As I mentioned in my previous post, I bought The Covenant DVD. Well, I watched it last night!

But I was wrong all these years, it’s not about vampire at all! It’s about people with super power (A better version of Push). I rate it B because of interesting plot but boring final fight. I’d love to see variation of powers.

It’s one of those movies with great looking casts and lots of flesh showing; guys in swimming trunks, girls in their undies, pushing so much on sex appeal, eh? hehe…

But I’d love to see a sequel.

Anyway, Milla Jovovich replied my tweet and she said she’d love to come here (Indonesia) haha… Maybe I’d tell her that she must go to Bali instead of Jakarta. or Batam? hahaa…

Oh well, I did nothing interesting today. I think I must start reading the book I bought yesterday.

this is one for the dont need to see. it has stars in it that you think would make a good movie but this movie lacked the plot to keep you interested. i watched it with some expectations that it was going to be an interesting movie packed with action but from the get go it was a flop. your basic plot of a drug deal gone bad and the revenge of an old mate who is out for blood.

So…I have a HUGE confession to make. After the past two weeks of GG and a lot of self discovery, I think my love interest might be shifting. It’s true, it’s true, I might be proclaiming for the first time that dear old Chuck is over. While his half-smile while mini-spooning Blair was adorable, I’m totally not into this holier-than-though bullshit.

So I open the polls.

Do I convert to the boring story line (what, what, m-fire), with the growing-on-me classic cuteness?

The really annoying facial movement, but oh-so-dreamy new haircut (this image does him no justice…I swear he is looking better and better on that little screen every Monday night. And, I think he’s getting beefier).

Or stick with a tried and true (and, while Derkins here might enjoy the tats, I’m totally not into them. Feather…I just don’t get it).

Ready…set…vote. Really, I do need some serious guidance, I’m totally torn.

P.S. Great move on the part of the GG to pair the only two good actresses. Two thumbs up for a season full of Blair and Georgina!

New York and I have had a good run. For more years than I’d care to admit, we’ve been really happy together.

I’ve had plenty of those Only-in-NY Moments. Take, for example, the homeless guy who peed in an empty bag of potato chips on the E train on my morning commute once. Or the Michael Jackson birthday party in Prospect Park. Stuff like that doesn’t happen anywhere else…and I guess there’s a sort of pride attached to it when you live here and you get to go to those things because you’ve made a conscious decision to be here.

I’ve had my fair share of celebrity sightings: Dianne Wiest, Gabriel Byrne (we live in the same ‘hood — he used to go to Cafe Scaramouche before it became Buttermilk Channel), Debra Messing, Uma Thurman, Steve Buscemi, Chase Crawford, Mario Cantone, and that tall guy from Law & Order SVU. Denny Doherty of the Mamas and the Papas starred in the musical that was performing at the theater where I worked my first summer in New York. And I interviewed the Naked Cowboy once…and had “Hi Lisa, it’s Naked…” on my voicemail for a really long time.

I’ve had some really good times here and I’ve met a lot of wonderful people and I’m so, so glad I did that big, scary thing and moved here by myself all those years ago.

And for a long time — whether because of work or school or my own personal dramas — I’ve sort of been gliding along here. I built myself a home. And for the first time since California circa 1994, I’ve felt like there’s this one place in the world where I belong. And, sure, I hate the uncertainty of freelancing and wish things had turned out differently post-J-school, but…for the most part, I’ve been fine. Sure, it’s a busy place that sucks a lot out of you…and I always looked forward to escaping to Alaska because it’s pretty much the exact opposite of New York in every way and I could actually slow down for a bit and breathe in new surroundings and see places that were untouched by virtually anything and come back feeling like I could face everything again.

No more Alaska though — this year I went to Arizona and New Mexico. The trip had about the same effect, I guess…but returning to New York in July was the first time I haven’t actually been excited about coming back. Usually I can’t wait to get back to my apartment and my life. But I didn’t feel that way this year. And, for the first time, I started noticing things that never bothered me before — it’s dirty; it’s crowded; it’s full of egomaniacs.

Then I went away again — and the same thing happened upon my return. I just don’t feel the same about being here anymore. And somewhere along the way in either Colorado or Illinois on my *next* trip, it hit me: I think I’m ready to leave New York. I’m happier when I’m not here.

