As a music lover I am often in search of Waldo within the soundscapes.  I am convinced there is a musical revolution taking place and we have the pleasure of witnessing a movement in progress.  The revolution may not be televised but it seems it will certainly be blogged…

In the Hip Hop genre, there are a host of new and wonderfully refreshing artist (Fresh Daily, J. Cole, Wale, Outasight, The Cool Kids, Kidz In the Hall, Donnis, The Kid Daytona, and Charles Hamilton among others) working with sounds, melodies, and concepts that are not thought of as belonging traditionally to hip hop.  Within this oddly sweet cacophony of sounds, I believe I have found a sound that is truly FRESH and true to the soul of it s makers.  This is where we find Waldo today…

Some time back I stumbled upon the music of Philly’s new musical promise land; a four piece hip hop/electronica  band by the name of Chiddy Bang.  While one may naturally hear the influences of the band clearly, the sound produced by those influences is completely original.  It is a natural blend of the individuals and what they bring to the table.  To fully understand and appreciate the music of Chiddy bang, a listener may perhaps needs a history book and serious knowledge of pop-culture.  As a lover and appreciator of good lyrics I am astonished by the ability of front man  Chidera “Proto” Anamege to speak of life experiences and their musical journey by using metaphors, blended with pop cultural references that would  make the head’s of the TMZ staff spin…and the music is never short of samples and references to a n even wider range of musical scapes.

The more I listen to the band; I am more than ever convinced of their originality and musical prowess.  Over the last year or so I have kept my ears wide open for the sounds seeping through the blogosphere labeled “Chiddy Bang.”  And I must say I am very much impressed by the growth and maturity of that sound, culminating in the released of Chiddy Bang’s latest mixtape “The Swelly Express.” (click to download entire mixtape

Mr. Hamilton is not lying with the title of this track! The Sonic loving, Pink headphone wearing rapper from Harlem, Charles Hamilton, leaks this track off his upcoming album The Normalcy Project. The title really does say it all, Charles Hamilton has returned from his brief disappearance from the rap scene, and just in time too.  With the successes of Wale’s and Kid Cudi’s freshmen albums, I was afraid that Charles Hamilton would be forgotten about.

So use this song as a reminder that he is still here going strong, and be on the look out for his album, The Normalcy Project

Charles Hamilton Is Back

I dont know how many people noticed but after flooding the internet with music on a consistent basis, Charles Hamilton essentially “disappeared” following a series of public relation issues.  After 6 months of no music, no twitter, no interviews, he is now back! When he focuses on the music he puts out some pretty dope stuff.  The video above is his announcement with pictures and a download link for the song after the jump.

Charles Hamilton is finally back. My favorite artist who disappeared last summer is dropping music again. Here’s the full track that was featured in the promo video I posted a little bit ago. To be honest, Charles really goes in on this. Smart way to come back. He’s still going to have an insane amount of haters but all that matters is on December 9th he’s dropping The Normalcy project. Can’t wait to see what he’s been cooking up during his hiatus.

Charles Hamilton was gone for a while, ever since he lost all of his rings when he got punched by a girl. There was a while there when Charles was putting out a tape or a track every other day and people were getting sick of it because it wasn’t all the same quality. Some were good and most of them were awful and just filler, so I didn’t mind that he was gone because I was getting sick of him to be honest. Time passed though and I forgot about the kid until this song popped up on the screen. I had to check it out and the kid got me again. This is some good Charles Hamilton, the stuff we have been waiting for. Download it below and I’m sure you’ll agree. Now lets hope he doesn’t go silly again and he can put out some quality work and do a real album.
