<p>Huhuhu&#8230;in class, we decided to do <strong>an activity</strong> for the holidays, called <em><strong>&#8216;L&#8217;Ange&#8217;</strong></em> (Angel) or<em> <strong>&#8216;Ami secret&#8217;</strong></em> (Secret friend). You guys probably heard of this game, but i don&#8217;t know how it&#8217;s called in the US&#8230;<strong>Rules:</strong></p>

<p>Normally, I <strong>hate</strong> this game because every year, I end up spending lots of <strong>time</strong> and <strong>money</strong> preparing my presents, and all I recieve is a few little messages written in one second on a lined paper.</p>

<p>I cannot really believe myself but I started to exercise. With Pilates. I like Pilates and theres not much to tell about it because those efforts are well known. I dont have a plan about exercising I just feel the need to do it now and then. Who knows for how long! <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>My food is more vegan than raw vegan these days. I added some cereals and soymilk. And my moms deliciuos bread. Oh, its so delish&#8230; but I feel my body responsing to it immediately. The bread makes me stinky somehow. And the cereals dont keep me satisfied, just full. Strange to explain. I have no words either for that.</p>

<p>I also love to have a smoothie in the morning. Mostly Banango or banana + orange and as a special treat blueberry-banana-smoothie (because blueberries are not so much in season now and expensive as well, so I try not to take one so often.) The same goes with raspberries. I cant resist when I see some and to blend them with a banana is sooooo delicious! Ive called this pink sunshine because its exactly what came into my mind when I enjoyed it:</p>

<p>So Christmas is coming soon and I hope you enjoy this time as I do. The Christmas market is right infront of my doorstep, and you guess it &#8211; its the reason why Im not all raw these days. But these days will go by and its fine. And I plan to do a detox after christmas. Maybe a 3-day-detox, a juice fast or water fast? Hm, well see. And afterwards I want to eat less raw gourmet and less nuts. Although Im not eating much of them now. I think its good to eat just fruits, greens and vegetables just as they are for a few days. The days between christmas and new year are perfect for that. Ill keep you posted.</p>
<p>Actually Im reading books about shamans and esp. Totems/Power Animals (dont find a exact translation). When I started to read a book about that I cried nearly every few pages. Usually Im not crying often but this really touched me. It was like coming home, like missing something (which I didnt knew) and suddenly coming back, knowing it all has been here before (and always will). Listening to shaman drums makes something with me and I cannot express what it is.</p>

<title><![CDATA[Apple crumble pie]]></title>

4 apples<br />
1 cup of sugar (cane is the best)<br />
1 cup of flour<br />
1 cup of oats<br />
1/2 cup of margarine<br />
1 tsp of cinnamon<br />
1/4 tsp of nutmeg<br />
1/4 tsp of salt</p>
<p>Peel the apples, unseed them and slice them really finely.<br />
In a bowl toss the apples, 1/4 cup of sugar, 1/2 tsp of cinnamon.<br />
Delay the shortcrust pastry in a pie pan.<br />
Nicely set the apples.<br />
In a bowl combine the oats, the flour, the margarine cut in little pieces, the nutmeg, the sugar, the cinnamon, the salt and work with your finger tips until you get a crumby mixture.<br />
Sprinkle the topping on the apples.<br />
Cover with a foil and bake for 45 minutes in a preheated oven at 190°C/375°F. Uncover and bake 10 more minutes.<br />
Let it cool a little on some wire racks  and serve.</p>

<p style="text-align:left;"> Yeah, so for the next 6 months, those doctors can do everything they want with me. <strong>I&#8217;m their little toy.</strong></p>
<p style="text-align:left;">For the next 6 months, I&#8217;m going to hear <em><span style="color:#ff9900;">&#8216;You&#8217;re anorexic&#8217;</span></em> over and over. Even if <strong>they</strong> are the <em>&#8217;string</em>&#8216; that connects me with ED. Screw those <em><span style="color:#ff9900;">&#8216;We are specialists&#8217;</span></em> excuses.</p>
<p style="text-align:left;">Just going to get more bitchy with them. After all, it&#8217;s not a piece of paper written with a <span style="color:#ff9900;"><em>&#8216;we give the doctors every rights&#8217;</em> </span>that&#8217;ll change my attitude toward them:</p>

