<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Living Edge has recently partnered with <a href="http://www.ceres.org.au/">CERES Environmental park</a> in Brunswick East, VIC to support a program called the EcoHouse. EcoHouse is a project that has been running since the 1980&#8217;s that promotes energy and water conservation, but has recently been redesigned to show that sustainable design can not only reduce costs and reduce the environmental impact but also create a beautiful architecturally designed home as well.</p>
<p>This summer CERES will be running a series of free workshops and we&#8217;re proud that LE staff member Mary Holmes will be presenting at the February workshop, which focuses on sustainable home renovation and making environmentally aware choices when it comes to selecting building materials, fittings and furnishings. <description><![CDATA[Discutia care se poarta in ultimul timp se axeaza pe lipsa de interes a oamenilor fata de biserica. ]]></description>
<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p><img src="http://cristiand.wordpress.com/files/2009/05/back-to-church-cartoon.gif?w=290" alt="back-to-church-cartoon" title="back-to-church-cartoon" width="290" height="300" class="alignleft size-medium wp-image-219" />Discutia care se poarta in ultimul timp se axeaza pe lipsa de interes a oamenilor fata de biserica. Suntem tentati sa aruncam vina asupra societatii in ansamblu, si asupra valorilor ei (sau lipsei de valori): sex, droguri, rock, hedonism/consumerism, distractie, etc. Remarcam ca nu mai au notiunea pacatului. Insa aceleasi tare ale societatii existau (intr-o forma sau alta) si in primul secol cand biserica a facut pasi uriasi in dezvoltarea ei. Oamenii sunt flamanzi spiritual si debusolati, si asta nu poate fi contestat. David Beckham spunea, la nasterea fiului sau, Brooklyn, ca are un simtamant al spiritualitatii si ca ar vrea ca fiul sau sa fie botezat, doar ca nu stie inca in ce biserica. </p>
<p>Religia neinstitutionalizata este prezenta peste tot. Oamenii cauta un sens in viata, o directie, desi nu spun ca il cauta pe Dumnezeu. Limbajul poate sa difere, dar realitatea este aceeasi. Poate ca discutia despre religie versus stiinta nu mai trezeste acelasi interes ca acum cativa (zeci de) ani in urma, dar asta nu inseamna ca a disparut interesul pentru religie ci doar ca accentul este pus pe altceva. Probabil ca oamenii s-au saturat de o religie si un Dumnezeu care le impune standarde imposibil de atins, cu perspectiva judecatii si a iadului sau a focului vesnic. Sau care este atat de iubitor incat trece cu vederea orice, mai ales celor care te nedreptatesc? Intr-o societate in care nedreptatea a atins cote maxime, cine mai este interesat de un Dumnezeu care este doar bun si iubitor? Daca Dumnezeu este ca si justitia, politia, si parlamentul, la ce bun sa mai crezi in el? Care biserica il prezinta pe Dumnezeu in mod echilibrat, sincer interesat de fiecare dintre noi? Si care biserica <em>demonstreaza</em> in mod practic ca un astfel de Dumnezeu inca exista? Aceasta este intrebarea pe care omul contemporan o adreseaza. </p>
<p>Bogatii stiu bine ca averea nu le garanteaza siguranta, dar in cercul lor stramt si rece nu exista interes pentru biserica, pentru ca biserica doar cere, nu ofera. Nenumarate exemple stau marturie ca dincolo de aparente exista un gol sufletesc pe care il poate umple doar Dumnezeu. Omul stie ca il asteapta condamnarea, fie in viata aceasta, fie la ziua de apoi, si nu este receptiv la cineva care doar ii reaminteste realitatea viitoare. Luati cazurile Erbasu, sau Mircea Stanescu care isi pune capat vietii la 39 de ani! Si nu sunt singurele cazuri. Oamenii au nevoie de cineva care sa le ofere o speranta, nu sa le aminteasca doar incotro se indreapta oricum. </p>
<p>Daca nu avem noi insine o imagine corecta despre Dumnezeu, nu o vom putea oferi altora. Vom fi doar o alta varianta a Martorilor lui Iehova, care prezinta un Dumnezeu groaznic care doar stie sa acuze. Iar &#8220;vestea cea buna&#8221; sau mantuirea sta in numarul orelor de &#8220;amenintat&#8221; trecatorii. Ne mai miram de ce oamenii nu manifesta interes pentru biserica? Sansa bisericii in conjunctura actuala este una imensa. Sa devina relevanta. Sa ofere hrana spirituala unei societati infometate. Va surprind rating-urile OTV-ului? Este doar un raspuns la interesul pentru o lume mai buna, pentru dreptate, pentru implinire, pentru speranta. Din pacate, de la o sursa fara speranta, iluzorie.</p>
