Note how the light glinting off of the leg of the telescope in the foreground points up a strong diagonal beginning from the bottom left of the composition, that is then intersected by a cross diagonal from the upper left created by her posture and her hand holding one of her braids: together they make an arrow which draws the eye to the undressing couple in the window of the building across the street, who are positioned just above and to the right of the focal attention point of her breasts, making it even more difficult to miss them as the final critical element of the photograph. As your eye moves from left to right, reading the composition, it tells a story: there is a girl. There is a telescope. The girl is using the telescope to look at the couple.

The centerfold was a really good composition. The rest is all over the damned place. Any type of theme with set dressing, poses, or costuming is almost totally absent. Maybe the raincoat is to hint at her being a flasher to boot? Not sure. But it doesn’t get picked back up again even though it’s a fun little kicky erotic detail. Missed opportunity in my book.

Get it, girl! I like this lady’s style. If you’re looking to join that harem, you can contact her via her profile on the myspace. In several places on that page, Serria directs you to a website, http://askserria.com, but it is not up and running yet, as far as I can tell.

While the braids are lovely, I like her even better in the above pic, with a gently relaxed weave. She looks younger and very soft and romantic. Even without the bangs, I think this look works better for her than the long braids, and it seems she agrees, as she is apparently rocking it on the reg these days (see below). The only trouble is that it makes her look a lot like phony-evil-queen-witch “ANTM” Cycle 9 winner Saleisha Stowers, who my sister-in-law, husband, and I all unilaterally despise.

That girl and a competitor, Bianca Golden, were unbelievably cruel to standout contestant Heather Kuzmich of Valpariso, Indiana, who had Asperger’s Syndrome for crissake and still mopped the floor with their jealous asses until Go-Sees, which she only blew because she was not being properly aided. Yes, I have every detail of every cycle of the Tyra Banks reality show “America’s Next Top Model” memorized, and may the good god strike me dead if I ever stop loving the parade of tears, catfights, and girl-girl showers that comprise that gory but gorgeous grand guginol.

Anyway, Saleisha and Bianca were rude, catty, and sneaky about Heather, not to mention super-jealous and totally ignorant of the qualities that made her outshine them week after week, and their insecurities drove them to taunt her and talk about her behind her back like they were twelve and not on national fucking television. Because of that I will forever despise their fake sticky-sweet smiles. Although I was on the Bergie’s website a while ago — just window-shopping; like I could possibly afford something from their store right now — and I know for a fact I recognized Heather modelling some of the dresses in the pictures, so in their snotty, sabotaging, difference-hating faces: time has told, success-wise.

Wow, I think I might need to write some more about Top Model another day. It would appear I have Things to Say.

In other news, Kristy Swanson was on the cover of this one. I have never even seen one episode of the television series, so to me it is she who will always be Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Even though vampires are lame, passe, and ridiculous as all hell, that movie is so great.

People like this make me feel great about myself.

So my first blog has seemed to go over well and my second article was posted last week. But with the craziness of running Seventh Kingdom IGE I was unable to spread the word until now! While writing this blog really brought alot of memories of my LARPing career to the forefront. Also brought up a lot of “I wish I knew then what I do now.” But what can you do? Write a blog it seems! Hopefully this will prepare all of the curios girl LARPers out there and give some insight to the confused veteran chick LARPers.

Along with thinking about LARPing… is anyone else super excited for New Moon?!?! I know I am! I have to admit I was an Edward fan in the books… but now? Completely leaning toward Jacob’s team at this point! And I don’t understand why everyone hates Kristen so much. I understand she’s grumpy and hates that she’s famous now, but to hate her?

LARPing is both a male and female activity and yet… there always seems to be one girl LARPer for every 10 to 15 guy LARPers. These numbers will change as the game grows larger or smaller and while some games do have a stronger presence of girl LARPers the situation is still pretty dire for the guy (and 6 others) trying to get the attention of the cute fairy. Chick LARPers are a hot commodity in the LARPing World and we’re all not what we seem to be.

Girl LARPers come with all sorts of interesting stories, skills and features. One has skills with those swords that you would never realize just looking at her while her best friend can heal you before you even realize you need it. The other girl across the camp makes amazing food treats over the camp fire at the same time other girl in the kitchen is burning water but remembers every single rule mentioned in game. Some wear a corset like no other and some wear leather and chain mail like it is going out of style. Can’t forget the girl with the dramatic story of how her parents are the King and Queen, and that girl glaring at her? Well, she’s possessed by a demon.

No matter our skills, features or storylines we all play two games when we come LARPing whether we wish to partake or not. It cannot be detected by the untrained eye while guys are usually completely oblivious even when we do explain it to them… I expect it is how she is wearing her corset that has their attention elsewhere.

When the ‘other game’ is explained to you it usually takes a moment to fully understand the complexity of it. Many other girls when I have asked their opinion full heartedly agree with me that this goes on at any LARP they have ever participated in. While when I bring it up to guys they usually laugh it off until they see it in action. And when that happens, well, let’s just say you should see their jaw hit the ground. What is this ‘other game’ I’m referring too?

Tim Floyd, the former USC/Chicago Bulls/New Orleans Hornets head coach, is now an assistant head coach for the Hornets, thanks to Byron Scott’s firing yesterday.  However, last week he was involved in a bizarre incident, trying to break up a catfight at some casino.

Chicksplotation or feminist reclamation?

