Polyphenols and a Palace Hotel make for a remarkable therapeutic cocktail in Paris, France

A place to inspire the soul, rest awhile, and emerge anew; Le Meurice, since 1835, is just such a place — a palace hotel in the finest tradition on the rue de Rivoli and Tuileries Gardens.

Recently, Le Meurice announced the winner of its first Contemporary Art Prize. Zoulikha Bouabdellah, born in Paris and who is represented by gallery LA B.A.N.K., was announced as the finalist in the 2008/2009 non-profit competition to allow for an up-and-coming French artist to continue creating art. The 2009/2010 winner is Renaud Auguste-Dormeuil, represented by gallery In Situ. Winners jointly receive the Meurice Prize for Contemporary Art: € 10,000 for the artist and € 10,000 for his or her gallery.

Le Meurice is between the Place de la Concorde and the Grand Louvre, fronting the famous Jardin des Tuileries. From Le Meurice, it is a short stroll to the Opera Garnier and the shopping areas of rue de la Paix and rue Saint-Honore where Hermes, Dior, Versace, Guy Laroche, Lanvin and Yves Saint-Laurent are displayed. The 1930s saw Coco Chanel give countless receptions at Le Meurice.

Queen Victoria made Le Meurice her digs as did the Dukes and Duchesses of Windsor, Kent, York, and Marlborough. US President Franklin Delano Roosevelt stayed at Le Meurice; Russian composer Tchaikovsky was a guest after giving a concert. The King of Spain, Alphonse XIII, booked rooms at Le Meurice immediately after the completed 1905 – 1907 renovation that cost 8 million francs and offered individual private baths. The King brought with him his own furniture.

Le Meurice saw guests such as writers Rudyard Kipling and Walter Lippmann; and more recently renowned singer and actress Liza Minnelli and opera star Placido Domingo. As well, Orson Welles, writer, director and star of the 1941 feature film Citizen Kane, and Hollywood stars Ginger Rogers, Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, and Eddie Fisher were devotees of the hotel. Surrealist painter Salvador Dali asked hotel staff to collect flies for him across from the hotel in the Tuileries Gardens at a cost of five francs per fly. Today, Le Meurice enjoys a vast cross-section of guests to reflect an international persona, from rock stars and industry kingpins to film actors and actresses.

Le Meurice is designated “palace” accommodation due to its architectural, cultural, and historical heritage. 1771 beginnings as a coach inn were modest, serving exhausted upper class British travelers in Calais on their way to Paris after crossing the Straits of Dover. A forward thinking postmaster, Charles-Augustin Meurice, used his coach inn for guests and arranged rides to Paris aboard his unique 36-hour coach service. He built a second inn in Paris in 1817 shortly before his death in 1820. In 1835 Le Meurice began anew in its present location overlooking the historic Tuileries Gardens.

By the 19th century British upper crust knew the hotel by the nickname “City of London” because the vast majority of Le Meurice staff spoke English and understood keenly the English love of brown beer, cognac and fellow countrymen nearby willing to listen to a story or two. Soon the hotel on rue de Rivoli overlooking acres of lovely formal gardens ideal for a leisurely morning or late afternoon stroll became known as the hotel of kings and queens due to the large number of royalty staying at the hotel. The hotel’s clientel has not changed much to this day, hosting the crème de la crème on all fronts of society.

The first time I saw Paris I knew I was home. Why, I haven’t the foggiest idea. I suppose, in the beginning, it is the same for most visitors to the city of eternal light: magnificent buildings, museums, an exhilarating night-life that makes one want to kick up heels and never leave the city; and of course the many fresh flower stalls scattered throughout the city add to Paris’s colour, romance, glamour and earthiness.