<p>Biserica are exemplul biblic al parintelui care, desi fiul sau l-a tradat, i-a dorit moartea, l-a facut de rusine, si i-a risipit averea, face un gest care nu poate ramane neobservat: il imbratiseaza. Il accepta, si il ajuta sa se schimbe. Asa arata biserica lui Hristos pe care o lume intreaga o asteapta. Ca pe o imbratisare iubitoare.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p style="font-size:11px;font-family:Tahoma, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;margin:3px 0 11px;"><strong>(GREEK NEWS AGENDA)   </strong>Focusing on Greece’s energy agenda for the present year and the complexity of the international energy environment, Dr. Constantinos Filis, head of Russia &#38; Eurasia Centre at the Athens-based Institute of International Relations (<a href="http://www.cere.gr/"><span><span style="color:#0066ff;">www.cere.gr</span></span></a>), underlines that in the 2007 the groundwork was laid for the implementation of three energy projects of major importance for Greece: the Burgas-Alexandroupoli oil pipeline; the Interconnector Turkey-Greece-Italy (ITGI); and the South Stream natural gas pipeline.  If these projects see completion, Greece will emerge as an oil and natural gas conduit-another link in the European hydrocarbon supply chain originating in the Caspian basin, if not a Southeast European energy hub- and will enjoy a correspondingly enhanced geostrategic role. <p>Dumnezeu nu este hamalul nimănui şi nici nu are nevoie de vreunul din noi, însă chiar dacă ar avea, tot pământul e al Lui, se va descurca &#8230; dar noi!? avem o nevoie disperată de El!</p>
<p>Esenţa păcatului? chiar şi a celuia de a dori să fii prieten cu lumea e <strong>mândria </strong>- <em>Dumnezeu stă împotriva celor mândri dar dă har celor smeriţi.</em></p>
<p>Când credem că ne descurcăm şi singurei, că putem merge, vorbi şi trăi oricum. Când credem că am făcut destul, şi că noi într-adevăr merităm o pauză, când sunte mândri ni se ia HARUL. Harul de a fi ascultaţi, de-ak experimenta şi cunoaşte pe El, de a primi răspuns la rugăciuni şi totuşi ni se răspunde la o rugăciune, ce fascinant si bun e Dumnezeu, rugăciunea pocăinţei.</p>
<p>Soluţia? &#8211; treci la fapte, acceptă harul, smereşte-te, supune-te, apropie-te de Dumnezeu.</p>
<p>Adevărata şi profunda apropiere de El aduce curăţire, simţi ticăloşia şi nevrednicia proprie, şi gravitatea păcatului tău, Duhul Lui te cercetează, te zdrobeşte şi atunci plângi, atunci te rogi şi te tânguieşti!!! e ceva ce Duhul face! Cunoşti tu aşa ceva?</p>
<p>Vorbim despre acelaşi text după cum urmează, Iacov 4:7-10</p>
<blockquote><p><span style="font-family:Arial;color:black;font-size:x-small;"><span style="color:red;"><strong>7</strong></span> <strong>Supuneţi-vă</strong> dar lui Dumnezeu. Împotriviţi-vă diavolului, şi el va fugi de la voi.<br />
<span style="color:red;"><strong>8</strong></span> <strong>Apropiaţi-vă de Dumnezeu</strong>, şi El Se va apropia de voi. Curăţiţi-vă mâinile, păcătoşilor; curăţiţi-vă inima, oameni cu inima împărţită!<br />
<span style="color:red;"><strong>9</strong></span> <strong>Simţiţi-vă ticăloşia; tânguiţi-vă şi plângeţi!</strong> Râsul vostru să se prefacă în tânguire, şi bucuria voastră în întristare:<br />
<span style="color:red;"><strong>10</strong></span> <strong>Smeriţi-vă</strong> înaintea Domnului, şi El vă va înălţa. </span></p></blockquote>
<p>Partea noastră în apropierea de Dumnezeu e dorinţa şi atunci El se va apropia de noi.</p>
<p>Mă văd nevoit să repet şi să accentuez, Rugăciunea omului EGOIST este împiedicată. Dragostea noastră faţă de Dumnezeu se concretizează şi în faptul că ne iubim semenii, aproapele, fraţii, sau cel puţin una din dovezile care sprijinesc aceasta este tocmai că ne rugăm pentru ei, ne rugăm pentru nemântuiţi, ne rugăm pentru cei rătăciţi şi ne rugăm pentru necazurile lor, bolile şi problemele fraţilor noştri (Iacov 5:16,17)</p>
<p>De asemeni, Dumnezeu nu răspunde oamenilor dezinteresaţi, oamenilor lipsiţi de dragoste, devotament, de pasiune şi de foc, oamenilor care nu se roagă pentru a primi răspuns.</p>

<p>Care sunt <strong>gândurile bune</strong> sau care este <strong>gândul bun</strong>?</p>
<p>În aceeaşi epistolă în capitolul 1, apostolul Iacov spune <em>dacă vreounuia dintre voi îi lipseşte î</em><a href="http://trezirespirituala.files.wordpress.com/2008/07/question_mark2.jpg"><img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-130" src="http://trezirespirituala.wordpress.com/files/2008/07/question_mark2.jpg?w=246" alt="" width="144" height="176" /></a><em>nţelepciunea, s-o ceară de la Dumnezeu &#8230; </em>- înţelepciunea e un gând bun. În acelaşi capitol urmează câteva versete despre <strong>smerenie </strong>care cu siguranţă că este un gând bun.</p>
