For some reason, I had the feeling that this day was going to be special in one way or the other. And yes, it started off with a gorgeous sunrise over the Opera-building in Oslo, and after having been in the darkness during the winter, it was a welcoming sight. It is not the first time it has happened, the sunrise I mean, but today I was surrounded by only silence, and grabbed the opportunity to enjoy it fully.

(Oh, and later, the sun provided an excuse for me to put on sunglasses – indoors – because of the suns reflections on my computer screen. Which is fun, due to the large selection of sunglasses at work.)

But now for the small extraordinary incident. I had finished 2 hours of squash with David, and was eager to get to the train as soon as possible due to two very very sore feet.

Instead I decided to walk to Nationaltheateret station, and… suddenly I see fire in a tree, hidden away behind the Theatre. At first sight it looks like a lamp with a candle, so I only look for a second before I walk on by. Fortunately, I am not a person who walks with her eyes stuck to the ground, if I was I would have missed what most people around me missed.

Only when you’re on the top should you lower your gaze…

Yay! Up, up in the sky, a tiny hot air balloon rises and rises towards the sky. I stop and stare at it for several minutes, left in solitude at the entrance of the Theatre. I quickly glanced at people walking by, but no one else seemed to notice the extra light that lit the sky. Maybe it was just me and the one that set it off in the first place? What a small thing, you might think, ah, but I care not of your pessimism right now. If it makes my mood cheerful and my mouth shape into a grin: I’ll take all the unexpected, small hot air balloons in the world.

I’m thinking: sometimes it is good not to only aim for the direction you think you are supposed to head on to, but dare to take a little detour. Life might not be a box of chocolates, but hot air balloons can warm you up inside when you least expect it.

Even in -15 degrees celcius…nah, especially in -15 degrees celcius

Well the lease is signed, and the plants have been bought, and the sofas are being shipped in so its CHOCKS AWAY for the Snap Roll Cafe!

We’re aiming to open on 9th January….lots to do and Bea is in Spain at the moment which means she’s remotely managing the food ordering and interior design.  All good fun!  Still she’ll bring back some great ideas for specials…

SETELAH BERTAHUN2 MENGATAKAN PADA KHALAYAK BAHWA KEMOTERAPI ADALAH CARA SATU2NYA UNTUK MENCOBA (KATA KUNCI: MENCOBA) DAN MENGHILANGKAN PENYAKIT CANCER, JOHN HOPKINS AKHIRNNYA MULAI MENGATAKAN: ” ADA CARA ALTERNATIF”.

1. Tiap orang mempunyai sel kanker. Sel kanker ini tidak tampak dalam pemeriksaan standar sampai sel2 ini berkembang biak hingga berjuta jumlahnya. Pada saat dokter memberitahu pasien bahwa “tidak ada sel kanker lagi” setelah menjalani pengobatan, itu artinya pemeriksaan yang dilakukan sudah tidak dapat mendeteksi sel2 cancer karena sel2 tersebut sudah berada di bawah ukuran/jumlah yang dapat terdeteksi.

2. Sel cancer tumbuh antara 6 sampai lebih dari 10 kali dalam jangka waktu hidup manusia.

3. Pada saat kekebalan tubuh seseorang tinggi, sel2 cancer akan dihancurkan dan dicegah sehingga tidak dapat bertambah banyak dan membentuk tumor.

4. Pada saat seseorang menderita cancer ini menunjukkan bahwa orang tersebut mengalami beberapa kekurangan nutrisi. Ini dapat terjadi karena
faktor genetika, lingkungan, makanan dan cara hidup.

5. Untuk menanggulangi kekurangan nutrisi dan memperkuat sistem
kekebalan tubuh dapat ditempuh dengan merubah diet (cara makan) dan
menambahkan asupan suplemen.

6. Kemoterapi, meracuni sel cancer yang bertumbuh cepat, tapi pada saat yang sama juga menghancurkan pertumbuhan sel sehat dalam tulang sumsum, gastro- intestinal tracts (saluran pencernaan) dll, dan dapat
menyebabkan kerusakan pada organ2 lain, seperti hati, ginjal, jantung,
paru2 dll.

7. Sedangkan radiasi, bersamaan dengan fungsinya yang menghancurkan
sel cancer, juga menyebabkan luka bakar, meninggalkan bekas luka, dan merusak sel, tissues, dan organ yang sehat.

