Kristin tenía papeles recurrentes en las series dramáticas, como por ejemplo ” Another World” y “General Hospital”, entre otras. Una de sus interpretaciones más conocidas fue en la exitosa serie Melrose Place en 1995. Esta no es la única serie de renombre en la que ha participado; ha realizado cameos en Friends o Emergencias,  pero sin duda su gran papel ha sido el de Charlotte York en “Sexo en Nueva York”. Dal set di Sex and the City 2 continuano ad arrivare foto delle protagoniste in splendidi outfit. Quindi ho deciso di darvi un first look su ciò che ci aspetterà nel film..dal punto di vista dell’abbigliamento.

Partiamo dalla protagonista, ovvero Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker). Nella prima foto indossa un abito Halston Heritage abbinato ad una clutch Chanel e delle decoltè Chirstian Louboutin d’orate. Nella seconda foto indossa sempre un abito Halston Heritage e delle decoltè Christian Louboutin. Gli occhiali tondi ed un pò stile retrò sono Jee Vice.

Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon) indossa invece un abito color senape abbinato a delle Trib Two YSL color carne. Bisogna dire che queste scarpe sono sempre più amate da star (vedi Victoria Beckham) e dalle attrici, che le indossano sui set. Charlotte York (Kristin Davis) sceglie invece un total look di Christian Dior, il tutto rigorosamente rosa.

Like every other girl on the planet… I can’t wait for the next installment of SATC!!! First off, I’d like 2 say Kudos to the genius behind all the fabulous outfits, Patricia Fields. Everything from the clothes, to the hair, to the makeup takes us on a remarkable fashion journey, a good blend between extremely wild eccentric pieces yet quintessentially relevant.

The first movie was all about the “Studded belt”, who would have thought you could wear them and look cute and stylish. Fascinating how a simple piece can truly transform a look.  And of course the gorgeous wedding dresses. *sigh*

Apartment of the most old-fashioned, conservative and traditional lady of the group… should be quite traditional and simple too, right?

“A Park Avenue pad with a split personality,” is how SATC production designer Jeremy Conway describes his design concept for Charlotte and Trey’s apartment on the Upper East Side. “The whole idea is that it’s a classic pre-war in the 80s that’s been in the MacDougal family for god-knows-how-long. Bunny originally decorated it, but once there was a new lady of the house – a.k.a Charlotte – some radical changes needed to take place.”

“We wanted the contrast between Bunny to Charlotte to be dramatic. So all the while I was thinking, ‘Let’s see – what would make Charlotte cringe?’ Maybe a few mallards, some tartan plaid, a dark brocade… I’ll admit we had fun being Bunny!”

Under Conway’s skillful command, the design team whipped up a palace fit for a princess. “If you recall Charlotte’s old apartment when she was single, it was very tasteful, simple and elegant. Very ‘ivory tower.’ So that’s what we wanted to carry into her married home as well.”

Though Charlotte has an artistic background, she would hire an interior designer to help her execute her vision. “She knows what she wants; she makes the selections. She’s the list maker and there’s a facilitator,” explains Conway.

The bedroom – where a great deal of Charlotte and Trey’s troubles take place – is one of Conway’s favorite creations. “If you recall the whole fight at ABC Carpet & Home over the bed, that was Charlotte’s turning point: she found her voice – as Trey lost his – and decided to stand up to Bunny. That bed was going to be her way or no way.” As a result, Conway built the couple an enormous bed, “so big, we also had to build nightstands so they could fit with it.” The headboard is upholstered silk, with linens by Ann Gish in a chiffon botanical print, and bedside lamps from Bond Street Antiques.

With an antique chandelier, sideboard, china cabinet, table and chairs, Charlotte’s dining room is the ultimate in elegant entertaining. “She’s replaced the original plaid drapes and opulent dark tablecloth with floral wallpaper and a walnut table,” says Conway. “Everything in this room is so Charlotte: especially the little pink blooms in the Osborne & Little wallpaper pattern and the classic Bernadaud china.”

Charlotte’s artistic eye would no doubt be drawn to little details, Conway says. “So we put in lots of them. We took all the shelves out of the china cabinet, made them from glass and mounted quartz lights. We wanted the china to really glow, and this way, the light passes through it.”