<p>Ce înseamnă să ceri cu <strong>gând rău</strong>? E acelaşi lucru cu a cere cu gând de a risipi, de a te distra, de aţi satisface propriile dorinţe egoiste şi fireşti. Şi chiar aşa, de ce nu le primim? &#8211; pentru că aceste lucruri întotdeauna ne îndepărtează de Dumnezeu (<em>ci fiecare este ispitit când este atras de pofta lui însuşi şi momit 1:14,</em><em> apoi pofta dă naştere păcatului şi păcatul odată înfăptuit aduce moartea). </em></p>
<p>E cât se poate de clar şi limpede, Dumnezeu nu vrea ca să păcătuim, pentru că El este vechea antiteză a păcatului, îl urâşte, îi este scârbă de el şi nu-l suportă, nu poate sta în prezenţa pervertirii, de aceea nu poate îngădui să primim ceva care ne-ar momi spre păcat.</p>
<p>E posibil totuşi să cerem de exemplu, <strong>daruri</strong> care sunt bune, de la Dumnezeu, şi a cere daruri nu este un lucru greşit pentru că Dumnezeu dă <em>tuturor cu mână largă şi fără mustrare şi orice ni se dă bun şi orice dar desăvârşit este de sus</em> însă putem să facem aceasta cu un scop sau o motivaţie greşită, şi anume: aceea de a creşte în ochii oamenilor de exemplu, aceea de a ne aduce nouă slavă, de a deveni cunoscuţi &#8211; şi toate acestea sunt scopuri egoiste şi demonice pentru că Satan de la început a căutat slava sa proprie. Duhul Sfânt este cel care ne dă daruri, cel care ne botează însă EL întotdeauna o face pentru glorificarea lui Hristos, dacă aşteptăm<em>minuni </em>din partea lui Dumnezeu şi <em>daruri </em>şi suntem în acelaşi timp mânaţi de scopuri greşite, riscăm să cerem <em>stăruind </em>poate şi totuşi să nu primim nimic; pe lângă aceasta putem să cădem şi în deznădejde din cauză că nu primim ceva <strong>bun</strong>.</p>
<p>Uneori cerem, fără înţelepciune, ne grăbim în a primi &#8211; la fel, fără înţelepciune şi Dumnezeu refuză să ne dea, iar în urma refuzului său suntem pasibili de o depresie spirituală, pentru că noi credem că <strong>gândul </strong>nostru a fost bun şi motivaţia la fel. Însă în acest caz, e posibil să ne lipsească înţelepciunea de a administra bunurile primite de la Dumnezeu şi ne-am face un mai mare rău dacă le-am primi, pentru că le-am risipi. E bine să cere înainte de toate înţelepciune pentru o administrare şi folosire corectă a tot ceea ce primim din mâna lui Dumnezeu. Gândiţi-vă de exemplu la exagerările care existau în Corint în urma botezului cu Duhul Sfânt şi la dezordinea din Biserică, nu insinuez că Dumnezeu a greşit dându-le daruri credincioşilor acelora însă nu putem nega că mulţi dintre ei nu deţineau o înţelepciune pentru folosirea lor.</p>
<p>Cum putem fi atât de făţarnici şi să cerem lucruri de la Dumnezeu când inima noastră tânjeşte după lucrurile lumii? Oare nu-L cunoaştem pe Dumnezeu? Oare credem că-L putem păcăli? Oare nu ne ştie El mai bine decât noi înşine? Cum credem că va trece Domnul Isus pe lângă făţărniciile noastre &#8211; priviţi cum s-a comportat cu fariseii, Dumnezeu nu se schimbă, în El nu este umbră de mutare &#8230; se pare că vom avea parte de acelaşi tratament, de asemeni priviţi la cazul lui Petru, Barnaba şi confruntarea cu Pavel.</p>
<p>Nu e de mirare că Dumnezeu nu te ia în seamă, nu e impresionat şi nici cicălit de rugăciunile tale, cel mai probabil îi este scârbă. <span style="font-size:x-small;font-family:Arial;color:black;"> <em>şi oricât de mult v-aţi ruga, n-ascult: căci mâinile vă sunt pline de sânge</em></span></p>
<p>Poate ceri lucruri bune, dar unde ai fost până acum?</p>

<p><em>Aprirà tra due giorni, ma sono settimane che il museo di Madame Tussauds di Berlino è al centro delle polemiche. Il motivo è la statua di cera che ritrae il dittatore Adolf Hitler, le cui foto sono state rilasciate oggi. In molti si chiedono se sia necessario che il Fuhrer venga esposto nella collezione di personaggi famosi accanto al presidente francese Nicolas Sarkozy e al filosofo Karl Marx. Un politico della Cdu ha definito la statua &#8220;disgustosa&#8221;. Ma una portavoce del museo, Natalie Ruoss, ha spiegato che è stata data molta attenzione al contesto in cui il dittatore del Terzo Reich è rappresentato: non come una figura da riverire, ma come un uomo fallito, ritratto nel suo bunker agli sgoccioli della Seconda Guerra Mondiale.</em></p>

