EDIT : the video was removed cuz its against copyright and blah blah blah … basically Seth MacFarlane and whatever TV Company want money for every second of every thing they do … unlike the MUCH MUCH better South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone. Those guys let you watch all the episodes online for free … and their jokes are so much better too. ANYWAY, I guess if you’re still interested search for the video and I’m sure you’ll find it somewhere.

My brother showed me this a few days ago its from MacFarlane’s Cavlcade of Cartoon Comedy… personally I don’t quite like family guy too much but this I can handle simply because it takes away the facade of trying to have any kind of story line … instead its more of a robot chicken style thing.

Anyways, so Obama smashed the damned fly swiftly on his left forearm.

“Now, where were we?” the president said during the inteview taping on CNBC. Pleased with himself, he added, “That was pretty impressive, wasn’t it? I got the sucker.”

I would also have clapped if I were present during the taping!

But apparently PETA has it otherwise. “We believe that people, where they can be compassionate, should be, for all animals,” PETA spokesman Bruce Freidrich explained.

The group’s website explained. “In a nutshell, our position is this: He isn’t the Buddha, he’s a human being, and human beings have a long way to go before they think before they act.” Uh huh. And what’s your point, PETA? So…PETA has positioned itself to be where the Buddha or Jesus or Vishnu something similar is at. Essentially greater than all human beings on Earth.

PETA also sent Obama a device that traps a fly so it can then be released outside. But I doubt he’ll be needing it.

I am back from my adventures in Costa Rica. It was an incredible trip, but I will have more on that later.

I’m still catching up with my life which pressed forward in spite of my absence, so this will be a short one.

I’m sure alot of people have seen some, if not all, of these online but they’re collected here for everyone. Now while some of these shorts were hilarious, too many of them weren’t really that funny. They don’t have the same kind of odd, out of nowhere touch that so many Family Guy episodes have and that’s what alot of people are going to come into this expecting.

Even though some aren’t as great, the ones that are funny are laugh out loud hilarious. My favorite was Cat Staff Meeting. There’s over 50 cartoons here and it runs about an hour and I actually let my kids watch most of them. Of course I swear like a drunken sailor around my house so bad language doesn’t phase them. Some were just not for kids and I have to assume that most parents wouldn’t let their children watch any of these. For me it’s a choice between this or iCarly. This wins.

In the end I expected alot more from this than I got and without a good selection of special features I would suggest just going online and checking them out. It’ll save you some cash at least. This will end up getting a few views around here as I force my friends to sit down and watch it when we’re drunk but it’ll be collecting dust after that.

Many web series and vlogs have become successful in that they are revenue positive and have garnered significant press but none rival the views or ad revenue generated by successful network TV shows. We in the online content world are more than ready for a series to break out and have televisionesque viewership and revenue. On that note, Seth MacFarlane’s web series CAVALCADE OF CARTOON COMEDY premiered today. Will this be the one?

It’s created specifically for the internet. The random, bit-like nature of Seth MacFarlane’s comedy requires little to no exposition and is therefore just as funny in short clips. There is an already established rabid fan-base. Remember what happened when Fox cancelled FAMILY GUY? And to put it over the top, the sponsor tie-in is actually entertaining.

I’ve been following National Geographic’s YouTube channel casually over the past few months — it’s always good for a quick and entertaining glimpse into the natural world. Sperm Whale Diving details the slightly terrifying nature of the mama and baby whale relationship — imagine leaving your infant to bob at the surface while you descend to the ocean’s depths. Oh, and all while “companion fish” cling to the surface of your baby. Sperm whales are tough, man.

And in case you missed the news, Seth MacFarlane’s Cavalcade of Cartoon Comedy premiered all over the Internets today. Only two sketches are currently online, but we got a sneak peak at 10 of them last week — read all about it at NewTeeVee Station today!

Seth MacFarlane’s animated series — Family Guy, American Dad and the upcoming Cleveland Show — have a clear house style, and Calvacade of Cartoon Comedy, the wunderkind producer’s first venture into pure web comedy, slips neatly into that mold. Simple, colorful line work? Check. Multiple pop culture references? Check. Talking animals? Check. A fierce determination to work a joke until it goes from funny to overplayed and back to funny again? Check.

The only difference is that Cavalcade consists solely of the cutaway jokes that are scattered throughout a traditional MacFarlane show. But without Peter Griffith reminiscing that, “It’s just like when Rocky Balboa went to space” (to make up one example), each 1-2-minute short is devoid of context, save for the title cards. “[The title cards] felt like a natural progression,” MacFarlane said during our Q&A with him, “giving you just enough information about what you’re going to see.” And those cards turn out to be both the series’ most brilliant aspect, giving pieces like Two Ducks Talk About “Meet the Parents” a dry, almost Woody Allen-esque feel, and occasionally its greatest weakness, as too often the concept for a sketch is funnier than the sketch itself, such as A Scotsman Who Can’t Watch A Movie Without Shouting At the Screen.

