Because I have to!! We been finding all kinds of money along the road….(say it with a southern accent ‘cuz its fuh-uhn!)

It’s been mostly nickels and whatnot…but on yet another glorious night of me failing with the cooking skillz, we found ourselves at the local McDonald’s where I spied with my super eye (in the parking lot. in the dark. several spaces from where we parked.) a folded up bill of unknown quantity. No one was around, no other cars either…in case you wonder…

It was five bucks!

I swear if I wasn’t so lazy I would make us all go to the mall and skulk around looking for lost money. Times are hard you know, and I hate to beg.

Anyway here’s the other money we found on various days from the last days we calculated (listed by coin to make it more interesting):

Quarters: 4 ($1.00)

Dimes: 4 (40¢)

Nickels: 2 (10¢)

Pennies: 9 (9¢)

Plus that 5 dollar bill. Grand total: $6.59

That’s not too bad. Check here for the year. Getting close to the end!!

Chic Cents' Five Rules of Fashion

Fashion rule #1: Money does not buy style. (see US Weekly“Fashion Police”) Fashion rule

Fashion rule #1: Money does not buy style. (see US Weekly“Fashion Police”)

Fashion rule #2: Fashion is like a treasure hunt. There are maps to guide you (see rules 3-4), but there are innumerable ways to achieve that ultimate “runway-meets-real life” look.

Fashion rule #3: If you wear a tight form-fitting top, choose a loose-fitting bottom (and vice versa).

Fashion rule #4: Never ever EVER wear a short mini skirt with a low-cut top, unless it is Halloween.*

Fashion rule #5: Use common “cents.” If it doesn’t feel right, it probably isn’t.**

*Fashion is primarily an art with a little bit of science (helping you find the perfect fit for your body type), so the time may come when you may break any (or all) of these rules!

**Don’t be afraid to have FUN with fashion. Depending on the situation (read: job interview), you may want to ask an outspoken fashionable friend for their opinion, but don’t be afraid to take risks! Trendsetters are just that because they took a risk!

Evony, a free online RTS game, gives new meaning to the term Multiplayer game. It is a MMORPG, or a MMORTS pronounced ‘muh-morg’ , and ‘muh-ort’ or pretty much any way you want to try to pronounce it. Basically, this means it is a MASSIVE Multiplayer online game as in big, huge, as in, over 10 million players world wide at the time of this article. And it is still growing with over 100 servers now, and new servers for specific languages popping up even as I write this. From the conception of other real-time strategy games such as World of Warcraft, or my all time 1st and favorite, Command & Conquer, Evony is proving to be the most addictive and attractive of them all. There is no download required, is completely browser based and supported on most such as IE, Firefox, and Chrome.

Registering is quick and easy. Upon signing up, your dropped into a new server along with other new members joining around the same time. The game offers easy to follow quests for you to get the hang of things, and if followed, will pretty much guide you in the best way to gain resources, money, armies, buildings, and technologies. Along with the gradual game start-up, there are 100s of online forums and blogs, posting tips and tricks, reports, and player experiences to help you on your journey. Within the game are chat channels for you to communicate with members of your alliance and other players throughout your server. The game is absolutely FREE and as far as I can tell, NOT ad supported. Unless the Evony developers have found a way to subliminally feed me blurbs about Totinos pizza or Folgers coffee, which I consume quite a bit of while playing Evony, then it is what it says it is: FREE!

Now with that said, there is a way you can spend money on the game. You have the opportunity to purchase Evony cents, which are redeemable for objects that help you increase production, aid in army strength, speed up production, or give you instant resources when needed. But even if you choose not to spend any money and play free, you receive a daily login amulet, which you can redeem for a free random object. I received 300 cents in one spin, which is quite a bit and you can actually buy more amulets for 5 cents for more random spins. You also receive certain items by completing quests. So even without spending dollars, you can quite easily get the resources you need from daily play.

Since I’ve been playing, I have stumbled across blogs and forum posts by disgruntled players, complaining about how Evony really isn’t free, and how the creators of Evony are rigging the game so we have to spend money to succeed. Even worse, is the proposed ‘greediness’ of the creators to try and make a profit off of us poor lowley players struggling through the game. That is absolutely ridiculous! The game is free, I have been very succesful in the game without spending money, and besides that, the creators DESERVE to make a few dollars off their creation! This is a well built, bug-free, FREE game which some hard-working individuals put their time and resources into making. They provided a service, and deserve to be not only compensated for it, but should also profit from it and I hope they profit well. So to the creators of Evony, Thank You!

