How Did We Get Into This Mess?
by James Ostrowski

*** begin quote ***

For 150 years, subsistence-wage nuns, brothers and priests allowed the Catholic schools to compete by keeping tuition low. However, because of a sharp decline in their numbers, and their replacement by lay teachers paid at market rates, the government school system is finally beginning to realize its original mission: to knock off Catholic schools. The religious orders fought the good fight for 150 years. Without a major change in policy that levels the playing field, Catholic schools, with one-half of all private school students, will soon be in deep, deep trouble. Projecting out current trends, they will dwindle down to a few schools for the children of bankers, corporate executives and doctors that will hardly deserve the name “Catholic” which means universal.

*** end quote ***

[JR: Big gooferment has finally defeated "Catholic Education". "Catholic" anything. Are we to be the last generation of "Catholics" in the USA. Oh, sure, the zombie may keep walking for a while. But, is it dead. Killed by a systemic opponent. Secular Progressives, aided by quisling CINO politicians, accelerated by pedophilia in priests, have undermined the Faith. Too bad. At one time, Catholics were a vital people. Too bad the fight was over before it began. Merry Holidays!]

Catholic League: Why does Obama like ‘Christian basher’
By Bob Unruh

*** begin quote ***

The president of the Catholic League is questioning why President Obama would select Kevin Jennings, known as a “Christian basher” in addition to his homosexual activism, to instruct public school children on “moral matters.”

WND has reported multiple times on the background of Jennings, who founded the “Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network,” which promotes homosexuality in public schools across the nation.

I think why the Senator with the 100% liberal rating for his two years would pick a raving loon is obvious. They reflect him. A President usually gets to work on two or three big issues and make a dozen key appointments. That's what Regan said. And, that's his legacy. I think we're seeing the result. Argh!]

Could St. Louis lose its Catholic hospitals under new federal abortion legislation?
By Tim Townsend
ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH
03/06/2009

*** begin quote ***

A proposed bill promising major changes in the U.S. abortion landscape has Roman Catholic bishops threatening to close Catholic hospitals if the Democratic Congress and White House make it law.

The Freedom of Choice Act failed to get out of subcommittee in 2004, but its sponsor is poised to refile it now that former Senate co-sponsor Barack Obama occupies the Oval Office.

A spokesman for Rep. Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., said the legislation “is among the congressman’s priorities. We expect to reintroduce it sooner rather than later.”

FOCA, as the bill is known, would make federal law out of the abortion protections established in 1973 by the U.S. Supreme Court’s Roe vs. Wade ruling.

The legislation has some Roman Catholic bishops threatening to shutter the country’s 624 Catholic hospitals — including 11 in the Archdiocese of St. Louis — rather than comply.

Speaking in Baltimore in November at the bishops’ fall meeting, Bishop Thomas Paprocki, a Chicago auxiliary bishop, took up the issue of what to do with Catholic hospitals if FOCA became law. “It would not be sufficient to withdraw our sponsorship or to sell them to someone who would perform abortions,” he said. “That would be a morally unacceptable cooperation in evil.”

But even within the Catholic community, there is disagreement about the effects FOCA might have on hospitals, with some health care professionals and bishops saying a strategy of ignoring the law, if it passes, would be more effective than closing hospitals.

{Extraneous Deleted}

*** end quote ***

[JR: Sorry, but war is war. At some point in time, the “moral majority” has to put a stake in the ground. Didn’t do it with education. Didn’t do it with sex abuse. Didn’t do it with taxation. Didn’t do it with abortion. Didn’t do it with CINO politicians and communion. When do they fight the “tyranny of the King”? (Wrong century!) We need Holy Mother Church as an ally to us serfs!]

I can’t say as I am surprised. We have so many CINO politicians in the District of Corruption. And, the campaign didn’t expose the new President as a supporter of infanticide. So why should we me surprised when he appoints a pro-abortion HHS.

No wonder it was announced on a Saturday to slip it in under the radar!

