Christmas in Singapore means lotsa X’mas decorations in all the shopping malls.

My 1st visit to Changi Airport Terminal 3 today to see its giantitic Musical Ball in the Departure Hall that opens up every half hour to play X’mas melodies and give out sweets & gifts at the end of each performance:

Last day of our trip.. So fast end liao.. And we are back at 西门町..

There’s nothing much to do already.. We ate 阿宗面线 again.. and loitered ard aimlessly..

This drink is quite interesting.. There’s alot of bubble like thing.. And when u bite them.. The bubble will burst and concentrated syrup will flow out of it.. Hmm.. My description doesnt sound very nice haha..

The FreeGo bus reached at 12.45pm and we left Taipei for the airport..

Super super long queue.. At first we intended to lunch there but in the end we had no time..

Last day at Singapore, agenda kami gak banyak… Hanya muter-muter aja di mall-mall sekitar Orchard Road. Rencananya kami akan ke airport jam 3 sore, jadi kami punya cukup waktu untuk jalan-jalan.

Pagi-pagi, selesai semuanya sarapan dan mandi, kami mulai ngeberesin barang-barang. Pokoknya sebelum jalan-jalan, semua barang sudah dipak di dalam koper, jadi nanti sehabis jalan balik ke apartment tinggal untuk jemput barang2 aja sebelum ke airport.

Seperti biasanya, selama kami di S’pore, menu breakfast Raja hari itu adalah oatmeal + tepung kacang hijau + keju parut.

Makanan Raja untuk siang dan malamnya juga sudah kami siapkan: Bubur beras putih + ikan kakap rebus + buncis + zucchini + wortel. Supaya tetap anget, makanannya dimasukkan ke dalam lunch jar. Puji Tuhan, lunch jar milik kami ini terbilang bagus. Makanan yang dimasukkan ke dalamnya sejak pagi bisa tahan tetep anget sampe malamnya. Makanya, barang ini berguna banget kalo lagi jalan-jalan kayak gini. Gak perlu kuatir mikirin makanan untuk anak

Setelah semuanya beres, mulailah kami jalan-jalan.

Di Takashimaya, kami sempat membeli mainan dorong-dorong untuk Raja. Sengaja dicari di sini, karena merk yang kami cari memang tidak tersedia di Palembang. Playskool. Di Palembang adanya Fisher Price. Sebenarnya merk ini bagus juga sih. Tapi menurut kami desainnya agak kurang cocok untuk Raja, soalnya pegangannya agak pendek jadi Raja musti agak membungkuk untuk mendorongnya.

Sementara, kalo Playskool desainnya lebih ok. Kalo untuk didorong, pegangannya lebih tinggi. Jadi kayaknya lebih aman deh untuk Raja…

Selain beli mainannya Raja, kami juga beli XMas ornament *sesuai dengan rencana sebelumnya nih….* Duh, jenis, model, dan bentuknya buanyak buanget…sampe bingung milihnya

Jam 2 siang, kami siap balik lagi ke apartment. Nyampe sana, kami masih harus ngepack barang2 yang baru dibeli ini. Untung bisa cepet selesai semuanya. Jam 3, kami dijemput sama yang punya apartment untuk diantar ke airport. Biaya nganternya SGD 20 *in singapore, everything is all about money…well, it’s because of the high cost of living there*.

Karena penerbangannya ditunda sejam, jadinya Raja makan sorenya di airport… Sssttt….ada salah satu teman yang kaget ngeliat porsi makan Raja yang buanyak itu… sapa ya???? He he…habis ya mo gimana lagi, memang udah segitu lah kebutuhan anak ini

Gak berapa lama setelah Raja selesai makan, kami pun dipersilakan to board the aircraft…

Dengan demikian…berakhir sudahlah cerita seru kami selama di Singapore

Ada rasa sedih…karena terus terang, kami masih pengen lebih lama lagi menghabiskan waktu bersama…sedih, karena sudah terbayang, begitu tiba di Palembang lagi, maka kami akan kembali ke rutinitas itu… hidup terpisah…

Tapi sudahlah, dengan begini pun rasanya sudah syukur banget

Sekali lagi, Tuhan baik banget untuk kami.. perjalanan seru ke Singapore merupakan sebuah hadiah indah yang diberi-Nya. O ya, yang senang tak hanya kami…tapi si suster juga… seneng banget dia, diajak ke Singapore.. sampe sekarang pun dia masih suka bilang, “Makasih ya bu, ngajak saya ke sana… di sana bagus banget….”