Use the Le Meurice bikeI had already seen the Eiffel Tower from its base having sailed the River Seine at full moon with my daughter. It's late September and our lazy afternoon stroll about the Tuileries Gardens, which amounted to a mere fraction of the more than 280,000 square metres (25 hectares), is well worth our time. The Tuileries run from the Louvre to Place de la concorde and were designed in 1564 for French royalty. Today, the gardens are public. The Eiffel Tower is seen in the distance, is less imposing, more friendly this way, as if to welcome the idea that its rising structure may be climbed at will by anyone truly in love with her. In warm months here at the Tuileries there are toy boats to rent and sail across a large garden pond to the excitement of children. Le Meurice caters to children

The Tuileries Garden is designed to run parallel to the River Seine. Catherine de Medicis — after the death in 1559 of her father, Henry 11 of France, had the Tuileries Palace erected in 1564 after several tile factories on the site were demolished to make way for the palace. The palace had been under attack many times. In 1871 the Tuileries Palace was set on fire for the last time burning to the ground all but its exterior stone walls. Over the years various statues have been removed or destroyed but today statues by Coustou, Coysevox, Carpeaux, and Rodin as well as modern sculptors like Max Ernst, and Giacometti may be enjoyed in the gardens.

After visiting the Tuileries Gardens we crossed the wide street to Le Meurice for my spa appointment with Caudalie Spa which would be followed by English Afternoon Tea within the hotel. Caudalie is a spa and fitness centre on the hotel mezzanine level that uses exclusively Caudalie treatments, products created by Mathilde and Bertrand Thomas, and trained masseuses from Les Sources de Caudalie in France. Caudalie is the world’s first “vinotherapie” spa, a spa that uses grape-seed extract serum with powerful antioxidant properties of oligomeric proanthocyanidins. I was looking forward to my treatment as I had a great deal of pain in one knee due to an accident. Paris may be a city of Light; but it is also a city that begs to be walked, and walked, and walked. And we did just this. Walk. So, off to the spa in hopes to make things right.

Crushed grape-seed extract has antioxidants and polyphenols that block cell degenerating free radicals. Warm spring water taken from a depth of 540 meters is rich in minerals and is used in the treatments. The grape seeds have no scent and are as soft as the finest silk. Honey is mixed along with the seeds and this warm paste is spread gently over the nude body with relaxing massage strokes. A heated blanket is then wrapped around the client from chin to toe for twenty or so minutes. I found this an odd sensation: all bundled up like one giant white sausage. I almost refused this part of the treatment citing a near anxiety attack. There’s a lot to be said for just pushing onward through one’s fears.

Swiss Treatments

Left alone and in the dark in the treatment room and wondering how all this French pampering was going to play out in these old bones, I closed my eyes and thought of the meal I would not get to eat this time ‘round in Paris on the second level of the Eiffel Tower: No reservation had been secured three months’ in advance of our visit to Paris. I pacified myself with the knowledge that I myself along with my daughter would soon be upstairs of Le Meurice savouring fancy sandwiches, scones with clotted cream, exquisite jams, exotic teas with antioxidant qualities high in vitamin C we’d been informed, and a multitude of French pastry in a palace restaurant garden setting. In place of tea one could have champagne. As were were not staying overnight in the hotel we would not enjoy breakfast. Yannick Alleno, and Ladurée, world renowned Parisian cafe and pastry shop, put their heads together to come up with the ultimate Parisian all-chocolate breakfast: the Choc’Alleno.

When my therapist returned to the treatment room to see how I was doing I let out a low murmur to signify that I was absolutely perfect. On the therapist’s second round it was time for me to use the private shower in the treatment room to wash off the honey and grape seeds. Next a glorious massage is performed. Finally I was instructed to get up from the treatment table. I recall the ease with which I moved didn’t register immediately— not until I began to get dressed and found that I didn’t need to calculate each and every movement executed to ward off pain. My movements now were carefree.

The spa is both elegant and restful designed in marble, wood, stone and glass, serving both men and women with separate change rooms with sauna, steam, showers and toilets. The spa is intimate, serving up to six clients. Lots of sample-size Caudalie products in the ladies bathroom to enjoy pre/post spa treatments. Dense with luxurious detail are the spa robes and individual spa slippers. Hint: come early for your treatment and enjoy the sauna and Jacuzzi to your heart’s content. There’s an Anti-ageing facial treatment using an exclusive Claudalie polyphenol serum that combines ultrasound, electro stimulation, and galvanic current. There’s a weight loss treatment, too; but I myself did not have time for more than the one massage. Quite new I learned is a molecule from vine stalks called Viniferine for anti-dark spot and skin correcting action. There is an entire skin and bodyline. Claudalie’s main spa is in Bordeaux. Le Dali Restaurant

