I’m so proud of me ;) Well today’s musical Monday recommendation is for a rather epic music video! As some of you may know, during the summer I was able to take part in a music video of Family Force 5′s through Kickstarter. The music video is Cray Button, and it was released a couple of weeks ago. Isaac Deitz was the videographer/director for this whole thing, and let me tell you he absolutely out did himself, the music is without a doubt one of best I have ever seen! So give it a watch/listen and prepare to have your mind blown ;)

If you ever have the opportunity to take part in a Family Force 5 music video do it! It could very well be one of the best decisions you ever make. You get to brag that you took part in something positively epic, and you will walk away with some amazing new friends, I know I did. Honestly it doesn’t matter what kind of list, grocery, packing, honey do, but the top has to be crossing something off the ole bucket list. As some of you may know I wrote about how on my bucket list taking part in a music video was one of my goals, and how much I wanted to be in the music video Cray Button with Family Force 5. Well they reached their funding goal for the video to take place, and I was able to be apart of it. So on Sunday morning armed with directions to the warehouse where we were filming, loads of water/Gatorade, and a whole bundle of nerves I set off. I was fairly nervous because I didn’t exactly know what to expect and I wasn’t able to talk a friend into going with me, but about 15 minutes into signing in I made some friends, and the nerves went away thank goodness. The day consisted of waiting about mostly (like any film project does), dancing like a mad person, running, sweating, and oh ya more sweating! Who needs a sauna when you can party in a warehouse with no AC in the middle of a July Texas day? I think I did enough sweating and working out to last me a year, here it is Tuesday and I’m still sore.

We also did a bit of filming outside, for some crowd rafting. Let me tell you Solomon (lead vocals) is one brave man, I don’t know that I would ever hop onto a little inflatable boat a top of my fans and have them pass me back and forth. In case you are wondering no he didn’t fall…well on the ground that is.

After all the filming had taken place as a thank you/wrap party the band held a concert, and let me tell you they were absolutely killin it! I have no idea how they put on such a great show considering how hard they had been working all day! But is was amazing!

His face paint did not last long, sweat will do that ;)

Just in case playing an incredible show wasn’t enough the boys stuck around to take pictures and sign things for the fans! So naturally I had to get some pics…sorry for the low quality but I was too scared to bring my Canon. :/

As the name suggests, this five-piece band from Atlanta, Georgia is comprised of three brothers (Solomon, Jacob, and Joshua Olds) and two of their good friends (Nathan Currin and Derek Mount).  They’re most often referred to by their stage names though: Soul Glow Activatur, Crouton, Fatty, Nadaddy, and Chapstique. They have released two full length albums (not including their Christmas album) since 2006 and are currently working on their third.  But this is hardly the first time they have recorded a CD.  As young kids in the mid 90′s, the Olds brothers released two albums under the name The Brothers.  These albums were produced by their dad, Jerome Olds, who was a recording artist in the late 80′s.  They also had another band before FF5 called Ground Noise.

Their musical experience has helped them to create a sound that is different from anything I’ve ever heard.  Mixing rock, hip hop, dance, rap, and electronic elements together, they refer to their genre as crunk rock.  I’d say this applies mostly to their first album because it’s more rock driven.  Their second album leans more toward the electronic side of things.  Either way I think they’re a great band, and I’m excited to see which way the sound goes on their new release.

They also have an amazing live show.  They’ve been known for inviting fans on stage to dance with them, wearing wild clothes and costumes (including their infamous hulk gloves) while going crazy on stage, and always having special effects.  Their guitar tech Xanadu is best known for his crazy dancing on stage.

Aside from their music, they’ve also produced many youtube video blogs called The Really Real Show that have been a huge hit with fans and have even been released to DVD.  Their sense of humor really comes through in these videos that actually have nothing to do with their real lives in the band.  Because their videographer, Isaac “Tub-O” Deitz has commitments to other bands as well, they have stopped production for now.  Instead they have been doing another vlog called The AV Club that is shorter and more true to life than The Really Real Show.

This is my friend Derek!!! He is literally one of my absolute FAVOURITE people to be in the presence of! He is an absolute delight & revels in using fun words just like I am (like the word electrophoresis, for example)… so i have a blast & a half talking to him. He has a huge heart & a killer smile to go along with it [this photo does not do his smile justice, but he's fierce too!], and his laugh is contagious. We got to hang out with Chapstique and the rest of the Family Force 5 guys again at the Jewish Mother, the tiniest venue EVER at the beach, last night. it was packed to the brim, the building was shaking, and we had the time of our lives. They are the definition of FUN and their new songs are PHENOMENAL live.
