Today was a hard day, and a joyous day. My friend got married, I love weddings because it’s a celebration of love and this couple is definitely in love. Not only because they remained pure until their wedding day but you could see it in their appreciation of one another and how they encouraged and challenged one another. It was a hard day because love can be hard sometimes especially when you are not expecting it to happen, sometimes at the wrong time. For me it’s complicated, but I know what I want, and I am open to love for the first time in a long time. I can see myself in love and doing all those things that I despised seeing couples do lol. OK call me a hater but I know where it stems from

Welcome Love

Just when I wasn’t missing him as much…and having dreams (good dreams) involving other men…he starts to email me again.  Nothing serious, just the same old bullshit, so I deleted and did not respond.

Like three weeks ago, I left him a voicemail telling him that I wanted OUT and no longer wanted to be in contact with him.  He didn’t call me back, no email, no text, no anything!

A couple of weeks go by and I thought, WOW, I’m finally free of him…that was until yesterday!

Here’s hoping it was just a fluke and he’s already deleted me from his list of contacts!

But, honestly,  I still have a little glimmer of hope for us…I’m such a sucker…

I woke up this morning with the goal to get as much school work done as possible!  So, far, I’m doing okay.  With only a few interruptions via Facebook, Gmail, and my blog, I think I’m well on my way.

Except, I can’t stop thinking about him.  Lord, this is getting ridiculous!  I know it will take some time, I just hope I have enough will power to kick him this time.  I can’t help but think, he must think I’m crazy and indecisive!  I’ve told him I want nothing to do with him, so many times before, I’ve lost count.

Each time before, we won’t talk or be in contact with each other for a couple of months or so, but then inevitably, someone will send a text or an email and we pick up where we stopped.  I tell you, it’s such a vicious cycle!  I feel like I’m chasing pavements…

Here’s to hoping that doesn’t happen this time.  I really feel, that I haven’t had the best luck with men, because secretly I’ve been pining for him and sabotaging all my other relationships.

Well, I should get back to my school work now.  Until my next thought…please be well!

Hot Reality TV show featuring couples: Giuliana & Bill

There’s something about watching fun ‘real’ couples on TV dealing with couple issues, getting older, and just having fun. Giuliana & Bill is a show on the Style Network that follows the life of E! News Giuliana DePandi and former The Apprentice Season One winner Bill Rancic. Although most Couple Reality Shows seem very scripted and fake, watching these two TV show veterans trying hard to lead a normal life keeps us very entertained.

Hot Artist to listen to: Adele

If you’re looking for soulful music that is backed by a powerful voice, then British singer Adele is for you – Her sound is unique and yet familiar at the same time that paints a picture of the life she had and the life that she is living now. Definitely an artist that you should keep an eye out for in the near future.

Hot Food to eat right now: Wingstop Chicken Wings

Of course there are other places where you can eat where the food isn’t so bad for you, but every relationship deserves a break from the everyday eating grind of salads and fruit. The wings are flavorful and the price is reasonable. If you’re lucky enough to be near a Wingstop then make sure you bring your appetite.

Hot Exercise activity: Jogging

Well after you come back from the Wingstop, don’t rest too long! Rather than going to an indoor smelly gym where you will be distracted by either gorgeous eye candy or by someone looking at your cute partner, take your exercising outdoors with some light jogging. The fresh air will do you both good.

Before anyone gets all “copyright lawyer” on me, I will admit the obvious:  I’m “using/borrowing/adapting” Adele’s song title for my own use and express benefit.

I was going to say, “So sue me,” but actually, no.  Please don’t.  I just spent the $78 I made at my garage sale and don’t have a penny for legal fees.  I hear bake sales are profitable, but when you factor in all these new nut allergies and everyone wanting gluten-free products, it pretty much leaves me with a pile of scrambled eggs and a bowl of canned mandarin oranges.  Something tells me they might not be hot sellers.

I digress.

If you’ve ever heard Adele elaborate on this song or if you’ve cracked into the world of urban dictionary [.com], you know that to chase pavements is to beat at the wind.  To chase something elusive and perhaps non-existent.  To continue down a proverbial dead-end road.  You get the idea.

I’ve been chasing after something that has seemed impossible for years.  It’s actually not even a personal “thing” in my own life, for my own body/self/person, or even in my own family.  I’ve been begging with God, praying, pleading on behalf of someone else and that person’s needs.  Have you ever been there?  Have you ever done that?  Desperately emptying yourself, draining all your tears, wringing out your heart, only to leave the Cross feeling like you’re chasing pavements? That your holy and righteous and God-honoring prayer might not be answered in the way that seems to make sense?

When I run, this is part of the path that leads me to and from my home.  Over the past year I’ve passed this spot more times than I can count–and before I started running, hundreds of times with my trusty dog.  Sometimes familiarity like this can breed a certain level of blindness.  It becomes second nature to ignore one’s surroundings while the backdrop of your life passes by in similar color and texture.

But this spring I was nearly stopped in my tracks by this lovely burst of green, this determined patch of life that erupted from the concrete crust around it.  And all at once, I could sense the Lord speaking to my heart, that the “pavements” person in my life could be like this mysterious and tenacious grass.  That this person could possibly make it.  Could overcome the odds.  Could turn it around.  Could push through the hard and the cold that seems to weigh down the spirit.  Could experience life in a new way.  Could really live!