Le Meurice in 2000 was restored to its original status as a classic French Palace with the completion of an extensive two-year renovation. It’s main dining room, le Meurice, presided over by Chef Yannick Alleno whose restaurant was in 2007 presented the Michelin Guide’s highest honour for a third star, is a place to fully unwind and enjoy French gastronomy at its finest in a splendid Louis XVI environment. There are only a handful of Paris restaurants with Three Michelin Stars. Second to the Michelin guide is the French gastronomic guide Gault and Millau created in 1969 by Henri Gault and Christian Millau. In contrast to the Michelin guide, Gault and Millau award Hats with one-to-five and five being tops. In 2009 Le Meurice restaurant received five hats from Gault and Millau, and the trendy Le Dali restaurant was awarded three hats. Ara Starck painted the 145 square meters ceiling on Le Dali. Camille Lesecq, head pastry chef, recently created a Detox Macaron as part of Afternoon Tea served in Le Dali March through summer from 3:30 to 6:30 – a green tea and candied pink grapefruit cream delight. Oscetra Royal Caviar is served with condiments. Le Bar 228 is a throw back on the Gentleman’s private club. But don’t be fooled, Le Meurice is anything but stuffy and out of style. Live jazz is played 7:PM to Midnight. Those who know Paris well say that the best Club sandwiches are to found in Le Meurice. Fifty whiskies and malts are served. Anything hard to get is found here. Cocktails are a good idea. Ask for the Starcky or The 228 among other fascinating concoctions.

The main dining room, Le Meurice, is to the right behind magnificent closed doors once immediately inside the hotel’s front entrance. We arrived too early for dinner; but this didn’t keep us from admiring the Louis XVI period chandeliers that I took to be Baccarat crystal. Tall and narrow windows from inside the opulent dining room overlook the Tuileries Gardens. Window treatments are formal, heavy drapery in floral patterns of the softest shades of gold, salmon, yellow, and green. Landscape paintings on the walls and a ceiling painted with blue sky and delicate angels add to the room’s quiet elegance. Antique bevelled mirrors, ornate gilding, and marble fireplace accent the intimate space holding perhaps ten round dining tables and chairs with oval backs and straight legs looking very much like miniature columns of ancient Rome. At first I thought the mosaic pattern on the floor was of fine wool carpet. Once I stepped into the room my soft-soled shoes told me the floor was tile. Carpet had hidden the tile’s initial true beauty until recently. The patterns on the floor precisely mimic those of the china commissioned by Limoges for the Meurice. I couldn’t help but think of Greta Garbo playing mistress to Charles Boyer’s Napoleon Bonaparte in the 1937 Hollywood film “Conquest”. In late 2008 Le Meurice General Manager Franka Holtmann asked Charles Jouffre, a man responsible for creating drapes and sumptuous hangings in the Grand Foyer at the Opera Garnier, to imagine the hotel’s guest rooms a touch warmer in tone and feel –home à la française. To date, Le Meurice has won many awards, including the 2009 Conde Nast Traveller US - Gold List/World’s Best Places to Stay (2nd. place in Europe); and placed in Travel + Leisure - Top 50 Hotels in the World. Fortune Magazine placed Le Meurice sixth in the world and the only hotel in France for the 2008 The Ten Best Business Hotels.

Rushed for time, we still want to see Paris from the hotel’s rooftop terrace. On our way up in the hotel elevator I thought the city view would be fascinating; I wasn’t prepared for my senses to become momentarily startled by the historical significance of what lay before us. As soon as we reach Le Meurice’s rooftop Belle Etoile Royal Suite terrace the city is presented in a breathtaking 360-degree advantage to reaffirm Paris’s standing as a city of international acclaim. Dr Hauschka anti-blemish system trial

I’ve been searching for the perfect solution to my skin breakouts and blemishes and since there are so many skin systems out there with weird chemicals and acids, I decided to go down the natural route with Dr Hauschka’s Daily Face Care Kit for Oily Skin.

My skin complaints date from when I moved to London almost two years ago from Newcastle and many of my friends have blamed the hard water and excess pollution and stress for changes in their own skin.

I popped in to Zest Pharmacy in Soho, a proper neighbourhood chemist, which stocks an excellent range of natural, specialist and French skincare brands. I had a long chat with one of the owners, a French lady who knew pretty much everything about skincare and had luminous skin to prove it.