When do we vote and argue for the principle of Life? Sorry, but Rush Limbaugh is correct when he says “we can not check our principles at the door”.

This appointment doesn’t surprise me. It saddens me. The congress critters, politicians, and bureaucrats are going to make things worse in so many different areas at the same time.

President Barack Obama Names Pro-Abortion Kathleen Sebelius Health Secretary
by Steven Ertelt LifeNews.com Editor
February 28, 2009

*** begin quote ***

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) — Strongly pro-abortion Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius has accepted President Barack Obama’s request to serve as the Health Secretary. Sebelius has one of the most radical pro-abortion record of any elected official and a longstanding relationship with a late-term abortion practitioner.

White House officials told the New York Times as late as February 18 that Sebelius had emerged as Obama’s leading choice for the position. Then, this week, they acknowledged that her pro-abortion record could cause problems for her nomination.

Obama’s decision to allow word of his selection to lead ot the media first on a Saturday is designed to play down news coverage of his selection of a hardcore abortion advocate to lead his health care reform efforts and to implement his pro-abortion agenda.

As you know, I’m always wishing that my challenges be little ones. To match my minimal skills and abilities. Maybe I’ve found one?

Now these folks have come up with a “killer commercial”. IT guys always talk about the “killer app” that just revolutionizes the industry, like Apple’s Visicalc or Lotus’ Spreadsheet. Here’s a challenge that I’ve embraced. I put this on my FACEBOOK profile. That will get the idea in front of a lot of people. Maybe they might even watch. Maybe they will “defriend” me! Even say bad things about me. (Like that’s going to bother me!) That’s a chance I’ll take. I’ll put it on my blog, “Reinke Faces Life”. I’ll plant the flag and let people brand me as a reactionary kook. (Actually, I think “Classical Liberal” might be more accurate. All those Theology and Philosophy courses that MC made the injineers take may have finally sunk in.)

We, as a society, using the guns of gooferment force, may have allowed ourselves to kill the future.

Abortion is the genocide of our society’s future. When you’re in a hole, it’s a good idea to stop digging.

I found this video to communicate the possibilities at a visceral level. The mainstream media has an agenda; I’m not surprised they surpressed it. It might make the sheeple (people who are sheep) think. And as George Orwell pointed out that’s dangerous to the elite.

The suppressed commercial is here http://www.catholicvote.com/; it links to YouTube.

Take 45 seconds and see if it doesn’t move you to think.

(Don’t care WHAT you think. Just that you do THINK. The media doesn’t want you doing any of that dangerous stuff! ROFL!

I signed up for Catholic Vote despite not being a saint. I urge you to do the same.

Here’s their response:

*** begin quote ***

Thank you for signing up to let your friends and family know about our efforts to take back our families, our schools, our courts, and our culture. Together at CatholicVote.org, we are building a movement of people to stand strong to defend life, faith, and family.

Sounds pretty good to me.

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Wife: I’m “a Catholic in Good Standing” But Also Pro-abortion and Pro-Homosexual
By Kathleen Gilbert

LONG BEACH, California, November 19, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) – California’s first lady, Maria Shriver, recently told Sally Quinn of the Washington Post that she considers herself “a Catholic in good standing” despite the fact that she openly advocates abortion.

“I find I don’t spend a lot of time trying to square my own daily life with the institutional Church,” said Shriver. “I pick and choose.”

Shriver called herself a “cafeteria Catholic,” a term that is most often used in a derogatory manner, referring to individuals who only selectively submit to Church teaching and authority while still calling themselves Catholic.

On the disparity between Church teaching and her belief on abortion, Shriver told Quinn, “I often talk to my daughters at the dinner table about the difference between being pro-abortion and being pro-choice.” She explained that she believes supporting the right to choose an abortion is different from supporting abortion.

