Es una “tarea” tremenda para nosotras.

Lo primero porque para depilarte tienes que tener pelos que quitar, es algo evidente ¿no? Entonces tienes que abandonarte, como se abandonan los zapatos viejos que diría Sabina y convertirte en una “mujer tejón”

La cuestión es que las que nos depilamos a cera lo tenemos complicadísimo porque si nos quitamos cuando tenemos dos pelos, tendríamos que volver a ir a los 4 días y volver a pagar. Qué es una cosa que tiene delito, te quitan todos tus pelitos (qué a saber que hacen con ellos) te hacen sufrir durante media hora y además pagas por ello…… si es que vamos a más tontas ¿no? Bueno pero dejando este tema a parte, vuelvo al tema principal. Utilizar la cuchilla sería lo más fácil del mundo, pero nosotras somos chicarronas del norte y aguantamos lo que haga falta. Nosotras preferimos la cera, que te hace mas dura que dura; no es por criticar (en voz muy muy bajita y susurrando) pero las mujeres que utilizan cuchillas o cremas de esas que huelen a corrompido es que son unas micos. Que no me parece mal ¡ojo! Qué cada una haga los que quiera con sus pelos.

Las zonas a depilar son muchas, y te descuidas dos días y ya estas con la cera otra vez a vueltas; que si las cejas, el labio superior (como dicen las expertas) ¡coño! de toda la vida bigote, anda que no le dicho yo veces a mi hermana “joder, que bigotazo tengo” , las piernas, las axilas, las inglés…..  el día que no toca una cosa, toca otra.

Ah! eso sí. Cuando te estas abandonando para hacerte una “limpia” profunda entonces es cuando te llaman del ginecólogo ó te sale plan con algún chico majo…. eso esta científicamente comprobado y esa así porque el mundo esta en contra de las que llevamos pelos.

De todas las maneras yo creo que la conspiración la hacen esas mujeres que no tienen pelos, que son las mismas a las que nunca se les nota la raya del tinte, ni les saltan lorcillas, y que llevan tacones y andan bien…. sí, sí,  hay mujeres así, son las mujeres perfectas; esas que ni siquiera sudan en el gimnasio.

Otro tema a parte es la “lepileidy”, que en mi casa se le llama “rotavator” mucho más gráfico ¿verdad? Bueno pues compramos uno de esos y mi amatxu y mi tía nos dijeron que era gloria que ni te enterabas. Ya, ya…. ellas que tienen pelo y medio en cada pierna…. Un día nos enchufamos el rotavator y nos dispusimos ha pasárnoslo. El ruido que hace ese cacharro es espantoso, es como prrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr constantemente, que podían ponerle un cancioncita que te relaje, por ejemplo la de “ahí estas tuuuuuu” que salía en el anuncio de Andalucía, de chambao. Bueno que me lío otra vez, que si tienes rastrojo ni se te ocurra pasártelo. ¡Que dañito! Cuántas veces me habrá dicho mi apatxo, que de depilación no tiene ni idea, que nos pasásemos la candileja, y la verdad que el hombre tenía mucha razón. ¿Qué se hacen con los rastrojos? pues quemarlos ¿no? Si es que…. porque no tengo una candileja a mano que sino….. arrasaba con todos.

Y hasta aquí llega este tema. Que quede claro, una por una, que nosotras somos muy apañadas a lo que depilación se refiere, pero comprendernos alguna… alguna…. vez nos dejamos, como cada cual.

From the reactions that I’ve heard this week, I’ve been thinking about what Coe said, and in this case, it would appear to be true. But the actions of athletic cheaters, like their white-collared counterparts, don’t just affect their own standing or accomplishments. Asbel Kiprop of Kenya and Nicholas Willis of New Zealand (pictured below on either side of Ramzi) came in second and third place respectively, and have been robbed of their experience of winning gold and silver, instead of the silver and bronze they received. Through Ramzi’s actions, they will never get that experience back.

Many (or realistically, 99.9 per cent) of us will never know what it is like to run in the Olympics or even to complete at an elite level. Watching the immense talent of these world-class athletes inspires and motivates us, showing us what heights the sport can be taken to given the right mix of training, determination and genetics.

We invest a little of ourselves in watching the elite runners, recognizing the shared passion and struggle, the investment and emotion inherent in what we do. So when one of the immortal elite fall, they fall far and they fall hard.

Coe is right when he says they won’t prosper (providing they’re caught). In truth, Ramzi will likely never regain the trust or credibility he has lost. In effect, his promising career is now over. And here is where I begin to find a sense of compassion for him on a human level. All the years, hours and countless miles he willingly sacrificed to the sport; all the effort and toil he went through has now been for nothing. I wonder what the moments leading up to him deciding to take the CERA were like; what situations, actions or words pushed him over the line of elite performance and into the realm of doping? It leaves one to ask the unanswerable question of, “why?”