Kalo kata si suster sih, rejekinya sama Raja memang ok. Bisa liat Prambanan di jogja, bisa ke Medan, nyampe juga ke Bunaken…eh, malah sekarang bisa nginjek Singapore

Sebelumnya, selama 8 tahun kerja di tempat yang lama, yang diliatnya hanya Tangerang aja Makanya, seneng banget dia sekarang diajak jalan kemana-mana…

“Sir, I think you booked the wrong tickets.”

Without a shadow of a doubt, this goes down as one of my biggest boo-boos. I couldn’t believe that I committed a mistake of this simplicity. The crazy thing about it was that none of the four people I had sent my itinerary to spotted it as well. The dates on my E-ticket read 28 Nov Fri to 28 Dec Mon (!!! – I know). On hindsight, thank God there was no promotional fare this time – the more expensive flexi-saver ticket I purchased allowed for a n0-fee flight change.

To help you understand the severity of the situation, on the line was 40kg of fish meat, a $919 SQ air ticket and another $90 paid for excess baggage. It was midnight and my sister (who kindly sent me to the airport) had already reached home. The current flight was fully booked and so were the next two flights at 7am and 10am. The frozen fish meat only had a lifespan of 10 hours without refrigeration.

To say I was panicking is an understatement. But a part of me really enjoyed the impending adventure. Suddenly I was captured in a cinematic moment. Strangely, I was at peace but also in a flurry.

Check-in for the flight closes at 12:35am. The plane takes off at 1:15am.

T-30 minutes @ 12:05am:
After confirming this major mistake, the check-in officer informed me that 12 people have not turned up for this flight. And there were already two passengers on the waiting list. I was third on the list. If nine passengers turned up, it’d be game over for Joey. My uncle and I dismissed paying for Business Class (DANG!) and were hoping for the no-show of these 12 people.

T-20 minutes @ 12:15am:
After putting down the phone with HY for the third time – I needed an anxiety-venting outlet – I was informed by the same officer that there were only 5 seats left. Calmly, he said, “Sir, maybe this is your lucky day”.

His colleague added, “But honestly Sir, based on my experience, I think your chances are really low.”

T-10 minutes @ 12:25am:
I told HY that I couldn’t be on the phone anymore because I was in such a state of peaceful flurry (!). I hung up, looked towards the counter and established eye contact with the same officer. He didn’t give me a thumbs up, but gestured “3” instead. I remembered the two already on the waiting list and my negotiations with God reached a new level of extraordinary wagers. I think I must have really tickled God.

D-day H-hour @ 12:35am:
“Sir, please proceed to the opposite counter to pay for your excess baggage after you check-in. Please watch your time as the gate closes at 1:05am. Have a good flight.”

This was the first time I was the last person on the plane. And this miracle really made me look forward to my short 3-day 2-night hiatus in Shanghai.

Since i have like a ton of pictures

Okay so on the first day
we all met at 6.30 am at changi airport terminal 3!
Narelle and I decided to meet up cuz the teachers
did not tell us where to meet.
So we said the night before that we would text each other when we reached

Only Daddy and Ah Gong sent me off on that day
Ah Gong to drive me to the airport
and Daddy to command me on everything!
hahas.
We left home at 5.45
and then reached the airport around 6.
Narelle just smsed me when we got into the carpark
Saying that her dad drove them (her and her mum) to
the arrival hall! LOL!