And, granted, it’s not exactly reality when I’m away because I don’t have to spend eight, ten, twelve hours in front of a computer writing asset management stories or applying for jobs or pitching freelance ideas or working on the Great American Novel (…or copywriting)…so maybe it isn’t entirely fair to blame unhappiness directly on New York. But, at the same time, I’ve done some freelance work while I’ve been away…and I still think it’s safe to say I’m happier in other places. (A New York friend even observed that I look happier in the photos on Facebook that were taken in other cities…)

Last weekend was my first weekend back in a long time. And I made lasagna and empanadas (which turned out BEAUTIFUL because I watched one of the chefs at Xoco very, very carefully and tried to mimic what she did…). And I realized how happy cooking makes me. (That’s one bad thing about so much traveling — I haven’t really cooked much.) I don’t really have the budget or the appetite to cook every day…but on those days that I do, the act itself always makes me happy…which sort of begs the question of culinary school, but that’s a whole other can of worms I’m not really ready to open yet. (Plus, writing still makes me happier than anything. So, ideally, I’ll be able to forge out a living combining the two someday…)

For now, I’m expanding my job search…and we’ll see what happens. (It’s never a bad thing to have additional options, right?) If I get my dream job in New York, I’ll stay. I’ll put up with insane rent and try to make an agent fall in love with my book proposal and maybe someday I’ll be on The View telling the ladies what a rough spot it was in ‘08-’09 before my life really took off.

Or…maybe the reason nothing has worked out here is because I’m not meant to stay. Maybe I should really be somewhere else. (The problem is that my life is in so many places…I don’t know where to go. For a long time I’ve said that I think my wedding will be the only day in my life when everyone I love is actually in the same place. Although I guess the glass-is-half-full spin is that I could really go anywhere. And that got me thinking about how happy I was when I lived in England…and that it’s crazy that I haven’t been back in seven years…so I think a trip to London is imminent.)

The sort of depressing part is that job opportunities didn’t expand exponentially when I started looking across the country. There is a pretty darn good one in Dallas…and a sort of okay one in Denver…but other than that, I really haven’t seen anything. (So…maybe it’ll be culinary school after all, eh?)

Nevertheless, I spent the good part of a morning this week looking at apartments in Dallas and realized that for less than half of what I am paying now, I could get an apartment with an actual bedroom and a dishwasher and a washer/dryer and access to pools and fitness centers and all sorts of crazy stuff. And I could finally get a golden retriever! (I even looked at breeders in Texas and found one that traced the lineage of its puppies on its Web site and the father of a litter that was due last September was related somewhere along the line to a dog named Miss Racey Lacey. Gotta be some sort of sign, right?)

If I was still exceedingly happy in New York…or if I was even taking advantage of living here anymore, I wouldn’t be looking beyond its limits. But I think I’m ready for a change. And now all I have to do is figure out what that actually means.

Ahh it has finally arrived, Gossip Girl is back and it’s time for college. To most peoples surprise (despite the spoiler rumors on other websites) Blair and Chuck are still together, as are Lily and Rufus. Blair and Chuck have been keeping their relationship alive by playing a little game of Blair being the woman scorned by Chuck pretending he is on the verge of cheating on her. Blair, of course, is only doing this to keep his attention for fear of him getting bored with her. I’m kind of bored with that! Serena convinces Blair that this is only going to hurt her feelings in the end, blah blah blah…

Dan and Jenny are officially movin on up to the upper east side, and leaving their old life behind for the moment, but are still in denial that they are changing. This, in turn, makes Vanessa furious that her BFF Dan is leaving her in the dust. Vanessa has a new boyfriend who is kind of a creep so far, it seems to me that he must be Lily and Rufus’s long lost son who is supposedly dead. We will have to wait and see how that pans out through the season.

Serena, on the other hand, has spent the summer in Europe acting out as her crazy party girl self and now has the photogs all over her. Throughout the episode she reveals to Blair that all of her bad behavior isn’t to get the attention of a boy she is interested in, but for the attention of her out-of-touch father… The idea of this story line bores me, but you never know how they are going to spin it throughout the season, so I guess we will have to wait and see.

so i don’t often think about the future love lives of today’s youth but after being bombarded by one too many pictures of overly-coiffed disneyfied boys i have begun to worry about the ability of young women to identify the difference between straight and gay men. disney et al has been selling us zac efron and the jonas brothers (to reiterate, at least 2/3 gay) as the heart throbs of a generation, pretending that they’re 100% heterosexual, oh and virgins.

to me, this is death knell for the gaydar of poor young straight girls. first, you’re selling boys that are, at the very least, straddling the boundaries of sexual preference and making them the focus of teen fantasy. second, and very importantly, they’re being sold as chaste, and this is being highlighted in a very positive manner. so imagine you have some young high school girl now madly in love with a fashion forward be-cheek-boned young man who has yet to come out and who claims chastity as a reason for not sticking it in her. this poor young girl has little chance of identifying her manbag carrying boyfriend as a ‘mo because disney has literally set her up for failure.

take a quick look at the picture below and see the clear differences between chase crawford being “straight” and a real straight guy, trevor. chase, on the left, looks like he’s got foundation on and is swimming in a cloud of dolce and gabbana blue. trevor, on the right, has his belly out and is dripping masculinity, among other things. young straight girls need to be given examples such as these at an early age so they are able to discern the difference between these two species of men.

