Networks classified as 3G networks operate on the IEEE 802.11 protocols and were primarily developed

Networks classified as 3G networks operate on the IEEE 802.11 protocols and were primarily developed for the use of data transmission over wireless networks. 3G is the third generation of telecommunications specifications laid down by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). At its most basic core, 3G enables network operators a vast range of services and technologies to improve services and allow for higher capacities on networks. This is achieved through spectral efficiency; spectral efficiency defines how a particular bandwidth or frequency is used in the transmission of data in the form of voice, video telephony and general data transmissions like that of the Internet. The IEEE 802.11 networks are primarily short range and high bandwidth for data transmission and can also be used for telephone calls and video calls.
3G provides an improved speed of transmission: the average speed has not yet been standardized. Many users will be quoted different speeds according to the service provider’s documentation. As a general rule of thumb, a 3G user in a stationary position will be able to transfer at a minimum of 2 Mbit/s to a maximum of 14.4 Mbit/s. These rates change as the user moves through varying cellular towers and access points via the 3G network. At a walking pace users can expect to have a maximum transfer of: 384 kbit/s or in a moving car at 128 kbit/s. 3G also incorporates the use of HSPA for fast transmissions; HSPA is a combination of two separate mobile telephone protocols. One is for the uplink transfer (HSUPA) and the other for downlink (HSDPA) transfers.
MobilityPass 3G mobile Internet access delivers up to 7.2 Mbit/s transfer rates using the HSDPA protocol for increased speed and reliability. MobilityPass includes in every mobile Internet package privacy and confidentiality of all customer information as well as increased security for access to the mobile Internet. The beauty of the MobilityPass packages is that if the Internet is not used the customer is not billed unlike most of the competition that bills the customer regardless of usage and transfers. This makes MobilityPass a logical choice for business people around the world especially since MobilityPass has access in over 75 countries.
The standard for 3G has fallen into the UMTS or W-CDMA specification and is used in most 3G networks in one form or another. There are five other interfaces for the technologies governing the wireless Internet and telephone industries, although many are only used in remote locations that have not yet upgraded to the 3G network. The upgrade process is a long arduous one as the pre-3G technologies needed to be almost completely replaced. In many areas and countries the radio frequencies used for 3G and UMTS are completely different than those used for previous technologies. Licensing needs to obtained on these new radio frequencies which has been a problem for some companies and countries as the costs can be staggering.
While new networks need to be built and designed in areas lacking the available technology to build on, 3G has taken a decent portion of the world’s data services. In the countries where 3G was first launched, Japan and South Korea, 3G subscribers now account for 70% of the market. In countries such as the US and Europe it is closer to 30% and rising on a monthly basis.

The first mobile phones where actually two way radios systems using telephone systems to communicate

The first mobile phones where actually two way radios systems using telephone systems to communicate; however, mobile users could not dial in specific numbers and technically are not considered cellular phones. The technology used by the two way radio systems is the basis for all cellular phone technology now in existence. Cell phones are called cell phones due to that fact that each part of the coverage area is split into “cells” of hexagonal shape and the initial idea was developed at Bell Labs in 1947. The proposed structure of the cells had transmission towers that broadcast in three directions into three adjacent cells and were placed on the edges of the cells instead of the center for optimum coverage.

This technology was not further developed as the hardware needed had not been developed; frequencies had not been allocated for use and the technology remained mostly underdeveloped until the 1960s. There were a few instances of direct dialing from a phone as far back as the 1950s but was limited to particular areas and service was rare in most cities. The MTA, Mobile Telephone System A, was released in Sweden in 1956 by the Ericsson Company and was the first independent dialing system introduced to the market. It did have the disadvantage of having a very heavy phone weight of over 80 pounds. At the same time a Russian was developing a “radiophone” that was wearable and had an effective cell range of about 40 miles. In 1970 there was service for the phones in over 30 USSR cities; this was the first year of analog cell phones in the US which was introduced by Motorola.