She showed me starter kits by La Roche-Posay, Murad, Vichy and Caudalie, but recommended Dr Hauschka for its homeopathic approach to solving skin problems.

I’ve been using the Hydra Medic skincare system by Repechage for about nine months, which I roadtested for ELLEuk.com, but after initial good results, it seems to have dried my skin out. The Repechage Beta Hydroxy Serum is a great overnight treatment, as it smoothed out all the tiny bumps on my forehead, but the Mattifying Moisturiser is a horrible bright white that made my skin feel tight and uncomfortable.

At just £15 for six travel size products, I thought I’d give it a try and see if I have more luck without the drying chemicals I’ve been relying on for so many years.

The Daily Face Care Kit for oily skin consists of a Cream Cleanser, Clarifying Toner and Normalising Day Oil to be used instead of a moisturiser, as well as three weekly treatments – a Facial Steam Bath, Cleansing Clay Mask and a Revitalising Mask.

On the first day of the trial, I took some time out to do the whole seven step system with all of the products. I expected the Cleansing Cream to be smooth and rich, but it had an oatmeal consistency that gently exfoliated my skin without drying it. The Clarifying Toner felt refreshing and calmed my skin with extracts of calendula, witch hazel and daisy.

Having used oil-free products for so long and having an almost pathological fear of getting an oily T-Zone, I was sceptical about using the Normalising Day Oil. I could just imagine my make-up slipping off and suffering a greasy face all day, but I was amazed at how quickly the oil was absorbed. It’s important to get the right amount and I found that two drops was enough to cover my face.

Dr Hauschka’s skin regime is completely different to any other I’ve tried, as he doesn’t believe in using exfoliators or night creams, as they upsets the natural rhythm of your skin, thus clogging pores and making your skin increasingly dependent on products.

It’s all about normalising skin and making it learn again how to repair itself biologically. I’m still unsure about putting so much trust in my own body to rid itself of the blemishes, as it’s been a bit of a bitch so far, but picking and choosing various harsh and expensive products is probably what’s given it the hump in the first place.

Once a week, you should give your skin an intensive treatment of steam, deep pore cleansing and radiance revealing. The Facial Steam Bath has a subtle, herbal scent and helps open pores and detoxify skin. Add a few table spoons to a sink full of boiling water, cover your head with a towel and breath in the aromatic steam for five to seven minutes. Afterwards, my skin, chest and head all felt opened and I instantly had more energy.

Immediately after steaming, you’re supposed to add a thin layer of the mustard-coloured Cleansing Clay Mask and keep your face moist for up to ten minutes (I forgot and my face felt tight and rigid, like it was covered in cement). After washing it off, I applied the Revitalising Mask, which felt luxurious but not too rich and had a relaxing aroma.

Dr Hauschka’s regime can be a bit of a faff, as they expect you to have an endless supply of clean muslin cloths – cotton wool just won’t cut it, as it absorbs the skin’s natural oils – and enough time in the morning to steam said cloths in between cleansing steps. However, it is good advice and it just requires a bit more effort and perseverance.

So on day two, I don’t have that tight, under-nourished feeling on my face and haven’t experienced any more painful breakouts, apart from a few spots when the steam and masks brought out the impurities. I’m impressed so far, but will post updates after a week and when I finish the starter kit.

My day at the Spa

I have been in NYC for now five years and I have to say I have never found a good spa! Not joking on this one. I am a world savvy traveler and got some of the best massage in the world.

My favorite two spas in the world are:

So after being in these places, you can image I became quite picky when it comes to massage. Yesterday, I got an invitation from a magazine I work with to try the La Prairie Spa at the Ritz Carlton.

When I arrived they immediately oriented me to the locker room, which mostly looked like a private European boudoir lounge. Between marbles, sophisticated woods and European furnitures, I felt I had my very own changing room for myself. I tried the steaming room before the massage and was glad to find outside fresh little lemon-scented towels dipped in ice. The therapist was waiting for me in another lounge/waiting room.

The therapist asked me when was the last time I had massage. I could not say it was by a hot argentinien guy at Rose bar: ), so yes officially a while! Massage was great. When done I was complimented with a glass of champagne and a little gift back with a personalized note from the therapist. I have to say I was vey impressed by the level of personalized attention, details and the service. Yes I like to be threaten like a princess! A great spa I would recommend to anyone, especially after trying some of the worth spa in NYC, which are also some of the most expensive.