Now, for anyone planning on trying the game out, a few helpful hints without going into specific tactics.

1. When starting out, concentrate on building your population, resources and follow the quests. Once you have the hang of the game, you’ll realize that having a productive society creates a strong military.

2. When gaining rank and title, ensure you get the next title 1st, then the rank, then the next title, etc. Title 1st. Getting medals in the game is becoming more and more difficult, so use your medals to gain a new title, which equals another city, then go for the next rank.

3. If you have evony coins to spend, use them only on something you absolutely need, otherwise I recommend getting medal boxes with the medals you need for the next title, or getting more amulets for 5 cents each.

Good Luck!

Though some people may associate the holidays with mayhem and unwanted distress, I think it’s a great opportunity to go shopping for stuff that you really like but don’t have to feel guilty about buying because it’s for someone else. Plus, all stores give really good discounts. Gotta love those coupons! They really help save money, and it only takes around 2 seconds to cut one out of the newspaper or a magazine. I know some people say time is priceless, but in this case, it’s more like 2 seconds is worth 30% off of something. It’s especially worth it if what you’re buying is in the hundreds.

I just wish those darned things won’t expire so soon. Sometimes they expire on the day that I get them, or 3 days later. Then it gets even more frustrating when you realise you needed to buy something from one store, and the coupon you had for that store expired yesterday.

The most recent thing I bought with a coupon was a highlighter – 30% off of $0.93. Okay, that sounds pathetic – I saved, what, 32 cents (if you factor in tax)? But I had several of these coupons, and they expire on the 24th, so might as well use one for something I really needed than splurge on something I may not give away or need. But such are the things I buy. I believe being a student forces one to think in a utilitarian-like manner. 32 cents…I could buy some candy with that, which isn’t a bad idea since I have something of a sweet tooth.

One quarter (this is the one he wants–it’s just a regular old 1986 quarter–it’s not even really shiny–boys)

In a desperate bid to beat out the fierce competition between Rihanna’s Rated R, Lady GaGa’s The Fame Monster and Britney Spears’ Singles Collection, the record label has gone to new lengths. Rihanna’s highly anticipated and critically-medoicre Rated R is being sold as a download from less than a dollar. Yes, the whole album. To tell you the truth, it’s not even worth that much. It’s a really bad album in comparison to Good Girl Gone Bad.

Recently, I went to my local RiteAid and bought a couple of Wet N’ Wild products. My haul mad

Recently, I went to my local RiteAid and bought a couple of Wet N’ Wild products. My haul made me discover how amazing Wet N’ Wild products truly are.

So amazed that I started this blog. Over time I will blog about all the drug store makeup products that I bought or plan to buy.

A while back I went looking around for a lipstick similar to two shades Korean Pop group 2NE1’s leader, CL wore. I think the shades are MAC’s Impassioned and maybe Trimming talk.

I didn’t want to pay $14.00, so I went to Rite Aid to find a cheaper version. I came across Maybelline’s Moisture lipstick. Since it was Maybelline, I thought it would be good quality and it $5.99 (sounds like a quality price).

Wrong. It was a waste of money. I bought the A55 Orchid Frost color, the color is fine. It just doesn’t last long. So upset, I went back to Rite aid in hope of finding a better lipstick and BAM! I came across the Wet N’ Wild Silk Finish Lipstick.

The fact that the lipstick was 99 cents. One Dollar. This made me want to give it a shot. I ended up buying three shades 525D Retro Pink, 511B Mouveau Pink and 505A Light Berry Frost.

The 525D Retro Pink ,like my friend said ” It is like a Barbie shade.” This shade is a mix between MAC’s Trimming Talk and Impassioned.

The 511B Mouveau Pink is an ultra hot pink shade. This would be good for a vintage 1950’s twist. Instead of going for a red bloodshot color substitute it with this shade to look little bit more modern. This is similar to MAC’s Lustering.

The 505A Light Berry Frost is simialr to the 525 shade, but this one has shimmer and is darker. I am a little disappointed that it was nothing like it’s label. Not my favorite, but hopefully a good investment. This is simlar to MAC’ s Russian Red minus the shimmer.