<p style="text-align:left;"><strong>Let&#8217;s make it clear:</strong> I&#8217;m missing a class every single week since october to go to their appointement, how&#8217;s that not collaborating? If I were smiling to them, I&#8217;ll be more <em>&#8216;collaborative&#8217;</em>? <strong>Bullshit.</strong></p>
<p style="text-align:left;">And my lawyer didn&#8217;t even call me after the court. She&#8217;s doesn&#8217;t give a damn about my case: <span style="color:#ff0000;">just getting her money, that&#8217;s all that matters</span>. They all work for the doctors, it&#8217;s so frustrating: the court was just a disguise to make it more <em>&#8217;serious&#8217;.</em></p>
<p style="text-align:left;">One of the excuse they use is to keep me is they want my bp at 120/80. My mom is worried I might get prehypertension: a bp this high is not normal for me, <a href="http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/dci/Diseases/Hbp/HBP_WhatIs.html">even for normal people (click).</a> But who am I to say this? After all, the doctors are &#8217;specialists&#8217;&#8230;Screw them.</p>
<p style="text-align:left;">Ok let&#8217;s not talk about this anymore. It&#8217;s really turning me down. My mom tells me to do as if the doctors were not here.</p>

<title><![CDATA[Hidden Vitamin Deficiencies: Not just a concern for vegetarians]]></title>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>You would be surprised to know that most of us do not get enough of the simplest vitamins that our body needs.  Vitamin deficiencies are most often seen in those with overly restrictive diets, like vegetarians, for example. If you are vegetarian or are thinking about becoming vegetarian there are 5 vitamins you should be concerned about not getting enough of: Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Calcium, Iron, and Zinc. Not sure which type of vegetarian you are?</p>
<p>Here are the types:</p>
<p>Pescetarian: you eat no red meat or poultry but you do eat fish</p>
<p>Lacto-Ovo vegetarian: you eat no red meat, poultry, or fish, but you do consume dairy products and eggs</p>
<p>Vegan:  you eat plant foods only</p>
<p>Depending on which restrictive diet you have, you will need to educate yourself on which foods to eat to ensure that you are getting the proper nutrients.  B12 is necessary for proper functioning of your nervous system and without it you can develop anemia or bouts of irritability.  Here&#8217;s the kicker for vegetarians, B12 is the only nutrient that is NOT found in plants&#8230;kinda goes against everything you believe in if you don&#8217;t eat meat, right?   So if you do not eat meat, fish, eggs, or dairy products, make sure you are getting B12 through fortification in soy milk, vegetable stock, veggieburger mixes and breakfast cereals.  Lacto-ovo vegetarians get B12 from dairy and eggs so they are not at risk for deficiency.</p>
<p>Vitamin D and Calcium are an EVERYBODY issue and not just reserved for vegetarians.  As you know Vitamin D regulates calcium absorption and calcium is the main function of your skeleton and it also regulates your blood pressure.  Without enough of vitamin D you fall apart literally as your bones get spongy and soft.  Vitamin D deficiency can also be linked to higher rates of diabetes and cancer as well.  With a deficiency of calcium your body will sacrifice calcium from other parts of your body, causing brittle bones and leading to osteoporosis.  <a href="http://www.webmd.com/food-recipes/features/are-you-getting-enough-vitamin-d">WebMD</a> says that over 10 million Americans over the age of 50 have been diagnosed with osteoporosis.  Did you know that soda, salt, and meat, which more of us consume more today then let&#8217;s say 30 years ago, actually all pull calcium from your body?   As women hit their 30&#8217;s, calcium will be ultra important to avoid getting osteoporosis later in life as calcium starts to deplete.  When was the last time you remember having 2 or 3 servings of anything containing calcium or Vitamin D in a single day?  My point exactly.</p>
<p>Now that you are completely horrified  let&#8217;s talk about what you can eat to load up on these important two vitamins.</p>
<p>Vitamin D is found only in a handful of animal products, like cod, salmon, and tuna.  If you don&#8217;t eat fish, Vitamin D is found a little bit in eggs, margarine, and cheese.  If you are Vegan, fortified vitamin D can be found in soy milk and cereals. Another source of vitamin D is sun exposure.  Our body actually synthesizes a non-active vitamin D that can be activated by being exposed to the sun.  A higher number of Hispanic and African Americans are deficient in vitamin D because their skin is darker and they aren&#8217;t getting enough sun exposure to activate vitamin D in their bodies.  5-15 minutes in the sun for 4-6 times a week should do your body good.</p>
<p>Calcium is well- known in dairy products such as milk, cheese and yogurt.  Obviously, if you have dietary restrictions you can try alternative such as calcium-fortified soy or rice milk or even OJ.  Other sources of calcium include the dark green vegetables that we all hated as kids and hopefully are willing to try and enjoy as adults like collard greens and brussel sprouts.  Other more reasonable sources can be broccoli, green beans, oranges, and tofu.</p>
<p>Iron deficiency poses more a concern for women and if you&#8217;re pregnant, that makes it a double whammy.  Iron carries oxygen through-out our red blood cells and helps regulate temperature.  The main deficiency of iron is anemia but this doesn&#8217;t happen until you&#8217;re extremely deficient.  There is no higher incidence of anemia in vegetarians, however they tend to have lower iron stores causing them to be higher in moderate deficiency.  Infants and teenagers need a lot more iron than adults.  As infants are coming off their iron-fortified cereals and formula and teenage boys become picky eaters when they hit puberty, iron deficiency can pose a problem.  Vegetarians have a hard time absorbing iron because they mainly eat non-heme iron, found in plant protein, that is less easily absorbed than the iron found in meats.  Whole grains, fortified cereal, raisins, beans, potatoes with skin, and enriched pastas can all be enjoyed by the vegetarian.  Meat lovers can get their sources of iron from beef, shrimp, turkey, oysters, and mussels.  Just a note with iron, if you drink coffee, tea, or red wine (like I do) then this can decrease your iron absorption.  Whole grains, soy products, and vegetables containing calcium such as spinach and sweet potatoes all take away iron from your body too.  However, vitamin C enhances iron absorption so try combining broccoli, tomatoes, potatoes, bell peppers, oranges, cantaloupes, strawberries, or grapefruit with any iron-rich food to maximize absorption.</p>
<p>Do you get sick easily or does it take a while for a cut to heal?  If this is the case, you may be low on zinc.   Plants have zinc but it&#8217;s harder for the body to absorb it, so if you eat little or no meat than you may not be getting enough of this vitamin.  Meat, dairy, legumes, whole grains, cereals, nuts, and seeds all contain zinc.  Citric acid in fruits and lactic acid in dairy enhance zinc absorption so load up on these when you eat your iron dish.</p>
<p>Hidden vitamin deficiencies is not just a concern for vegetarians.  Anyone can be at risk for not getting enough of the vitamins are body needs to keep healthy.  The keys to success in making sure you are getting all your vitamins is to make sure you are eating enough and plenty of variety.</p>