He used rosettes for the holdbacks on the draperies, and chose alabaster lamps to add even more light and warmth. “I really love the chandelier we found at Basil Lawrence Antiques,” he adds. “It’s made of little crystals that dance in the light. Charlotte would also insist on fresh flower arrangements. “Always white,” adds Conway. “Pure and pristine.”

Charlotte’s interior decorating fantasy came true when the apartment was featured in House and Garden magazine. It marked the end of Charlotte and Trey’s marriage, but also the re-emergence of Charlotte as her own designing woman.

Because I am such a massive fan of Sex and the City (SATC) and have seen all of the episodes loads and loads of times. Along with the movie, and with the build up to the second movie in full swing because of all the on-set pictures. I decided that I am going to revisit every episode thanks to my DVD collection which just happens to be in a small shoe box . . . yes I have the full lot all in one box. So I am going to review each episode . . . This could take a while or it could not take too long at all. So  . . . watch this space . . .

Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda are going to be watched and enjoyed yet again, along with their many men over the seasons and years and of course Mr. Big.

I will be putting in my views on the main issues in each episode.

An overloaded cast can’t work through the issues of a flabby script and scattershot direction.

One of the most frequently heard gripes about American cinema the last couple of years is that adult movies – films made for grown-ups, about grown-up issues or at least matters relevant to audiences over 30 years old – are on the wane. It’s wondered if people who aren’t in college, or better yet high school, haven’t got the time to trek to a movie theatre and sit still for two hours. (Note to Hollywood: these days most of us are working too hard.) Films made for this demographic, the occasional romcom aside, don’t do as well as the superhero and vampire fluff that have become the studios’ meat and potatoes.

Certainly, marriage and parenthood are relevant, if not crucial, topics for “older” audiences, as are such ideas as romance and keeping some sense of youth and spontaneity alive once day-to-day living takes on a limitless routine. Life goes on, like the man said, long after the thrill of living is gone. Hollywood has a long and proud tradition of films addressing such quiet crises: The Big Chill, Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice, Two For The Road, The Ice Storm, and quite a few others all tackled its dangers. Notice that all of those films are dramas, however. Not one saw the lighter side of marital ennui and pre-midlife regret.

Just here to get lei'ed: the cast.

Couples Retreat could have been a smarter movie, a more mature film, and a sharper examination of the same topics if it tried harder than it does. But instead its script (co-written by stars Vince Vaughn and Jon Favreau) too often panders to its presumed audience without ever really getting beneath the skin of the problems that lurk, like the lemon sharks of its lone suspense sequence, just beneath its surface. As with far too many major studio releases these days, the film takes pains to make sure the audience isn’t provoked into reflection, or into questioning the issues the characters only passingly mention they have. In lieu of that approach there’s too many lazy jokes, too much easy humor, too many cutesy-cute sitcommish gags about precious kids. It’s a safe film, from top to bottom and every frame between.

Uptight couple Jason and Cynthia (Jason Bateman and Kristen Bell) have hit a rough spot in their marriage, largely from their inability to have a child. Strapped for cash and desperate to make their marriage work, they approach five of their friends – two other couples and a recently-divorced male (Favreau and Kristin Davis, Vaughn and Malin Ackerman, Faizon Love) – with a group-rate package vacation to Eden, a tropical resort that doubles as therapeutic boot camp for troubled marriages. The couples agree, with Love’s hapless Shane bringing along his party-hardy 20-year old girlfriend Trudy (Kali Hawk). Once at the resort the couples’ plans for a vacation are foiled by resort regulations that demand they engage in therapy and communication skill-building sessions.

It’s only a little predictable, maybe, that each couple is in a different phase of disintegration: Favreau and Davis’ Joey and Lucy tolerate each other only until their teen daughter leaves for college; Vaughn and Ackerman’s Dave and Ronnie are just beginning to hit the skids; Shane and Trudy barely know each other. So far, so good, except each character takes their respective problem and amplifies it to ten. Part of the problem is that with so many characters, respective characterization gets lost in the shuffle: how can the audience keep up with everyone, unless they stand out? But it’s annoying nonetheless that each character has to go loud to be heard, and everyone’s behavior inevitably becomes childish and plot-focused. There’s very little sense these people know each other, past some laborious exposition dropped into a belabored first act.