8. Perawatan dini dengan kemoterapi dan radiasi dapat mengurangi
ukuran tumor. Namun penerapan kemoterapi dan radiasi yang berkepanjangan tidak akan menghasilkan pengurangan tumor lebih
lanjut.

9. Pada saat tubuh menanggung beban racun yang berlebihan dari kemoterapi dan radiasi, sistem kekebalan tubuh akan terancam atau hancur, karena itulah seseorang akan mengalami berbagai macam infeksi dan komplikasi.

10. Kemoterapi dan radiasi dapat menyebabkan sel kanker bermutasi
dan menjadi tahan dan sulit untuk dihancurkan. Operasi juga dapat menyebabkan sel cancer menyebar ke tempat2 lainnya.

11. Cara efektif untuk melawan cancer adalah dengan membuatnya
kelaparan, yaitu dengan cara tidak memberikan makanan yg dibutuhkan dalam sel untuk dapat berkembang biak.

SEL CANCER MEMAKAN:

1. Gula. Dengan meniadakan gula dalam asupan
makanan itu berarti menghilangkan makanan utama sel cancer. Pengganti
gula seperti NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful, dll dibuat dari Aspartame, dan ini
berbahaya.
Pengganti yang lebih natural yaitu madu Manuka atau molasses,
tapi dalam jumlah yang sedikit. Garam meja mengandung bahan kimia tambahan untuk menjadikannya putih. Alternatif yang lebih baik yaitu Bragg’s aminos atau garam laut.

2. Susu menyebabkan tubuh menghasilkan mucus, terutama di dalam
gastro-intestinal tract (saluran pencernaan). Mucus juga makanan sel
kanker. Dengan meniadakan susu dan menggantikannya dengan susu kedelai
(tanpa gula) sel-sel cancer akan kelaparan.

3. Sel2 cancer berkembang dengan baik di lingkungan yang tinggi asam.
Dietari yang berbasis daging sangat tinggi kadar asamnya. Oleh karena
itu lebih baik mengkonsumsi ikan, sedikit ayam daripada sapi atau babi.
Daging juga mengandung antibiotic, hormon tambahan dan parasit2 untuk peternakan. Kesemuanya ini sangat berbahaya, terutama untuk penderita cancer.

4. Dietari yang 80% berbasis sayuran segar dan sarinya (jus), whole grain , kacang2an dan sedikit buah akan membantu menjadikan tubuh dalam situasi alkaline. 20% dari persentasi tadi dapat diambil dari makanan yang dimasak termasuk kecambah. Sari sayuran segar mengandung enzim2 aktif/hidup
yang dapat diserap dengan mudah dan dapat mencapai titik selular dalam
waktu 15 menit untuk memberi makan dan mempercepat pertumbuhan sel2
sehat.
Guna memperoleh enzim2 aktif untuk membangun sel sehat, minumlah sari
sayuran segar (hampir semua jenis sayuran, termasuk kecambah) dan makanlah sejumlah sayuran mentah 2-3 kali sehari. Enzim2 ini hancur pada
temperature 40 derajat Celcius.

5. Hindari kopi, teh dan coklat, karena mengandung kafein yang tinggi.  Teh hijau lebih baik sebagai alternatifnya, dan mempunyai unsur2 yang memerangi cancer. Air, yang paling baik yaitu air yang sudah di saring
(filtered) guna menhindari racun2 dan kandungan2 logam dalam air keran.
Hindari air yang sudah melewati proses distilasi karena mengandung asam.

6. Protein dari daging sulit untuk di cerna dan membutuhkan enzim
pencerna yang cukup banyak. Kandungan daging yang tidak tercerna dan
tertinggal di saluran pencernaan akhirnya akan membusuk dan menambah
timbunan racun.

7. Dinding sel2 kanker mempunyai selaput protein yang kuat.
Dengan menghindari makanan mengandung daging, tubuh membutuhkan jauh lebih sedikit enzim untuk mencerna makanan, sehingga sebagian besar enzim dapat menyerang dinding protein pada sel2 cancer dan selanjutnya memungkinkan bagi sel2 tubuh untuk menghancurkan sel2 cancer.