Also in 1970 was the advent of cell handoffs which allows for different service areas to exchange the phone call between them and was developed by Bell Labs; the modern version of this is called roaming. Soon after in 1971, AT&T petitioned the FCC for the use of cellular phone networks which was finally approved in 1982 after a long and arduous debate. The first commercially and publicly available network of cellular services was released in Finland in 1971 and was called ARP; this network and its protocols is referred to as the 0G generation of cellular technologies. All of these early networks used analog transmissions until 1990 when digital transmissions took over in the cellular arena rushing in the advent of the 2G network protocols and technologies. Prior to the 2G network phones resembled “bricks” and while they could be ported from place to place did not bode well in personal mobile communication.

The 2G network saw a drastic rise in the number of people using cellular phones and networks ushering in the more modern look and size of today’s cellular phones. The first digital networks superseded the 1G analog networks and brought to the public SMS text messaging as well as the ability to retrieve and use media and content from companies such as downloadable ringtones. Due to this rise in the text messaging and downloading as well as an increase in the need for web access and data usage on cellular networks the 3G standard was pursued. The 3G network, which can be accessed using MobilityPass mobile broadband Internet services, was not standardized in technology but one of the requirements of data transmission.

The main area of concern in using wireless Internet and signals for networking is the signal strengt

The main area of concern in using wireless Internet and signals for networking is the signal strength. Signal transmission strength determines the area that can access the Internet through the transmission towers or antennas. Starting with a home or WLAN in a community or business office, there are several options which an individual can use to improve their signal strength. The first option is to simply move closer to the transmission point; either the wireless router or transmission tower/antenna. In the case of a desktop computer this will be an unlikely solution, but for laptops and mobile computing devices, this should help with the signal strength. If the desktop is using an internal card, either PCI or PCI-e, check on the age and model of the card. Odds are that replacing the card with a USB modem will help tremendously.

The best part of a USB modem is that it can use an extension cable to enable the end user to place the receiving USB modem closer to the signal tower or transmission point. Should this not improve the signal, consider using a high gain antenna to capture more of the signal being transmitted that can then be directed to the Internet device. Since the Internet signal is a radio signal it operates just as a television set does, not connected to cable of course. The antenna needs to be in the line of sight of the transmission tower or antenna. Essentially the user needs to be able to see the tower for best results, but this is not always true.

If the position of the tower is known and is only blocked by a few trees, then the antenna may be placed in close approximation to the location of the tower. The cable from the antenna on top of the building to receive the Internet signal can then be brought into the building and by using a wireless router, split to all of the home computers. The taller that antenna the better; in some instances a high gain satellite dish would also work as they are simply modified antennas. Working in a home wireless network has far more options than on a mobile wireless Internet but, some tricks can be applied to improving the signal in a mobile wireless setting or using a wireless Internet connection in a home or office.

The best way to improve a mobile or completely wireless Internet connection is through the use of an antenna just as with a home solution. The difference here is that the antenna will need to be placed on the exterior of the car, just like with the original cell phones. Small antennas may be purchased either at a local store or through the provider of the wireless Internet in some cases. The signal strength in wireless Internet settings is determined by the provider and the FCC, in some cases they cannot increase the strength from the towers due to regulations. In other cases it is simply the lack of towers the provider has at its disposal. MobilityPass has towers in over 75 countries around the world to improve signal strength and access to the Internet. The user can choose Wi-FI hotspots or continuous wireless Internet for their access options and there are absolutely no set up fees and no recurring billing; pay only for time used. The antennas are sometimes called repeaters and some even come equipped with amplifiers to increase the strength even more. Careful attention should be paid to the antenna’s power requirements, if any exist.

The IPhone 3G is a combination of multiple functionalities culminating in a resourceful and versatil

The IPhone 3G is a combination of multiple functionalities culminating in a resourceful and versatile digital device. The 3G designation is not a designation of the version of the IPhone but, a designation of the data transmission technology being used. 3G allows for the fast transmission of data and information for use over the Internet by mobile computing devices. The basic specifications of 3G are that it transmits data up to 14.4 Mbit/s on the downlink and 5.38 Mbit/s on the uplink. This delivers faster surfing and improved video call functionality. With IPhone 3G an end user can be on a call and surf the web simultaneously.