Director Peter Billingsley keeps the plot moving, and again with so many characters there’s a lot to juggle. But individual scenes suffer as a direct result, with episodes trailing off and getting whisked from the viewer’s attention before they’ve reached their dramatic or comedic payoff. The result is an uneven middle and an too-tidy resolution that relies on too much convention, at least one out-of-left-field plot contrivance, and more than a little schlock. A film about adults in marital trouble doesn’t need one gag about a child using a sales floor demo toilet. The story in which two such jokes are necessary doesn’t exist.

The cast, by and large, brings exactly what you’ve come to expect from them in other performances. Bateman and Bell are charming in their sunny respectability; Vaughn and Favreau are smart-assed and cranky. Davis is Charlotte York. Ackerman is charming and pretty, and seems vastly more comfortable than she appeared in Watchmen earlier this year. Love isn’t a bad actor, but watching his sad sack performance I couldn’t help but wish, and not for the first time, that Bernie Mac was still with us. Of the other cast members, Jean Reno is amusing as the resort’s spacey therapy guru, while Peter Serafinowicz  does an effective Jonathan Pryce impression as the resort’s maitre ‘d.

Ultimately, it’s hard not to imagine this film as a better choice for a January or February release. It’s quality notwithstanding, all the sun and surf lovingly displayed will no doubt offer a welcome escape when winter is at its heaviest. That’s actually about the time the DVD should hit store shelves, so audiences with anything less than a compelling interest in the film would do well to wait until then.

Et ça me fait drôlement plaisir de la retrouver.

Il faut dire qu’au fil des années Carrie et sa bande de copines sont un peu devenues mes favorites New-York gals.
Du genre de celles dont les histoires d’amour foireuses vous font hurler de rire (mais ne sont parfois pas sans vous rappeler les vôtres…), dont l’amitié vous fait fortement penser à celle qui vous unit avec vos amies les plus proches, dont vous enviez les amis gays tellement clairvoyants et drôles et dont vous vous dites qu’à elles quatre elles sont un assez joli portrait des femmes actuelles et de leurs contradictions.

Dont vous enviez le dressing et le shoesing, est-ce nécessaire de le dire?

Perso, presque je vous donne Shali contre le mini-dressing de Carrie.

J’aime beaucoup leurs mecs aussi. Les portraits sont presque aussi soignés et complets que ceux de leurs amoureuses.

Donc elles sont bientôt de retour (en Mai 2010), et en attendant elles tournent, et moi je me régale des images.

La paper-dress Dior est de retour, Carrie a troqué ses Manolos pour des Louboutins, les fringues de créateurs à beaucoup trop de dollars sont visiblement de nouveau très très présentes. Une fois encore le dressing du film s’éloigne de celui de la série, mais j’imagine que ce n’est que la rançon de la gloire et les contraintes liées au passage au grand écran.

Heureusement la old days Carrie semble ne pas avoir totalement disparu, et vraiment, qu’est-ce que je l’aime avec ces looks là!!

Les scénaristes ont visiblement prévu de nous raconter l’arrivée des quatre donzelles à New-York back in the 80’s…j’ai hâte de découvrir les scènes. Les tenues sont assez prometteuses…

Plus je regarde l’ensemble de ces photos, plus je les trouve belles ces quatre femmes. Elles sont loin d’avoir des beautés classiques (sauf Kirstin Davis), mais elles ont toutes un charme et un éclat qui les aident à joliment vieillir (oui, un peu de chirurgie aussi, probablement). Et à rester finalement assez “normales” comparées à certaines de leurs consoeurs.

Houdt deze eighties look in dat we straks terug in de tijd gaan? Terug naar het moment dat de Carrie Bradshaw, Miranda Hobbes, Charlotte York en Samantha Jones elkaar leren kennen? Het lijkt mij geweldig! 
Ik vraag me ineens af of  Mr. Big ook in deze eighties flashback voorkomt…

Ik heb in ieder geval al besloten dat ik de nieuwe SATC film wil zien, al was het maar om die fantastische eighties look van de dames.

They’re back!!! Carrie, Miranda, Samantha, and Charlotte are back in full force. Sex and the City 2 began filming last week, September 1, in New York City. The SATC fashions are also back and better than ever. It seems that Carrie has traded in her coveted Manolo’s for Louboutin’s.