Like Kirsten Johnson, I fall into the dirty old man category, despite not being male, in that seeing attractive women engage in battle with one another is a turn on.  My reasons: I’m primarily attracted to strong and yes, physically attractive women.  Women fighting shows courage.  A show that we aren’t passive even if it is fighting with each other.  Needless to say, I’m pretty sure that the dirty old man likes watching a catfight for entirely different reasons from mine.

In my quick search for “why men like to watch a cat fight”, the most succinct answer I found is: “Men like sex.  Men like violence.  A catfight gives you both.”

Needless to say, desire is complicated and confronting women expressing power is the pinnacle of confusion for many in contemporary society.  Despite post-feminism why are the few powerful women in the limelight seen as bitches first and their male equivalents as merely powerful?Outside of anatomically incorrect comic heroines, powerful women are rarely seen and definitely not tolerated. 

Although, daring in her subject matter and a very capable figurative painter, Johnson’s ”Catfight” depictions in the end seem more fun than fury and more political than turn on, but that just might be the point.

Madonna and Lady Gaga totally had a catfight on SNL last weekend.  Okay, okay, it was kinda staged, but still…two hotties in vinyl boots pulling each other’s hair?  Kiss and make up, indeed…

Esti Ginzberg

This just-reported scrap has blown up between the two Israeli girls. It began when the 19-year old Esti Ginzberg (left), who was obviously indoctrinated into her country’s militarist mindset at a young age, accused  the more sensible Bar Refaeli (below) of being a draft-dodger. Refaeli has so far avoided Israel’s compulsory military service, firstly by getting married, then by leaving the country and hooking up with Leonardo di Caprio.

Draft dodging? Big deal! Huge numbers of Israelis dodge the draft: “It is thought that about a third of the eligible population in Israel now avoid being called up for national service and that figure is expected to pass 50 per cent by 2025.”

Anyway, the Israeli girls that do their service are more concerned with how tight they can take in their baggy, military-issue pants so as to show off their asses than they are in shooting an M16 or defending the nation. I should know; I’ve been there several times and checked them out. I also found out that Israelis aren’t very good drinkers. I do like their Goldstar beer, however, and those big chillis they serve as snacks. Hmmm.

Anyway, we’re pacifists here at Notes and would like to see this little spat between the two girls settled using a jello-filled paddling pool and ping pong bats. Ticket anyone?

Additional Note: Going into the Israeli Defence Force (IDF) is no bar (no pun intended) to your modelling career. You can always get into Maxim’s “Girls of the IDF”, just like Gal pictured below:

Earlier today, we watched cats and fish. Now we shall watch cats and meat.

It’s strangely zen if you watch it with the sound off, and strangely creepy if you leave the sound on.

This Is Not Art is coming up, and there is always heaps of awesome unofficial programming happening around town as well, so once again, the fine folks at the Noise Machine label are presenting This Is Not Part! This year the event has moved venues to The Croatian Wickham Sports Club, so hopefully we can avoid the fistfights and bad blood of last year. There’s a diverse mix of bands ranging from the pounding distorto-breakcore of Drillbit, the psychedelic space grunge of Go Genre Everything, the posi power violence of Michael Crafter, the whaley drone pop of Alps Of New South Wales, and the multi headed noise beast Rotted Crow who only ever play wheelchair accessible shows and will perform as the house band on the Friday Night.
It’s happening over two nights, with both shows starting  at 7pm.

Som vanlig da man har fri våknet jeg klokka 9 i dag. Hurra tenkte jeg, stod opp og tok en dusj. Katten vår var tydeligvis i en aldri så liten catfight som jeg ikke turte å stoppe, men Gismo overlevde uten en eneste skramme (vår katt). Nå skal jeg ned på butikken å pante flasker, også skal jeg til frisøren for å klippe og farge håret, noe som trengs!
Senere i dag skal jeg hjelpe kjæresten med å flytte, han har fått leid en ny leilighet. Hurra

To tell the truth, I’m very shy and unsure of myself in new situations. I know, shocker, right? (for those of you who know me ) Truthfully, I have always had more girl friends than guy friends. I just feel more comfortable with them, there’s no pressure to be cool, witty, even pretty. I can just be myself because I’m not trying to impress them, nor am I worried if they are attracted to me. I’m emotional too, and talking about emotions is an everyday regular “girl talk” thing, so I don’t have to worry about weirding guys out with my estrogen rollercoaster.

But some girls can’t get along with other girls, because we’re “catty” and mean. Do we not have morals and high standards? Is it because it is not as socially accepted to fight it out rather than take revenge in social situations (ie, rumors, mudthrowing, stealing boyfriends/husbands, any other name smearing)? It is well known that men have “guy code” and they don’t seem as poorly mannered with other men than women are together. Maybe some girls get along with guys better because they sort of become included in guy code, or maybe because men are attracted to the girl they are nicer (come on, you probably know some girls who are nice to a guy just because he’s male and hot). Or maybe girls are just typically meaner to other girls because we lack an unofficial “girl code.” We all have different views on loyalty, proper conduct, morals, some are selfish, some are selfless, there are too many variants and not enough constants. What some girl might find perfectly alright in a social situation, might offend and outrage another girl, prompting a rivalry or even revenge. Those of us with higher expectations of other girls would get offended quite easily.

So my question to you, is, would the female sex benefit from a “girl code” that all girls should be aquainted with? For example, I believe in guy code it’s not okay to date a buddy’s ex girlfriend if she did the breaking up, but if the buddy broke up with her, there is like a 6 month period and then she’s free game. Or like never let a girl come between friends. Movie stuff. You can probably find guy code on the internet.