The UCI has announced that veteran Italian classics specialist Davide Rebellin will be stripped of the silver medal he scored in the road race at the 2008 Olympic Games after testing positive for the blood-booster CERA. Read more here.

O COI notificou o CONI e agora é oficial: Davide Rebellin, o Matusalém do pelotão internacional terá que devolver sua medalha de prata, seu diploma e os 75 mil euros que ganhou nas Olimpíadas de Pequim.

Todos sabem, mas só recordando: Tin-tin ficou em segundo, atrás de Samuel Sanchez, mas em abril de 2009 novos exames comprovaram que ele havia usado CERA. Além de fazer parte da história pela sua longevidade esportiva, por ser um dos primeiros flagrados com CERA, é o primeiro italiano a ter que devolver uma medalha olímpica. Papelão total.

E pensar que eu até torci pra esse sujeito ganhar do espanhol.

In an agreement reached during last week’s International Actuarial Association meeting in Hyderabad a new qualification of CERA (Chartered Enterprise Risk Actuary) has been launched. The treaty was signed by the following bodies:

Vem (finalmente) chegando o verão. E se a estação mais quente do ano demorou tanto a chegar, não tem desculpa: é preciso estar com a depilação em ordem para encarar roupas mais curtas. Para que não haja erro e nada a impeça de usar aquelas peças que ficaram guardadas tanto tempo no armário, é importante acabar também com os pelos encravados, que dão um aspecto terrível à pele.

O dermatologista Aguinaldo Mirandez, diretor da Clínica de Dermatologia e Estética Perfetta e membro da Sociedade Brasileira de Dermatologia, afirmou que a escolha do método de depilação adequado, esfoliação leve, o uso de hidratantes para facilitar a saída do pelo, ajudam a prevenir.

Importante também é evitar a manipulação e o uso de roupas apertadas. “Mas se os cuidados não foram suficientes para prevenir, uma visita ao dermatologista deve ser providenciada para avaliar e indicar cremes com ácidos, antibacterianos, despigmentantes e, eventualmente, até antibióticos por via oral”, disse. Confira abaixo algumas 5 dicas do profissional para acabar com o problema.

1) Evite passar muito a mão ou tentar desencravar. As tentativas com uso de agulhas e pinças podem piorar o quadro com infecções e cicatrizes. É mais conveniente o uso de antissépticos, hidratantes e, conforme a necessidade, preparados com antibióticos que devem ser indicados pelo médico.

2) Prefira os cremes depilatórios e as lâminas. As depilações que retiram os pêlos abaixo da superfície da pele (cera ou aparelhos que arrancam pela raiz) podem favorecer o encravamento.

3) Os métodos mais modernos de depilação, como laser e luz pulsada, são os melhores para tratar e prevenir o problema.

4) Fuja das pinças. Além de favorecer a infecção secundária, a manipulação com pinças, agulhas e outros instrumentos pode levar a machucados que produzem cicatrizes, muitas vezes de difícil tratamento.

5) Há no mercado diversas opções de esfoliantes. O uso de uma bucha pode ajudar. A frequência adequada é de uma a duas vezes por semana, em movimentos circulares.

Thurs: Finish packing. Get U-Haul.

Fri: Gather last minute items (computer, speakers, etc). Load truck. Say goodbye. Sleep.

Sat: IHOP after work. Gather cats. And then I’m fucking out of here.

Time’s FLYING. I mean, not like “Man, I had a good weekend but it wasn’t long enough”-flying. I mean. Fucking. Flying. And I couldn’t be happier, because not one single part of me wants to stay here a second longer than I have to.

I *hope* to get homearound 3pm. Dad will be there waiting to help me unload. Yay for dads! We’re going to save all the heavy/storage stuff for Sunday though. Mom will conveniently get home from work at 6, when all the unloading is finished. *shakes head* She’s clever, that one.

The toughest part of the move will be about the cats. Getting them used to everything. It’s going to be rough. But I hope they love it there as much as I do. I know they’ll be glad to be gone from Kara. I just hope Chandler doesn’t try to maul them. *sigh*

Then!!!!! Then Cera & Jenn are going to come over. And that’s when things are going to get good. *so happy* They’re taking me out to dinner. *celebrate*!!!