By implementing a dual channel transmission, the new IPhone 3G offers higher flexibility and better performance to its users. This feature will enable a user to determine where to meet with friends or family while out on the town. All IPhone 3G phones will automatically recognize if a 3G network is available and connect to it automatically. The downside is that 3G networks are not available everywhere and in those cases the IPhone will use the provided network protocols for data transmission; in most cases it will be either a 2.5G network or an EDGE network. The IPhone 3G is more than just a phone with Internet access; it is a fully functional portable pocket computer with a phone.

The IPhone 3G can connect to any Wi-Fi network and keep the user informed of all updates via email and text messaging. Many users may want to upgrade their old IPhone to the 3G version of technology. Unfortunately, this is not possible. 3G requires new and specialized hardware to perform at its peak and the old versions of the IPhone cannot be upgraded to work on a 3G network. The 3G has an average download speed of 1.4 Mbs which is two to four times as fast as the EDGE network. Downloading music, files and images has never been easier and a user can do it while talking to their friends and family. Due to the nature of activation the IPhone 3G has to be activated in an Apple store or AT&T store in the US and not through iTunes.

The built in GPS locator is perfect for Geotagging images taken on a trip but, the GPS for directions has no voice commands so a co-pilot will be needed for determining the directions to the intended destination. A multitude of applications exist for the IPhone 3G from image apps to social networking and bookmarks. Of course the IPhone can be synced with a calendar, email, media or newsgroup account for constant connections to the most important pats of connectivity for users. MobilityPass offers 3G coverage with security, privacy and confidentiality to IPhone 3G users worldwide from over 75 countries and over 100,000 hotspots. Pay no activation fee and sign no contracts as users and clients can pay as they go and only pay for the data transmitted. They offer virtual private networking with every service plan securing the connection even further.

It seems my earlier “clarifications” fell really short and did not give a complete pictu

It seems my earlier “clarifications” fell really short and did not give a complete picture regarding the wireless network issues. Here is more…

1) With my earlier post I was not trying to shiFt the blame away from AT&T for the network issues or dropped calls. My intention was/is laying out the elements involved (technical mostly) in wireless comms so that we may be able to suggest solutions or have a more informed opinion. But if someone still insists in criticizing, do criticize the right place having a better and clearer picture of what’s going on.

2) My earlier “the wireless network is a huge huge collection of hardware” fell very short of how complex the wireless network can be because it is not only about size (and huge size should not justify crappiness) it also includes quality, and usually more than one wireless carrier is involved; see the comment Gregg Thurmanover posted on macdailynews.com regarding the New York Times article “AT&T Takes the Blame, Even for the iPhone’s Faults”:

“The big problem with user experience is that they haven’t a clue why they are having a problem. They use ATT but the person they are talking to uses Verizon (or something else). Is the dropped call ATT’s fault, or is the fault at the other end? Without proper recording and analysis technologies, with complete disclosure by all the carriers, NOBODY knows where the problems exist.”

The reality is AT&T cell phone users connect/call not only AT&T cell phone users but also Verizon, or T-Mobile, or Sprint cell phone users. This makes “blame AT&T” the more difficult to assert (looks like diversifying the blame would be more accurate; an instance would be the iPhone 3G radio issue suggested in the NYT article, which is part of the hardware networking devices I talked about in my earlier post).

Reality means, every cell phone call (signal) travels through a [usually] big number of different and diverse wireless networks (and at times wired as well if your call goes to/comes from land line) before it reaches the other end (and this is sometimes true even if calling an in-network user).

It also means.., let’s say we are in New York cell phone calling a friend in San Francisco, whose carrier is different than ours, in a nice day for the continental US and the call is dropped (frustrating it is). Who, what do we blame? Man, it is very difficult to know what happened in between and why. I wouldn’t know and couldn’t explain. But we very easily throw the blame to our carrier because it is the “visible” suspect, who else could we blame? Understandable but honestly, we have no clue of what happened much less who is to blame.

