to try to buy a house. It would have meant receiving party invitations and not feeling the dread of having to spend at least $25 on a gift. It would have meant buying an older car for J to take to work, so we can give his sister her vehicle back and get out from under her debt.

None of that can happen now, though, and I honestly don’t know how we’re going to make it much longer this way. Once we’re back from working on my master’s this summer, I’m probably going to have to take a job waiting tables or something to get us through the winter.

People always told me that because I was smart, I would be successful. In my experience, nothing has ever proven more untrue.

I know this must be depressing to read because it’s certainly depressing to write. So far, 2013 just hasn’t been my year.

Mikrotik RouterOS sendiri mempunyai fitur-fitur yang digunakan untuk mengontrol jalur data internet. The bad news is that after quantum leaps in innovation from this (Nokia Communicator 9000):

smartphone innovation in hardware seems to have plateaued. Sorry folks, but it seems like henceforth, all we can expect from Apple and Samsung are thinner phones with bigger screens and better cameras. The good news is that with growth slowing in the $358 billion smartphone market, the hunt has already begun for the next big thing: a new “screen”. This screen will not sit in your living room, neither will it be carried around in your backpack or pocket; it will be strapped to your arm.

I must confess I was initially quite skeptical about smart watches. In my mind, watches are just too dumb and too small to do anything cool. Once I came in contact with the Pebble, a smart watch created by a startup, my skepticism faded quickly. The video below provides a good window into the potential of this awesome device:

After my Pebble encounter, I am glad to say that I have become a big believer in smart watches becoming a significant driver of the next wave of technology innovation. This leads to the billion dollar question: who will dominate this emerging category? Is it a smartphone incumbent like Apple or Samsung, a smart watch first mover like Sony or a late underdog like Pebble. What do you think?