After such great results I went back to buy more shades. The Wet N’ Wild Silk Finish lipstick comes in 40 different shades and I want to buy most of them. Though, when I got there the only colors left were the ones I already bought and some really dark chocolate shades. Then I saw the last 547B Breeze shade. I’m not into brown lipstick, but this is more like a m milky nude shimmer. This is similar to MAC’s What A do.

It’s really nice.

$4.00 gone to good. This lipstick lasts pretty long, You probably have to re-apply it again every hour or so. Plus I don’t have to worry about eating with it on. I definelty recommend that you go and try it out.

And it’s a good one.

I’ve been saving the pennies, nickels and dimes we’ve been finding all over the place, for one big post when I had time to do it.

Today is your lucky day!

Keep in mind, we pretty much find money everyday now, but with my schedule it’s too hard to put a few cents in here on a daily basis. But based on last night’s little post and the fact that I am hooked on some stupid internet game thru the facebook…i can take some extra time on Sunday to share this exciting money total! School prob won’t suffer any more than it did with my two martini study group if I wait a few more minutes today…let the fog clear and the headache subside…

Anymoney…here is the top news first (everything else after is anti-climatic, but it is still money!):

Approx. one month ago: In a pizza restaurant parking lot, as we were leaving, just laying on the ground folded up: Twenty dollars! Yes, 20! Twenty. It was dark too. I spotted it and picked it up. I figured it was some bill, but twenty was a surprise!

Oh, and I think Mason found a penny as we were going in!

Then I made notes on a scrap paper like this:

Lisa 2¢

Bowling: M= 1¢ S=$1.27

M+S weekend, 12¢

Penny at clinical.

1¢ at school.

10¢ Stevie school.

More school money, 47¢ with a date, 10/12/09

And then I have a bunch of loose change that we found and put on the microwave just waiting for this special day: 21¢

Grand total for the last month or so…$22.23!

Not too bad. This will boost the numbers for the year. Check here.

Thanks for following the madness. Poker is next while I still have battery power….

(Find this and other great writers at memoirbloggers.wordpress.com)

I would be fired the next day, but the night before I went out with Gino. I never really had any super Italian friends growing up. One of the more overlooked differences between Boston and New York is their flavor of Catholic. In my phone I had him listed as Ginoooooooo. Gino was an actor with a manic vibe and I’m not sure if we ever had a real conversation, but he was funny.

It was my first Halloween weekend and the real happening in NY is right after the parade in the Village. I followed my still co-workers down into Alphabet City, to a charming little dump called Doc Holladay’s named after my second favorite Val Kilmer role. It was the kind of bar where you spend hours behind a cheap beer excavating 70’s graffiti through the layers of wall grime with your fingernail. There was a thrill of possibly digging up a place where the Ramones had once pissed on a unsuspecting fan.

The costume contest had begun a touch before we arrived and sans costumes we could just sit back with a tub of Pabst and take in the seedy faire. It seemed like an easy formula. Round by round, the intoxicated contestants would stand on the bar so that the intoxicated crowd could cheer on the woman with the least amount of clothes. The frontrunner was a girl who had apparently tailor-made her outfit for just such a contest. She wore a cardboard box extending neck to knees, painted in black and bedazzled. On the front, she had cut herself some swinging door and wrote, in what I assumed was red lipstick, the words, PEEP SHOW 25¢. And just as promised when some forth coming patron would chuck a quarter up at her, she opened the doors revealin just the skin she was in.

It was going to be a landslide.

Her only competition was a girl in what could only be described in the Village as a delicious catsuit, showing off every curve and fold her body provided. Even the whiskers seemed like a detail I would be embarrassed to buy.
The conversation was again not premium but I enjoyed new friendships. Trying to pick out the ones I could hang out with in the future over those who I would just merely be friendly with at work. I really felt like I was settling to New York. Two months in and I was beginning to make friends and I had found a restaurant I could see myself at until I didn’t have to. It was Goodfellas kinda joint and the owner, a scion of another more established Italian icon, loved to keep me late drinking with him at the bar until his wife called. He loved me. He wanted to make t shirts with me out of these ironic lil drawing that I had made and once sold as postcards in Union Square for a buck a piece. He had plans for me. I felt like it was going to work out.