Technical note: In this scenario of so far away calling, your call likely travelled wirelessly within your city/region portion. After that, we don’t know how it went to SF, although most likely fiber optic (or other wired medium), or it could have gone mixed travel, wireless and wired. I, as a user, don’t know how my call was carried, and I don’t care, I just want NO fumble. And the same “could have gone mixed travel” pattern very much applies for a wireless call within the same city same carrier.

3) Some say images help to understand things. Has anyone seen how the wireless networkS (yes in plural) look like from atop? Not me. Not like a spider web; spider web seems too structured for a wireless network; probably on some cities/places only. Like a fish men net (similar to our interstate highway system)? Maybe on some places of the country. Concentric circles? Not likely but who knows. The image I tend to lean most is the one of a collage of [mostly unstructured] networks sewn together.

4) We have to accept the diversity of our landscape. The wireless network solution for a [New York] city is not and will not be the same for places like The Grand Canyon. Means the wireless network is as diverse as our landscape; building a network in some places will be nearly impossible, some places do not financially justify building it at all, and in some places is not even necessary to build one. These factors perhaps play part in an assessment for a carrier to determine whether to build or not to build a wireless network. This is for those talking/complaining about “poor coverage”.

5) What do we want out of the wireless network? If we see the network pipes as threads this is what we want:

Larger/longer threads – greater coverage.

Better threads – reliability (lesser drops, lesser noise).

Thicker threads – capacity (bandwidth), more “water” in less time.

So what with all these clarifications? If you want to blame your carrier less frequently…

Try to stick with that carrier that has the fewer networks sewn (if you can determine that).

Try to stick with that carrier having/building/upgrading better technology for the wireless network. A simple example from the wired world… For my land line phone service I would subscribe with the company using fiber optic for the wires over the one that still using copper; the company using fiber optic will likely have less trouble carrying my call and it will connect me faster. I don’t know much about the different wireless technologies but the criteria holds, go with the one having better technology for carrying wireless signals (the larger network with “same-kind” technology – coverage, the more resistant to obstacles – strength, greater capacity – faster). An instance would be choosing 3G over EDGE.

Try to go for the carrier with LARGER/GREATER self-owned wireless network (if you can determine that).

If you travel abroad frequently it won’t matter what home carrier you pick, your call will usually be carried by multiple carriers in different countries to the other end. In this case you may want to go with the lesser cost for the wireless service.

If there is only one carrier in your area and cannot live without cell phone and cannot move then you are in a pickle and yes, you can keep blaming your carrier.

In summary…, because of the complexity of the wireless network and the inherent weaknesses of wireless signals it makes really hard to know what failed (specially when it’s the signal getting lost) and who is to blame. Nevertheless, carriers have to do their best to keep a good signal up and running; the wireless carrier that can achieve that will get the most wireless subscribers.

Even though I’m not a cell phone user, I like phone communications (wired or wireless) and even more when they work. It felt really cool when I had the chance to experience Nextel’s then just introduced walkie-talkie technology; I was able to connect/talk with a coworker in Monterrey while I was in Mexico City, instantaneously after the push of a button!!! (no dialing) If you know about the topographical shape that separates those two cities (you can check Google maps) and you know no satellite was involved, then you tend to believe telecommunication is magic.

What phone carriers do for us is already amazing.

Questo, que lotro.., salud!

Florida, E-ZPass exchanging toll camera data to test license plate based tolls
2009-08-07

Several toll agencies in Florida and the E-ZPass have begun exchange of camera based data to test the feasibility of levying tolls on one another’s license plates in a pilot program.

In most states when the transponder readers don’t recognize a local transponder, or any transponder, a camera is triggered that takes pictures of the rear and sometimes also the front of the vehicle. Each state or tolling area (E-ZPass IAG, Florida, Texas, Oklahoma, Georgia, South Carolina, Kansas etc) will generate a toll bill or violation notice based on their ability to access ‘foreign’ state motor registry databases.