<p><strong>Procrastination: </strong>I rate this category on both work accomplished and the items that were done. From now on, items which are on my procrastination list will be marked with a *. So I did one item on my procrastination list which took me 45 minutes and I did schoolwork for 2 hours 15 minutes. I would have to say that this was a very poor day considering the amount of time I spent working on my website, watching TV or browsing the internet. Overall, <strong>3/10</strong>.</p>
<p><strong>Bed Time: </strong>1:30 isn’t too bad but it’s later than I would like. Also I stayed up watching TV and wasting time on the computer so it wasn’t really worth it. <strong>6/10</strong>.</p>
<p><strong>Wake Up Time: </strong>I didn’t put an alarm and I woke up at 9:45. Again, it’s not extremely late, but it’s later than I would like. <strong>6/10</strong>.</p>
<p><strong>Diet: </strong>TERRIBLE! <strong>2/10</strong>. Binged before going to bed which is what I’m trying to work on the most. The rest of the day wasn’t too bad. I was careful with portions and calorie count. However, the Quizno’s Sub wasn’t ideal. On the upside I savored every single bite with immense pleasure, so it was totally worth it! I need to stop binging&#8230;</p>
<p><strong>Other thoughts: </strong>Most important thing is not to binge at night. What’s worse is that on that day I weighed myself at my mom’s house and I was at 185 pounds. I’m usually closer to 170-175. I also thought I looked terrible in the mirror. In any case, with all that in mind, I still ate before going to bed. I feel disgusting. The second thing I really need to focus on is to make schoolwork more of a priority. I do have important procrastination problems and I put off a lot of things, but that’s why I’m trying to work on it and I need to make more of an effort. Otherwise, I think it’s unacceptable that I spend more time on my website than on schoolwork. Again, I never really was aware of how long I spent on it, but I now need to make sure that the most important activity during my day is catching up on schoolwork.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee admitted that price rise has been a cause of concern for the Government but a downward trend has been noticed during the past fortnight.<br />