Dallas Cowboys quarterback, Tony Romo, has moved on from ex Jessica Simpson and is reportedly dating Candice Crawford.

If the new woman seem somewhat familiar, that’s because she’s “Gossip Girl” star Chace Crawford’s younger sister.

Apparently Romo, 29, is “getting very cozy” with the 22-year-old former Miss Missouri, according to sources.

And Romo definitely has a type.  Candice bares a striking resemblance to his other ex, Carrie Underwood, who actually dated older bro Chace before he ended the relationship via text message in 2008.

Josh Schwartz creaza sublimul in materie de adolescenti cu probleme si combina, in 42 de episoade intriga, drama, tragic, comic, haine de designer, actori care, chiar fara exceptie, arata mult prea bine ca sa existe intr-o singura scoala, fie ea privata, si cam tot ce inseamna patura de sus din New York, si le combina mai siropos decat cele 10 carti. Evident ca succesul a fost prezent inca dinaintea inceperii seriei, insa trebuie sa ne intrebam de ce. Iata cateva motive.

1. Cine nu vrea sa vada cum se traieste in Upper East Side, Manhattan.

Serialul este o radiografie, probabil irealista, a vietii celor privilegiati din New York. Spunem probabil, fiindca in ciuda tuturor filmelor, articolelor , cartilor si Paris Hilton, societatea extrem de conservatoare si de retinuta a metropolei nu isi expune obiceiurile, decat cele care servesc luminii reflectoarelor la vreo gala. De aceea, serialul, fabulatie sau nu, a fost primit cu atat interes de catre tinerii americani si nu numai, dornici sa copieze fiecare aspect al acestei lumi.

2. Actorii

Cast-ul serialului urmeaza fraza care deschide seria cartilor, si anume ,,suntem toti frumosi, din familiile cele mai bune si ne pregatim pentru cele mai bune universitati”. Blake Lively & co  nu se dezmint, si astfel universul serialului devine unul foarte placut din punct de vedere estetic, si nu numai in ceea ce priveste vestimentatia (Marc by Marc Jacobs este imbracaminte de casa), mergand pe principiul ca ce-i frumos si lui Dumnezeu ii place. Asta ca sa arate plebei ca nu numai ca sunt snobi si extrem de bogati, dar si arata foarte bine, creand icons extrem de usor de adoptat de catre publicul tinta. Vreti un exemplu? Cand little Jenny Humpfrey se plimba prin fata scolilor private din New York, cautand un prieten care sa corespunda tiparului bogat, frumos, amabil, din familie una, dureaza cam o pauza de scoala sa gaseasca un candidat perfect, care intamplator isi plimba cainii.

3.Drama

„Gossip Girl” este, ca si categorie, un teen-drama. Aceasta eticheta este improprie tinand cont de faptul ca plot-ul fiecarui episod are in medie trei rasturnari de situatie, momente dramatice si  mult prea multe money-shots(in limbajul sopa opera aceasta este scena cand camera se apropie de fata tremuranda a actorului si acesta divulga secretul mult asteptat). Ilustrativ este faptul ca e mai usor sa povestesti cele 2 sezoane decat nu singur episod. Concluzia ar fi faptul ca serialul este ultra-dramatizat si te face sa intrebi daca viata unei singure persoane poate fi atat de palpitanta in decurs de 2 zile.

4. Moralitatea personajelor

Un factor important al chimiei create intre serial si audienta sunt valorile personajelor. Daca lumea vrea sa vada copiii bogati ai Manhattan-ului atunci cu certitudine vor iubi faptul ca ei nu par a avea nici o notiune de etica(in ciuda educatiei lor de prima clasa). Intr-o lume in care banii nu sunt o problema informatia este cea mai puternica. De aici, ideea coeziva a serialului,www.gossipgirl.com si tot ce deriva si construieste plotul: santaj, crima, delapidare, triunghiuri amoroase, aventuri sau lupte de putere. Chiar daca pentru unii asta este ceea ce atrage la serial, excesul e ceea ce il trage in jos.

