Saturday Morning I got up early and ran up to the church building to make sure the part I ordered for my wireless microphone fixed the problem, and set up a Christmas tree.

While I was there, I decided to spend sometime in prayer for our service on Sunday morning. During that time I recorded myself to test our new recording system {which worked amazingly}. Once I was done I got everything cleaned up and ready to go.

While I was setting up and cleaning up, before and after my prayer time, I had been listening to a new jazz CD I purchased Friday night called, “Sunrise” by Helen Exner.  So as I was leaving I threw everything in the car and said out loud. God I wish I could listen to this CD in the van. I wish this stupid thing (CD player in Van) worked. So I reached over and hit the eject button.

Flash back: It was a snowy December evening in 2006, and the family was leaving a white elephant gift exchange. While at the party someone gave me a CD that I wanted to listen to on the way home. I jumped in the car, after getting the kids situated and shoved the CD in the player. What I did not do is take the CD out that was already in there. From that point on the CD player would not play, would not eject, and honestly made no noise whatsoever.

Present day: So I reached over and hit the eject button, I did it out of futility and not hope or expectation. Something happened at that moment that was so unexpected, it shocked me. The CD player made a grinding noise, and suddenly the CD popped out.  To say that I was shocked, would be an understatement. I was astonished and immediately praised God for such a simple blessing.

The rest of the weekend, I drove around and listened to CD’s in the car with great joy! Ashlee was also astonished, and said “what did you finally hit that button enough times?” “NO” I said, “I told God I wished the stupid thing would work, and you know what, He was concerned with the little thing that was bothering me.” For some reason today, he chose to do something about it!

As the holidays approach, we’re all searching for that perfect something to give those we love.  Each year brings a new dilemma when we try to find something for that older person in our lives.  Whether they are still living on their own, in assisted living, nursing home or other care facility, it seems to be a difficult task finding just the right item for each one’s situation.

I currently have a loved one who is in an assisted living environment with constant 24 hour care.  Now at 84, she is unable to leave the facility, so she especially welcomes visits from friends and relatives.  She was always an avid reader, but her eyes have deteriorated so much that she can no longer read – even the books with large print are difficult.

Since she lives in another state, I don’t see her as often as I would like to and send gifts to her for holidays, birthdays and special events.  I have sent flowers, food gift baskets, fruit baskets, yarn for her knitting projects, candy, etc.  But this year, I have found a unique gift.  I am sending her a portable, compact CD player that can be used with or without headphones.  Why, you ask?  So I can give her audio books.  With this gift, she will be able to listen to all of her favorite authors as well as music.

The following is based on a true story.

Dennis LeRoy of Proctor, Minnesota felt the need for a couple of brewskies, so he hopped onto his “drink ‘n drive La-z-Boy” and headed over to the neighborhood tavern.

He had worked long and hard to perfect his black and blue lounger and it cranked right up. It’s powered by  a Briggs and Stratton lawnmower engine, has superior headlights, a side mounted mirror, cup holders, CD player, speakers … aaand a drag-racer style steering wheel.

Yes indeed, anybody would be jealous of this bad boy.

Dennis enjoys hanging out with the gang at the tavern. He stayed for a while chattin’ it up like always, only soon it was time to go. He was driving home, minding his own business when … wham!

The police charged Dennis with drunk driving and plowing into a parked car.

“I would never of hit the car and made it home alright if it weren’t for this woman jumping into  my lap.”

His chair has been impounded and will be auctioned on eBay. Dennis is on two years probation.

BTW, Dennis wasn’t hurt but I bet he’s mad as hell about losing his chair.

This is a very weird looking CD player. It looks like a head of a duck when a CD is set. (Why a CD player now you ask? I’ll write a post in Johnnyholland.)

There’s a round body that rolls and a black speaker. the speaker is attached to the body at its axis and it rolls around the body.

The functions are just play/pause/next/previous and volume up/down. To turn up the volume, you roll the body so that the “beak” opens up. When you turn it off, just let it stop quacking.

That’s it. I wouldn’t stop rolling it for a while I had it on my desk. And my kids would never leave there.

Zwei der Eingänge sind mit unabhängigen Mikrofonkanalsystemen ausgestattet, bei denen Lautstärke und 3-Band-EQ separat geregelt werden können. Kanal 1 des DJ-Bereichs kann ebenfalls als Mikrofoneingang mit 3-Band-EQ genutzt werden. MC-Einlagen und Vocals können mit den vier Mikrofoneffekten Reverb, Echo+Verb, Octaver und Pitch aufgewertet werden. Die Send/Return-Anschlüsse sind identisch mit denen des DJM-800. Über diese Anschlüsse können weitere Systeme verbunden und noch mehr Effekte eingesetzt werden.