8. Beberapa suplemen menaikan system kekebalan tubuh (IP6, Floressence, Essiac, anti-oxidants, vitamins, mineral, EFAs dll) sehingga memungkinkan sel2 tubuh sehat untuk menghancurkan sel2 cancer. Suplemen lain seperti Vitamin E diketahui menyebabkan apoptosis, atau sel mati terprogram, yaitu metode natural dari tubuh untuk membuang sel2 yang rusak, yang tidak dikehendaki, atau tidak dibutuhkan.

9. Cancer adalah penyakit yang melibatkan pikiran, tubuh dan jiwa.
Jiwa yang proaktif dan positif akan membantu penderita cancer untuk sembuh. Kemarahan, tidak dapat memaafkan, dan kegetiran menjadikan tubuh dalam situasi yang tegang dan berkadar asam tinggi. Belajar untuk berjiwa lembut dan pemaaf. Belajar untuk bersantai dan menikmati hidup.

10. Sel cancer tidak dapat berkembang dalam lingkungan yang tinggi oksigen. Berolahraga setiap hari dan menghirup nafas dalam2 dapat membantu asupan oksigen dalam tahap selular. Terapi oksigen juga salah
satu cara yang digunakan untuk menghancurkan sel2 cancer.

Jangan menggunakan tempat plastic di microwave, Jangan memasukan botol air ke freezer, Jangan menggunakan ‘plastic wrap’ di microwave.

Dioxin adalah jenis bahan kimia yang menyebabkan cancer, terutama cancer

Jangan membekukan botol plastik dengan air di dalamnya karena ini melepaskan kandungan dioxin yang terdapat dalam plastik.

Baru2 ini Dr. Edward Fujimoto, Wellness Program Manager di Rumah Sakit
Castle, hadir di satu program televisi untuk menjelaskan bahaya kesehatan
ini. Beliau menjelaskan sebaiknya tidak memanaskan makanan di dalam
microwave menggunakan tempat plastik.

Terlebih untuk makanan yang mengandung lemak. Beliau juga mengatakan
bahwa kombinasi lemak, panas tinggi dan plastic melepaskan dioxin ke dalam makanan yang akhirnya akan masuk ke dalam sel2 tubuh.
Beliau menghimbau untuk memanaskan makanan di microwave dengan Corning Ware, Pyrex atau keramik. Produk kertas tidak begitu jelek namun kita tidak tau apa yang ada di kertas tersebut. Lebih aman menggunakan produk2 di atas. Dia mengingatkan kita bahwa beberapa waktu lalu restoran cepat saji beralih dari produk foam ke kertas. Hal ini juga disebabkan karena masalah dioxin.

Beliau juga mengungkapkan tentang plastic wrap seperti Saran, juga berbahaya untuk digunakan menutup makanan yang akan di panaskan dalam
microwave. Panas yang tinggi dapat menyebabkan zat2 beracun meleleh dan
menetes ke dalam makanan. Tutuplah makanan dengan paper towel (tissue
dapur).

I came across a great website this morning if you happen to be on the WeightWatchers journey. For me, I think it’s probably one of the easiest weight loss programs around as it is pliable to any situation you happen to find yourself in. The name of the site is “Dotti’s Weight Loss Zone“. She has lost, regained some and lost again, but what is really super about her site is she has umpteen restaurants where she has broken all the food into point values. I was able to find nutritional info on her site that I couldn’t even find on the company site itself. While she is an obvious WeightWatcher, she has everything broken down whether you’re watching points, calories, carbs or fat grams. Her story and photos are very inspirational, and she’s also got a couple of recipe books in pdf format you can download. I think it’s a terrific resource.

I guess for a lot of celebrities lately, the answer to weight loss comes in a little can of liquid. I had heard they were coming out with this, but didn’t know it was available now. The drink is called “Celcius” and has been shown to burn up to 100 calories per can.

Janice Haley, Founder of Celsius, says that the product works “by raising metabolism and providing sustained energy. Celsius drinks sustain energy and calorie burning with EGCG from green tea, ginger, B vitamins, and chromium, and caffeine and contain no sugar, high fructose corn syrup, or artificial colors.” It comes in assortment of flavors. I’m all for anything that burns calories from my eating or drinking it! It appears to be available either by ordering, or supposedly you can pick it up at your nearest Walgreens or GNC. I’ll have to look the next time I’m there. One review says that while the ingredients appear to help sustain energy and rev metabolism, it says the individual ingredients would be more effective taken naturally on their own, vs. extracts, etc. Of course they have their own weight loss supplement they’re pushing.