Boy, God.  Do I believe that?  Do I have enough faith?

So each time my feet slap the earth, I repeat the same name in my head.  I say it.  And say it.  And say it.

Tears come, and I say it.

Joy and sorrow flood me.

Am I chasing pavements?  Sometimes it feels like it.  The road stretches out long and arduous in either direction of that small island of life in the picture.  And likewise, the answer I long for still seems far off.

But I’m starting to see the spark of something.  And I’m still willing to chase.  To believe.  To hope.

Because I know that someday that pavement will turn into streets of gold, and I’m desperate to share the road.

You can do wonderful things on pavements. Like walking. Or, as our two videos today prove, much more creative stuff.

Eg White is pretty much unknown.  Well, have you heard of him?

Initially he and his brother were in an 80’s band called Brother Beyond who had a number two hit with “the harder I try”.

He left the band and in 1991 released a masterpiece with Alice Temple (as Eg and Alice) called 24 years of hunger.  It is one of my favourite pop recrords of all time.  Beautiful, poignant and with superbly crafted electronic songs.

We’ve had to wat 18 years for its follow up, Adventure man, which I discovered in the secondhand section at Avalanche late last week.

But he hasn’t been posted missing totally, initially joining the Stock, Aitken and Waterman writing team in the late 80’s he has penned hits for Alison Moyet, Duffy, adele, Sophie Ellis Bexter, James Morrison, James blunt (rhymes with….), Emilianna Torrini.

He wrote ‘Chasing Pavements’ for Adele (the stand out track on her excellent album) as well as Warwick Avenue (the stand out track on Duffy’s debut.)

So the boy can write.  (indeed he’s won a bunch of Ivor Novello’s)

And me, well I think he can sing too.  On Adventure Man things pretty much take up where ‘24 years’ left off.  He doesn’t have a classic voice, it’s a bit on the thin side but it’s the songs that count and in ‘But California’,’ Broken‘ and ‘My People’ he has three songs that will finish the year among the top of the year.

But you know what?  Unless you do something about it he will remain in public obscurity whilst being a megastar industry-side.

Ok, so I was watching another talent on youtube. His name is Andrew Garcia and he was doing a cover of ‘Chasing Pavements’ by Adele.

So… whats confusing??

Well, if you must know ( ;p ) whilst listening to him singing, someone (who shall not be named, because of fear of harm LOL) made the comment;

“..why does he sing like that it doesn’t sound nice..”

This was my reaction!!!!!!

……Well, pretty much (thats my little bro btw)

But what I’m trying to say was that I was really into the video, I was feeling his tone and his skills with his voice.. and then, when someone says something like that… it makes me confused… Why did i think the complete opposite??

* Were they bored and just said it for the sake of having something to say??

*Do I just not know what a good voice is? (no that can’t be right!)

*Is it just a matter of opinion? could be..

Well regardless, I still like this video and more importantly I think Andrew’s voice is amazing. And I know for sure I’m not the only one. Far from it.

So this is what started it….

So I have become more focused and better prepare, and with the much ended help of other people who are WAY better at organisation and planning than I am! My good, gorgeous big thinking friend Taz has been helping me get out of my head whats in there. So instead of getting an idea thinking, “Ohhh that would be good!” then forgetting about it- Taz has been helping me put the thoughts into actions!

So I have begun to plan my week, two days minimum set writing days- one of which is tonight! YAY! And then plan everything else in my life that would cause me stress if its not sorted. For some people they cannot focus on being creative if they have something on their mind nagging at them to do- for me its the opposite! If I have something to do, a bank to call etc music and writing lets me escape- This is not a good thing!!

My songwriting style isn't this neat!

So this week I wrote with aspiring artists Kate and Michael Met up about 6pm and work on through to late. Got the beginnings of a killer chorus for a song Michael is writing and expanded some great ideas for a concept Kate is mulling over. Was fun and difficult as they both get easily distracted! haha- I have told them this so they won’t be offended if they read this!! Was interesting and helpful for me learning how to co-write with someone and help them say what they want to say. Was listening a couple of weeks ago to a guy called Eg White- he wrote Leave Right Now- Will Young and co wrote Adeles Chasing Pavements and DuffysWarrick Avenue : basically he the man!! I recommend you read this article- its very interesting as to the direction of co-writing right now in the music industry.

Hurra! Die von mir hochgeschätzte Adele hat das schönste Lied seit Jahren, Hometown Glory, endlich visueller Kosmetik unterzogen! Jetzt denkt jeder, der woanders wohnt als er geboren wurde, bitte an seine Heimatstadt, zieht für einen Moment den Hut und klatscht dann in die Hände! 

So I am siting here listening to my husband play Halo. Now I understand that Halo is a “big deal” in the video game world and I guess I understand (not really) but I’m trying.  The only thing I don’t get is the whole head-set thing. He persists to SCREAM into the little microphone that is attached to his head like he works at the McDonald’s drive-thru.

No matter how hard I try to drown him out – I simply can’t. So I have resorted to sit in the bedroom with my ipod on full blast still to no avail. Between Adele singing her heart out in the song “chasing pavements” I hear my husband yell “NO, NO, GET THE TACOS” What the hell are TACOS?! In video game?! After my breif Halo lesson my husband informed me that “Tacos” are what he and his followers call grenades. Okay, I don’t get it and I am not going to pretend to try.