<title><![CDATA[Cere on Same-Sex Marriage]]></title>

Eleven academics come together in this one volume to offer their analysis from their respective areas of specialization. </div>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent:.25in;font-family:georgia;text-align:justify;">Of particular interest is the essay written by one of the editors, Daniel Cere, entitled “War of the Ring.” Cere provides a historical survey of recent Canadian politics related to same-sex marriage, going back only a few years to 1999 when the federal parliament reaffirmed the traditional definition of marriage. How far we have come in so short a time! Cere catalogues the main events that took place explaining how Canada has got to where it is today. It has been a frightening ride, especially for one like myself who is horrified by the over-reaching arm of the state and government interventionism. I enjoy my democratic freedom as a Canadian, and to read the events that brought same-sex marriage in Canada to a legal status is nothing short of scary. Canadian rights and opinions have been left in a lurch in favour of the opinions of elitist politicians and judges who act as though they were a law unto themselves. Cere also offers a philosophical analysis of this change in marriage, poking at the presuppositions that lie behind this burning desire to push same-sex legislation through the courts at the cost of Canadian freedom.</p>
<div style="text-align:justify;"><span lang="EN-CA" style="font-family:georgia;"><span style="font-weight:bold;">Historical Analysis</span> </span><br /><span lang="EN-CA" style="font-family:georgia;"></span>  </div>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="font-family:georgia;text-align:justify;">As noted, the Canadian parliament reaffirmed the traditional definition of marriage in 1999 as between one man and one woman with the final vote of 216 to 55. In 2001 however, the British Columbia Supreme Court was faced with the first same-sex marriage case to be adjudicated on in Canada. They rejected it claiming that a change to the Canadian Constitution was needed before they could rule in the favour of the complainants. Of course, the impetus for change came in 2002 when the Ontario Supreme Court challenged the traditional definition of marriage in <i>Halpern </i>vs. <i>Canada</i>. After <i>Halpern</i> both the Quebec and B.C. Superior Courts followed suit. In the Ontario ruling, although not a specific redefinition of remarriage was offered, the court did rule that the existing definition was discriminatory.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent:.25in;font-family:georgia;text-align:justify;">The <i>Halpern</i> ruling “suggested three possible remedies: (a) redefine marriage as a union of two persons, or (b) establish a domestic partnership regime that would offer legal recognition for same-sex couples, or (c) abolish marriage as a category in law and set up some kind of neutral registry system” (<i>Divorcing Marriage</i>, 10).</p>
<div style="text-align:justify;">  </div>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent:.25in;font-family:georgia;text-align:justify;">In a move of Orwellian proportions, <i>Halpern </i>gave the government a two-year period to “consider legislative options” (<i>Ibid</i>). If the government failed to act quickly <i>the courts would implement their change</i>. For those who think that courts aren’t dangerous and don’t run the country, think again.</p>
<div style="text-align:justify;">  </div>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent:.25in;font-family:georgia;text-align:justify;">Responding to the <i>Halpern</i> request, the federal government set up a committee that travelled across Canada interviewing Canadians to find out their views on this issue. This appears to be the democratic thing to do and would have been if the courts had left it alone and let it play its course. The committee started their east to west tour of Canada in January and by June 10, 2003, the Ontario Court of Appeal stepped up and “declared that it would not bother to wait for the government, or for Canadians, to consider new legislative responses” (<i>Ibid</i>). Do we live in a free country where Canadians actually have a say? Or do we live in a court ruled by a totalitarian regime rendering the average citizen no meaning or opinion? When reading of this I realised that my opinion as a Canadian didn’t matter. It was the court’s way or the highway.</p>