Caudalie Gentle Cleanser

I recently decided to switch cleansers. When I was younger I never really used much outside of soap and water… and was lucky because I never really had skin problems. No major acne problems. As I’ve gotten older, however, and have started wearing make as a profession, which means wearing lots of it, I’ve come to understand the benefits of using nice products on my skin. I wouldn’t necessarily call myself a “sensitive” skin type, I’ve never broken out due to makeup or anything like that, but I do have a tendency to turn red if the ingredients in my skin care are too harsh.

The trouble that I’ve been having lately is little hormonal breakouts and just generally feeling like my cleanser was either too strong and drying out my skin, or that it wasn’t working well enough and I wasn’t seeing any difference at all. This is when my good friend introduced me to Caudalie.

I’ve been using the Gentle Cleanser for a week and a half now and my skin looks great, so great that people keep telling me it looks great, and as much as I’d like to blame it on my skills as a makeup artist, the truth is I’m wearing the same makeup I have been for months and no one’s said anything about it. Courir à Orléans : par tous les Saints !

Courir dans la région orléanaise suppose de s’approprier la géographie locale, les noms de villes ou de quartiers. J’ai ouï dire que les personnes venant juste d’emménager à Orléans sont plus ou moins déconcertées, désorientées par les noms de lieux commençant trop souvent par Saint : “Saint Ceci, Saint Cela, ….je les confonds tous ! “Saint Ceci, c’est au nord ou au sud de la loire déja ?” “….Yen a de trop ! On ne sait plus à quel saint se vouer !”. A ce propos j’ai très récemment échangé avec un olivetain qui réside dans cette commune depuis plus de 5 ans et qui m’a avoué être incapable de situer Saint Jean le Blanc…

Je vous propose donc de vous donner quelques repères donc un 360 ° des communes que vous allez traverser à la faveur de vos runs échevelés à Orléans et Alentours.

A l’Ouest de l’agglo, rive droite, la Chapelle Saint Mesmin et ses bords de loire très prisés par les coureurs, les marcheurs et les VTTistes. L’usine Michelin et la Verrerie Saint Gobain sont fermés depuis bien longtemps déja. Le siège National et la centrale d’achats du groupe Mr Bricolage ont depuis quelques années pris place dans le paysage économique.

Au Nord de l’agglo, l’ouvrière Saint Jean de la Ruelle, sa mairie à l’architecture un rien soviétique, sa piscine chauffée à vagues et à tobboggans, son activité industielle encore marquée par les usines Thermor devenue Fagor Brandt, Renault devenue TRW (bâtîment aujourd’hui désaffecté pour cause de relocalisation de l’activité à la Source) et Coussinets Minces devenue Federal Mogul.

A l’Est rive droite, Saint Jean de Braye, son vieux bourg, ses bords de loire, le canal d’Orléans et les chemins de halage. Côté économie, vous ne pouvez manquer l’ancien Batîment IBM qui devient peu à peu une friche, la caisse de retraite CIPS rebaptisée Medéric à la faveur des fusions et de mariages plus ou moins rapprochés. A l’écart de la loire, les incontournables usines Dior et Caudalie, toutes deux situées au pied du parc et du château de la charbonnière, parc que je vous recommande chaudement pour ses circuits variés et ombragés.

Au Sud Est, rive gauche, Saint Jean le Blanc, ses bords de loire, l’île charlemagne et et ses nombreuses possibilités de circuits, la piste cyclable “loire à vélo” et la levée qui vous emmènent sans qu’on y prenne garde jusqu’a Saint Denis en Val et enfin, la piste cyclable qui part du débouché sud du pont Thinat et qui vous conduira direct jusqu’ au pied du parc Floral et à l’entrée de la commune de Saint Cyr en Val.

Au sud Ouest, rive gauche : St Pryvé Saint Mesmin, pour les bords le la loire ou du loiret, pour la pointe de courpain et sa réserve naturelle, pour le (petit) lac de St Pryvé . A proximité : Saint hilaire-Saint Mesmin pour son hôtel restau “l’Escale du Port Arthur”, pour son parc entre loire et Loiret et pour le chemin qui serpente le long du loiret avant de venir lêcher la pointe de courpain et de vous déposer via la levée de la loire aux pieds de l’église de Cléry Saint André.