She was eating breakfast there.
Then I waited for her
and we met our other friends.
She told me her luggage was the same size as mine
(she came over to my place to see it)
However when I saw it,
It was WAYYYYY BIGGER than mine.
HAHAHHA

So we checked our baggage in.
Mine was 11.2kg!
Hers was 13 i think or 15. lol

Then we said goodbye to our parents
And got into the Departure hall!
We then camwhored over the area.
Since each of us had a camera,

However we just went to the gate at 8. LOL!
So I called Bryan since he made me call him.

I was flipping through the KrisFlyer magazine
and found out there was Bones on the plane!
HOWEVER it was season 3 episodes. -.-”"”

So on the plane i watched like Land of the Lost,
500 days of summer and the time traveler’s wife.
I just watched all of them halfway
was sleeping the rest of it. Haha.

OH and my seat was the one second from the window seat
AND I had a difficult time
because in front of me, there was this ang moh person
who reclined his seat back so much,
Behind me, there was this SJI boy (whom i found out later was JOEL TAY)
who was kicking me chair because he claims that his legs
are too long. -.-”"”

We landed and it was like freezing cold you know!
My phone had no signal!!!!!!!!!
I thought it was because it was in a new country
so i gave it another hour.
I finally gave up on it and used Mrs Low’s handphone
to sms my parents.
I stated that my phone has problems,
dad, fix it.

around 5 o’clock i restarted my phone and it worked!
Apparently my auto-roaming wasn’t turned on.
Because my plan didn’t have it.

We then set off for the Peak(:
We took a train to the station,
took a bus up the hills,
and took tram back down.

Changi Airport was decorated for Christmas in Nov, with colourful red balls and gold glitter around the place.

Unfortunately for me, i had sprained my ankle the day before and was pushed around on the wheelchair. Before we left, we had our meal at Pasta House by Sakae Sushi celebrating one of my friend’s birthday.

I like having dinner at the airport. The standard seemed to be much better than in the towns.

One of my friend had curry rice. Generous portions of curry was literally lathered over the rice with poached egg and a hamburger patty Japanese style.

Another had sea urchin sushi. I love fish roe! look at the amount of roe that they included with the pasta.

I had my grilled salmon mentai. That’s wasabi mayo they placed on top of the salmon. Once its mixed up with the pasta, the spicy taste of wasabi with the succulent meat of fresh salmon really made my tummy rumble when I think about it.

For the side dish, we had yakitori sticks. These were pork yakitori sticks marinated with teriyaki sauce and rolled around asparagus before being grilled. Well worth the wait, I believe!

Lastly for dessert, since its my friend’s birthday, we ordered a cake for him! Matcha cheese cake with a layer of azuki in between.

Having finished our dinner, its off to the plane!

i knew i loved you before i met you

i think this is my mc-life.

i can’t decide which one i like best to put on Penny’s Day Book… my interview is going to go “online” soon i reckon.

i didn’t manage to get windows installed yesterday as i had planned… cos sarah was on MC. grrrrrrrr. sarah hoe, you purposely right??? hmppfff. anyway, in the end i made 3 new necklaces… took photos but haven’t editted. what exactly was i doing all day? i know i managed to tidy up the study a little but it’s still in a hurricane of a mess… i’m really bad at putting things in order when they’re all over the place… i get distracted and start playing with whatever i pick up… bad habit jeanine!

anyway was talking to ben earlier and he said he vomitted in the morning and they sent him to the MO to get an injection and even put him on drip. for vomitting??? for real? sheesh. they really don’t take chances, do they?

but why does ben keep getting sick, or getting hurt. it’s so worrying…

and with POP getting closer and closer, the next question is, WHAT DO I WEAR??? yup, i’m going; to Tekong. cos ben’s dad is away in Japan and won’t be back in time for POP. so i get to go… i’m happy i get to go, but not under these circumstances… i was hoping all of us could go… oh well.

i finished “coloring” my boots tho… from an ugly brown to perfect black.

i like!

i got these boots last year from the Charles and Keith “factory outlet” for like $30? had to use 2 bottles of color for this so that’s about $15… $45 for these booties? not bad! if you want to try something like that yourself, i used DYLON’S SHOE & ACCESSORIES COLOR IN BLACK. you can get it from stores like HOME FIX.