The pilot program to exchange camera based data between toll areas is being conducted under the auspices of the Alliance for Toll Interoperability (ATI) and the I-95 Coalition.

Several toll areas began exchanging camera captured license plate data last week. No tolls are being actually processed in the pilot program, just the camera files are being exchanged to test the feasibility of tolling one another’s customers.

. . . JJ Eden chairman of ATI told us the pilot program is an effort to learn what needs to be done to handle one another’s camera data. Business rules vary from one area to another, so part of the challenge of interoperability is how to deal with different business rules, or harmonizing them.

Each participating toll authority will need to consult their own lawyers to see if there are problems sending license plate data to other states, Eden says. ATI already has a detailed model for exchange of camera files. Now that is being tested with real camera files.

Steering the ship of IT management is a difficult task, and one that always seems to be fraught full of things we love and things we hate. Recalling my time as an IT Operations Director, there was no task I loathed more than that of trying to manage our growing organization’s cell phone plan and costs… and that was when we were merely experimenting with data plans. With the advent of smart phones and the capabilities that are now in the hands of the mobile workforce, those demands have only gotten more intense. Smart phones offer laptop-like functionality, with more mobility, and more IT challenges.

The ever-present challenge faced by my fellow IT managers is how to balance the need of the business to work in an unhindered, dynamic way with the need to protect business information assets, ensure reliability of the tools provided to the workforce, and keep costs under control. As smart phones are becoming the norm among cell phone users, internal IT departments must be prepared to accept the new medium and work to identify ways to keep business rules in place.

Enter MobileIron, a seemingly simple solution that I recently stumbled upon. MobileIron provides mobile device management and wireless expense management solutions to enterprises across the globe. Their revolutionary products revolve around what they call their “Virtual Smartphone Platform”. These products help to provide visibility into the devices under their management, help IT take control when necessary, offer solutions for enterprise standards support and custom “app stores”, and perhaps most importantly, help to manage and reduce costs associated with these devices. Supporting most of the hottest devices on the market today, MobileIron seems to have found their niche and provided much needed relief for all of us in the enterprise IT world.

If you are dealing with smart phone management challenges, take a moment to review the MobileIron product offerings. Let me know if you think the solutions they offer can help you keep your IT ship on course.

GM announced today that they are now offering in-car Wi-Fi, the technology that connects your smart

GM announced today that they are now offering in-car Wi-Fi, the technology that connects your smart phone, laptop and other wireless internet devices to the Internet. It’s called Chevrolet Wi-Fi by Autonet Mobile, and it turns your Chevrolet vehicle into a mobile Wi-Fi spot, like your local Starbucks, except you won’t have to buy a cup of coffee to use it. Continue reading for more details.

Chevrolet Wi-Fi will give you about a 150-foot radius around your vehicle in which Wi-Fi-enabled devices will have Internet connectivity. The upside is that it supports multiple devices, so everyone’s laptop can work. The downside is speed, as Chevrolet Wi-Fi will use the local cellular network, and is currently offering speeds of only half what newer smart phones can receive. As a mitigating factor, or to make up for the slow speed, the Chevrolet Wi-Fi system uses special technology to ensure that connections aren’t broken while in motion, and being able to use your laptop, and therefore view its screen, is a big deal.

The Wi-Fi system will be available as a dealer-installed accessory from the GM Extras web site, and there are extra docking stations which will allow owners to swap the Wi-Fi system’s brain between GM vehicles. The introductory price, until December 31st, 2009, is $399, minus a $200 mail-in rebate, with a monthly charge of $29, which is a lot cheaper than what your cellular provider would charge to connect your laptop to the internet through its network.

This new add-on should be a boon for those who really need a mobile office or need Internet connectivity at a job site, as well as teenagers who want to keep in touch with friends on the ride home from school. Salespeople who only get email on their Blackberry or iPhone can now get updated presentation materials directly on their laptop, right before entering a client’s office.

