As many of you know, the Australian version of Left 4 Dead 2 was almost not released at all, until Valve censored/omitted enough blood, guts, and gore to make it to Australian standards. This video shows a comparison between the censored version and the non-censored version.

I think it’s pretty funny seeing zombies just fall to the floor and dissipate into nothing.

No, not another link to another a story about Sarah Palin. Well, OK, if you insist. But I’m self-aware enough to know that Wegestock is just a manifestation of my inner Sarah, my need for attention, the gratification I get from having others buy me beer.

It’s not my good side. (That, sadly, is the side with the proboscin wart, not the elderhipster earring.) Wegestock is my mirror, a vanity in which I hope to see my future. As I graze upon the throng (5 RSVPs to date — woot!), I hope to see a reflection of what lays ahead for me. I think we can count out Nuremberg-sized rallies with Pink Floyd-sized banners.

And no, I’m not threatening to kill the blog again. That never seems to work out as whatever I focus on next just turns into this blog all over again. But next week I go on vacation and when I come back I plan on making changes. No clue as to what, no glimmering, none whatsoever.

But change would be good.

I thought we were going to get change this year, but the only change I’ve seen has been from my cash purchases, and not so many of those as we enter into the age of no-really-you-gotta-tip-me-because-retail-is-not-a-living-wage.

Tight times have come to us all. But not Peter Galbraith, and that really bothers Glenn Greenwald. It bothers quite a few lefty bloggers actually, but I don’t know why.

Peter Galbraith offered up the only pro-Iraq War arguments I respected back in the day. Kurds were being oppressed by Saddam, and Kurds have always deserved a free and independent Kurdistan. Galbraith believes in the Kurds, or at least has been faking support for them convincingly for a long time. And if there is a country on this planet more honorable to deal with in matters of oil, I can’t think of any I’d trust more than Norway.

Yes, Galbraith’s going to make some money from brokering this deal. Would Glenn Greenwald sleep better at night if one of Dick Cheney’s friends had pulled this one off? Would he feel better if the Kurds were selling their oil to Royal Dutch Shell?

Peter Galbraith didn’t decide to cashier the Iraqi Army or let the museums be looted. He didn’t decide to guard the Oil Ministry instead of the stockpiled weapons. In fact I don’t think anyone anticipated just how clusterfucked Bush-Cheney’s war would be. I expected long-term bad things to happen. Many people did. But these assholes couldn’t get through the immediate aftermath of the most lopsided war since Grenada/Falklands.

Galbraith just became the first liberal to get in on Halliburton’s cash cow. The more milk Galbraith gets, the longer the straw Erik Prince has to use.

Yes, the money that went into this stupid war could have been put to better use. But removing Saddam’s thumb from the collective Kurdish jugular wasn’t a bad thing.

As for economists in general, here’s a reminder of what the axis of non-lefty economists does for a living. (Not that cons can’t be right about some things.) And here’s a reminder that our treatment of Saddam remains the exception, not the rule. In a world in which John Yoo is free to pontificate, I find it hard to point fingers at one of the few non-neocon war supporters.

Russia bans Modern Warfare 2 over “airport terror” level

Modern Warfare 2 continues to be dogged by controversy, as its sales soar. While British MPs bicker about banning the game, Russia has done just that, removing it from sale and recalling all copies sold.

The Russian government pulled Modern Warfare 2 as a response to the Russian airport terror level, which we first revealed a few weeks back. But Russian gamers are also taking to gaming sites to attack developer Infinity Ward for its portrayal of their nation.

Infinity Ward will submit an edited version of the game within the month, hoping that the Russian government will be mollified enough to restore Modern Warfare 2 to the shelves. It has also removed the airport terror level entirely for Russian gamers.

Modern Warfare 2 sees Russia and America at war after the Russian Federation is taken over by a group of ultra-nationalists. Now what about that could possibly offend the Russians? Perhaps they should take a peep at the Modern Warfare 3 spoof instead.

Gee, now why would the Russian government be offended by this?

‘Birther’ stories led to Lou Dobbs’ resignation
Sources say CNN dispute over Obama’s eligibility was ‘beginning of the end’

Lou Dobbs’ refusal to drop “birther” stories about challenges to President Obama’s constitutional eligibility to hold office was a major source of contention with CNN management, leading the unconventional anchor to walk away from the network and more than $9 million, according to the New York Post.

Dobbs, known for his strong stand against illegal immigration, surprised his loyal viewers Wednesday night by announcing his resignation and offering no indication of his next move.