Sarah Jessica Parker was spotted on set as Carrie Bradshaw wearing a Christian Doir Fall 2000 newspaper print dress. Fellow SATC addict, Catherine Kallon over at redcarpet-fashionawards.com noticed that Carrie had worn the dress previously on an episode during Season 3.

I am soooo excited and cannot wait for all the fashions that I know the ladies will bring.

Si alguien pensaba que las chicas mas famosas de toda Nueva York no iban a volver tras los 400 millones que recaudaron el verano pasado en taquilla, está apañado, porque Carrie, Samantha, Miranda y Charlotte volveran a la pantalla grande el año que viene.

Tras su periplo por las pantallas de las televisiones, en una de las series de la HBO que causó sensación en su momento, las chicas dieron el salto el año pasado a la pantalla grande, aunque Kim Cattrall juró y perjuró tras la sexta temporada que no volvería a ponerse al lado de Sarah-Jessica Parker. No obstante hubo una primera peli donde la protagonista nos vuelve a contar su relación con Mr. Big y ahora tendremos “Sexo en Nueva York 2″ y las imágenes lo atestiguan.

En esta ocasión se supone (sobre todo por la siguiente foto), que Michael Patrick King echará mano de los flashbacks para ver la llegada de Carrie a Nueva York, y como conocerá a las que son sus mejores amigas (todo es un suponer, que no hay nada oficial exceptuando las fotos).

Volvemos a ver a Carrie con Mr. Big, ahora su marido tras el periplo que sufrieron ambos en la primera película (pincha aqui para leer la reseña), y es de suponer que también veremos los nuevos escarceos amorosos de Samantha, que había vuelto al redil tras darse cuenta, que no podía vivir su vida sin Nueva York, sin sus amigas ni sin su ración de sexo con una gran variedad de hombres.

Y yo me pregunto, si la primera peli ya perdió todo aquello por lo que se caracterizó la serie, su humor irreverente en bastasntes ocasiones (sobre todo las protagonizas por Catrall), la voz en off de la protagonista cuando acababa un artículo, el lujo, el glamour, lo chic, el conocer a gente nueva…. ¿que podemos esperar de esta segunda parte? (porque en un capítulo de la serie, ya se comentó algo a cerca de la llegada de Carrie Bradshaw a Nueva York). Por cierto, algo de lo que se habla bastante, es que uno de los temas que tratará la película es la crisis económica que está sacudiendo al mundo (en fin………para estas señoras que nadan en el lujo y la abundancia no creo que sea igual que para un mileurista!!!)

En fin……….que todas las seguidoras de la serie, aunque finalmente nos disguste (cosa más que probable), acabaremos yendo al cine a ver las nuevas peripecias de estas 4 neoyorkinas. La fecha prevista de estreno en Estados Unidos es para el 4 de Junio de 2010, veremos cuando llega a la cartelera española.

Lorsque j’ai entendu que Dubai refusait une autorisation de tournage pour des séquences de la suite du film Sex and the City après en avoir examiné le scénario, je me suis dit qu’on était vraiment dans la gêne. Ensuite, mon ami le Juif a écrit son article, A propos des cochonnes, et ça m’a fait réfléchir (ce qui est déjà pas mal) à toutes ces questions de cochonaille.

Pour avoir suivi la série dès ses débuts, j’ai pu nettement observer un avant et un après Sex and the City dans la façon dont ses spectatrices appréhendent leur vie sexuelle. Et je me demande comment les producteurs du film ont pu penser une seconde que l’Emirat accepterait que des scènes d’un film appelant (sans doute involontairement) à la prolifération des cochonnes soient tournées sur ses terres si pieuses.