The compatible Chevrolet vehicles is:

Around half of U.S. troop fatalities are caused by blood loss from battlefield injuries. Now, with another 30,000 troops deploying to Afghanistan, the Pentagon is pushing for medical advances that can save more lives during combat. The Defense Department’s latest research idea: Stop bleeding injuries by turning pigs into the semi-undead. If it works out, we humans could be the next ones to be zombified.

Military’s mad-science arm Darpa has awarded $9.9 million to the Texas A&M Institute for Preclinical Studies (TIPS), to develop treatments that can extend a “golden period” when injured war fighters have the best chance of coming back from massive blood loss. Odds of survival plummet after an hour — during combat, that kind of quick evacuation, triage and treatment is often impossible.

The institute’s research will be based on previous Darpa-funded efforts. One project, at Stanford University, hypothesized that humans could one day mimic the hibernation abilities of squirrels — who emerge from winter months no worse for wear — using a pancreatic enzyme we have in common with the critters. The other, led by Dr. Mark Roth at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, used nematode worms and rats to test how hydrogen sulfide could block the body’s ability to use oxygen — creating a kind of “suspended animation” where hearts stop beating and wounds don’t bleed. After removing 60 percent of the rat’s blood, Dr. Roth managed to keep the critters alive for 10 hours using his hydrogen sulfide cocktail.

The next logical step: Try the same thing on pigs. They’ve got a similar cardiovascular system to humans, and TIPS researchers Theresa Fossum and Matthew Miller think they can accurately predict human results from the swine trials. Using anesthetized pigs, the doctors are testing various compounds, some containing hydrogen sulfide, to find one that can safely keep the hemorrhaging animals “as close to death as possible.”

With a 15-person team working exclusively on the project, the institute anticipates successful results within 18 months. “Darpa wants this to happen yesterday, because it was needed yesterday,” Dr. Miller told Danger Room. Once the team comes up with the right elixir, it’ll undergo federally mandated safety testing. After that, the zombie vaccine will be sent to the battlefield for human application.

Dr. Fossum predicts that each soldier will carry a syringe into combat zones or remote areas, and medic teams will be equipped with several. A single injection will minimize metabolic needs, de-animating injured troops by shutting down brain and heart function. Once treatment can be carried out, they’ll be “re-animated” and — hopefully — as good as new.

From rats, to pigs, to troops — to civilians. Dr. Miller anticipates dozens of medical applications, including the preservation of organs before transplants and suspension of life-threatening emergencies, like heart attacks and strokes. “Everybody’s talking about the military use of this, and that’s our focus now,” he says. “But really, this could be much, much bigger than that.”

Well I know that the Samsung Instinct s30 has been out for a while now, so long that the new SI HD is out but I just felt like making a review. Ok, so the Instinct S30 has basically the same set-up as the M800 but looks nicer and instead of looking rectangular, the corners are more curved. I love it because it fits in my hand perfectly and is easy to use. This is my 2nd phone that I’ve ever had and it’s a huge upgrade from my old, out of date flip phone. This phone is available with Sprint. So is this phone really worth buying?

Design:

This phone’s design is pretty attractive, at least to me. The touchscreen display is 3.2″ and below the screen are three images. One shows an arrow pointing to the left, the middle is home, and the last is a telephone. When the images are touched, they bring you to your desired destination on the phone. A 1GB microSD card comes with the phone and the slot is found on the right-hand side of the phone. It is a little difficult to get in and out if you don’t have long nails but don’t use any material that will damage the phone, because that won’t be good! Also on the right-hand side is the voice command and below that is the button that will take you to your camera and take pictures. On the left-hand side is the slot for the charger and the volume buttons. On top are the headphone jack (the jack, microSD slot, and the charger are all covered) and the button that will unlock your phone. Overall I think the design adds to my love for the phone. It fits in my hand perfectly and looks nice especially for the high school teen that I am.