The Post, citing anonymous sources, said the beginning of the end of a long-simmering dispute came in July, when CNN President Jonathan Klein told Dobbs’ staff in a memo to stop reporting on lawsuits that demand Obama produce evidence he’s a natural-born American citizen, as required by the Constitution.

“It seems this story is dead because anyone who still is not convinced doesn’t really have a legitimate beef,“ Klein’s memo said.

Oh yeah? How about someone who spends hundreds of thousands dollars to cover up the truth of their past… is that legitimate beef’? Just because the libtards refuse to accept and acknowledge that there IS a difference between a short form and a long form birth certificate, and the fact that Hawai’i will issue birth certificates to children who were NOT born in Hawai’i doesn’t make the concerns of anyone questioning BHussein, the half-breed Muslim, and his eligibility. What’s so difficult and unrealistic about providing actual proof? I even heard one moron say that “high resolution photographs” of a document should be proof enough. Typical libtard thinking.

A source told the Post Klein’s move incensed Dobbs.

“They have been talking pretty regularly since then,” the source said. “And it’s been pretty bad.”

Dobbs, who also hosts a nationally syndicated radio show, told his radio audience in July that “even though I said I believe the president is a citizen of the United States, I don’t understand why he shouldn’t produce a birth certificate. My God, you’re talking about the third rail of American journalism, baby! That’s it. I’m not going to back off.”

The Post said CNN had long been asking Dobbs to “tone down his harsh rhetoric” on issues such as immigration.

Selective journalism. Pick and choose. Liberal media bias at it’s finest. The way I see it; if it’s an issue that touches ANYONE – it’s newsworthy. But, again. CNN caters to the liberals; therefore they have to dumb their “reports” down and only talk about whatever they think will bring in the ratings. (which aren’t so hot to begin with…)

Sources said CNN likely would not have renewed Dobbs’ contract in 2011, and the newsman’s agent told Klein that since both parties were unhappy, it would be best to release him now.

A television insider told the Post Dobbs was “polluting” the brand of the oldest cable news network, which is trying to position itself between the left-leaning MSNBC and conservative Fox News Channel.

A Fox News Channel spokeswoman told the Post her network wasn’t interested in hiring Dobbs.

Veteran Washington political correspondent John King will take over Dobbs’ 7 p.m. slot, CNN announced.

As WND reported, Dobbs told his radio audience Oct. 26 a gunshot was fired into his home after a series of threatening phone calls.

Dobbs said advocacy groups that support illegal aliens and have pressed for him to be fired “have created an atmosphere and have been unrelenting in their propaganda.”

Outspoken opponents of Dobbs include the Southern Poverty Law Center, the Anti-Defamation League, the National Council of La Raza, Internet media watchdog Media Matters and Geraldo Rivera of Fox News.

In his daily column today, WND CEO and Editor Joseph Farah calls Dobbs a “real newsman” whose departure from CNN after 30 years “leaves the network in a state of programming irrelevancy.”

“What makes Lou Dobbs so special,” Farah writes, “is his independence and fearlessness. Dobbs clearly set his own agenda. He had no interest in the ‘conventional wisdom’ of his industry. Dobbs thinks like a real American newsman – a throwback to an age when journalists actually believed they were watchdogs of government and asked tough questions in the interests of the people.“

Or at least we would have done, if the article below hadn’t been censored by UCL Sabbatical Officers who are too weak-minded to “put their neck on the line” for a free student press!

IN JULY THIS YEAR the Chief Executive of UCL Union, “left UCL’s employment”. As specified in the job description written by the Union, the Chief Executive “provides the link between the direction and policy decisions of student officers and the implementation of the same by full time staff ”…

Censored

Here should follow an honest and truthful account of one man’s complete mismanagement of UCLU. However, the article was deemed unpublishable by Communications and Services Officer, Charlie Clinton (left), after being told by UCL that it provided grounds for libel action. Clinton pulled the article in its entirety after receiving further advice from “other people” – people he has admitted were neither lawyers nor anyone with legal experience.

No legal grounds

There are no legal grounds for forbidding the article. Clinton himself is unable to point to a law which says anything in the article is illegal. Although he claims to have doubts about the accuracy of the piece, he insists he is not able to disclose specific inaccuracies without breaching “confidentiality agreements”. How convenient!

Hot potato

The article certainly did cover sensitive issues, making it “ too much of a hot potato” to be printed according to Clinton. He is not willing to take the risk of printing an article that was extremely relevant to UCL students and went part way to explaining why the Union was so poorly run last year.

Silenced

It looks like the students of UCL will have to suffer the disastrous effects of two years of complete mismanagement of their Union in silence.