<div style="text-align:justify;">  </div>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent:.25in;font-family:georgia;text-align:justify;">By June 12, 2003 the committee touring across Canada was called in and by June 17, 2003 “the federal cabinet announced that it would draft legislation changing the definition of marriage” (<i>DM</i>, 11). What happened to democracy? What happened to listening to the people? As can be seen from this ruling and parliamentary decision, Canada is not truly democratic. Socialism reigns supreme in Canada, and top-down decisions are the norm. The same-sex marriage issue is not the only one where Canadian values really aren’t considered.</p>
<div style="text-align:justify;">    <span style="font-weight:bold;font-family:georgia;">Close Relationships</span>  </div>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="font-family:georgia;text-align:justify;">The change from the traditional definition of marriage is based upon the idea promulgated by the socialist elite in government and in the courts (not to mention the state-funded media) that marriage that is only heterosexual is discriminatory. Instead, a definition based upon “close relationships” was offered and accepted. This means that the traditional view with its definition of marriage based upon the ability to procreate and nurture is done away with in favour of a definition based upon “emotional, psychological, or sexual satisfaction” (<i>DM</i>, 12). As Cere defines close, or “pure,” relationships:</p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left:27pt;font-family:georgia;text-align:justify;">Pure relationships, unlike marriages, are the ever-changing product of private negotiation. In so far as marriage itself is drawn into this new culture of intimacy, it is placed on a level playing field with all other ‘long-term’ sexual partnerships. Severed from its historic roots in sex difference, permanence, and children, it becomes nothing other or more than a form of intimacy between consenting adults (<i>Ibid</i>).</p>

<p style="font-family:georgia;text-align:justify;" class="MsoBodyText">As Cere rightly observes, this makes “marriage” malleable, open to change, easy to contract and easy to dissolve.</p>

<p style="font-family:georgia;text-align:justify;" class="MsoBodyText">It has been noted that the actions of the court and the Liberal parliament at that time were anti-democratic in that they forced legislation without considering the values of Canadian citizens. But there is another, greater sense in which freedom is being robbed from Canadians, as Cere points out. By changing the definition of marriage to make room for homosexuals, heterosexual marriage by default becomes meaningless. Cere offers a quote by Ladelle McWhorter, a gay and lesbian theorist, who makes some striking statements about the ramifications that same-sex marriage will have on opposite-sex marriage. She says, “our presence will change those institutions…enough to undermine their preferred version of heterosexuality and, in turn, they themselves will not be the same” [McWhorter, <i>Bodies and Pleasures: Foucault and the Politics of Sexual Normalization</i> (Bloomington: Indiana University Press, 1999), 125 cited in <i>DM</i>, 14]. Cere follows this quote with another like it from the Ontario Court of Appeal that argued that the meaning of marriage must meet “the needs, capacities and circumstances of same-sex couples, not…the needs, capacities and circumstances of opposite-sex couples.” It is incredible that for the sake of a minority, who statistically do not get married, an institution is drastically changed and denigrated so that those who do use it are left with practically nothing.</p>

<p style="font-family:georgia;text-align:justify;" class="MsoBodyText"><b>Russia</b><b></b></p>
<div style="text-align:justify;">    </div>
<p style="font-family:georgia;text-align:justify;" class="MsoBodyText"><b></b>Another aspect of Cere’s essay that particularly enlightening was the connection that he drew between the redefinition of marriage and Marxism. For a while now I have been involved myself in the study of whether or not Marxism has left the west. It has occurred to me in this essay that Marxism is not gone, though it lies quietly under the surface of Canadian politics. </p>
<div style="text-align:justify;">  </div>