However, he did not deny that certain essential commodities are having high prices but fortunately for the last one-and-a-half weeks they have been noticing a downward trend, though it will take some more time.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, noting that prices of cereals, fruits and vegetables have been on the higher side, he said if the shortage in supply was not made up through import or other measures, then the prices would go up.</p>
<p>For example pulses, the rate has been increased substantially while our total requirement is 18 million tonne, the total production is 14 MT, a huge shortfall of 4 MT.</p>
<p>On the other hand, he said that unfortunately, shortfall in sugar has happened at a time when the international production has also gone down while prices too remain high.</p>

<p><strong>Pastry ingredients</strong><br />
1/2 cup of all purpose flour<br />
1 cup of barley flour<br />
1/4 cup of nut oil<br />
2 tbsp of potato starch<br />
1/4 cup of water</p>
<p><strong>Rice filling ingredients</strong><br />
1 cup of <a href="http://vegetarianzoerecipe.wordpress.com/2008/10/29/soya-milk/">soy milk</a><br />
1 cup of round rice<br />
1 vanilla bean<br />
1 cup of sugar<br />
1 cup of unsweetened black chocolate<br />
1 pinch of salt</p>
<p>Mix the pastry ingredients together.<br />
Knead to obtain a homogeneous and smooth dough which can be lowered with a rolling pin.<br />
Set aside in the fridge for at least twenty minutes.</p>
<p>In a saucepan, heat the milk and the sugar, the rice, the vanilla bean, and the salt.<br />
At boiling point, lower the heat to minimum and cover. Cook for five more minutes.<br />
Melt the chocolate using a bain marie.<br />
Remove the vanilla bean.<br />
Add the chocolate to the rice.</p>
<p>Roll down the pastry, and place in a pie pan.<br />
Spread the chocolate rice in the pie.<br />
Cook in pie in a preheated oven for 20 min for 150°C, with a bowl of boiling water.</p>
<p>Let the pie cool down for two hours.<br />
Serve and enjoy.</p>

Little toddlers were making fun of <span style="color:#000000;">her </span>because she&#8230;herm&#8230;doesn&#8217;t skate really well. ^_^ So she wanted to go shopping instead.</p>
<p style="text-align:left;">Omg, going shopping with her is <strong>suicidal</strong>. I don&#8217;t how someone can shop this long and hesitate this long about whether or not buy a pair of boots <em>(when she already has like 5 pairs).</em> We left when the mall closed and my legs were litterally dead, lol. </p>

<p style="text-align:left;">Right now, the only thing that&#8217;s connecting ED with me is those doctors. I want this to end.</p>
<p style="text-align:left;">I can only imagine what it&#8217;s gonna be if they weren&#8217;t here. I can&#8217;t focus on school because the whole situation is so frustrating, so unfair. I had a really hard time after the court <em>(at home, at shcool, with my friends, alone&#8230;).</em> I&#8217;m really scared of what&#8217;s going to happen.</p>
<p style="text-align:left;">On the bright side, my mom seems to get better. She started cooking again, yeah! When she wasn&#8217;t cooking, we ate pizzas and the family is getting sick of it. <content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>I survived the past week; I&#8217;m back! It seems so long ago that I last blogged, isn&#8217;t it? <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif' alt=':D' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>The past week had been crazy, as usual. Boss was crazy, workload was crazy, ED was crazy, I was crazy. I don&#8217;t even wish to speak about the first because I couldn&#8217;t even be bothered with her ridiculous nonsense. As for the next, with the help of my other 2 very lovely interns, we&#8217;ve finished all translations! Now we&#8217;re left with the checking and final editing. Sucks but all of us just hoped that it&#8217;ll be over soon. I had an average of 3-4 hrs of sleep per night, with Thursday staying up the whole night, and me ending up crashing the bed the moment I reached home and bathed. As I was so busy, ED had many opportunities to &#8216;tempt&#8217; me and hence, I ended up being crazy as well.</p>
<p>Now on to the eats for this week. Basically for breakfast, it&#8217;s either cereals or 2 slices of toast.</p>

<p>Guess what, I tried to switch from soymilk to cow&#8217;s milk since Thursday! You&#8217;ve no idea how much determination I had to have in order to do so. One, I&#8217;d always thought that cow&#8217;s milk = fattening. Two, I&#8217;ve always hated cow&#8217;s milk because of its taste. But the brand that I buy now has a mild taste, making things easier for me. The reason why I tried to switch to cow&#8217;s milk is because if I take soymilk for breakfast, I&#8217;ll have to take 3 Ensure Pluses each day. HOW MORE DAUNTING CAN THAT BE?! Yeah, I&#8217;ve been asked to increase my Ensures because my weight dropped by 0.2kg this week. The other alternative was that I drink milk but switch 1 of my 2 Ensures to Resource 2.0. I&#8217;ve never tried Resource 2.0, so I thought I&#8217;d give it a go.</p>
<p>Alright, I&#8217;ve yet to try both combinations, because I can&#8217;t bring myself to drink 3 Ensures a day yet. And I just can&#8217;t find Resource 2.0 anywhere, so I&#8217;ve still been drinking 2 Ensures a day. I wonder how screwed would I end up with 2 weeks later when I meet the doc. :S</p>