Là où ça se complique, c’est que dans un deuxième cercle situé à 15-30 kms à vol d’oiseau d’Orléans on trouvera : Saint Denis de l’hôtel (beau chemin longeant la loire jusqu’à Châteauneuf et St Martin d’Abbat), St Ay (prononcer “Saint I), St Benoit sur Loire (et son abbaye), La Ferté St Aubin. Ca se corse vraiment si l’on rajoute les noms des quartiers et des églises d’Orléans : Saint Paul, Saint Jean, Saint Aignan, Saint Pierre le Puellier, St Euverte, St Paterne, St Loup, Saint Marc, Saint Marceau,…

Mais au fait ? Qui est le saint patron des sportifs ? : internet me suggère deux noms : Pier Georgio Frassati et Jean Bosco.

After a long and restless night, I was finding it really really really hard to get up. I tried to lure myself out of bed with different rewards: coffee. Croissant. Banana. No good. Not working. Then the thought of a long hot shower with my latest drugstore purchase, Caudalie Vine Peach shower gel, propelled me down the stairs to start my day. This stuff is good, really good. Plant-based and soap-free, it truly smells like a peach…Juicy and succculent, but also with some green in there too, like you not only got the peach off the tree, but you got some leaves, too. It’s a far cry from most peach-scented products, which I find usually too sweet and cloying. So no, I don’t have a peach tree, and I don’t have anyone to come and get me, but I can daydream whilst in the shower with suds that are fresh above all else, and it’s a great way to start the day, even if I wasn’t quite ready for it.

0% Parabènes, phénoxyéthanol,sodium laureth sulfate, phtalates, colorants, huiles minérales, ingrédients d’origine animale c’est tout ce que la crème Premier Cru de Caudalie ne contient pas. Crème que j’ai testé pendant 56 jours. C’est le temps qu’il faut pour commencer à apprécier les vertus de cette crème.

Fin juin j’avais été invité par une agence de communication au lancement de la crème Premier Cru de Caudalie mais comme je ne pouvais m’y rendre, j’ai proposé que l’on m’expédie la crème pour la tester et rédiger un article par la suite.

J’ai été agréablement surprise de découvir dans le colis un beau flacon de 50 ml et non pas un échantillon du genre pochette qu’il faut presser à mort pour en faire sortir un peu de produit.

La crème est généreuse et la peau l’absorbe assez rapidement. De plus elle sent vraiment bon grâce à un délicat accord de roses de vignes infusées dans une barrique de chêne. D’ailleurs je n’ai pas envie de porter d’eau de toilette depuis que j’utilise cette crème.

La crème contient trois actifs: Du Resvératrol de vignes de Smith Haut Lafitte ce qui permet à la peau d’augmenter de 160% la durée de vie de ses cellules. c’est donc un puissant activateur cellulaire, c’est la promesse d’une peau plus ferme et de rides comblées.

Ma petite ridule sous l’oeil se voit nettement moins.

Elle contient aussi de la viniférine de vigne de Smith Haut Lafitte aux vertus anti-tâches mais le problème c’est que j’en ai déjà des tâches dû à de longues expositions au soleil. La crème ne se propose pas d’effacer les tâches mais de les prévenir. Aucune crème n’enlève les tâches. il faut des séances de laser pour retrouver un épiderme immaculé. La crème contient aussi des polyphénols de raisin qui sont des puissants anti-oxydants qui forment un bouclier anti radicalaire et qui contribuent à conserver la souplesse et l’élasticité de la peau.

Ce que j’en pense: La crème Premier Cru de Caudalie c’est un bon produit. La crème est hydratante sans être trop grasse, elle ne pique pas, ne peluche pas, elle sent très bon et améliore l’élasticité de la peau. Le flacon est beau, luxe, pratique, hygiénique.

Le seul point qui me contrarie c’est son prix : 89€. Si cette crème était vendue 20 € c’est sûr qu’elle serait mienne pour tout l’hiver.