Touch/screen:

Onto the touchscreen, the most important part. Once you get to the home screen you look at the grayish screen and the bottom of the screen shows 4 icons. The first is ‘Favorites’ the second is ‘Main’ the third ‘Fun’ and the last ‘Web’. For your favorites, you can just add whatever you want from apps down to your favorite TV show that can be found on the phone. The Main just has the basics such as a calculator, settings, calendar, clock and more. The ‘Fun’ page contains of things such as music, TV, radio and social networking pages with much more! And the web just consists of the browser or other things you might need such as weather. The home screen is pretty organized so you can get to what you need as quickly as you need it! The touchscreen sensitivity can be adjusted easily in the settings as well as other screen settings.
Texting isn’t as bad as one would think. You can text either landscape mode or vertically, but landscape is the QWERTY that we’re all used to while vertically is alphabetically. There is also a spell check in case you spell something wrong. Making mistakes is usually rare, but it’s common for me since I’m still getting the hang of the concept of texting . Basically, this screen is pretty fun to use and just because it’s a touchscreen everyone wants their hands on it.

Phone/Camera:

While this phone has a bunch of functions, one of the most important things is the phone itself. From my use, the voice quality and volume is very good. You access the phone by tapping the phone icon on the bottom of the phone. From there you can find contacts, speed dials, history and more. The quality is great and hasn’t let me down at all. Sprint service, from my usage at least has never dropped a call.
The camera is also nice, but I wish it was maybe a little bit better. To get to the camera, you press on the button on the lower right-hand side of the phone. This button is also the shutter button for pictures and recording video. Pictures can get blurry sometimes and there is a fuzzy picture warning if it feels that the picture you are about to take will end up being a little blurry. Videos are nice to record and go up to a maximum of 2 minutes, which isn’t really that bad at all. My experiences with the camera have been good.

Music/GPS:

The music is really nice on this phone! To put your own music on the phone, just take the microSD card out and put it in your computer using the adapter and just place whatever songs you want to on the phone. The Sprint Music store has absolutely everything from any classical composer to whatever holiday music you want. There is a 30-second preview option and songs can be bought from your phone. There are also free songs every week as well. The quality is great and you can use the supplied headphones or not, whatever suits you.
The GPS also works great to. If you have your contacts’ addresses, you can tap the address and the GPS will lead you right there. Like a regular GPS, you have the option of searching for your destination such as malls, gas stations and more. Gas stations can also be ordered from least expensive to most expensive or vice-versa based also off what type of gas you use. I haven’t used the GPS much because I don’t always need it, but I believe it will come in handy sometime.

Overall:

Overall, this phone is pretty much top notch! It hasn’t let me down for the several months that I’ve had it. Everything works great and goes above my expectations. The battery life is great and lasts about 3-5 days without charging depending on what you use it. The apps usually have to be bought, but if you look hard enough you can find some nice free apps. The web browser and email are great as well. Sending emails from the phone is easy and quick and the screen size is great. Watching TV is also a blast wherever you are! Almost every channel you can think of from the news to Disney channel! Access social networking like Facebook and Myspace straight from your favorites. It’s a phone/technology lover’s dream phone! I hope this review has helped and if you have any questions just leave a comment!

Pros- Great battery life, big screen, easy to navigate. Great sound quality, quick email/phone/GPS/music access, Just one of the greatest phones! Lots of TV channels to chose from and watch full episodes of your favorite shows. Variety of music from the store. Facebook and Myspace easy to access and communicate with others. Texting is nice and simple.

Cons- could have a better camera, and possibly be a tiny bit more slimmer.

Progress report from the Dr. on Baby Kaydy — Kayla is progressing, but still not quite there yet. Still 15 days until the actual due date, so she has plenty of time before her due date. We’ve already been enjoying Christmas TV specials; “Year Without a Santa Claus” last night and the lighting of the Rockefeller Plaza Christmas Tree tonight. Aretha Franklin, Jo Dee Messina, Alicia Keys, Shakira and Rod Stewart all did a great job!

On the work front, I spent today brainstorming interactive marketing ideas for a local cellular company as well as a local bank. I’ve designed campaigns that involve texting and Internet / widget technology. I can’t wait to demonstrate these ideas to the client. Hopefully I’ll get to execute them soon.