And now, TA-DA! Whether you’re constantly dieting or just watching what you eat for health reasons, we all at some point need a little “inspiration” and “motivation“. One of the ways to keep motivated is by watching the scale go down. Sometimes, even when we’ve been good and done all the right things, it needs a little help. This is my solution: 5 ways to cheat the weight loss scale for motivation and inspiration.

1. Weigh yourself first thing in the morning. You almost always weigh less in the morning than later through out the day no matter how good you are.
2. Make sure you go to the bathroom first, no matter what time of day you weigh yourself. A gallon of water (urine) weighs 8 lbs. You do the math. If you’ve ever heard the comedian Ron White, then you’ve probably heard his joke about being one good “poop” away from a new size. Think about it.
3. If you must weigh yourself with clothes on (like in a weight watchers meeting) when you get home take your clothes off and weigh them. Deduct.
4. If at all avoidable, never weigh with shoes on. If you must, follow instructions for 3 above.
5. Never weigh yourself with wet hair, unless you’re already skinny enough for people to say “she can’t weigh ____lbs. soaking wet” or your hair is so short you’ve been mistaken for a guy.

That’s all I’ve got for today. If you know more ways to “weigh” for motivation and inspiration, I’d love to hear them. Be sure and leave your secrets below. LOL

Okay, so I read 2 books yesterday, if you notice I updated my list. I’m reading the third Mediator book and I’m on page 106 or so.
Guy(s), it’s occured to me the only entries I’ve actually written so far (aside from the first one or so) are all about books. So I should tell you now that they will not ALL be about books. Like right now, for instance:

Guess what? I’m going out west for August! I won’t tell you where out west, just in case you’re a creeper, but I will tell you I’m v., v. excited about this. I have family out there and will be visiting for a while. I’ve been there twice before, once in the summer, (the first time I went, I was going into either 5th or 6th grade, I don’t remember which) and once in the winter (the winter before last).

First thing we’ll do is create a class called ConversionFormulas.

Inside this class we’ll create two methods. One to convert from Farenheit to Celcius, and another to convert from Celcius to Farenheit.

Inside your ConversionFormulas class create these methods:

Let’s analyze the first line of each method for a bit. When you create a method you can give the method parameters to use. Let me explain what this means:

Let’s say you’re the boss of a sushi chef. You buy him a new knife one day and instruct him on how to gut the fish, cut the fish, scale it, cook it, etc. The chef knows that how to act when he recieves a fish. His instructions were explained by his boss. One day he gets a fish and proceeds to do everything a chef is supposed to do.

It’s a similar situation with methods. You build methods that will work with other controls,methods,etc. Our ConvertTemperatureFarenheit method knows it will recieve 2 textboxes and that’s how we have built it.

You’ll see why we did this in a second.

In your Form1 class create an instance of your ConversionFormulas class:

Now go to your design tab of Form1 and double click on one button, then double click on the other.

Two onClick method will generate, empty.

Planet yang belum diberi nama itu besarnya satu setengah kali Bumi dan lima kali lebih pejal, ungkap tim astronom Eropa di Observatorium Selatan Eropa di Garching, Jerman.“Kami sudah menaksir bahwa suhu rata-rata super-Bumi ini antara 0 hingga 40 derajat Celsius, karena itu air dalam keadaan cair,” kata Stephane Udry dari Observatorium Jenewa.

Población que no supera los 10 millones de habitantes: 1 de cada cuatro suecos tiene su propia empresa; en mi opinión, cualquier sueco toca un instrumento y probablemente 1 de cada cuatro tenga un grupo de música; es sabido que el brit pop saca muchos jóvenes talentosos, pero no creo que Suecia se quede muy atrás…

Qué pasa con los suecos¿? Son genios o tienen mucho tiempo libre¿? Este post va dedicado a todos los personajes célebres del país de las rubias, que han pasado a la historia por una aportación significativa. Seguro que muchos os sorpredenderán…