Das erste System auf dem Markt mit erweiterter Talk-Over-Funktion steckt im DJM-5000. Der DJM-5000 ermöglicht zwei Typen von Talk-Over, wobei die Lautstärke mit einem Drehregler gesteuert wird. Mit der erweiterten Talk-Over-Funktion werden Mikrofonansagen verständlich, ohne dass die Gesamtlautstärke der Musik gesenkt wird. Während beim normalen Talk-Over automatisch der Gesamtpegel der Musik gesenkt wird, wird beim erweiterten Talk-Over nur der mittlere Frequenzbereich leiser. So werden Beiträge von DJs, MCs und Sängern nahtlos integriert, ohne die durch die Musik aufgebaute Atmosphäre zu beeinträchtigen.

Der eingebaute Sound Maximizer für dynamischeren und klareren Sound überzeugt zusätzlich. Mit dem Sound Maximizer kann der Klang anhand von zwei Drehknöpfen optimal auf den Veranstaltungsort abgestimmt werden: 1) Dynamics – kräftigerer Sound durch Verstärkung des Tiefbereichs und 2) Clarity – bessere Trennung und Betonung des Mittel- und Hochbereichs für frischeren und klareren Sound auch bei geringerer Lautstärke.

Die digitale Verknüpfbarkeit ist durch die vollständig zuweisbare USB-MIDI-Funktion für Konnektivität und Softwaresteuerung gegeben. Im Slip-Modus können DJs Tricks vorführen und anschließend ohne Unterbrechung zum ursprünglichen Flow zurückkehren. Die Kombination all dieser Merkmale macht den CDJ-900 zum perfekten Tool für eine maximale Leistung.

Der DJM-5000 – “Das Mutterschiff”

Der DJM-5000 ist ein Mixer mit 96-kHz/24-Bit-Digitalaudio in Studioqualität. Wie beim DJM-1000 wird das analoge Signal des Media Players mit 96 kHz/24 Bit digitalisiert und in bestmöglicher Qualität für den Digitalmix bereitgestellt. Das Mixing erfolgt dann per 32-Bit-Digitalsignal-Verarbeitung, sodass die Klangqualität nahezu vollständig beibehalten wird.

Er besitzt eine Dreiwege USB-Audio-Schnittstelle für Direkteingang von PC. Kein Kabelgewirr, keine separate Soundkarte, kein unnötiger Aufwand. Da der Mixer mit einer 6-Kanal-USB-Audio-Schnittstelle (drei Stereopaare) ausgestattet ist, kann Musik über die USB-Verbindung direkt von einem PC wiedergegeben werden – eine zusätzliche externe Soundkarte ist hierfür nicht erforderlich.

Außerdem ist eine Master/Zone-Ausgabe zur Beschallung von zwei Bereichen mit einem Mixer integriert. Der DJM-5000 ist mit zwei unabhängigen Ausgabesystemen ausgestattet, sodass zwei Bereiche mit unterschiedlicher Musik versorgt werden können. So kann mit nur einem Mixer beispielsweise gleichzeitig die Haupt-Tanzfläche mit energiegeladener Dance Music beschallt werden und die Lounge mit entspannten Chill-out-Klängen. Auch das über den Mikrofonausgang ausgegebene Signal (zum Beispiel Ansagen, MC-Einlagen oder Vocals) kann wahlweise in beiden oder in nur einer Zone wiedergegeben werden.

Auf den Mikrofonkanälen stehen erweiterte MC-Funktionen und vier Mikrofoneffekte zur Verfügung. Die drei Mikrofonkanäle sind besonders einfach und komfortabel zu bedienen. Zwei der Eingänge sind mit unabhängigen Mikrofonkanalsystemen ausgestattet, bei denen Lautstärke und 3-Band-EQ separat geregelt werden können. Kanal 1 des DJ-Bereichs kann ebenfalls als Mikrofoneingang mit 3-Band-EQ genutzt werden. MC-Einlagen und Vocals können mit den vier Mikrofoneffekten Reverb, Echo+Verb, Octaver und Pitch aufgewertet werden. Die Send/Return-Anschlüsse sind identisch mit denen des DJM-800. Über diese Anschlüsse können weitere Systeme verbunden und noch mehr Effekte eingesetzt werden.