MacFarlane compares the format to New Yorker comics, but most of the bits lack that publication’s brand of sophisticated-by-virtue-of-obscurity humor. Instead, they range from deadpan clever (Stuck On A Life Raft With Matthew McConaughey) to mildly grotesque (Mountain Climber). Each piece at least garners a smile; some, an outright belly laugh — old-school Nintendo fans will be complete suckers for Super Mario Rescues the Princess. Generally speaking, it’s not at all different from what MacFarlane fans have already been getting from Fox’s Sunday night line-up — but the translation to YouTube-sized shorts turns out to be a perfect fit.

Cavalcade is the ultimate in disposable online fare, with plenty of viral potential but not much staying power. With at least 48 more bits to roll out over the next 10 weeks, though, MacFarlane and his team should be good for a few more good laughs.

I was able to attend an advance screening of Seth MacFarlane’s Cavalcade of Cartoon Comedy (our review of the series is here) last week, and afterwards sit down for a short Q&A with MacFarlane and representatives from production company Media Rights Capital, Burger King (who sponsors the series) and Google (who will be distributing Cavalcade via AdSense).  Please excuse the amateur sound and editing…

Here are a few details that didn’t make it into the video:

• MacFarlane does admit that there’s potential for 50 more episodes: “If they do really well, then maybe.”
• Cavalcade was produced during the WGA strike last winter, but was Guild-approved thanks to an interim agreement struck with MRC, the producing company.
• Only the first 10 episodes will be associated with Burger King (which has its own YouTube channel hosting the sketches); all will be available at the SethComedy web site and YouTube channel. As for the exact release schedule, “It’s flexible,” according to MacFarlane — for now, they’re promising the release of one or two shorts a week.

Next month, Seth MacFarlane, creator of the “Family Guy” TV series, will unveil a high-profile new project called “Seth MacFarlane’s Cavalcade of Cartoon Comedy,” an animated variety show that will be distributed solely through Google.

The Internet giant will syndicate the new program using its AdSense advertising system to thousands of Web sites that are predetermined to be gathering spots for MacFarlane’s target audience, typically young men. Instead of placing a static ad on a Web page, Google will place a “Cavalcade” video clip. YouTube will also devote a channel to the material.

Marketing messages will be incorporated into the clips largely through “preroll” ads, but Burger King took its involvement a step further. In a rare example of one of Hollywood’s top creative powers working hand-in-glove with a marketer, MacFarlane created and animated Burger King ads to play ahead of “Cavalcade” clips.

If Seth MacFarlane is involved, this should be good. I have always been a fan of the “Family Guy” television series which includes humor which pokes fun at just about everyone. I’ll be looking forward to seeing the clips online soon. Thoughts?

In an industry first, Sony Pictures’ hoped-for blockbuster “Hancock,” starring Mr. Smith as a bungling superhero, hits theaters on Wednesday and will be available — after its theater run but before release on DVD — over the Internet, directly to viewers’ television sets. Streaming music service Rhapsody has joined the likes of Wal-Mart, Amazon, and Napster by launching an MP3 store.  Its move to offer unprotected music downloads has been anticipated since last Fall when Real Networks joined forces with MTV and Verizon. Apple’s iTunes will have more competition for consumers’ musical attention come August. The masterminds who started Hot Topic, a chain of clothing and accessories stores inspired by pop culture and music, have designed a digital-music store called ShockHound, which at launch will sell MP3s from at least three of the four major labels and hundreds of independent labels. ShockHound also plans to use MP3s to help increase sales of clothing and accessories carried by Hot Topic. (The New York Times 6/30)

A key feature of Twitter has been down most of this week: Replies. The core Twitter service itself is alive, but the team took the Reply feature down on Tuesday when the service started to slow. As of now, Friday afternoon, Replies are still down.  Disabling certain features is Twitter’s recent attempt to keep their frail architecture from failing completely. They tried it out during Apple’s recent WWDC keynote and it worked, so they’re clearly using this approach more often now to deal with problems. Twitter angers and annoys me generally.  I’m all for switching services but let’s be honest for a second here, Twitter still isn’t exactly mainstream unless you call new media fanatics typing away on their iPhones nervously twitching from too much caffeine mainstream.

EMI, which is looking less like a music label and more like a lawsuit label, is at it again. This afternoon they filed a lawsuit alleging “massive and blatant” copyright infringement by Hi5, VideoEgg and ten John Doe defendants to be named later. The core of the suit is over copyrighted EMI content that appears on Hi5, particularly music videos.