On pourrait croire que ces appels à la cochonceté ne proviennent que des films pornos, des imaginaires foisonnants des hommes et de certains clips embarrassants, et donc que la cochonnerie ne désigne qu’un mirage. Pourtant, nous devons nous rendre à l’évidence, ce concept est utilisé pour qualifier des femmes de chair et d’os. Celles qui font des “choses”, des “trucs” qui plaisent aux hommes, qui les font sans demander d’engagement préalable, qui les font “tôt”, qui prennent du plaisir à le faire, qui les font souvent et qui ne s’en cachent pas. Finalement, une salope, ce n’est rien de plus qu’une Samantha Jones (tu ne sais pas qui est Samantha Jones ? Donc si je fais un petit syllogisme, qu’est-ce qu’on obtient ? Une salope, c’est Samantha Jones. Samantha Jones est sublime, classe, drôle, coolissime. Une salope est donc… et oui, vous avez compris le principe. Etre une salope, grâce à Sex and the City, c’est devenu cool. Donc toutes les demoiselles plus ou moins jeunes qui ont suivi cette série désormais culte n’aspirent qu’à ça : devenir Samantha Jones pour attirer les hommes (car il ne faut pas se leurrer, c’est à chaque fois le but ultime). Et là, tout le monde devrait être content. Oui, mais non. Le fait est qu’elles se font aussi vite traiter de salopes (avec la connotation négative que l’on sait) et souvent quitter par leurs partenaires de galipettes pas du tout séduits par leurs exploits. A quel moment tout cela déraille? Ça déraille parce que la frontière entre femme épanouie et petite-écervelée-qui-devient-une-sous-Tabatha-Cash-de-province-en-croyant-imiter-Samantha-Jones, est très fine. On ne s’improvise pas Samantha Jones.

Un ami hétéro m’a dit il y a quelques années, en plein boom Sex and the City: je hais cette série ! avec une véhémence surprenante. Pourquoi? Parce que les filles de 20-25 ans ne sont pas naturellement des Samantha, elles veulent le devenir parce qu’elles ont l’impression que c’est plus cool, du coup elles s’efforcent d’être des Samantha et le résultat n’est pas naturel, pas tripant et surtout absolument pas bandant. Dans une logique kantienne tout à fait louable mais un peu hypocrite de la part d’un homme clairement atteint de don-juanisme, il s’insurgeait contre celles qui, de façon purement artificielle, traitent désormais les mecs comme des objets et envisagent les rapports sexuels comme une bataille pour le plaisir et une bataille tout court. Toutes des fausses cochonnes finalement qui essaient d’attirer et surtout de garder des hommes ainsi, et pas de profiter de la vie comme elles le prétendent, à l’image de leur nouveau gourou hédoniste. Toutes des Charlotte York mal déguisées en Samantha Jones. Mais ce qu’elles n’ont pas compris ces ingénues libertines, c’est que Charlotte n’essaie pas de devenir Samantha, elle ne doit ab-so-lu-ment pas essayer de devenir Samantha, mais rester Charlotte parce que c’est ce qui fait son charme, son attrait et son authenticité.

Quoiqu’il en soit, une aspirante Samantha Jones ne devrait pas se taper un minet de 22 ans, au QI d’un lampadaire, et susceptible de la traiter bêtement de cochonne après. Parce que les petits jeunes hommes que courtisent ces jeunes demoiselles dans la pose permanente, en quête de reconnaissance, de succès et surtout, d’amour, ne sont pas prêts à accueillir des Samantha (authentiques ou pas) dans leurs lits. Noyés dans leur jeunesse, leur ignorance et leurs chimères, ils confondent femmes modernes et incarnations des personnages de films pornos qu’ils ont longtemps cru confinées à leur écran de télé (ou d’ordinateur). Et dans une sorte d’effet contraire, ils se sentent agressés, remis en question, en compétition, et font marcher leurs mécanismes de défense. Perdus dans leurs stéréotypes et clichés, ils rejettent ces cochonnes après consommation et ne reconnaissent pas en elles la femme épanouie qu’est Samantha Jones mais la multitude de mauvaises reproductions auxquelles elle a malencontreusement donné naissance. Ainsi tout le monde se fourvoie, le fossé entre hommes et femmes se creuse, les incompréhensions et insatisfactions augmentent, les psy et les marques de lingerie vulgaire font fortune et le célibat se répand.

C’est pourquoi, s’il faut indubitablement remercier Candace Bushnell, Darren Star et surtout Kim Cattrall d’avoir créée Samantha et de lui avoir donné la sublime apparence, l’inégalable allure et la classe à toute épreuve de cette magnifique femme de 50 ans, il ne faut pas oublier qu’elle nous rappelle deux choses: qu’une femme peut, dans un même effort, être à l’aise avec sa féminité et sa sexualité et tomber dans le cliché le plus pathétique pensant avoir trouvé la clé de la séduction et de l’épanouissement.