Das erste System auf dem Markt mit erweiterter Talk-Over-Funktion steckt im DJM-5000. Der DJM-5000 ermöglicht zwei Typen von Talk-Over, wobei die Lautstärke mit einem Drehregler gesteuert wird. Mit der erweiterten Talk-Over-Funktion werden Mikrofonansagen verständlich, ohne dass die Gesamtlautstärke der Musik gesenkt wird. Während beim normalen Talk-Over automatisch der Gesamtpegel der Musik gesenkt wird, wird beim erweiterten Talk-Over nur der mittlere Frequenzbereich leiser. So werden Beiträge von DJs, MCs und Sängern nahtlos integriert, ohne die durch die Musik aufgebaute Atmosphäre zu beeinträchtigen.

Der eingebaute Sound Maximizer für dynamischeren und klareren Sound überzeugt zusätzlich. Mit dem Sound Maximizer kann der Klang anhand von zwei Drehknöpfen optimal auf den Veranstaltungsort abgestimmt werden: 1) Dynamics – kräftigerer Sound durch Verstärkung des Tiefbereichs und 2) Clarity – bessere Trennung und Betonung des Mittel- und Hochbereichs für frischeren und klareren Sound auch bei geringerer Lautstärke.

Die digitale Verknüpfbarkeit ist durch die vollständig zuweisbare USB-MIDI-Funktion für Konnektivität und Softwaresteuerung gegeben. Mit 61 verschiedenen Drehreglern und Tasten des DJM-5000 können Steuerdaten als MIDI-Signal über eine einzige USB-Verbindung an einen PC übertragen werden, um jede beliebige DJ-Software zu steuern, die MIDI-Mapping unterstützt. Somit kann der Mixer als besonders flexibler und leistungsstarker MIDI-Controller verwendet werden.

Er kann ebenfalls Musik von verschiedenen Quellen wie CD und USB-Speichermedien abspielen, und auch er wird mit rekordbox™, der revolutionären Musikdatenbank-Management-Software für DJs, ausgeliefert.

Rekordbox™ (für Mac und PC) basiert auf dem Pioneer-Konzept „Vorbereiten und Performen“ und funktioniert wie die führende Musikdatenbank-Management-Software, aber ist wesentlich DJ-freundlicher und lässt der Kreativität viel mehr Spielraum.

Dear Car Prowler,

While it is not likely, I hope that the money from my cheap, Kenwood CD player is used to feed your family.  Studies show that kids who eat a proper breakfast and eat nutritious meals are more likely to stay in school and test better than those who don’t.   Really, I hope your kids’ futures are brither than yours.  God knows we don’t need anymore uneducated junkies trolling the streets looking for a fix. 

There is something to be said about your taste in music.  If I was high as hell, I would have stolen Animal Collective, but you left it laying on my seat.  You passed over musical geniuses like the Black Keys and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.  Instead, you chose to take Ramona Falls and a burnt copy of the tribute cd to Mississippi John Hurt.  Oh, robber, what obscure and eclectic musical taste you have.  You took the time to be picky with my CDs?  How very Seattle of you.  I’m almost impressed.  In another life, we may have been able to enjoy a show together.

In your desperate need for money, you have greatly inconvenienced me.  It’s a completely unnerving feeling to know that someone was rifling through my private property just feet from my door, while I slept.  I can live without a cd player, but the damage you have done to my  dashbaord, heating and A/C will require fixing, which is my time and money.

So with that, feed your kids breakfast and go to rehab, you dumbass.

Recently I was looking around through old stuff and I found a bunch of interesting things. An old record player, a bunch of records (Including a couple 78’s!), an eight track player, and a few eight track tapes. But one that stuck out (due to it’s portability) is a CD player. I have an iPhone with all my music on it, but something about using this CD player seemed appealing.

I found a few CDs to listen to (PUSA’s first album, Smashing Pumpking – Siamese Dream, Foo Fighters – Nothing Left To Lose, and Blues Traveller – four) and I’ve found that when it’s not as easy to skip around to random tracks you enjoy listening to whole albums more.

Another cool thing is it plays MP3 CDs, so I burned a CD with about 115 MP3s, but I forgot to organize them into folders, so if I want to hear a certain song, I might have to click next 100 times, no fun!