Shriver also pointed out her disagreement with the Church on the issue of homosexuality. She said she does not believe that “people who are gay shouldn’t be accepted into the church.” However, while the Catholic Church teaches that all sexual activity outside of marriage, including homosexual activity, is sinful, there is no prohibition against people with homosexual inclinations being welcomed into the Church. The Church strongly recommends loving acceptance of such persons and spiritual direction and other assistance to help them live celebate, faithful Catholic lives.

The office of Cardinal Mahoney, Shriver’s bishop, did not respond to repeated calls from LifeSiteNews.com yestereday and today up to press time.

Both Shriver and her husband, California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, claim a Catholic identity despite public disavowal of Church teaching on the sanctity of life.

“I always said that you should not have your religion interfere with government policies or with the policies of the people,” Schwarzenegger said at a Toronto press conference last year, as he advocated research on human embryos.

“I am a Catholic and a very dedicated Catholic, but that does not interfere with my decision-making because I know that stem-cell research, the way we are doing it in California … is the right way to go,” he said as quoted by the Toronto Star.

More recently, Gov. Schwarzenegger put aside his professed faith when he publicly joined homosexualists in the fight against Proposition 8, California’s amendment protecting legal marriage as between a man and a woman.

# – # – #

[JR: Another CINO! She disagrees with probably THE singular Catholic issue. When does this rise to the level of "public scandal"? Where's the Leadership? Where's the laity? Where's the outrage? Doesn't anyone realize what happens when you let your brand be adulterated? Sigh. Argh!]

Catholic Church has made no exception regarding abortion since ancient times

October 26, 2008

Most Rev. W. Francis Malooly, bishop, Catholic Diocese of Wilmington

*** begin quote ***

In his interview with The News Journal published Oct. 19, Sen. Joe Biden presents a seriously erroneous picture of Catholic teaching on abortion. He said, “I know that my church has wrestled with this for 2,000 years,” and claimed repeatedly that the Church has a nuanced view of the subject that leaves a great deal of room for uncertainty and debate.

This is simply incorrect. The teaching of the Church is clear and not open to debate. Abortion is a grave sin because it is the wrongful taking of an innocent human life. The Church received the tradition opposing abortion from Judaism. In the Greco-Roman world, early Christians were identifiable by their rejection of the common practices of abortion and infanticide.

*** and ***

This Sunday, all the parishes in the Catholic Diocese of Wilmington will pray the Litany of St. Thomas More, martyr and patron saint of statesmen, politicians and lawyers. We will ask St. Thomas More to intercede so all statesmen and politicians may be courageous and effective in their defense and promotion of the sanctity of human life. We hope Sen. Biden will carefully listen to the Church’s 2,000 years of testimony on abortion and that he will join in the defense and promotion of the sanctity of life.

*** end quote ***

[JR: Seems to sum the issue up!]

Liberal Catholic Bigotry Against Sarah Palin
By Joseph D’Hippolito

*** begin quote ***

The Catholic Left, which ostensibly advocates compassion and justice in the name of Jesus Christ, does not like Sarah Palin, and finds fault with her unwed 17-year-old daughter’s pregnancy, and even accuses her of apostasy.

Catholic Left notables Michael Sean Winters and Garry Wills are part of a campaign to destroy Palin. The Catholic Left wants to provide pseudo-theological cover for Catholic liberals who wish to vote for the Democratic ticket of Illinois Sen. Barack Obama and Delaware Sen. Joseph Biden. Obama supports legalized abortion while Biden, a Catholic, opposes the Magisterium’s teaching on abortion.

*** end quote ***

I can’t understand why, if the Church leaders won’t hold CINO politicians to account, the laity doesn’t. I just don’t understand! We say there’s a “right to life”, but we don’t vote that way. We purport to be followers. Some better than others. I’m not throwing any stones. But, on fundamental truths, where some one purports to be a Christian and votes for abortion, I think that a little attention is warranted. And, maybe, if not a “first stone”, then a gentle nudge up side the head, asking “what are you thinking?”.

So Palin gets denigrated, and Biden gets a pass?