Around my 5th or 6th PBR, the semi finalists were announced and the Peep Girl, drunk with tangible confidence ascended the bar for what would merely be a victory lap. Her opponent, the cat, stood waiting and hissing and prowling the crowd intending to go down fighting. When Miss Peeps finally got her footing and the first quarter was cast, the unthinkable happened. She slipped. Fell straight off the bar into the bartender, the ice bin, a rail of cheap liqour and hopefully a latticed rubber and impossible unclean floor mat below. The crowd let out an audible gasp followed quickly by laughter and then cheer for the cat girl, left standing, who took the opportunity and egged the crowd to show her love for her balance and dexterity. Twenty minutes later, she would crowned with what ever one wins in a bar choking with cigarette smoke and tables piled with Spartan beer cans shrines.

I would call in to find out my schedule the next day, only to discover I had none. My eyes teared with shock.

Making cents……… Hmmmmmmm ! I came up with this great hypothesis when I was watching this foreign mov

Making cents……… Hmmmmmmm !

I came up with this great hypothesis when I was watching this foreign movie on TV ……… at least within the 10 seconds I was browsing through the channels and reading its subtitles.

The scenes I saw was of a lady giving some change to a shop keeper, when the shop keeper said that he did not have 40 cents with him ………And at that very moment ……. It really dawned on me ……. How this “cents” business really works.

I am no conspiracy theorist but just ponder this though……… Don’t you think that the whole business community is taking us for a hell of a ride at least here in this small miracle….using cents as a weapon?

When was the last time you saw a 2 cents, 5 cents or for that matter 10 cent coin………(may be when you were in 5th grade). Also when was the last time you received a change in the form of “cents” from any of the shops………

Believe me it’s a multi million rupee businesses… that all of us are involved whether we like it or not.

What is the point of making a product 49 rupees and 49 cents?

There is no logical reason to it except the fact that it is a bit less than 50 rupees … but you pay it any way. It’s all a marketers’ twisted view on things that we eat up like chocolate cake

You never get the 50 cents so why bother about the cent………….

In my though all products should be marked in rupees and should remove the cents in them …. Bring all prices to the nearest rupee with out fooling us all…….. The so called precious customers (Mi @ss)

I am quite sure that they have a column in their account books with the heading – “ Profit made because we never gave cents to those fools”

My estimate for the waste of our cash each year because we never collect change is at least between 5000 to 10,000 rupees………. Kid you not, it might be even more

It is a considerable sum in these dire economically unstable days……… LOL !.

So remember ! The next time YOU decide to buy stuff a bit cheaper ….. You will probably be paying the same amount you were going to so pay in the first place

Now its you time to you to leave a comment and your POV on this………….. not so important matter.

They say things a little differently on this side (the eastern side) of the Atlantic. Sometimes they say things like “jolly good” which just make me laugh. Sometimes they say things like, “What COUNTY are you from in the United STATES?” Erm, we have states that have counties, but you obviously mean “state”.

Sometimes it’s me spouting American-isms, or worse, Southern-isms. Don’t get me wrong, I’m proud to be an American with a twinge of Southern roots.

But over here, they don’t say “y’all.”

What I said was, “Y’all don’t have interstate [highways] here [in England].”

I’ve also been guilty of saying “cents” instead of “pence” (whatever, they rhyme). I also said “football”, which over here would be soccer. That is one thing I won’t budge on. I will never call that wussy game where they kick around a little ball “football”. Football is big fat men in Spandex smashing into each other every Sunday (or Saturday for college or Friday for high school ball), and I like it. Soccer, not so much. So, sorry Europe, but when I say football, it will always, always mean NFL football.

Say that five times fast. That’s alot of description words or conjunctions or something…anyway…I’m losing the steam for being able to do all I want when I want. The time is short. Even shorter than I realized a week ago. But this is not about that. This is about money. On the street. So here’s the count. Today and yesterday.

Found my lucky penny yesterday before school, but it was only half lucky.

And today was a nickel and dime day. Nickel on the street. Dime at the Walgreen’s. It was on the outside under a mat in a crack. (If you read this post kind of sing-songy it sounds like Dr. Suess)

So the total for now is 16¢

More Money! The BF found three cents today! AND he picked it up! It counts! That brings us to 19¢! Oh my!