Several things happening in Roanoke tomorrow night. We’ll be taking Kyle to see Sesame Street Live at the Salem Civic Center. A coupole other family members are going to the big K92 event with Medium Suzanne Northrop who talks to those on the other side. For more information on her appearance, visit http://northstar2llc.com/theseance/.

It’s official, but it has been official for months. AT&T has pathetic cellular service. In

It’s official, but it has been official for months. AT&T has pathetic cellular service. In fact, they’ve already been cited for it. They knew. They knew what they were doing wrong. They knew exactly how to fix their problems. What did they do? They hired a Hollywood face to go on television and claim they didn’t have any problems, instead.

After Verizon came out with there “map for that” series of commercials poking fun at AT&T’s complete lack of ability in the cellular industry, they got really angry. They tried to sue, and lost. I guess they figured when you can’t do anything in court, lie about it on TV. Really brilliant plan.

So, they got Luke Wilson. Loveable, likeable Luke. They got him to creatively spin (lie), and make their company look less useless than people collectively know it to be. Everyone has known for months that AT&T has really sucky service, frequent dropped calls, and horrible value. I remember once, not very long ago, we tried AT&T cellular. We got all kinds of dropped calls, lousy signal strength, and poor sound quality. When we tried getting our money back, AT&T lied their asses off, saying we got faulty phones, and tried sending replacements. Of course, they didn’t work, either. We sent the phones back, and demanded our money. I am confident that if we had listened to them further, we would have had the contract too long, and would have been forced to pay the early termination penalty.

It’s not just me, thousands of cellular users took a Consumer Reports survey, ranking AT&T dead last among the major carriers for service and network quality. Also, most everyone I know (and I know many people across this country) have had bad experiences with AT&T. I’m surprised, what with technology the way it is, and AT&T being a reasonably skilled business entity with resources and know-how, that they don’t do something to fix their limitations. Not only do they not fix their problems, they hire a P/R team to hide them from people.

This is a prime example of what is terminally wrong with big business in this country. They do not care about their problems, and when presented with the fact that people know about them, they sue, they lie, and they deflect. Anything but fix the problem.

AT&T, you fail. Miserably. Clean up your act, or be dead last next year, too.

Spyware Operation

————————–

Are you confused about software to spy on mobile phones and where it’s to be installed?

I’m going to clarify what all the buzz is about and discuss one brand of spyware for the sake of simplicity.

The best spyware available includes three different platforms for the Blackberry, Nokia Symbian, Windows Mobile, Android and an additional four platforms for the iPhone. So let’s look at what these mobile spywares have to offer.

First thing you need is to have the target phone in your possession. After you get the phone you will then have to use the phone’s browser to access the internet.
After going to the download site simply enter the authorization key and the download will begin to start automatically and will be installed in just a couple of minutes.

After installing the software you will have to set the monitor number, the monitor number is the phone that you will use to make spy calls. Luckily this number can be set remotely so depending on the type of phone your are using the setting can be done by remote command by sending an sms message.

Information such as the phone number and name of both incoming and outgoing calls from the target phone will be sent via SMS text message to the monitor phone. After the information is received the monitor phone then calls into the target phone during a live conversation. For information such as SMS, Email and GPS activity, this information is sent to a secure web account provided by the spyware vendor. The user simply goes to the website and enters the username and password and can access all records of the phone’s activities including the calls made and received. The information can be set to be sent to your email account, and can then be further sent to your own mobile phone for immediate review. But I want to be clear that actual call information is sent to the monitor phone.

No special software is required to be installed on the monitor phone. All you have to do is set the monitor number on the target phone, which can be any mobile phone number and you can start monitoring the target.

Remote commands can activate the information capturing process. Other parameters can also be set such as GPS polling and event reporting and deactivation.

The monitor phone can also remotely activate the target phones microphone and listen in on the surrounding environment and hear every single noise in the immediate vicinity, this feature is known as spycall.