5. Entertainment

Cum scoala este oricum o garantie, viata extra-scolara este in ton cu tot ceea ce am descris mai sus, adica evident fabuloasa. Aceasta include petreceri aproape saptamanale, baluri mascate, The White Party, vacante de ski in Aspen, vacante de vara in Toscana, Franta si, cum altfel, Hamptons , plecari spontane in Spania, reuniunea familiei Rockefeller si lista poate continua. Din nou, ilustrativa este petrecerea ,,in pijama” pe care Blair o da anual, la care este invitata si Jenny, care soseste cu papuci de casa cu iepurasi si plapuma cu Sponge Bob, doar ca sa descopere ca Slumber party in viziunea lui Blair inseamna catering, haine de designer si un joc mai ,,emancipat” de adevar sau provocare.

In final, tot ajungi sa te uiti la „Gossip Girl”, oricat de ireal sau improbabil pare pentru ca pe masura ce povestea evolueaza si se complica stai si te gandesti daca chiar se poate mai rau de atat. Daca il punem in aceeasi categorie cu „Tanar si nelistit” serialul e mult mai inteligent creat insa ii lipseste o calitate individuala a unui show T.V. cu adevarat bun

I spied Chace Crawford last week at Beach Bum Tanning on 14th street hopping out of a tanning bed.. can we say yum! Television does this hottie NO justice… especially in the height department- homeboy has to be over 6ft tall! Crazy.. who knew??

Additional GG cast members spotted @ the celeb tanning central on 14th street include Blake Lively.

Atores Ashley Greene de “Lua Nova” e Chace Crawford de ”Gossip Girl” já namoraram antes de serem flagrados aos beijos na manhã seguinte ao Teen Choice Awards. (como ja foi postado anteriormente), mas, segundo a revista In Touch, os atores começaram a ficar há um ano. “Chace sempre gostou dela. Eles estavam bem apaixonados na época”, conta a fonte da publicação.

I must admit that before this weekend, the extent of my knowledge about the sport of polo revolved around what I’d discerned from the Ralph Lauren logo—I knew there were horses and mallets involved, but that was it.  After venturing this weekend to Bridgehampton for the Opening Day of the Mercedes-Benz Polo Challenge, I still know nothing about the sport, but I have learned that it’s the quintessential Hamptons society activity during the summer.

Polo in Bridgehampton is hardly about who wins or loses—I don’t think that anyone even pays attention to the announcer—it’s about which spectator has the best time—and looks the best while doing it.  Held every Saturday at the Blue Star Jets Field up until August 22^nd, the fabulous and famous crowd together beneath the white tents for some polo watching and some people watching.  The latter was what most interested me so I was out observing the fashions.

Instead of the wide hats and Oscar de la Renta dresses I half-expected to see, women dressed much more casually, preferring sundresses and the sort.  Surprisingly, most of the peacocking came from the men, who sported a wonderful array of colors.  White jeans were predictably popular, along with tailored sports coats and bright accents.  It was really all about the color, and it was refreshing to see so many men dress so boldly.

Guests mingled and enjoyed the beautiful weather, fueled by libations from the open bar as well as an assortment of snacks and hors d’oeuvres.  I personally couldn’t get enough of the mini cupcakes passed around in the VIP tent—I must have eaten an entire passed tray throughout the two-hour-long event.  Celebrity wattage came from famous faces like Star Jones, Chase Crawford (who hosted last year’s opening), Beth Ostrosky and several realty TV stars.

Even though I was a polo neophyte, I still knew about star player Nacho Figueras from the Ralph Lauren fragrance ads and so the day’s highlight may just have been spotting him in the front of the Ralph Lauren Black Watch tent.  And yes, he’s just as beautiful in person as he is in those pictures.

Mmmm. Man bangs.

Who else can rock those sexy, wispy (but gotta be annoying ) bangs better than Zac Efron and Chase Crawford do? Or did, for that matter, because it looks like the two have chopped off their luxurious trademark locks that us ladies have been going gaga over since the first time we saw them fall into the eyes of Hollywood’s hottest hunks.

The way those strands fell on their forehead, framing their flawless faces of perfection made us wonder what was hiding behind them. Would we be able to handle the sexiness that would come with Zac and Chase exposing another 1/3rd of their faces? Was there more hotness backthere to be exposed?

Okay, so maybe they were getting a tad bit outta control, but a trim would have been just fine. Did they really need to get rid of the bangs completely?

What drove these mad men to do such a thing? Zac and Chase with no bangs is like Lil Wayne with no dreads…it’s just not right. Are they going for a new clean cut look, a new vibe? Or do they just want to flaunt their blazin blue eyes in which every girl is swimming? Why, God, WHY?!

What do you think about the new ‘do? Or should I say don’t?