Then Sunday pops & I will unload the heavy junk into the storage place, and tttttttheeeeennnnnnn….. BOWLING!!!!!! omfg. I can’t tell you how fucking excited Cera and I are about bowling. We seriously become obsessed with stuff way too easily. lol. First screen printing/stenciling, now bowling. Geez. Good thing we don’t do drugs. lol

So. Um. I can’t even sleep, that’s how excited I am. Like night-before-xmas anxiety. Just, can’t fucking do it. I lie down, and my eyes simply will not close. So, it’s an all-nighter for tonight to remedy that.

Non potevo non condividere col mondo questo video incredibile! Infatti una compagnia pubblicitaria tedesca, in occasione di una fiera del libro a Francoforte, ha attaccato alle mosche tramite una specie di cera (che dicono si sciolga da sola in massimo qualche ora) dei piccoli striscioni pubblicitari. Così svolazzano in giro queste pubblicità nei padiglioni della fiera… incredibile!

A Gazzeta revela hoje que há vários suspeitos de batotagem no Giro 2008. Em maio a promotoria de Padua confiscou 83 amostras de urina feitas na prova após declarações de Emanuele Sella sobre o consumo de CERA.

As amostras foram reanalisadas no laboratório de Roma em busca dessa substância e os resultados de 6 ou 7 corredores apresentaram anomalias.

Assim o CONI pediu a UCI liberação para poder comparar as amostras com as do laboratório de Lausana. A entidade deu sinal verde e as análises começam nas próximas semanas e os resultados devem sair em dois meses.

Last Spring, I wrote that the market leadership for the energy information vertical was up for grabs as several of the dominant players stumbled, some of the biggest traditional energy consultancies tightened their focus and the recession undermined the weaker contenders.  You can read the complete story here. So I thought it time to check up on the progress, read some signposts and assess who is gaining traction and who is not.  Here’s my take:

So what’s the Verdict from Reading the Signposts?

Last Spring I said that both IHS and Ventyx had the potential to dominate the energy analytics vertical space,  but WoodMac,while smaller could sneak up on them.  Then WoodMac was threatened with a near death experience by the failure of Candover but now seems to have landed on its feet with an enthusiastic new private equity owner in Charter House.

Of these five firms, I believe WoodMac has the best growth potential in the energy analytics space and is the one most likely to positively surprise clients with its breadth and depth.  It is also faster, more nimble, resourceful and more client facing at the front line of transactions and decisions.  WoodMac still needs to add bench strength in electric power to achieve dominance in this vertical but it is increasingly capable of stinging competitors, taking market share and delighting clients with better decision analysis and more actionable advice.

SAIC acquired RWBECK and with it added bench strength in energy, transmission and water.  While the riskiest part of any acquisition is the integration process, if SAIC can use RWBECK to boost its capabilities to compete with ICF and others for large Federal defense, science and policy implementation consulting projects near term and leverage Beck’s power and water regional practices to create platforms for growth long term as a Plan B this will be a VERY shrewd move.

ICF is a capable, qualified consulting firm focused on big federal contracts.  That’s good when you can get them but it is tough to replace a $20 million contract when the money runs out.  None of the other ICF practice areas, while solid, can make up for such large contract turnover. I think ICF is weaker than SAIC and more vulnerable to shifting winds in Washington spending habits. It is more likely prey for a larger company that seeks a solid government contracts revenue foundation.

IHS remains the player with the most raw potential but the weakest vision and execution of how to integrate its many acquisitions into a unified whole and leverage its global core competencies.  I loved working there and want to root for it to succeed.  Today, the biggest strategic weakness is electric power and the lack of a clear IHS vision to integrate power and its environmental services business domain into a unified vision around delivering on the promise of smart grid technology advances, environmental strategy and compliance with emissions reduction, and a sustainable, reliable, affordable electric power supply chain across global markets.  If it can do so, it can dominate the space.

Ventyx dominated the market space for energy analytics, consulting, advisory services and their leverage, but it chose to focus on operations and logistics software where its products are solid but Ventyx must compete with much larger players like Oracle and SAP in the enterprise solutions space.   Its recent acquisition of the Structure Group nMarkets software products is a good one. Ventyx has been bulking up its SmartGrid offering to stay competitive and improve its valuation.

The growing use of biofuels, including ethanol, and stricter fuel-efficiency standards for vehicles have reduced oil consumption in the U.S. and other industrialized economies, according to a report from IHS Cambridge Energy Research Associates (IHS CERA). The study found that oil demand in countries that belong to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) reached its peak in 2005 — before the global downturn began — and will not recover. Global oil use is still expected to increase, with China and other emerging countries driving the growth. However, one of the leading emerging countries will buck this trend. Brazil has already reduced half of its gasoline consumption with sugarcane ethanol.