come to think of it, i haven’t told ben about my boot coloring project… maybe i won’t tell him… and see if he actually recognizes them from zouk last year. you think? lol.

oh oh! i was at the airport on monday, sending my sister off and there’s this giant ball that opens up and dispenses ping pong balls every half hour at night… we were having dinner at crystal jade and running down every half hour! if you find the special pink ping pong ball, you get a gift! i managed to stash a couple, ended up with pens, locks, and passport holders! all courtesy of changi airport! if you don’t manage to find the ball, you might be lucky enough to get hold of the magic towels! you have to be quick to grab! otherwise, you can always settle for the sweets that come pouring out together… you’ll definitely be able to bring home a few pocketfuls… i know i did. shhhh!

and then there’s this visa promotion, whereby every $50 you spend entitles you to one christmas ball… if you spend $100 or $150, remember to get the store to split your receipts!!! and… what’s in the christmas balls?

Melvin Ryan Tan is one of the few common close friends that Rachel and I share. He left for London to pursue his dream in fashion at the London College of Fashion on 13 September. Always loud and cheerful, we missed his presence.

Rachel and I went to the airport to send him off on the day he left Singapore. We were surprised to see a whole entourage of Melvin’s fans and relatives there, macham like celebrity.

When we arrived at the airport, being the usual diva, Melvin was still busy trying to rearrange his luggage as he had brought too much stuff. It was quite a sight.

Met up with candy, terlong and candy’s friend lothars over a very entertaining dinner at Changi airport. So we dine at swenson from 5 plus to 7. Time seems to pass so quickly. Got my ears pierced today. Will post the pictures some other days cause I am feeling damn tired! I wanna finish my report for IT3773 ASAP. I am tired. I want to complete it before I go for my trip.

I am meeting my baby this friday and I am looking forward to it. ♡

An email promotion got us thinking of going to a new place for lunch last Sunday – Azur at Crowne Plaza at Changi Airport.

A buffet spread at $22++.. Why not, we thought!  And so off we went hoping to be impressed though more often than not, buffets fail us.

Well, a dollar for a dollar. The Japanese spread was quite pathetic. No sashimi as indicated in the email. So we skipped to the Italian section where we had some decent beef lasagne and fried squids. Not bad. Next was the Chinese. I personally liked the braised duck and the pork belly buns. Other than that, the rest wasn’t that worth the trouble.

The dessert counter looked appetising enough and to my delight, the tarts were quite good. I could only wish that they had more selection as most of them were things I don’t quite fancy – tarts, kuehs, ice kachang. Where was the cheesecake or the opera?

And if one were to wonder if there was a free flow of drinks.. Yes but limited to iced water, coffee and tea.

An interesting fact would be they do serve cheese though it wasn’t displayed. All you have to do is ask. That was what he did! Ask!    Yes, I am a happy kid when I have my cheese.  :)

Well, did I regret going there? Nope. I guess we have to be realistic about buffets as more isnt always better. Ala-carte dishes are always my preferred choice anytime as I get quality. But the bufffet was a nice experience in a relatively nice dining setting. And for $22++, it fared way better than some places that we went to and were totally ripped off. And he was right! For such a cheap buffet, one wouldn’t really overeat just to stretch the dollar.

As we got out of the restaurant, he wanted to smoke. The hotel looked so new, I didn’t think there was any smoking area. He asked the two service staff standing at the door and they showed us the smoking area just metres away from the hotel entrance. As he lit up his cigarette, he noticed a flashing light. One of the guys who opened the door for us snapped a picture of us, or me in my super mini-skirt.

After he was done, we needed the toilet upstairs and he got wary of the guy who was still holding a camera. So he made me stand in front of him so he could “take cover” for me as we went up the escalator. Funny. I was laughing inside as he was the one encouraging me to wear a mini-skirt all the time and there he was “protecting” me. It was so unexpected of him and I really liked it! My boyfriend cares about his mini-mini-skirt girl!
