Hi! I’m Lefty, Scott’s left butt cheek, and it has always been my choice to live a life of freedom. But as I grow older I have come to the realization that I’m missing out on a lot of things that life has to offer.

Now, I’m not saying that the life I live today is not a good one. Quite the contrary, I thoroughly enjoy my life. I can bare all when I feel like it, and don’t have to ask permission. When I’m feeling sensitive I can wrap myself in a nice pair of jeans! And I’ve got my best friend Righty with my all the time! It’s just that a best friend is only a best friend. Sure, Righty and I just blow with the wind whenever we feel a breeze and have really grown attached to each other over the years, but it would be nice to cuddle cheek-to-cheek with someone else, you know? To leave an imprint on the world with someone new. And, hey, a guy needs a little slap and tickle now and then to really feel alive! Righty just can’t provide that! Even something as simple as a warm palm in my pocket as we walk the boardwalk would be nice. I want the simple things in life. To be fondled while shaking it on the dance floor. The amorous pinch that makes me tingle with excitement. Maybe even the feeling of little hands hanging from my pocket! I just need something new. I need something fresh!

So, maybe freedom has been my choice up until now, but I think that’s changed. I still need a buddy! That goes without saying. Righty and I will always be close, but, in the end, I think I need more. I need more then just someone to bum around with. I need someone that is sweet, yet firm. Someone that can help carry the load and yet soft enough to cushion the blows when we get knocked down. Someone that I can just shoot the shit with and that won’t get all uptight when I’m a little cheeky!

I guess I’m just looking love.

Is that too much to ask? Or am I just making an ass of myself?

Forget about kissing with passion.  The kiss has gone by the affectionate wayside along with hand shaking to prevent the spread of H1N1 Swine Flu and other contagious maladies.

“It might seem excessive, but given that it might knock out half the population, fear of others will set in and people will say if I kiss my colleague, I might catch it,” she told Le Parisien.

Nathalie, a secretary in Nanterre, west of Paris, said old habits are proving hard to change. “For the first time I recoiled when a colleague who had come back from holiday in Reunion island came to give me a kiss. She took it badly,” she said. There will be little trivia tidbits about the background of each of the songs from a broad range of Billboard chart topping artists.  Sometimes you’ll have to supply the artist after hearing what the song title is, and sometimes you’ll have to choose the song knowing who the artist is.

In every case you’ll have a portion of the lyrics served up to you so you won’t find yourself floundering without enough information, or fighting off pesky red herrings. Should go swimmingly for you.

Há mais ou menos um mês descobri uma nova paixão… e não é meu marido! Mas também ninguém com quem ele deva se preocupar. Na realidade, foi ele quem trouxe essa descoberta para casa, em forma de CD: Dolores Duran! Vou explicar essa história melhor.

Tudo começou quando ele resolveu comprar o CD Entre Amigos, com gravações inéditas de Dolores Duran em saraus. As músicas do CD são românticas e descobri que esse era seu estilo, com um belo toque de dor de cotovelo, mas o disco é bem gostoso de se ouvir.

Quer dizer, não aconselho a uma pessoa que acabou de sair de um relacionamento e ainda não conseguiu apagar todas as lágrimas, raiva ou qualquer sentimento que o rompimento possa causar. Imagino que seja de cortar os pulsos em um estado desses ouvir músicas como Neste Mesmo Lugar ou Coisa mais Triste. Mas, se nem tudo são flores no amor, o CD tem também deliciosas preciosidades, como Cheek to Cheek que, em minha opinião, se não é melhor, é páreo duro com a versão dos maravilhosos Louis Armstrong e Ella Fitzgerald.

Se quiserem ter uma idéia melhor do CD, basta dar uma olhada nos sites da gravadora Biscoito Fino, do Estadão ou Solteiros e Solteiras (necessário cadastro, gratuito, para esse último). Esta madrugada, em Nashville, Tennessee, Barack Obama e John McCain defrontam-se num segundo debate (transmissão directa na SIC Notícias a partir das 01h30m, com tradução simultânea competente e, se for como no primeiro debate, comentários de Nuno Rogeiro e de um outro senhor de que nunca me lembro o nome, apesar do ar tão respeitável e hei-de referi-lo aqui).

As coisas mudaram muito, desde o primeiro debate. Como referi ontem, a McCain não lhe resta senão uma estratégia de confronto directo, eventualmente agressivo para os padrões americanos (quem viu o debate entre Berlusconi e Prodi nas últimas eleições italianas, o debate entre Sarkozy e Segolène Royal nas presidenciais francesas, tem uma ideia mais clara sobre as ‘boas maneiras’ de que os europeus tanto se orgulham, em comparação com os ‘grunhos’ americanos).

De resto, a CNN dá-nos conta que: “At a campaign event in Denver, Colorado, last week, a voter asked McCain when he was going to “let the gloves come off and go after” Obama. McCain’s response: “How about Tuesday night?” Esperam-se, portanto, punhos em riste. E, se bem aconselhado, um estratégia de elegantes esquivas por parte de Obama, pontuadas por uppercuts clarificadores. O que é certo é que estarão, como nunca, face com face. Fa dies que em ronda pel cap escriure sobre això i rendir homenatge més que merescut a unes quantes dives, al meu parer, de la música. El que trobareu en aquesta secció són DONES (en majúscula) que afronten la vida amb garra i van de cara, dones amb totes les lletres de la paraula, de les que van amb el cap ben alt, de les que no tiren una pedra per després amagar la mà, sinó per mantenir la mirada i, si cal, llençar-ne una d’altra i de més gran, però de cara. I comencem el llistat molt amunt, us presento, per aquells que no les coneixeu, a les Sahara Hot Nights, a mi em van robar el cor el primer dia.

Sahara Hot Nights es un grup format per quatre dones, quatre sueques per ser més exactes. Aquestes noies ja porten més de 10 anys en la indústria musical, però encara no han rebut el reconeixement que es mereixen, i és d’estranyar, ja que fa cosa de cinc anys el món va posar la seva mirada a Suècia, degut a bandes també idolatrades per una servidora com: The Hives.
La banda està promocionant el seu nou àlbum, What If Leaving Is A Loving Thing. El primer senzill del disc és la “Cheek To Cheek”, tot i que personalment prefereixo “Hot Night Crash”, però us deixaré les dues, ja que el seu single està molt hight en les llistes sueques… i no trigarà en arribar-nos, o això espero!