C’era una volta, nel lontano 1993, una giovane coppia di innamorati che, tra i vitigni di Château Smith Haut Lafitte, incontrò un eminente docente della facoltà di Farmacia di Bordeaux, il professore Vercauteren.
Mathilde e Bertrand Thomas, questi i nomi dei due amati, rimasero meravigliati nello scoprire i benfici straoridnari della vite, generosa di principi attivi utili alla pelle contro i radicali liberi. Il Professore spiegò loro che i vinaccioli dell’uva, abitualemnte gettati via dopo la vendemmia, sono ricchi di polifenoli che, una volta stabilizzati, si rilevano preziosissimi per la pelle poichè si tratta dei più potenti elemneti del mondo vegetale nella cattura dei radicali liberi, 10.000 volte più efficaci della vitamine E.

Hello All!! Can you believe it is August already…woosh!! Well, anyway, I want to share with you my favorite products that I used faithfully in July. Here goes:

Ole Henrikson – I purchased these from Sephora. I only use these products at night. The Foaming Cleanser I use with my Clarisonic brush. I don’t like to use the Cleanser and Clarisonic morning and night because overstimulation to your skin causes overstimulation of the sebaceous glands, which in turn leads to breakout .

Invigorating Night Gel
African Red Tea Foaming Cleanser

Korres Natural Products – also purchased from Sephora. I use this product in the morning only. In the morning I rinse my face with water and use a cotton pad with witch hazel and tea tree oil, then I add this product:

Cinnamon & Echinacea Cream Gel
Pomegranate Cleansing and DeMake Up Wipes – I didn’t get to talk about these on the video, but great for when you just don’t feel like washing your face at night…you know we all have those nights

Caudalie – This was also purchased from Sephora. I did not talk about this product on the video b/c youtube only gives me less than 10 mins!

Cleansing Water – I use it to remove eye make up. It is so gentle and never irritates my eyes and I have very sensitive eyes. This product can also be used to remove the make up on your face with a cotton pad!

Urban Decay Primer Potion – I purchased this from Ulta many moons ago and I’m still going I also love their 24/7 eye liner in Zero.

My absolute favorite product is Cargo’s Water Resistant Bronzer!! It gives the prettiest sheen on the face. It’s not chunky like some of the MSF’s from MAC can be :/ Don’t get me wrong, I like the MSF’s, but they tend to be too over powering for daytime, to me…I love them for going out at night!

Le parc et le château de la charbonnière sont d’un accès facile à partir de la rocade. Ils sont situés au pied de l’usine Christian Dior, à la périphérie Est d’Orléans, sur la RN 152, direction Pithiviers. Des grands parkings vous attendent aux deux entrée sprincipales : l’une, la plus sympa et ombragée au plus près des usines Dior, Caudalie, Konecranes et Famar, l’autre en direction de Rébrechien et de Marigny les usages.

Les pistes ombragées, longues et nombreuses ont depuis peu, été bitumées et balisées. Le fléchage des circuits peut s’avérer utile : rien ne ressemble plus à un chemin en forêt qu’un autre chemin en forêt !!

Selon votre humeur, votre parcours empruntera des forêts, des clairières, des vergers (pommiers et poiriers). On longe tantôt le château de charbonnière, tantôt un étang, tantôt une voie ferrée désaffectée, tantôt une ferme, tantôt un centre équestre.

Le circuit principal doit faire environ 6 kms. De nombreuses variantes sont possibles : tangentes, raccourcis et détours selon : l’état de forme , la météo, le temps disponible,….

Ambiance : amateurs de jonquilles, de muguet, de champignons, de fraises des bois, de mûres,… ce parc est fait pour vous !! Il est relativement fréquenté le weekend et l’été (notament par les scouts) mais il est suffisament grand pour que sa fréquentation n’occasionne qu’une gêne mineure aux coureurs. Le château fait face à une immense prairie, à l’arrière séances de tir à l’arc. Un robinet se trouve au plus près des tables aménagées pour le picnic, au bord de la dite prairie et du terrain de tennis.

Variantes : on peut également pousser jusqu’aux bourgs tranquiles de Boigny sur Bionne, de Marigny les Usages ou de Semoy où, tous les ans fin septembre se déroule la course des mille lièvres et des 2 étangs (et …devinez ce qu’on nous offre à l’arrivée des 16 kms ? des pommes !!)