• Anders Celsius: Sí, efectivamente. Los hombres del tiempo cuando nos hablan de temperaturas en Europa, lo hacen con la escala Celsius. Ese Celsius no era un sabio del imperio romano, si no un astrónomo sueco que vivió durante el siglo XVIII = 18 (información para los jóvenes de hoy que no deben tener ni papa de los números romanos, cosa que encuentro comprensible por su insignificante importancia). La escala de Celsius va de 0 a 100. Menor a 0 el agua se congela y a los 100 grados llega al punto de ebullición. Su colega cohetanio, el alemán Fahrenheit (no tiene nada que ver con el gordo de las hamburguesas), ideó una escalera que iba de los 32 a los 212 grados y que utilizan en otros países (en esos países también utilizan medidas como los galones, libras y otras formas de complicarse la existencia).  
• Alfred Nobel: Todo el mundo sabe lo que son los premios Nobel pero pocos saben quién es el pájaro por el cual le dieron este nombre. Nobel, químico sueco del siglo XIX (19 para esos jóvenes del párrafo anterior), fue el inventor de la dinamita. No fueron los chinos, ni los cowboys del oeste, sinó los pacíficos suecos que no se meten en una guerra ni que los maten! Por su sentimiento de culpa por haber inventado un arma de destrucción masiva…el tipo creó una fundación para apoyar a todos aquellos que hubieran hecho algo en beneficio de la Humanidad en los terrenos de la Física, la Química, la Medicina, la Literatura y la Paz. De ahí los premios Nobel…Otra curiosidad…por qué no un Nobel para las Matemáticas?? Pues la respuesta es porque su mujer lo dejó y se fue con un matemático…así que él (con un par de cojones), dijo que ni un duro para los jodidos matemáticos!
• Sven Wingquist: Para los amantes de los cojinetes (no quiero decir cojines pequeños) este individuo debe ser una especie de semi diós!
• Erik Wallenberg and Ruben Rausing: Estos dos amiguetes suecos se sacaron de la chistera los Tetra Pak…
• Gideon Sundbäck: Corrían los primeros años del siglo XX (recordar jóvenes, 20), cuando el sueco Sundbäck en 1913 creó la cremallera que hoy todos utilizamos de forma regular y con un movimiento automático cuando desenfundamos. Los americanos se habrán colgado la medalla con la patente, pero todos sabemos que fueron Gideon y Peter los diseñadores.
• Gustaf Erik Pasch : Este crack fue el que tuvo la brillante idea de poner el fósforo en el lado de una cajetilla y así evitar accidentes cuando los caballeros se encendían sus cigarros. Se ve que más de se había prendido en llamas por culpa de las cerillas antiguas. Este invento, de una simplicidad que asusta, llegó a copar el 75% del mercado mundial. Crack!!!
• Lars Magnus Ericsson: Ericsson nos suena a móvil…pero el señor Ericsson fue el que inventó el teléfono tal como lo vemos en la actualidad. Poder hablar y escuchar desde un mismo aparato…antes, se necesitaban dos piezas separadas.
• Nils Ivar Bohlin: Este personaje es el que le dió la credibilidad a Volvo como la marca más segura de coches del mundo. Bohlin se inventó un cinturón que a partir de 1959 salvó una vida cada 6 minutos.
• Karl von Liné: Considerado el creador de la clasificación de los seres vivos o taxonomía, desarrolló un sistema de nomenclatura binomial (1731) que se convertiría en clásico, basado en la utilización de un primer término, escrito en letras mayúsculas, indicativa del género y una segunda parte, correspondiente al nombre específico de la especie descrita, escrita en letra minúscula. Por otro lado, agrupó los géneros en familias, las familias en clases, las clases en tipos (fila) y los tipos en reinos. Efectivamente, esto es un copy paste!
• Skype: Uno de los grandes inventos del siglo 21 es sin duda, Skype. Este es un software que permite llamar de forma gratuita a través de Internet. La compañía fue fundada en 2003 por los suecos Niklas Zennström y Janus Friis, también creadores de Kazaa.
• Coca Cola: a mi me llegaron a contar que la Coca Cola es sueca…no tengo pruebas para demostrarlo y tampoco las he encontrado en la red, pero se dice que la Coca Cola se la inventó un sueco que poco tiempo después vendió la patente a los Estados Unidos, tras conocerse la adicción del Papa de la época por esta bebida. Por miedo, dijo no tener nada que ver y fueron los americanos quienes se colgaron la medalla una vez más. Si alguien encuentra información para dar credibilidad a esta hipótesis sería fantástico.

De momento y hasta aquí, los inventos de los suecos…no descarto hacer un nuevo post sobre el tema ya que me gusta especialmente.