<p class="MsoBodyText" style="text-indent:.25in;font-family:georgia;text-align:justify;">Cere draws the link between the “close-relationship paradigm” to Karl Marx’s comrade-in-arms, Friederich Engels. Teaming with famed “sexologists” such as Margaret Mead and Aldred Kinsey, the Soviet Marxists brought this paradigm into Russia. The resulting consequences were damaging to Russian society. Cere provides an example in the Soviet feminist Aleksandra Kollantai.</p>
<div style="text-align:justify;">  </div>
<p class="MsoBodyText" style="text-indent:.25in;font-family:georgia;text-align:justify;">Kollantai was, as Cere says, “an enthusiastic proponent of this vision of marriage” (<i>DM</i>, 16). She advocated that a new marriage culture must be enacted based only upon “mutual love.” Kollantai was the Commissar of Social Welfare in Russia and had the authority to put this new version of watered-down marriage into practice. This was done in the 1920s and by the 1930s the society was in serious trouble. Cere notes that the average Russian family had become destabilized and divorce rates were on the rise. “Temporary cohabitation” was common, birth rates were in decline and children fell through the cracks of broken marriages and often ended up on the streets. By 1936 the Soviets began to reverse their policies on marriage recognising the negative effect it was having on the country. Unfortunately, Canadians don’t learn from history.</p>
<p style="font-family:georgia;text-align:justify;" class="MsoBodyText"><b>Canada</b><b></b></p>
<p style="font-family:georgia;text-align:justify;" class="MsoBodyText">Even before same-sex marriage was on the books in Canada, policies were in place that slowly eroded society on family-lines. With abortion, no-fault divorce and now same-sex marriage, the statistics in Canada are akin to those of Russia in the twenties and thirties. It is even worse in Quebec where a postmodern, pluralistic mindset has gripped the people. The statistics that Cere provides are frightening. For instance, in Canada the marriage rate went from 7.1 in 1987 to 5.1 in 1998. The divorce rate is at 40% and the average age of marrying is 32 for women and 34 for men; it was much younger in the sixties. Cohabitation has “more than doubled” Cere says since 1981 and single-parent families have risen 50% since then. Cere sums up his findings by saying, “Canadians, in other words, are increasingly having difficulty in forming and maintaining families. They are also bringing fewer children into the world” (<i>DM</i>, 18). </p>

<p class="MsoBodyText" style="text-indent:.25in;font-family:georgia;text-align:justify;">In spite of the negative attitude that is directed to those of who advocate retaining the traditional definition of marriage, the majority of Canadians are statistically in favour of the traditional view; 67% in fact. As Cere insightfully observes, Canadian views are not based on prejudice, rather on the recognition that as marriage goes, so goes the country. In fact, most of those in favour of keeping the traditional definition are also in favour of giving benefits to homosexual couples. </p>
<div style="text-align:justify;">    </div>
<p style="font-family:georgia;text-align:justify;" class="MsoBodyText"><b>Conclusion</b></p>

<p style="text-align:justify;" class="MsoBodyText"><span lang="EN-CA" style="font-family:MrsEavesRoman;"><span style="font-family:georgia;">There is much more to Cere’s essay that goes beyond the scope of this blogpost. Cere does well both in his evaluation of polygamy and polyamory. He also does well in evaluating the presuppositions that drive the push for same-sex marriage; for more on that you will have to read the rest of his article. He also brings up interesting discussions as to why Svend Robinson had declined to “marry” his partner even after same-sex marriage was made legal, and the statistics that demonstrate that most gay couples do not actually want to get married. Cere does a good job explaining why marriage necessitates commitment, which is something that many homosexuals, who are often promiscuous, do not always want. The point of this evaluation was to demonstrate, based on Cere’s work, that an agenda exists within government that vies for state control over Canadians. The prime example of this wanted to point out is found in the historical example of same-sex marriage. I hope that readers of this blog will pick up </span><i>Divorcing Marriage</i><span style="font-family:georgia;"> and read Cere and the other authors for themselves. It will hopefully prove to be an eye-opener for Canadians and a catalyst for change in this country.</span></span></p>