<p>I woke up with ample time to enjoy breakfast! Rocks big time when I don&#8217;t have to rush through breakfast.</p>

<p>Finally, I got to try this cereal. To be honest, I was a little disappointed. Firstly, as what my mum and sis had told me earlier (my sis was the one who opened this box of cereal), it was reeeeeeeeeally sweet! I could hardly drink the soymilk in my bowl; it became too sweet. But the cereal was nice though, and with long grain rice as the main ingredient, I thought it was really filling. Mum thinks it&#8217;s psychological, well I don&#8217;t know. Thankfully, thankfully, ED didn&#8217;t act up after I had my cereal because I saw that the main ingredient used was actually rice.</p>
<p>Being Sunday, I headed off to church after breakfast. It&#8217;s the First Sunday of Advent, people! Which means, Christmas is just a month&#8217;s time away! I&#8217;m happy, yet anxious at the same time, as I&#8217;ll have to start prepping myself up for a possible feast. Okay, we shall leave this for a later time.</p>
<p>Mum and I went home first after church, before heading downstairs for lunch. I had wanton noodles soup, with the original egg noodles!</p>

<p>Now now, I&#8217;ve been craving for it for a long time, and I chose to listen to what I&#8217;d wanted and ordered the egg noodles, when I&#8217;d usually not choose that, even life before ED. Other than the fact that the soup was a little too oily for me, I enjoyed every bit of my wanton noodles soup. Mum later told me after dinner that she was really happy with me because I finished all the noodles (except for the 2 spoonfuls that she took). She said she was unhappy initially when I scooped out all the noodles into another small bowl, leaving some in my bowl. She thought I&#8217;d only wanted to eat that little amount of noodles. But haha, nope, I transferred the noodles into another bowl because I didn&#8217;t want my soup to have the flour-taste. ED didn&#8217;t really act up though, except that I felt a little bloated.</p>
<p>After lunch, the both of us then headed to Chinatown to adjust my Ray Ban&#8217;s (&#8220;damaged&#8221; during the accident in China) and to get new supply of contact lenses. Things were settled pretty quickly, so we headed down to Funan IT Mall.</p>
<p>Alright, I&#8217;ve been desperately looking for a new netbook to replace my current ThinkPad which is seriously dying soon. I&#8217;d wanted the new Macbook, but reckoned that it&#8217;s too heavy for my liking. I&#8217;d like something small and light, so that I can alway carry it around with me. After browsing through, I&#8217;m down to 2 choices &#8211; Asus 1005HA or HP Mini 110. The thing I don&#8217;t like about the Asus is that the surface is glossy and is a fingerprint magnet. Whereas for the HP, the battery life is bad and the design is awful with (though not really evident).  But after deep consideration, I&#8217;ve decided to go for the HP. I figured out that I could solve the battery life problem by getting another 6-cell battery, whereas the fingerprint magnet problem is going to drive me crazy. But well, I&#8217;m still opened to suggestions. So, which do you think I should get, and why? <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif' alt=':D' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>Ok, sorry I just sidetracked. I came home in time for my mid-afternoon snack, which was blueberry muffin made by me! Ok, I merely used the Betty Crocker and added a lot of real blueberries.</p>

<p>Not too bad, not too sweet. I had 1/2 because there was some margarine (used to grease the pan), and I&#8217;m still afraid to take margarine. Anyway, I hate hate hate margarine and butter.</p>
<p>Dinner was simple with just the remaining wholemeal bread, remaining onion soup, and remaining turkey breast.</p>

<p>Ended off today&#8217;s eats with an Ensure. Guess what flavor I had?</p>

<p>First of all, if you&#8217;re wondering about the chronology of this blog, I don&#8217;t write the posts exactly on the day they occur. My weekend should have been two separate posts, but I don&#8217;t have much to say which is why I&#8217;m just writing one.</p>
<p>When I say wasted weekend, its not what you think. I have huge procrastination issues and given my current workload, I pretty much spent the week-end procrastinating. I woke up late. I watched TV. I played games on the computer. I ate. I napped. I did pretty much everything I could think of which wasn&#8217;t school work.</p>
<p>I still haven&#8217;t really figured out why I procrastinate so much. I usually have this idea that the work is going to be incredibly difficult and time-consuming, which is part of the explanation. I think I&#8217;m also afraid to fail, which is completely irrational since I do very well in school. Maybe it&#8217;s not so much failing as being judge as a person on the quality of my work. Another part of the problem is feeling that the work I do is never good enough or that it&#8217;ll take forever for it to meet my expectations. Procrastination and perfectionism sorta come as a pair, at least for me.</p>
<p>Sadly, the highlight of my weekend was a trip to the grocery store on Sunday. Here&#8217;s what I bought:</p>

<li>Kashi Cereals</li>
<li>Coffee</li>
<li>Ketchup</li>
<li>Hot-Dogs</li>
<li>Juice</li>
<li>Frozen Eclairs</li>
<li>Hot-Dog Buns</li>
</ul>
<p>I know Hot-Dogs are supposed to be garbage food, but it had been a while since I had eaten any and I felt like some. I never really cared to find out how they were made, but I guess now&#8217;s the time.</p>

<p>Alright, that actually wasn&#8217;t too bad. They didn&#8217;t really go into the types of meat which are put into the Hot-Dogs, although they looked SUPER fat, plus that whole paste wasn&#8217;t very appetizing, but somehow I thought it would be way worse. Maybe the only Hot-Dogs factory that agreed to be on a TV show is the one that makes good quality food. Actually, if Hot-Dogs use pieces of meat that would otherwise be discarded then it makes them pretty eco-friendly! On the downside, that factory must use up tons of energy, plus there&#8217;s the whole transportation to and from there.  Unfortunately, I already threw away the packaging so I can&#8217;t really look into amounts of fat, sodium, etc. but I&#8217;m guessing Hot-Dogs are still a food which should be avoided.</p>

<p><strong>However, wholesale prices of fuel-related products dipped <span style="color:#ff6600;">1.51%</span> in the week under consideration, compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.</strong></p>

<p><strong>· <span style="color:#ff6600;">Cairn India</span> and its joint venture partners have decided to take up 4 dimensional (4D) seismic survey of Ravva field in the <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Krishna-Godavari Basin</span> to further explore oil and gas reserves.<br />

<p><strong>· Liquefied gas importer, <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Petronet LNG Ltd (PLL),</span> is keen to <span style="text-decoration:underline;">acquire up to 10 per cent stake in <span style="color:#ff6600;">ONGC</span></span> Petro-additions Ltd (OPaL), which is setting up a cracker complex in Gujarat. </strong></p>
<p><strong>OPaL is, a <span style="text-decoration:underline;"><span style="color:#ff6600;">Rs 12,440-crore</span> petrochemicals project</span>, being set up by ONGC at Dahej in Gujarat.<br />

<p><strong><span style="color:#ff6600;">Hazira Port,</span> which is a joint venture of Shell Gas BV and Total Gaz Electricite Holdings France, issued a letter of intent to the Adani group for developing the port in the booming southern Gujarat industrial belt.</strong></p>

<p><strong>· State-run Bharat Heavy Electrical (<span style="color:#ff6600;">BHEL</span>) has set up a new transformer manufacturing facility at Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh. </strong></p>
<p><strong>This new facility would enable BHEL to produce an additional 12,000 MVA (mega volt ampere) of transformers per annum.<br />
</strong></p>
<p><strong>· Pollution control equipment maker <span style="color:#ff6600;">Thermax</span> bagged an order worth Rs 477.77 crore from an Orissa-based company for construction of a captive power plant.</strong></p>

<p><strong>· The <span style="text-decoration:underline;"><span style="color:#ff6600;">Vijay Mallya</span>-led Kingfisher Airlines</span> led the chart of the loss-making carriers by reporting a massive <span style="text-decoration:underline;"><span style="color:#ff6600;">Rs 1,602 crore in losses</span> in 2008-09</span>, followed by Jet Airways with a loss of Rs 1,032 crore.</strong></p>

<p><strong>· <span style="color:#ff6600;">Tata Steel,</span> the world&#8217;s sixth largest steel maker, is <span style="text-decoration:underline;">raising its annual iron ore production by 55 per cent</span> to 17 million tonnes in India over the next two years. </strong></p>
<p><strong>The expansion is expected to cost about <span style="color:#ff6600;">Rs 1,100 crore.</span></strong></p>
